Chapter 40
"Fine Janie." I sighed. "There's a couple things I think I should tell y'all before we go upstairs."
"What do ye need to tell us love?" Keith asked.
"Have any of you ever read the Inkheart books by Cornelia Funke?" I asked.
"I have." Damo said.
"Good. You'll know what I'm talking about then. I am a Silvertongue. And Dustfinger* taught me how to play with fire." I said.
"What???" Was the general reply.
"Yes. Um, Leslie, would you please bring me that cookbook?" I said.
She grinned, said "Yes, little sis.", and winked.
I opened it, and started reading the names of the recipes, so on the table there was now Irish Stew and Soda Bread, Potatoes in lots of ways and Guinness.
"Okay, enough for now." I said, closing the cookbook.
"Um, love, when exactly were ye going to tell me about this?" Keith asked.
"I don't know." I replied honestly.
"So this is why you won't read my kids spooky stories! Even when Karen and I say it's alright!" Sean exclaimed, then winked at the last part.
"Yeah." I blushed.
"Ye have kids?" Damo asked.
"Yep. Three little girls." Sean smiled. "I can't wait to see them again."
"Why can't ye see them?" Emmet asked.
"Because of The Clan." Leslie said. "We are on tour right now."
"Sean, Dominic, Joseph, Samuel, Leslie, Sarah, Alisabeth and I are The Clan." I explained.
"Where do ye usually live, Sean?" Ryan asked.
"Ye are in a band?
" The lads asked.
"California." Sean smiled, answering Ryan. "A great place to surf. Of course, Sunny has already surfed quite a few February Weeks across the pond in Ireland. So I'm not sure how the waves there compare with here."
"Yes, in my spare time." I said, answering everyone else.
"Nice." Keith said, in response to both Sean and I.
"She's an FBI Special Agent." Hazel helpfully said.
"What!?!?!?!" Again was the general response, this time mixed with a few choice curses from some people.
"Um, yeah." I answered.
"Well, she did say she worked for the government....." Neil said.
"Yes, I did." I said, a little relived that nobody
really freaked out, and started heading up the stairs.
"Wait, love, are the tarantulas from a book??" Keith asked, shuddering when he said "tarantulas".
"Yes, now you lads better learn this dance, because we will be preforming it at one of The Clan's shows, which happens to be after your next one here, on Monday." I said.
-----------------------------Upstairs------------------------------------------------------------------
"Alright, Cassie, do you remember the dance?" I asked.
"Yep sure do! Do you have the music?" She replied.
"Yep!" I said.
"Okay, costume change!" She said loudly, interrupting whatever it was the boys were talking about, and hustling us to the appropriate dressing rooms.
Jess, Liza, Meg, Dom and I changed into the bright crimson skirts and black-heeled character shoes that were mentioned in the book, as we listened to our lads protesting when they saw their costumes.
"What!?!?!?!?" They shouted. "Ye've got to be kidding!!!!! Black silk!!?!?!?!?"
We started laughing.
"It would seem that they don't like their costumes!" Dom laughed.
"Alright, do you have the lights and sets and everything?" Cassie said as she and Belinda came in.
"Yep." I said.
"Wow." Cassie said, looking at us. "You didn't say the costumes where that beautiful."
"I thought I did." I said.
"Oh well, never mind." Cassie said. "Vintage stereo cabinet and thick, vinyl tango record, check. Nice! We have everything ready!"
We stepped out of the dressing room and I hollered, "Lads, are you done yet?? In the words of Lisa Mantchev's Beatrice Shakespeare Smith, 'Either wear a dress like Pease's or wear your monkey suits'! In this case either wear one of our costumes, or wear yours!"
"Fine! Fine! We'll wear these!" They shouted.
They then stepped out of the dressing room, and, I think Damo and Meg fainted at the same time.
The lads looked absolutely
hawt in their costumes.
"Wow, um, black silk works for all of you lads, not just Ryan." Cassie said, her eyes wide. The rest of us just stared.
"Wow." The lads breathed, well those that hadn't fainted (Damo!!
).
Janie tried to revive Meg, waving smelling salts under her nose, while Jesse tried to wake Damo up.
They finally came to, everyone cheered. "They're alive!!" (lol, I'm having fun writing this!
)
Everybody else raced up the stairs, then stopped.
"I should have put the rest of the lads in black silk sooner!" Sharon said.
Sean looked at me. "Sunny, I don't remember that being the dress you wore when you trying to teach Jamie how to tango. You might have had a better relationship."
"Just because you're my older brother, does not mean I won't kick ya." I warned, grinning. "And, I was only 16. I'm 25 now, so I can wear this dress if I want."
"Jamie?" Keith said, questioningly.
"Old boyfriend. Left me for a stick of a girl with blonde hair that didn't surf." I said, laughing. "Then she left him, for a guy on the football team that every girl in the high school, but me, was drooling over."
Everyone laughed. "Karma, huh." Cassie said.
"Yep!" I said. "Come on, let's get started, or the lads won't have the steps memorized!"
I handed the lads the lines.
-----------------------Rehearsal, next day(June 18, Saturday, they have until Monday, the 20th)----------------------
"Alright!!! Skip ahead a few lines!!" Cassie said.
So we girls skipped to, " 'Lead on, pretty boy.' "
"Kay! Just like we rehearsed yesterday!" Cassie said.
The music started over and we and the lads danced to the melody, then we spun.
The lads dipped us, and we trailed our hands over the wall.
We then walked down the part of the room that resembled an alley, and danced, spinning.
The lads that were sitting in the audience threw the roses to them.
Instead of following the book here, since I said we wouldn't, the lads put them between their teeth.
Cassie controlled the the lights, a red gelled spotlight and the 'starlight'; mirrored balls with pin-lights.
They dipped us, and then as the music ended, kissed us.
The regular lights came back on, and everybody clapped.
"Wow! They should have done that as a music video for TGP, even though it's not singing." CC said.
"That was perfect!" Cassie and Belinda said.
"Sunshine! Jessi! You've gotten even better!" Sharon said.
"Thanks Aunt Sharon!" Jess and I said, then laughed.
"Alright! Who's up for swimming? It's hot in here!" Leslie said.
To be continued......... in the next chapter!!!! hehehehe!
