OUCH! This meeting in the park really did not go well! I hope Keith straightens up and that Mary can prove to Keith beyond a shadow of doubt that Collie is his DAUGHTER!

Poor Mary! I can kind of understand where Keith is coming from, but really!? I have a feeling that Sharon is going to somehow hear about this... So I am going to use a saying my mom always said, "If you don't start being nice, I will get my cast iron skillet and my rolling pin. And you won't like it."

Chapter 7 The week was up and it was time to get ready for the tour. Still saddened by her goodbye with her daughter, her life, Mary walked into the theater in Dublin where Celtic Thunder would be practicing before heading to North America. “Hello Mary dear, how are you today?” Sharon greeted Mary when she walked into the green room. Realizing that she was the last one to arrive, Mary quickly mumbled a ‘fine’ before heading to the area where she was supposed to get mic’d up. “Hello Mary, my name is Nicole and I am one of the singers/violinists.” A girl with dark brown hair introduced as she walked up to Mary. “Hi, nice to meet you.” Mary said as she held out her hand for her to shake. Nicole took it but she pulled Mary into a hug instead. “I heard about your rough start with the guys and don’t worry, they are very nice and they won’t be giving you a hard time anymore.” Nicole whispered in Mary’s ear. As if on cue, the lads of Celtic Thunder walked in with their heads down followed by a very upset looking Sharon. “Mary, we just wanted to say that we are sorry for the way we treated you at the restaurant. We had no right to question your personal life and it won’t happen again.” Colm started and Neil finished. Emmet and George nodded and stated their agreement. The only one who didn’t say a thing was Keith, and that’s what hurt Mary the most. “It’s alright guys; I shouldn’t have ran out like I did. It’s just I get so frustrated when people question my personal life because it happens all the time. But, just to clear up the air: I did love the man I was with and he loved me as well. I was the one who left him. We were fighting and because I was pregnant, of course I had hormones and I just got so mad that I left. I never got the chance to tell him that the child was his because he was leaving to follow his dream and I didn’t want to hold him back with a child. And that is why I am no longer in contact with him.” Mary took a breath and broke her unblinking stare from Keith’s widened blue eyes, to the rest of the lads. “And now that you know the story, can we please leave the topic be?” The guys all agreed and left to finish getting ready. Only Keith remained.
*short i know but i thought this would be a good introduction to the next part. comment please. And i feel that i should add that celticfan77's comment made my day! so thanks! and please review! and tell other people about it! thanks!*

I'm glad they apologized to Mary. And I believe that Keith will come to realize his mistake. I'm glad my comment made your day! I always laugh when my mom says things like that because she is such a sweet person she couldn't hurt a fly! ;D

Chapter 8 “What do you want Keith?” Mary asked, her past rollercoaster of a week finally catching up to her, making her just want to curl up somewhere and cry. Keith noticed this as he said, “We need to talk. Privately. Would you like to maybe meet me for dinner later tonight after rehearsals and after you get some rest?” “I thought you wouldn’t want to talk to me anymore after the incident at the park.” Mary voiced her thoughts. “I did to. But, after thinking about everything and hearing your little ‘story’ today, I think that a discussion between us needs to happen. We have to straighten everything out between us if we are to be working together.” Keith explained to his former love. “You’re right. Where and when do you want me to meet you?” Mary asked. “How about you meet me in the lobby of the hotel around seven thirty-ish?” Keith asked, hoping this time would accommodate Mary. “Seven thirty-ish it is. Where are we gonna go?” “I don’t know. I was thinking we could just walk around and try to find something like we used to do back when we were dating.” Keith said with a small smile as he thought back to all the times that him and her would do that. It was during one of those walks that he had told her he loved her…
“Keith, why are you so quiet? Are you sick or something?” seventeen year old Mary asked her unusually silent nineteen year old boyfriend Keith. “I’m fine babe, don’t worry about it.” Keith dismissed the question away. “Alright, if you’re sure. We don’t have to go out tonight though.” Mary stated as she looped her arm around Keith’s and pulling herself into him to get warmer as the couple walked around the cold streets of Derry, Ireland in the freezing cold winter weather. Snow was just starting to fall and when Keith looked down at Mary to say that he still wanted to be with her and that he doesn’t mind walking as long as she did, his heart melted as he saw little white snowflakes stick to her hair and winter cap that he decided that this was the moment to tell her what he had been thinking this whole time. With the soft glow from the lamps in the street, Keith said, “I love you Mary.”
Snapping out of his flashback, Keith questioned, So, is it a date?” Mentally slapping himself for saying the word ‘date’ Keith couldn’t help but feel happy when Mary agreed. “Alright! I want to start the show from the beginning and work our way from there!” Sharon’s voice interrupted the moment that the two were having. “I better go and finish getting ready.” Mary said awkwardly. “Yeah, same. See ya later though.” Keith called over his shoulder as he ran over to his boss to get his positions for the first song. “I know that look.” Nicole said, walking up from behind Mary. “What look?” “The look on your face. You like him don’t you?” “Who Keith? No I don’t like him! What? How could you think that?” Mary sputtered. Looking at the new singer strangely, Nicole dismissed the subject by saying, “Alright, whatever you say. Now come on lets go get on stage before Sharon kills us. From the sounds of it, she’s already mad at the lads.” That last part was added as you could hear the shrieks of Sharon yelling at what seemed like Emmet and Colm, who could be heard choking on laughter. Laughing herself, Mary agreed and walked off with Nicole. “Where are you off to Miss Mary?” Emmet questioned as he jumped into step with the girl. Attempting to roll up the sleeves of her pink plaid shirt as she fastened her pace to meet Keith on time, Mary answered her new best friend (aside from Nicole) on the rode by saying, “None of your beeswax Emmet. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have an old ‘friend’ to meet, I guess you could say. Bye!” Before getting to hear Emmet’s response, Mary ran away as fast as she could in her brown mid-calve boots. “Woah! What’s the hurry? Got a hot date or something Mary?” Keith said with a laugh as the twenty-four year old girl skidded into his arms. Smiling up at the man who had suddenly had a drastic mood change from earlier, the man who was acting the REAL Keith that she knew, Mary joked, “You wish. Now let’s go before Emmet comes and finds me.” As Mary pulled on Keith’s hand to guide him out of the hotel lobby, Keith laughed and asked, “Now why would Emmet be looking for you?” “I think that he wants me to go to a pub or something with him tonight, I don’t know.” “So, does that mean you are opposed to going to a pub then tonight?” Keith asked, his hand still looped together with Mary’s. “It doesn’t matter to me where we go, I just don’t want to be with him right now when you’re finally agreeing to talk to me.” She explained. “Alrighty then.” The broken up couple then fell into a silence that if they were dating would have been nice but since they were broken up, it was just plain awkward. Keith took this moment though to look down at the girl walking by his side. She had not changed in all these years, if anything she looked better in Keith’s opinion. With her long blond hair and blue eyes that would make any man fall at his knees, Keith couldn’t help but think back to when he had finally started to see her and a more romantic way…
“Keef! I am soo excited to see Mary! I’ve missed her this summer!” Keith’s little sister Rebecca shouted as she hopped from one foot to the other in excitement as the Harkin’s and Mr. O’Flaherty awaited the arrival of Mr. O’Flaherty’s only child. She was coming back from a summer trip funded by her school to Washington D.C and New York in America. After what seemed like hours, but it was only a short three minutes, the sound of the taxi could be heard from inside the one story house. “Daddy! I’m back!” The sound of the sixteen year old Mary could be heard. “Mary!” Rebecca squealed as she went to greet the girl she considered her older sister. Everyone followed with haste except Keith, who held back. Him and Mary weren’t exactly what you call ‘friends’ but they weren’t exactly what you called ‘enemies’ either. More like acquaintances. Mary O’Flaherty was always the girl that he would pick on but apologize to her shortly after, the girl that he couldn’t stand but would take on any other guy who wasn’t himself that bullied her, the girl that he felt some sort of need to always watch over her and protect her and to give her a shoulder if she needed to cry on. “Hey Keith!” the bubbly voice said once he entered the foyer. Keith looked up and what he saw shocked him. In place of this girl he thought he would always see as the little girl who dared him to kiss her but ran away when he tried or the little girl he constantly threatened to beat up, he saw this beautiful…woman. Hair flowing around her face and down her shoulders, her smile as wide and pretty as could be, all the baby fat in her face gone. Standing in front of Keith Harkin now was the kind of girl that guys always dreamed of having with the blond hair, blue eyes, and perfect figure and body that could kill a man. “I’m gonna make her mine.” Keith had thought as he inhaled the wonderful scent of her hair when she hugged him. With that hug, Keith became a taken man, a man who had finally fallen for a girl, something he vowed he would never do.
“Keith?” The melodious voice of Mary pulled him away from his thoughts. “What?” “I asked you if you wanted to go and eat there.” Mary pointed to a small, not very crowded pub called ‘Gilbert’s Pub’. “Sure, why not. Besides, I’m too hungry to walk anymore anyways.” “Still obsessed with food I see.” Mary laughed as she walked through the door that Keith was holding open for her. “Some things will never change. EVER.” Keith started to laugh but then stopped. He had said those exact words to Mary when she questioned his love for her that one time when they were at a party together and at least three girls came onto him. Mary grew silent at that statement too, remembering the same memory. “So, you wanted to talk?” Mary asked once the two were seated at a table in a back corner so they could have their privacy. “Yeah, um, I think we need to discuss your daughter and how you think I am the father.” Keith stated awkwardly. Having this conversation with his ex was not something he ever imagined on doing. “Right…” Mary mumbled, not really knowing how to address the situation. “Is she really mine?” “You were the only man I have ever been with Keith…” Mary trailed off, hoping he would get the meaning of the sentence. He did. “I’ll have a test done if you don’t believe me.” Mary stated when Keith remained silent. “Why did you leave without telling me I was going to be a dad?” Mary’s heart didn’t know whether to soar or stay put. From the sounds of it, Keith believed her. “I was going to tell you. That was the whole reason that I went to your house. But, then you told me about Celtic Thunder, my hormones got in the way, I exploded, and then I left to live with my mom.” “Why did you leave?” Keith questioned again. “Because,” Mary sighed. “I got the notion into my head that if I told you about Collie, then you would stay with me instead of living your dreams and I didn’t want to be the one to hold you back. I didn’t want to stop you from doing what you spent your whole life working for. I just wouldn’t have been able to live with myself if I did that to you.” “I spent so many nights thinking about what I did to make you leave and now I find out it’s a stupid reason like that? Mary, I would have found a way to make both my family and my job to work out. I bought you a frickin’ ring Mary. You were the one and then you left.” Keith instantly felt bad when he saw the tears in Mary’s eyes. “I know now that I screwed up. And I’m sorry.” “Can I meet her? Collie I mean?” Keith finally got up the courage to ask after the food had come. “I don’t know Keith. If I introduce you to her, then you have to be in it for the long run. She takes to people very quickly and if you decided that you don’t want to be with her, well, I don’t want to put her through that.” Mary warned. Keith finally said the sentence he had been rejecting since that day at the park. A sentence that he knew was true because Mary wouldn’t lie and there was no mistaking the similarity between him and Collie when he first laid eyes on her. Plus, a talk with his mom and dad helped him realize the truth as well. “Mary, she’s my daughter. I have a right to see her. I am her dad after all.”
*theres the next part...more to come soon! and CB loved the comment on the Gibbs slap...literally my fav show and haha.*

Chapter 9 Mary sat there in shock. Keith just admitted to being Collie’s father. He believed her. “She’s coming to a few of the Christmas shows since she won’t have school. You can properly introduce yourself then. And if you want, you can come and spend Christmas with us?” It came out more as a question, but Mary said it anyway. “Okay…and I’ll have to see about Christmas. Since that’s usually my only time with my family and all.” Keith said. Mary gave a little nod. A pregnant silence followed. “Thank you.” Mary finally muttered. “For what?” Keith asked, though he had a feeling what the thanks was for. “You know…” Mary trailed off. “It’s fine. No thanks needed.” Keith said softly. They remained in a comfortable silence, finishing up the remainder of their food. “Where does this leave us? Like, how do we stand?” Mary got up the courage to ask. Keith sat back, took a sip of his Guinness and thought for a moment. “Friends?” He finally concluded. A smile started to form on Mary’s face. “Yeah, I’d like that.” Keith smiled back. After Keith paid for dinner-he refused to let Mary even contribute-the two decided to walk around Dublin some more before heading back to the hotel. Hand in hand, they strolled in and out of little shops and just enjoyed each other’s presence, glad that things were finally cleared up between them. “What’s touring like?” Mary asked as they entered the public gardens. “It’s hard. Being in a different state every night, sleeping on the bus, and eating the same food over and over. But, it’s also a lot of craic. Being with the guys, for me, doing what I love to do, it’s a blast.” Keith told her. Mary silently nodded. Keith and Mary used this time walking through the garden to catch up on each other’s life since they split. As soon as Mary mentioned their daughter, Keith took that moment to ask the question that had been burning in the back of his mind. “What’s she like? Collie I mean.” “She’s…she’s…” Mary paused trying to find the right words to describe her daughter. “She’s a lot like you. Fun, free spirited, and even at four year’s old she has the worst temper.” Keith laughed. “Must get that from her mother.” “Shut up.” Mary said, nudging Keith softly. “She asks about you a lot.” Mary added when Keith didn’t say anything. “What do you mean?” Keith questioned. “She’s always asking who her father is, if she even has a father, and what he’s like.” “And what do you tell her?” “That she does have a daddy and that he is the nicest man that I have ever known. And that he loves her very much.” Keith pursed his lips together at that last statement. Ever since he had come to realize that he had a daughter, he was beating himself up over the fact that he was unable to watch her grow up and give her the love that a father should be giving to their daughter. “Oh…I’m sorry Keith. I didn’t mean to…” Mary trailed off as she noticed Keith’s behavior. “I still wish that you had told me.” He finally said quietly. “Not a day went by that I didn’t wish I told you Keith. But, something in the back of my mind told me it was for the best. But, I can see now that it wasn’t.” “You never did listen to your heart Mary. You lived life with listening to your mind and not you heart.” Keith concluded to himself. “That’s not entirely true…I listened to my heart that one night.” No further explanation was needed, they both knew what she was talking about. “Aye, that night you did.” Keith said with a small laugh. “Keith Harkin get your head out of the gutter!” Mary exclaimed with a laugh, noticing what the look in his eye was insinuating. “I won’t say another word on the subject of it makes you THAT uncomfortable.” Keith laughed. “Good.” Silence once again embraced the two. After taking a couple more steps, Mary stopped and pulled Keith into a hug. “I really did miss you Keith.” Her voice was muffled against his button down plaid shirt that smelled like him. What Keith did next completely shocked Mary…and Keith as well. Pulling her head up slightly to face his, he whispered, “I missed you more than you can ever imagine. And I’m sorry I was so harsh these last couple of days.” Then, he closed the space between the two, kissing her gently on the lips. When they finally pulled away, Mary asked, “What happened to us being just friends?” Keith smirked at her and said, “I think me and you have been through too much together. We both know that we wouldn’t have been able to stay friends for long.” The twenty-four year old girl laughed. “So, does that mean we’re just gonna pick up on where we left off?” “Yeah, pretty much. Except this time we have a kid to worry about.” Keith stated. Wrapping her arms around his waist once more, Mary mumbled, “I think we should keep us a secret for now.” “You don’t want to tell anyone?” “Don’t say it like that Keith! I just…I just don’t know if I want everyone to know. I could get fired! I…please can we just keep it on the DL until the tour is over?” Mary pleaded. Keith foolishly looked into her eyes. Just seeing how wide with fright and worry they were, Keith had to give in. “Fine, we won’t tell any of the lads or Sharon. But, I’m still calling my parents. I think we owe them some sort of explanation after I dropped the bomb the other day that I probably fathered my ex-girlfriend’s child.” “Fine, only our families can know. But no one else.” Mary agreed as they started walking again, this time Keith’s arm around her shoulder and Mary leaning closely into his body. “Alright my dear, I won’t tell anyone. But, don’t you think that they are gonna find it strange that all of a sudden we go from me practically hating you to being best friends?” Keith voiced his opinion. “Oh my God you’re right! You have to act hostile around me. You can’t be super nice or anything.” Rolling his eyes at how ridiculous Mary sounded, Keith reluctantly agreed since he knew this meant a lot to her. “Thank you. For everything.” Mary said once they reached back at the hotel. Keith smiled softly and kissed her head. “G’night Mare.” He whispered before turning to walk away. “Night Keith.” That night, they both slept with smiles on their faces as they shared the same dream. “Keith Harkin, I want you to tell me right now where we are going!” sixteen Mary exclaimed. Laughing, her date for the night said, “Sorry, no can do. It would defeat the purpose of a surprise.” Grumbling, Mary rolled her eyes, a look that went unnoticed by Keith because her eyes were blindfolded so she couldn’t see where they were heading. “Okay, we are here.” Keith said a few minutes later as his car skidded to a halt. “FINALLY! Can I take this stupid blind fold off now?” Mary pleaded. “Yes, you can take it off. You know, you really gotta work on your patience.” Keith expressed his thoughts as Mary yanked the black bandana that was wrapped around her head to cover her eyes off. “Harkin, at this rate, there won’t be a second date.” It was true, the couple was on their first date. “Fine, fine. I’ll stop.” “You got that…” But Mary trailed off when she noticed the site around her. They were on a secluded hill that overlooked one of the prettiest beaches that Mary had ever seen. “Beautiful ain’t it.” Keith muttered as he wrapped his arm around Mary’s shoulders. “I’ve never seen anything like this. How did you find it?” Mary questioned as she leant into the man she had grown up loving. “Got lost coming home from a friend’s house one day and stumbled upon this. I usually come here whenever I need to clear me head or want to work on my music and such.” Keith explained. “Do any other people know about this?” Mary asked. “Aside from me, you are the only other person I have ever seen come here.” Keith whispered as he kissed Mary’s cheek. “I feel honored.” Mary stated as she pulled away from Keith. “Yeah, you should. Now, come on let’s eat. I’m starving.” Laughing, Mary said, “Of course you are.” They talked about everything that night. Their future, their present lives, friends, family, struggles they were having…everything. And when they finally decided to head home, they did so in sorrow, for neither wanted to leave the secluded place that would forever be known as ‘their place’. Keith dropped Mary off at her house around one in the morning, and ending their first date, they sealed what they hoped would be a long lasting relationship with a kiss and then a scream when the two teenagers noticed Mary’s dad waiting for her on the front porch.
