I was logged in perfectly, Said hello then switched over to here. To catch up on stories. And then I could not get back in! Finally after an hour of trying a message popped up saying the site was down. But at least I entered the new contest before I was booted out! What type of dog was Ming?

I wake up to the smell of pizza. Mmmm what a heavenly scent. I'm glad we've made Sundays the official pizza night. The scent is coming through the vents in my bedroom. I don't really wanna go downstairs; still kinda tired maybe that hit did more than I thought. I decide to see if someone will answer the intercom that we had installed in the house. I press the call button on my end hoping that someone will hear me. Someone answers, I ask if I could get a couple slices delivered to my apartment.
My brother tells me he'll put a few slices on a plate and send them up as soon as the pizza gets out of the oven. I've got cold pop in the fridge so all I need is the pizza. I decide to make myself a salad while I wait. It's a good thing I make amazing salads because I swore I was waiting for at least 30 minutes even if it was only 20. There intercom buzzed which meant my pizza was on its way up to the second floor via the dumb waiter.
So I fix a place to eat my food. Its best to eat my salad first so my pizza will have a chance to cool. I'm not a big fan of burning the roof of my mouth on hot cheese so I wait. I pour a glass of pop, Pepsi is my drink of choice. Finally I sink my teeth into the heavenly goodness; oh how I love homemade pizza. After I finish my pizza I get on the computer. I do my usual checking of Facebook while I sign into my email account. Not much happening online tonight; still no reply from Ms. Anne. I log off and decide to see what's on TV. Sunday is usually a good night for television. Nothing really interests me so I figure I'll work a little on my jewelry.
-ok enough for tonight, my mom says I need to get off, as if I'm talking to someone in the pub tonight, its down and only thing I'm doing is working on my Cafe on Facebook.

Ming was a pug, we had him for a little over 10 yrs, I think. One day he just wasn't feeling well which wasn't like him at all. Mom and brother took him to the vet and he died on the way home. I was at work. My brother and I buried him in our backyard. It was the worst day of our lives. Last May instead of going to my cousin's wedding we went to Detroit Zoo's Meet Your Buddy at the Zoo and adopted a Boston Terrier named Annabelle. She's so funny and a total opposite of Ming. She loves toys and he hated them. She loves everyone. Yesterday she gave the guy who was repairing my mom's power chair a kiss. I never thought she'd kiss a stranger but she knew he had a dog.

I toss and turn all night long; I think I should have not eaten that last slice of pizza at 10 p.m. Images of missing crucial flights and then worst of all missing my flight to Dublin which messes with my chance to compete against others at World Irish Dancing Competition. Finally, the nightmares go away and I'm able to sleep. I have to work tomorrow, Monday, so I need to get a few more hours of uninterrupted sleep.
Monday morning my alarm goes off and I feel rested even if I only had a few hours of peaceful sleep. I roll out of bed and head for the kitchen which isn't really big but I need to eat before I get ready for work. Two eggs and toast along with a cup of coffee, this is my standard breakfast when I have to work. It's a good thing I can multitask or I'd be in real trouble right now. I retrieve the chicken salad out of the fridge to make a sandwich for work. I slide eggs out pan butter toast and pour a cup of coffee all without batting an eyelash.
After I finish eating breakfast, I put my sandwich in a baggie then I head for the shower. It takes about 30 minutes or so to get to work from where I live. I get dressed, grab my lunch, coat and purse head down the stairs. No one is around, there is a note on table saying they went to the store and that Ming had already been let out. So I just made sure his water bowl is filled then out the door I go.
Traffic isn't bad which is good I get to work a couple minutes early. I take a look at the daily schedule at least my friend, Lisa, is working in concessions. I know the day will go by a lot faster with her around. I've not really told anyone about my trip much less that every Wednesday night I go to dance class. I've sorta kept that a secret from most everyone except Lisa. She's the only bff I have at work and is good about keeping secrets. During the day I'll find the time to mention my trip to Ireland in June.
-off to the store will write more later.

Just as I thought, she gave me a shocked look. She said, "what did you say?" I said, "I have been given the chance to compete against other Irish step dancers in the World Irish Dance Championship in Galway, Ireland." It took a few minutes for what I said to sink in but when it did she said, "ok" that's all she said.
After thirty minutes had passed she had a couple questions for me. I figured she would I was just waiting for her to fully process what I'd said. First, she wanted to know how it came to be that I was entered into this competition. Second, she wanted to know how I was going to pay for the trip because she knew that my finances wouldn't allow me to take such an expensive trip. Third, how long was I going to be gone? The last question I suspect was more directed at the length of time I'd be gone from work.
I told her what my teacher had done; which was submit a video of a performance of mine without my knowledge. I said I was a little upset at first but once it sunk in I was open to the idea of competing against other Irish dancers in Ireland. I told her all about the fundraising efforts that are being put forward to help get me to Ireland. As for the last question I said, "I'm gonna take a week off from work because this is a once in a lifetime chance so I thought I'd take advantage of this opportunity to see some of the country once the competition was over." The last part was true to some extent though I don't think I'd be able to see a whole lot given the fact that the competition runs Friday through Sunday which will leave me Sunday evening until Thursday to see some of the sites of Dublin.

-Ok so I decided I'll write one more update before I go to bed. Need get a good night sleep I wanna go to the gym tomorrow.
The drive home from work was a perfect time to think about what I needed to do. Time was definitely gonna fly by and before I knew it February would be here then March which probably meant there'd be more snow on the ground. Oh how I hated to think about more snow even in January. I'd need to have my tickets purchased by middle of April if I wanted to lock in the amazing deal I'd found the night before. I'd need to make a list once I got home of all the things I needed to do because time was ticking.
The ride home took a little longer with all the traffic on the expressway which was typical for rush hour. I decided to sneak in the side and up the stairs so as not to disturb anyone. As I walked through my door I turned on my desktop so I could check my email. I'd forgot to do that before I went to work but I had to see if Ms. Anne had replied. Of course she liked both my ideas who wouldn't besides there was no time to waste. I logged out of my email, grabbed a pad of paper and pen then plopped down on my couch.
First thing on my list was prices for each ticket. Cost of train travel from Dublin to Galway one way. Third a list of theaters I'd need to hit up for donations on my day off. Fourth a list of places who'd be willing to donate Irish merchandise for my Irish auction. I'm pretty sure that auction won't take place until the weekend before St. Patty's Day. The dinner date auction was going to take a bit more thinking on my part. I needed to come up with some amazing dates that would bring in the money. I didn't really no any local celebrities personally but there had to way. I'd need to get some big guns if I wanted to raise enough money for the trip. At least I wouldn't have to worry about finding a place to stay while I was in Galway that was included. All contestants would be spending the competition housed in the local college's dormitory. I'd only need to find a place to stay once I was back in Dublin.
OK, I was done with my list so I decided to turn on the TV for a bit. It was still early nothing really on but the news. I didn't feel like eating with my family tonight which wasn't unusual especially on the days I worked. They understood because usually traffic was a killer and I always needed to take a nap. So that's exactly what I did, I took a nap. I had no idea what I was gonna have for dinner but my freezer was always full of stuff I could pop in the microwave. I made sure to set my alarm for 7:40 p.m. because if I didn't I'd sleep the night away which wasn't good considering I had to work tomorrow.
-ok that's its for tonight, more tomorrow I promise. hopefully neil will appear sooner than you think.

Colleen! What a struck of luck it would be if the date auction was during the same time Neil was intown for March Promo's. That would be a cool way to bring Neil into the story sooner! This update was cute! It showed how organized story Colleen is!

I believe I said local celebrities, sports stars, and they don't have to be single its just dinner, we have local writers and artist, maybe some local musicians. I think the Irish themed auction will be better. Besides my story takes place in 2008. They haven't even performed at the Helix in Dublin in my story.

Tuesday was nothing really special except that Lisa was ready with more questions. I kinda figured after a good night's sleep she'd have a little more to question. I was prepared but really what more could I say. I told her about the other auctions that I was working on. Maybe she could give me some ideas especially who I could ask to participate in the dinner date auction. She gave me some suggestions but that was all. The rest of the day went off without another word of my secret.
When I got home I had a brain storming session, concentrating my efforts on who might be willing to participate in my dinner date auction. I wrote down Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers but then I scratched out Tigers because it would be to hard to find one this time of year. I then started writing a list of popular television personalities from local TV news shows. I added radio personalities to the list, especially those who might fit the bill. I included film stars like Jeff Daniels, who lived in Michigan. I wrote down Detroit Pistons and university basketball players who did charity work. I guess you could say the money that was raised was going to to a charity of sorts, the main reason behind all the fundraising was to help me get to Ireland because without help from strangers I couldn't afford to make this trip.
Saturday morning a bake sale was taking place at the school. Ms. Anne emailed me the flier for the event making sure I was aware that she'd placed an ad for the event in the local Oakland County paper as well as the Detroit News. She said she contacted a couple friends who are reporters hoping they'd write a human interest story about my efforts to compete in Ireland this summer. Wow, I had no idea my teacher had friends in high places. I just hope no one I work with sees the story. I still have to figure out when would be a good time to ask my manager about making a donation.
Later that evening at the local high school there would be a pasta dinner. I thought it was a spaghetti dinner but apparently its gonna be much more than just plain old spaghetti. There was another flier in my inbox, this time it explained the whole pasta dinner, exactly what was being served along with the prices for adults and children.
Between both events happening this Saturday I was really looking forward to the pasta dinner. I love baked goods but I really can't afford to gain any weight. I've been battling my weight most of my life but lost enough to make it easier to continue Irish step dancing. I have Saturday and Sunday off so I can go to both events on Saturday without having to worry about getting up early on Sunday morning to go to work. I hope I can get Lisa to come to one of the events. I know she's opening Saturday which means she'll out by 4 p.m. I just hope she will come to the pasta dinner which starts at 7. It would be nice to know one face in the crowd supporting my cause.
Tomorrow was my day off and I was glad, I always look forward to Wednesdays. It is also the day I have dance class and I'm pretty sure the class will find out about my going to Ireland. Ms. Anne said I will need to practice more than I usually do. I really don't have anywhere at home I can practice since I need to have a wooden floor which is a necessity for an Irish step dancer. So I thought about maybe getting to class an hour early so I could work out a bit more without any disturbances.
Woke up several times during the night. I keep having the same nightmare; I keep miss my connecting flight to New York which makes me miss my flight to Dublin which ruins my once in a lifetime chance. My family is behind my decision to participate in this competition even if it means going to Ireland. I still couldn't figure out what was bothering me maybe it was the fact that the others in the class weren't given this same opportunity as I was. I'd only been dancing for a little over 2 years. Could it be that this secret life I was leading was causing my stomach to get upset; no one else at work even new what I did on my days off not even the managers. Of course that would have to change and a new secret would have to be forged.
When I finally woke up Wednesday morning all I could think about what was gonna happen during class. Oh well there was nothing I could really do about it right now so I decided to make breakfast, shower and take the dog for a walk. It seems like every time I take Ming for a walk I can think much more clearly. I still needed to come up with names of celebrities instead of just generalized groups. Maybe during the walk actual names might come to me.
It was definitely another cold winter's day in Michigan. Even if we aren't close to water I think we still get the effects of arctic air coming from Canada. I think this was going to be a short walk just down to the end of the block and back. I didn't feel like walking all the way around the block; I didn't have the stamina to be pulled around the block by a stubborn pug. If it wasn't as cold as it was I might have opted for a longer walk but because Ming refuses to wear the sweater my mom knit I have to make it a short walk.
As usual we are both exhausted when we come through the door. Mom has gone out to the store and my brother has gone to work walking a couple dogs. Usually in the winter he doesn't do a lot of dog walking except on Wednesdays when most of his clients tend to get wrestles being cooped up inside all week long. His main objective during the winter is indoor stimulation but lately he's been walking his dogs on Wednesdays. My dad is in his room listening to the radio. I can hear Frank Beckman blaring out his bedroom door.
I just love the house when its quite I can do what I want. I give Ming a fresh bowl of water. He takes a drink then heads to his bed to sleep off his walk. Apparently any form of exercise will put him to sleep. I decided to raid the refrigerator looking for something healthy to much on. I'd made two eggs and toast before I went for the walk but I needed a little something to help me make it through to lunch. I grab a yogurt and head upstairs.
As I walk through the door of my apartment my phone rings which is weird since only a few people know I have a phone that isn't a cell phone. I pick it up to find that its my brother asking if I knew what was for dinner. I say, "I have no idea what's for dinner but I did notice some ground chuck in the refrigerator so maybe mom's gonna make sloppy joes." It was just a guess but I'm pretty sure that was what was going to be for dinner. I'd have to leave early for class if I wanted to get a little more practice time in. So I was OK with having sloppy joes for dinner.
- ok I'm getting tired. this is a pretty big post to make up for not posting anything yesterday. more will come tomorrow i promised im just exhausted writing.
