here it is an update... this one was a struggle to write...
Chapter 44- Give me my Suitcase
School had ended and Lauren was at Damian's hotel, helping him pack. "I think I might need another suitcase." He grumbled, knowing it would cost him more.
Lauren smiled, "I brought you one." She said throwing him her red duffel. "I'll want it back though."
"And just how are you going to get it back. I'm not mailing you an empty bag."
Lauren laughed, "I'll get it back, I have my ways."
Damian sighed as he shoved clothes into the bag. His swim trunks were still on the bed.
"Damo, why haven't those been packed yet?" Lauren asked.
Damian blushed, and quickly lied, "Because, uh…" which he failed at.
Lauren picked them up and threw them at his face. "Put them in the bag now. You're not as sly as you think."
Damian laughed, "I like to think I am."
"That did not help your case."
"I know." He said as he placed the trunks in the duffel.
He had finished packing. "I'm going to miss you. A lot." He said.
"Me too," Lauren said hugging him. "I'm gonna miss you car as well."
Damian squeezed her, "Wont we all." He chuckled. He gave her a kiss on the top of the head. "Come on, its not like its forever, you will visit your grandma…" He raised an eyebrow, and smirked, "Which means by default you'll most likely see me."
Lauren laughed, "I know. But you're gonna miss all of senior year."
"It comes with being Irish." He said, not truly knowing how to respond.
She sighed, as the headed to the elevator, the hotel staff had gotten to know Damian quite well over the months he had been their, they were all sad to see him leave.
They were in the parking garage, "I'm taking you." She smiled. She grabbed one of his bags and loaded it in the trunk. He put the rest in.
It was the first time he actually saw the trunk of her car, there had to be like one hundred water bottles in it. "You need to clean out your trunk."
"Shut up." She said, getting in on the drivers side.
He got in, and Lauren started the car. It was a relatively quiet ride to the airport. For both knew they were being separated. Something neither wanted. They knew all about long distance relationships, they knew all about the facts of those relationships not working out.
Lauren drove to the parking lot, and helped Damian with his stuff. He went to by his ticket. They were in the grand foyer of the airport. "Don't forget me." She said.
"I could never forget you." He smiled. "Don't doubt me." He said in a stern voice. He knew she might.
"I wont. I'll wait till I can wait no more." She said.
Damian kissed her. "I'll miss you." He headed to security and began to go through to the gate.
Both of them knew this wasn't the last goodbye. But for some reason they felt as this would be the last goodbye. It would be a moment that out of their whole relationship it would be one of the three they would never forget. The first of the three moments, would be more of a time period, when they were friends just friends, and the times of them kicking her red soccer ball. The second would be prom, and this would be the third.
Lauren watched Damian disappear into the crowd. She then slowly left and went home. She wasn't depressed, but she was just missing him.
A few weeks had passed, and Lauren and Damian skyped and emailed a lot. Calling was to expensive their fore done very irregularly.
It was during a skype conversation that something changed.
"Hey Damian." Lauren smiled.
"Hello, how's the little lion doing?"
"Just great." Lauren told him.
"You excited for camp."
Lauren nodded. "I leave tomorrow."
"I'm going to write you, well I want to." Damian said, "Well I would, if I had an address."
"Oh right, that would be helpful." She smiled. She told him the address.
And echo came from somewhere behind Damian. "My mum had dinner ready, I gotta go. I love you." He said.
"Love you too." She told him, he grinned, and watched him leave. She turned her computer off.
Both of them seemed so distant. It's not that they were, its just their conversations weren't what they used to be. They weren't deep, or full of jokes, they were just shallow, like a kiddy pool.
Camp was not easy but not hard, it was a struggle, like a roller coaster. Lauren loved it, it helped her grow. Damian did not enter her thoughts once, maybe it was because the letters he promised never came.
When she came home, she called him, actually called him but received no answer, of course it was nine o'clock her time their fore like three am his. But se knew once he saw it was her calling that he would answer. She wanted to here his voice, but she didn't. The closest she got was a picture taken at their prom after party, of the two of them.
She had a week before she went to visit her grandmother for two weeks before she headed off to college. She began to pack, it wasn't that much since most of it was packed for college, but it was enough.
Her mom took her to the airport, she went through everything, and put her ipod in when she got on the plane. Last time she made the trip to Ireland, she was with Damian. Last time it almost ended their relationship, their friendship. Last time they basically had to start over with everything.
She fell asleep, and woke up looking over the beautiful Emerald Isle. She called her grandma as they taxied to the gate. "I'm here."
"I'll see you in a bit, sweety." Her wise grandma said.
Lauren got off the plane and went to the baggage claim fully expecting to see her grandmother, but she saw no one she knew. She sighed, as some was grabbing her bag.
"Excuse me, that's my bag."
The person just ignored her, and took her other bag.
"Excuse me. I would like my bag." The man simply ignored her, and began walking away with her bags. "Sir, please, those are my bags."
The man walked out of the airport with them. Lauren was getting furious now. "Dude, stop being an butt, and give me my bags."
The man chuckled but walked to a red Audi and began to load her stuff in.
Now if Lauren was thinking straight she would have known who the laugh belonged to but she was mad, and being mad makes one not think straight.
"Dude, come on." She hit him on the back. "Would you stop." The man then got into the car. "Hello, what am chopped liver. Let me have my bags."
The man closed the door, Lauren hadn't seen his face, all she knew was that her bags were being hijacked. But the man didn't drive off. Lauren knocked on the window of the car. She was ready to punch the man.
The tinted window began to lower, and Lauren raised her fist, ready to punch.
When the window was low enough, she let the punch go.
The brunette went backwards well as much as he could. "Ah." He said ad put his hand to his now bloody nose.
Lauren cupped her hand over her mouth as she realized who it was. "OmiGod. Damian."
