Chapter 16- You're Killing Me
It was sunny and hot, and Damian was still wondering how Lauren was surviving in the long sleeve goalie jersey.
She walked to the center of the field and shook hands with the other team's captain. So Damian assumed she was captain, not that it was weird for a goalie to be captain it was just unusual.
Although he had to admit her team's uniform was pretty awesome. The girls were in lime green jersey's with their names on the back and numbers in white. Lauren was in white jersey, with three lime green stripes that went around the right sleeve. There was the letter C in lime green lettering above the three stripes. On the back were her name and the number one in black outlined in lime green.
He looked around, he saw a few of Lauren's friends, but he did not see KJ, or any of her other guy friends. Lauren dove, and easily saved the ball.
With about a minute left in the game, Lauren made an awesome save. She pointed to the other end of the field, the strikers got ready, the mids started to run. Lauren dropped the ball and kicked it. The ball soared across the field, the goalie jumped, and Lauren had scored.
Her mouth had dropped. Lauren had never done that before. She had tried but always came up a little too short. The team sprinted to Lauren.
"You did it!" They yelled.
"I can't believe it." Lauren said in shock. The other team slowly left the field.
Damian had rarely seen that shot. He could not believe it.
After a while, everyone left Lauren was putting her gloves in her bag. This was different than her practice one; this was a solid black soccer back pack, with a green bow tied onto the tag with her name on it.
"Hey, great shot." Damian said walking up.
"Thanks, that was pure luck though." Lauren told him.
"So that does not take away from its greatness; your fans, and parents are so energetic."
Lauren laughed. "Yeah, they are kinda electric."
Damian laughed at her little joke. "You wanna pass the ball around?" Damian asked.
"Sure." Lauren pulled a lime green ball out of her bag.
They started passing it around. "Hey, I never asked ya, what kind of music do you like?"
"Oh pretty much everything, I can stand some country, but I don't really like it, or rap."
"Cool." Damian said kicking the ball to her.
Lauren was juggling the ball, and Damian started to walk towards her. She noticed and stopped.
He came up to her, took her hands, and looked into her deep brown eyes. "Lauren would you do me the honor, of going to homecoming with me."
Lauren's mouth dropped. She had never been asked to a dance before, she had asked a kid to Sadies, but that was different. She also never thought a boy would ask her to a dance. "I, uh…" Lauren stuttered.
"You're killing me here." Damian said he was falling to his knees, gripping his heart. "I need an answer."
"Of course. I mean, I couldn't let you just die on me." She laughed.
Damian got up, "You saved me. And you're going to homecoming with me."
"You're welcome, and I am sure we are going to have fun." Lauren said.
Damian hugged her, and she surprisingly to him hugged back. Damian then lifted her off the ground and spun her around.
"You know." She said, Damian set her on the ground, "You are very romantic. I like that." She smiled.
"I try." Damian laughed. "So how soon do ya think it will be before everyone knows?"
"I have no clue." She laughed.
Damian put his arm around her, and they walked off the field, she was smiling and dribbling the ball, he picked up her bag.

I don't remember who asked this but... Damo is a nickname that one of the guys called Damian (I think it was Paul) when they were doing PBS interviews 2 years ago and we all loved it.
Lauren - I'm enjoying this story. Thanks for posting it even with your doubts.

Chapter 17- At Least Till Christmas
Damian was lounging on his bed in his hotel room, watching television with his laptop in his lap. He logged into his email, he had a few from friends in Ireland telling him soccer was not the same.
He got one from his mom, he opened it. Damian read the letter out loud, "Dear Damian, How are things? Sounds like you got all settled in. I told you everything would be taken care of. Have you met Lauren Pfieffer?" Damian started coughing because he choked on his spit, when he read Lauren's name. How did his mom know about her? "She is Mrs. Shannon's grand daughter, and the one they are trying to set you up with. Now I know you might not like her, but do for Mrs. Shannon, and your grandmother. When you meet her, put on your charm, I know you have it. And if you really don't like her, well just make it last till Christmas. I hope you're have a wonderful time."
Damian could not believe what he had just read. He could not let Lauren find out he was supposed to fall in love with her. He fell in love with her, but now he was supposed to. He was not sure if the feelings he felt for Lauren would stay the same. He was afraid they might change. He did not want that, he had to be true to Lauren. He knew she was smart, and if his feelings changed, into a force, instead of a gut instinct Lauren would know. She would know he was a fake. He could not let that force take over; he still had that gut instinct he hoped it would stay forever.
*OMG GASP!!!*

Chapter 18- The First Sign Denial
"So Lauren I heard y'all won the game yesterday, because you scored a goal." Libby said, as they were walking out of the movie theater.
"Yeah, it was pretty awesome. I mean the ball just soared across the field."
"Sorry, I couldn't go. But I was sent on a scavenger hunt." She laughed.
"So who asked you?" Lauren knew what scavenger hunt meant. The two girls were standing outside the movie theater just talking.
"Andy."
"It's not that bad." A white Audi pulled up and honked twice. The window was opened, and a red rose was thrown on the ground. Lauren went to pick it up. There was a red ribbon tied to it with a note, that read, Lauren, come to the car.
Lauren looked back at Libby confused. She walked to the driver's window, and knocked on it. The window rolled down. "Hey Lauren." It was KJ.
"Hey KJ." Lauren said.
"I was wondering would you go to homecoming with me." He unlocked the door, getting ready to step out, and hug her when she said yes.
Lauren frowned, "KJ, I am really sorry, but I have been asked. Trust me, I am really sorry, you're just a day to late. I am so sorry." She handed him the rose. "I really am sorry." She walked away. KJ looked at the rose, he through out of the window, out of heartbreak and frustration. He sped off.
"So where is the rose?"
"On the ground." Lauren said, looking at it.
"Why?"
"KJ, asked me to homecoming."
"You told him no! Why?" Libby asked surprised.
"Well, I was asked yesterday." Lauren explained. "I feel so bad."
"Don't be, it's not your fault you were asked. So who asked you?"
"Just a kid." Lauren smiled.
"No way." Libby said Lauren smiled bigger, "No way." The smile grew, "No way! Damian asked you. Oh my gosh, that is so cute."
"I know, he asked my after the game yesterday. It was really cute. It wasn't overdone, it was perfect. Well KJ's would have been perfect if I told him yes."
Libby laughed. "You and Damian are perfect together."
"Woah, we are not going out. We are friends. Remember I like KJ."
"Right." Libby smirked, "You like KJ, but you love Damian."
"I do not." Lauren playfully hit Libby.
"The first sign, denial." Libby laughed.

Chapter 19- I am Not Worth Fighting Over
Lauren was sitting in front of her locker, cursing physics under her breath.
"Good morning." Damian said sitting down next to her.
"Good morning." She said.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"Well it's more like two things, one, what is baton twirling, and explain to me why you don't do it any more, it seemed like you were pretty good. Two, why was KJ not at your game, oh wait it is three things. And three, will you explain American football to me."
"Thanks, um basically baton twirling is tossing a metal stick with rubber ends up in the air, and doing tricks with it. I don't do it any more because I like having a life." She laughed. "I guess I was pretty good. KJ was not at my game, because I don't think he knows I even play soccer, we don't really talk. And football, it is easier if we were watching a game. But you have four chances to get ten yards, or get a touch down. If you get ten yards, then the four chances start over. That is the basically point of the game. Simple really."
"Thanks." He commented, "To bad you and KJ don't really talk."
"I know. Oh yeah he asked me to homecoming yesterday. I had to tell him no. I felt so bad."
"So that is why Emma wanted me to ask Saturday." He said under his breath.
"What did you say?"
"Oh nothing and I am sorry."
"No don't be." Lauren said. "It's not your fault."
Emma walked up just then. "Hey Lauren, hey Damian."
"Yeah it's not my fault." Damian said loud enough for Emma to hear.
Emma laughed, "I said I was routing for you."
Lauren looked at them both and laughed. "Damian during study hall can you help me with…?" Lauren started.
"Let me guess, Physics." Damian finished.
"No, Irish, of course physics." Lauren sarcastically replied, Damian laughed.
"Hi Lauren, hey D. Lauren, who did you ask you to homecoming?" KJ asked sitting down in front of them.
"Uh, KJ you have to promise you won't get mad."
"I promise" he smiled.
Lauren looked at Damian, "You have to promise not to get mad at the guy either, and I don't want any fights. I am not worth fighting over. Plus it is a silly dance."
"Okay, okay, just tell me who asked you." KJ laughed.
Lauren looked at Damian again, "Damian did, right after my soccer game Saturday."
"I see. Wait you play soccer?"
"Yeah, since I was little. I am on the school team too." Lauren informed.
"She has also been called the best goalie in the state." Emma added.
"I never knew that. How did ya do?"
"She scored the winning goal. She kicked if from one end of the field to another, that rarely happens mate." Damian told him.
"Well I will try to come to a game or two sometime."
Even though KJ was being nice, he was still bitter towards Damian, and Lauren. But he would get over it.

Chapter 20- Awkward Emails
Later in the day, after Damian had finished his homework, he was laying on his bed, a soccer match on the TV. He was not paying attention. He was thinking about that stupid email. He was wondering, if he really loved Lauren or not. That email gave him a lot to think about.
Damian thought about what life would be like if he absolutely hated Lauren. That was really hard, considering Lauren was kind and sweet. He could not do it. He could not find a feeling of dislike towards her.
He groaned. "Why does life have to be so complicated?" He asked him self.
Damian really cared for her; he would be crushed if she was hurt or sad. He had a weird feeling in his stomach; it is like he was emotionally attached to her. He knew he was in love, but this was not that love feeling, this was something different. More serious maybe, he did not know.
He needed to reply to his mom. Logging into his email he started to write, "Dear ma, I am fine. Yes, I did meet Lauren. She is very sweet. It would have been nice to know she was the one I am supposed to be falling in love with, before I actually did. I hope that when she finds out, she understands that I loved her before all this. School is great, footy tryouts are coming up, I am not too worried. Oh more about Lauren she is great, the first few days of school she showed me around, and now I am going to the dance with her. I asked her at a footy match. She is a great goalie. I also asked her before I read your email. So proof, that I do love her. Anyways, I miss you. And tell grammy thanks for the great set up. Lot's of love, Damo."
Damian read the letter over again before he sent it. After he pressed send, he said out loud, "Well that was an awkward email."

Chapter 21- The One Who Asked Me First
Lauren was the first one in the gym again; she was changing when Emily came in. "Hi Lauren." She said.
"Hello." Lauren greeted.
Emily knew something, she had an eager face, "So, has anyone asked you to homecoming?" She asked raising an eyebrow.
Lauren blushed, 'Maybe."
"Oh my gosh, who was it? KJ, or Damian."
Lauren got embarrassed. As it happened it was both of them. But Lauren was wondering why Emily guessed both of them. "Both." She mumbled.
"Wait I didn't catch that?" Emily laughed.
"Both." Lauren said louder, as Steph entered the room.
"Both what?" Stephanie asked.
"Both KJ, and Damian asked Lauren to homecoming." Emily explained.
"So who did you say yes too?" Stephanie asked.
"The one who asked me first. That was all that it took to make my decision." She looked at Emily, and walked out of the bathroom.
The rest of the team slowly got ready, the girls were stretching and once again Kenzie asked, "So who was asked to homecoming?"
Lauren raised her hand. "Who asked you?" Jessica asked.
Kenzie started freaking out, and yelled in a sing song voice, "Guys Lauren was finally asked to homecoming, it's her first date."
"Either KJ, or Damian." Emily told Jessica.
"Whichever one asked her first." Stephanie expanded.
"So who was it?" Kenzie asked.
Lauren went into her right splits, "It was the guy who asked me first, and on my defense I had know idea what was going on."
"Stop stalling and tell us who asked you." Jessica said.
"Damian." Lauren mumbled.
"What?" Emily asked.
"Damian." Lauren mumbled a bit louder.
"I couldn't hear you." Stephanie informed.
"Damian." Lauren said a bit louder.
"Wait who?" Kenzie asked.
"Damian!" Lauren yelled.
Immediately the screams of thirty girls were heard. "You're so lucky!" Ashley a gorgeous blond ballerina and Lauren's spirit sister said.
"I am so jealous." Jessica said.
"That is so cute." Shelbi high fived Lauren.
"Y'all are perfect for each other." Stephanie added.
"Lauren's got her first date to homecoming." Kenzie said in her sing song voice.
"So step one in Lauren marrying the Irish man has started." Emily laughed. Lauren pushed her.
"Guys it's not that big of a deal." Lauren blushed, and rotated her hips to go into her left splits. "We are friends, besides, if KJ asked me a day earlier… he would be the one I would be going with."
"What do you mean?" Stephanie asked.
"Well KJ asked me on Sunday after I went to the movies with Libby, and Damian asked me on Saturday after my soccer game."
"I see." Emily said, "So if they asked you on the same day…" She trailed off.
"The one who asked me first, I would say yes to. I am not going to be rude." Lauren informed as she rotated her hips towards the center, to go into her middle splits.
The girls finished practice, still gushing about how Lauren was going to go to homecoming with the hottest junior.
When Lauren finally got home, she lay on her bed thinking, about who she really liked. She came to the decision Damian was a friend. Little did she know her heart would be soon be taken over by his Irish charm, whether she liked it or not.

Chapter 22- Disappearing Act
Saturday, Lauren had another game. KJ, and Damian both got their early.
"Hey KJ!" Damian called.
"Hey D. Thought I would finally see Lauren playing soccer. I heard she is really good."
"Yeah, she has never let a ball past her."
"What do you mean?"
"She has saved every ball; no one has ever scored on her." Damian explained.
"So she is good."
"Yeah, best goalie in the state, I have been playing footy, I mean soccer for a long time, it's huge in Ireland, and I could not score on her. And guy players are more aggressive."
"Why are guys more aggressive?" KJ asked.
"I guess the same reason they are more aggressive in basketball too."
"I see what you mean."
"Yeah." Damian replied while a few of the girls started to arrive.
"I have a question." KJ started. Damian gulped he had a feeling he knew what the question was. "Why did you ask Lauren to homecoming? You have known her for a week. Plus you knew she likes me, why did you do it?" KJ inquired, his slate blue eyes piercing Damian.
Damian was not about to tell a small underlying reason he was supposed to be forgetting, but the big reason. He sighed, returning KJ's stare with one of his own, "Well you see, when I saw her, my first day here, in the Library, on honestly I thought she was gorgeous. Every girl at school seems fake, but she is just so real, and open. I fell for her, and her smile. And I know she likes you, we had an awkward moment the other day about it. I think she is just going to this dance with me as friends. Besides I can't dance, so feel free to ask her to dance."
KJ smiled, "How open is she with you?"
"She tells the truth, she doesn't hide, she feels bad when she make you upset, even if your joking."
"How is it so easy for you to talk to her?"
"I don't know, I guess, because I just met her, and don't listen to rumors floating around about anyone."
"I see." KJ realized he listened to those rumors, "So you got to know her before you judged her."
"You can say that. But I say you get to know her as well. I mean you are making and effort, by being here today."
"Yeah." KJ said "What do y'all talk about?"
"Just random things, footy, I mean soccer, physics." He laughed. "I have yet to ask her long she has been playing guitar." He paused.
"She plays guitar?"
"Yeah well there is one in her room."
"You've seen her room?" KJ was getting frustrated. KJ was realizing how jealous he was of Damian.
"Well yeah last Friday, I needed a lime green shirt, she told me to come over after the game and she lent me this one. I probably should return it to her some day." He laughed.
KJ did not laugh, "I can't believe she invited a guy over five days after she met him."
"Woah, I don't own any lime green shirts, she was doing a favor, she came home gave me the shirt and I left."
"Wait you were their before her?"
"Well she went onto the field, and her mom was okay with it. Her mom said I could wait in the living room or sit on the bed in her room. I chose her room."
"I can't believe you." KJ was mad, flustered, furious, jealous, and getting upset over nothing.
Lauren had walked up behind the bleachers and heard the last comment. She then saw a tall blond and brunette sitting their. Slowly Lauren sneaked around. She ran to her teammates, "Don't let them know I am here. I have a bad feeling." Lauren said to Eric's friend's sister, and pointed to the tall boys sitting in the bleachers. Charlie, Eric's sister nodded, and got the rest of the team in on it.
"Mate I did not do anything."
"You asked her to homecoming. I had this whole thing planned, and you ruined it." KJ was not happy; his sister helped him plan the whole thing, with some insider tips from Libby.
"Mate, I am sorry."
"You better be." KJ crossed his arms, and put his focus on the warm-ups, which he found confusing since he had did not know anything about soccer.
The game started, and the two boys at the same time looked at each other and asked, "When did she get here?"
The she in question was Lauren and they could figure out who she was very easily. KJ was told she was a goalie and they were long sleeve t-shirts. Damian just knew by what she looked like, and well the long sleeves and bright lime green goalie jersey helped. The rest of the team was in black, and she stood out.
The game ended, and Lauren snuck away, she did not feel like talking to two arguing possibly upset boys.
They noticed Lauren had disappeared, "Where did she go?" They asked each other at the same time. KJ left, and Damian was getting up.
"God she is like a magician." Damian said to himself. "Eric, can you take me to Lauren's?"
"Sure. Any reason?"
"Yeah I wanna know how she perfected this disappearing act of hers." He laughed.

Chapter 23- A Date with a Teddy Bear
Damian was now walking up the path to Lauren's house. He could see it much better in the daylight. Hi knocked on the door.
"Hello." Lauren answered, she was wearing a purple t-shirt with white words on it that said Eskimo Joe's, she had grey sweat pants that said electric down the left leg in lime green and on the right hip was a black number one. "What brings you here?" She asked. She stood aside so he could come in.
Stepping in Damian asked, "What was with the magically appearing and disappearing today?"
Lauren led him to her room; she jumped on her bed, and pulled the big teddy bear up from the side. "Well you see." She said putting the teddy bear in her lap, and folding her arms over it. "I heard KJ say something and I did not want to have anything bad happen. So I asked a favor."
"I see." Damian said.
"I also don't want you and KJ fighting over me, I am not worth it."
Damian saw so many things wrong with that statement but he kept his mouth shut. "What's with the teddy bear?" he asked.
"I don't know I have had it since I was seven. This is my first soccer jersey." She showed it to him. It was purple and said angles with a little halo around the A. On the back instead of her last name, like her jerseys now, were her first name and the number seven.
"Cute." He said looking at the other stuffed animals she had on a shelf above her bed. "Does it have a name?" He asked. His eyes drifted to the various soccer and dance trophies that were on either side of the clump of stuff animals.
"No." She said.
His eyes came back to her, "Well that's a problem isn't it."
"Not really." She laughed. "But if you think it needs a name, then you can name it."
"Is it a him or her?" He asked.
"Damian I am not too concerned with the gender of my teddy bear. Just give it a name."
"Well I don't want to offend it, by giving it a girls name if it is a boy. Besides most names are gender specific."
Lauren laughed and rolled her eyes, "What do you think it should be?"
"A boy." He said.
"Why a boy?" Lauren asked.
"Because he is wearing his girlfriend's jersey." He explained.
Lauren laughed. "So now he needs a name." She emphasized he.
Damian thought a moment, "How about Daniel?" Lauren scrunched her face in disgust. "David?" Another look of disgust came from Lauren. "Doogie?" He laughed, and Lauren rolled her eyes. "I got it, Damian." Lauren smiled then she frowned.
"So I am going out with a teddy bear?"
"Figuratively. I mean you could go out with me?" Damian asked, immediately wishing he could take it back. He was moving to fast. He had known her, what two weeks.
"Well that could be arranged. I just have to make sure he is okay with it." She laughed putting Damian her teddy bear on the floor. "Now about that jersey issue…" She trailed off.
"Wait, did you just say yes."
"I said maybe, I am kinda confused at the moment. But just in case…" She went into her closet, which was on the same wall as the main door into her room, just on the side closer to the window.
"Confused about what?" He asked.
Lauren came out holding a lime green jersey. "This was last years." She said handing it too him. "Well I am confused about liking you and KJ. I have known you for two weeks, yet I can talk to you like I have known you my whole life. I have liked KJ since before freshmen year, I liked him the first time I laid eyes on him, and I can't hold a conversation with him. It's like I think he is jelly fish or something. But I know he is just a teddy bear, wait bad example, a puppy dog, oops another bad example…"
Damian cut her off, "How is a puppy dog a bad example?"
Lauren blushed, "You kinda remind me of a puppy dog. In a good way, I mean you are cute, and you definitely follow me like a puppy. Plus, it is hard to resist not petting your hair, or hugging you."
Damian laughed, "So I am now a teddy bear…"
"You named him." Lauren defended.
"And a puppy good to know." He finished.
"KJ is, well I don't know he is very nice. I found that out when I asked him to sadies last year."
"Sadies?" Damian raised an eyebrow.
Lauren laughed, "Girls ask the guys. It is casual not as formal as homecoming."
"Why did you laugh at my question?" He asked raising his other eyebrow.
Lauren tried really hard not to giggle, but she did, "Oh well the faces you make are so funny, raising your eyebrow, and they are just cute."
"I see, so now I am a teddy bear, a puppy dog, and I look funny. I am beginning to wonder if this relationship is going to last." He laughed.
"We are not in one." Lauren reminded. "But I do like to poke fun at the people I know the best. And if I think I go too far, I always feel really guilty and apologize. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings."
"It's fine. I can handle quite a few jokes." He laughed. "So what's with all those trophies?"
"The ones on right closest to the bookshelf are mine, from my various years of dance, and soccer and the ones on the left closest to my calendar are my sister's also for dance and soccer."
"Why are your sister's trophies in your room?" he asked.
"This used to be hers, when she moved to an apartment to go to law school I got this room, and my old room is the guest room."
"Oh. You and your sister close?"
"Yeah." Lauren smiled, "What about you, any siblings?"
"Uh, a brother and a sister, both fairly close to your sister's age it seems."
"That's cool." Lauren said.
Damian was looking at the jersey he had been given. It was a goalie jersey, but this one was different she had said it was last years. The C was on the right arm, her name and number were on the back in white lettering, and on the front in black lettering were the words Electric Shock, and underneath was a lightening bolt. "Thanks for the jersey."
"No problem."
"I guess that means I can give you back your other shirt? When do you want this one back?" He asked.
"Keep the jersey, and just when ever you get it clean, or if you think laundry will be a problem, just give it to me now." Lauren realized she had just made a mistake in saying that.
For right then and their, Damian stripped the shirt off, revealing his defined chest, and abdomen. He was like a rock, he was not flexing but Lauren counted six abs. She also noticed the top of bright red boxers over his shorts. Her gazing at his abs and chest was only a split second for she covered her eyes, "Woah their cowboy, I did not mean it like that."
Damian laughed, he quickly put the new green Jersey on, it had a silky feel, and smelled of the ocean, and a smell he could not describe, but it was an intriguing smell. "Sorry." He apologized. "Well now that I am teddy bear, a puppy, I have a funny face, and I am cowboy, may I ask where I can put this?"
Lauren laughed, "You forgot you are a soccer player."
"That must have escaped my mind." He laughed with her.
Lauren pointed to the door to the right of the bookshelf, and the left of her vanity, which was really a desk. "Through that door, it is the kinda sideways looking door, in front of the toilet, all the way at the other end."
Damian opened the door. He purposely pointed to every door; accept the one she described, making her frustrated, and making her laugh. He finally put the shirt in the hamper. "Nice bathroom." He commented, coming out of the green and blue bathroom. He looked at the guitar, "How long have you played?"
"Not long, I can play a few songs. But I am better at flute."
"Flute?"
"Yeah flute." She said.
"That's cool. Can you sing?"
Lauren laughed, "I guess." She laughed again.
"Damian sat on the bed next to her, he had been standing the whole time, "Well," He turned towards her, "Let's here it then."
"Here what, me sing, oh no, you would not want that."
"Come on, you sound like you would have a good voice." He encouraged.
"I don't know." She scooted away from him a little.
He scooted closer to her, "I would be the only one to ever hear it." He gazed at her his bright blue eyes pleading.
"See what I mean, you have the puppy look perfected." Lauren said trying to change the subject.
"Stop trying to change the subject. I am gonna bug, ya and give ya this lovely puppy face, until ya sing for me." Damian said poking her, making her squeal. "What was that? It did not sound normal."
"Cause it wasn't normal." She blushed. Damian poked her again, and again she squealed. He got a devilish grin.
"So are you ticklish?"
"No." Lauren badly lied.
"Really now?" His devilish grin was getting more devilish, by the second.
"I know what you're thinking, and I do not really like it." Lauren said, getting closer to the edge of the bed. Damian was getting closer to her, his large hands up in the air.
Lauren curled up into a ball, as Damian's hands landed on her hips. He started to tickle her. He lifted her up a little to get away from the edge of the bed. Lauren was laughing. "Damian, stop I can't breathe." This was somewhat true, Lauren was still laughing but there was no sound, because she could not breathe. Damian kept on tickling her. She started to kick; she was getting very sore from all the laughing.
Damian's deep roar of a laugh was making Lauren laugh harder. Both of them were laughing, Damian was not letting up on the tickling one bit. Lauren was crying she was laughing so hard.
Finally she managed to say, "Damian, please stop."
Damian stopped, "The magic word always works." He gave and evil grin. Lauren hit him.
"Ow." His stomach rumbled.
"Are you hungry?" Damian nodded. "Follow me." She led him out of the room. In the living room they noticed Eric watching Lord of the Rings. "Eric?" Lauren asked.
"Well I am not going to waste gas; plus your mom said it was fine." Lauren nodded, and led Damian into the kitchen. It was a peach color, and very tropical looking.
"What would you like?" Lauren asked.
"You sure it's okay, I mean Eric and I could just go out to eat somewhere." Damian suggested.
"You're fine. Easy to make things, we have pizza, mac and cheese, uh, sandwiches…" She trailed off.
"Pizza sounds good." Damian said, well it sounded the best out of the things Lauren mentioned. He did not really like pizza. Lauren took the pizza out, and prepared it.
As they waited Lauren asked, "So just to be sure, we are still friends, well at least till I get unconfused."
Damian looked at her he frowned, "Well yeah, I guess, but until then you can just go on dates with your teddy bear." Lauren hit him.

Chapter 24- The Art of Conversation
Monday came, and Lauren was no longer confused, she knew she and KJ could never have had that much fun, she knew that she and KJ could not talk even for five seconds. She had made up her mind.
Damian came walking up the stairs, "Hello." He greeted.
"Hello." Lauren frowned.
"What's the matter?" he asked sitting down.
"My teddy bear dumped me." She said looking into his blue eyes.
"Sorry to hear that. But you know I heard there was another teddy bear in town, who is free."
"Really." Lauren said, her eyes twinkling.
"Yeah, and he told me to give you this." With that Damian leaned in, and gently kissed Lauren on the lips. She hugged him.
"So it's official." Emma said walking up.
Damian broke away, "You could say that." He smiled.
"Did I just see what I think I saw?" Libby asked sitting down next to Emma. "Lauren you skipped like stages like two through eight."
Damian raised and eyebrow and Lauren broke out laughing.
As Damian was deciding it was best not to ask; KJ walked up, the air got tense, and Lauren and Damian looked at each other then at KJ.
"Great game on Saturday." He said sitting down.
"Thanks for coming." Lauren said. "It means a lot."
"Do you think sometime you could tell me a little bit about how soccer works? I was kind of confused."
"Oh yeah sure, no problem." Lauren looked at Damian his eyes gave his approval, "How about today during lunch or back work."
As lunch drew near, Lauren regretted telling KJ she would explain soccer to him. It wasn't really that hard. Lunch came closer and closer, KJ was sitting at a table alone; Lauren joined him. She had never done that, she got a few butterflies in her stomach.
Se quickly reminded herself, she was going out with Damian, and these nerves should go away, "Hello."
"Hey. So tell me about soccer."
"Well honestly it is not that hard. You pass the ball and try to score. You always look for open space."
"So nothing to complicated like football."
Lauren laughed, "Nope nothing like that."
"How long have you played soccer?"
"Since I was really little, maybe four or five." She told him.
"Wow that young, when did you have time for anything else?"
"Well at that age, it is mostly for fun. It wasn't till about fourth grade did I start select."
"So you try out for the team."
"Yeah, we are third best in the state."
"That is so cool. How long have you danced."
"Since I was three, not straight through, but pretty much my entire life."
"What dance are y'all doing at the pep-rally this Friday?" KJ asked.
Lauren was beginning to realize this was the longest conversation she had ever had with KJ, "It's a secret, we are not allowed to tell, but am sure one of the freshmen leaked it out."
"Freshmen tend to do that." He and Lauren laughed.
Now it was Lauren's turn to ask the questions, "How long have you played basketball?"
"I guess about as long as you have played soccer, although I have never gotten that good. Compared to you I suck. Well you know what I mean."
Lauren laughed, "You don't suck, you are still learning, in fact so am I. Just give it some time. I mean I did go to all your home JV games last year. You definitely did not suck."
KJ blushed, "Thanks."
"So art, what do you like best sketching, painting, abstract…?" Lauren trailed off.
"I guess I like painting and sketching the best. Do you like art?"
"Yeah kind of. I mean I draw for fun, and Mrs. Cox told me to take studio art, but that is all a matter of opinion."
"Could I see your work?" KJ asked.
Lauren hesitated, "Sure."
The two got up and threw their lunches away, they walked up stairs, and Lauren got her back pack. Opening it up, she pulled out a green sketch pad. "I am only going to show you the sketches I think are decent; I don't really think any are that great."
She searched through the sketch book to find one. KJ's mouth dropped, "Have you ever taken art lessons."
"Well besides the one trimester in middle school, no."
"Mrs. Cox is right, you should be in art."
Lauren blushed, and flipped to another one, KJ was in shock. He nodded for her to go to another one. She did. "Those are all my good ones."
"I have a feeling you have tons more that are just as amazing as those." KJ said.
Lauren blushed again; she was putting the book back in her bag when it dropped. It opened to a picture. KJ picked it up. Lauren's heart beat picked up. This was the one picture she did not want him to see. KJ examined it for a bit, "Is this me?" He asked.
Lauren blushed, "Uh yeah, but I promise it is not stalkerish at all."
KJ laughed, "I find it quite flattering. And the drawing is amazingly accurate."
Lauren blushed a deep crimson, "Thanks."
He handed the book to her; she gently took it from him. But it was almost as if he did not want to let go of it. It was almost as if he wanted to see her other sketches. She put the book in her bag. Damian came walking up. "Hey mate, you understand footy, I mean soccer now. I am not going to get used to that. I have said soccer maybe once, with out thinking about it." He laughed.
"She gave me the basics." KJ explained, "And who knows you might start a trend with the footy thing, all the girls wearing the bows that you see, is because of Lauren. No lie, she started wearing bows and the next week everyone was wearing bows." He laughed.
"I did the drill team girls told me they bought bows because I had them." She laughed.
"So you're a trend setter." He said.
"Well I wouldn't say that." Lauren winked, Damian got the joke. She was making a nod to the puppy, and teddy bear, and cowboy thing.
During history Damian asked, "What were you showing KJ?"
Lauren hesitated, but looking into his blue eyes she could not lie, "Well we started talking about art, and I showed him some of my sketches."
"Could I look at them some time?" Damian asked. Lauren blushed and nodded.
Damian smiled.

Chapter 25- That Came out Wrong
Weeks had passed, and the homecoming game was Friday, and the dance was on Saturday. Lauren nicely reminded Damian that they had a dress up week, where each day had a theme and they had to get a costume to match.
Lauren and Damian decided to do their costumes together. On Monday, which was occupation day, Lauren and Damian were professional soccer players. On Tuesday, which was cowboy day, Lauren wore an orange flannel with jeans and boots, while Damian wore a green flannel with jeans and boots. "We are Irish Cowboys." Damian claimed. Lauren laughed.
Wednesday was character day, everyone was supposed to dress up as an animated character from a TV show or a movie. Lauren wore mouse ears, with a red bow, and a red skirt, with white polka dots, and black shirt. Damian wore mouse ears, a black shirt, shorts, and he spray painted a pair of yellow shoes. They both wore white gloves. That is right Lauren and Damian went as Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Everyone thought they were adorable, except KJ, who was dressed as Goofy. This was quite ironic, because he was tall and lanky like Goofy.
The next day, they were supposed to dress according to the theme of homecoming. So Thursday's theme was space, since the homecoming theme was to the moon in back. Damian and Lauren decided to go as Han Solo and Leia, from star wars.
Friday was spirit Day, and Damian really wanted to talk to Lauren in the morning. But she came to math fairly late. Lauren walked into the room, and Damian's mouth dropped. He was baffled at the fact that she could make a t-shirt, jeans and flip flops look so good. Even though half the girls in the school were wearing the same shirt (since it was the homecoming t-shirt), she just stood out. Her fairly long brown hair was gently curled her long bangs were pulled back. She smiled at Damian and sat down.
Class ended, and Damian walked with her to their lockers. "Lauren I need to tell you something."
Lauren turned to him. "What is it?"
"Ah, how do I say this?" Damian wanted to tell her about the email, but he was nervous. "I love you." He blurted, and quickly covered his mouth. He chickened out. But at the same time he was wondering where those particular came from. He had a quizzical look in his eyes. "That came out wrong." He admitted. He thought that this entire conversation was coming out wrong.
"Uh, what?" Lauren asked. Now she had the quizzical look in her eyes.
"No, it was right, but… AH!" Damian moaned.
"Uh, let's go to history." Lauren suggested. They walked to history; Lauren was looking very oddly at Damian. And Damian was embarrassed. He did love Lauren, but he was not ready to admit it. Why did his heart have to speak for him, he really did not like his word choice sometimes. Lauren called it his language, because he always said the wrong word for things, making them really funny.

Chapter 26- Should I Go On?
It was the homecoming pep rally. Damian was excited. Lauren had told him, this dance was her favorite. He and KJ still had tense moments but they were both excited to see Lauren perform. The drill team was in short black flowy dresses, with black leggings. The bangs of their hair were kind of poofed up. Lauren's partially curly hair that looked like the waves of the ocean was beautiful.
There were two formations; Lauren was in the front one. The music started. It was slow. Damian's mouth dropped as the front group started to dance. Lauren was so into it, her facials, the way she moved, she was like a butterfly fluttering through the stars. Her leaps and jumps were beautifully extended. The music changed, and they started doing a jazz routine, Damian was mesmerized. Lauren was a siren, but instead of singing her movement drew him in. But he knew she would not let him crash, if he crashed it would be his own fault.
The pep rally ended, and Damian sprinted, more liking fell, down the bleachers to hug Lauren. "You were amazing." Damian complimented. "The way you move is just so, so…" He was trying to choose his words carefully, but he could not think of a word to describe, so instead of saying something he leaned in and kissed her.
"That's a good thing right?" She laughed. "Hey just wait in here, I have to go change, then we can pick up the mum and garter." Damian nodded, and Lauren went to go change.
A few minutes later, Damian saw Lauren walked towards him, completely changed and completely beautiful.
"You ready?" She asked.
He nodded, "Where do we get them?"
"Well, it was announced guess you were not listening." She laughed.
"I was to, just something caught my eye."
"Oh and let me guess, that something has a name that starts with an L and ends with an N."
Damian giggled. Lauren laughed; she had never heard a laugh like that before. "It's possible." He commented.
All that aside Lauren asked, "Did you just giggle?"
Damian turned pink, "No."
"You're a bad liar." She laughed.
"The Irish don't lie."
Lauren started singing a little song, "Revelation, Revelation, twenty-one eight, twenty-one eight, liars go to heck, liars go to heck, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn."
"Okay, so maybe I giggle, a little. You got a problem." He got all defensive, but he was still giggling.
"No, I think it is kinda cute, ya know it makes me like you more." She smiled, as the headed out the gym. She was guiding him past the middle school cafeteria, on a pretty covered walk way.
"You have a nice voice." He commented as they were turning to go to the front of the lower school library which was adjacent to the MCB gym.
"You are exaggerating, plus I was making fun of you."
"No, I really want to hear you sing for real now, that little teaser left me wanting more." He giggled.
"To bad you are not going to get it. I don't sing." She blushed; he was laying it on thick. She looked him in the eyes; he was giving her a puppy dog look. She looked away, she could not resist those big bold blue eyes.
"Really, please." They had reached the crowd of juniors out side an extension of offices.
"No." She playfully pushed him.
"Come on for me." He bent his knees a little, and clasped his hands, he was begging.
"Not now." She whispered pulling him up. He smirked.
The reached the front of the Line. He nudged Lauren she whispered, "Say your name, and what you ordered."
He smiled, the lady who thought Damian was charming, then she heard him speak. "Damian McGinty, I have a mum, and a garter."
She nodded, and told another lady, "So where are you from."
"Northern Ireland." He commented.
"So nice, love the accent."
"Thanks. It can come in handy." He laughed, as Lauren nudged him. They were handed the mum and garter and headed back towards the high school.
"Even the moms like you." Lauren laughed.
"But I only like, well actually love one person, well I mean besides my family."
Lauren laughed, "And who would that be?"
"Well her name is above my name on her mum, and there is a little heart between the two. She is an amazing goalie, she is on drill team. She has pretty brown hair. Should I go on?"
"Yes please." Lauren laughed.
"Ok, let's see, she has gorgeous twinkling eyes, a sweet smile, muscular legs…" He trailed off, still mentioning the things he like about Lauren.
"You know I was joking, when I said for you to go on?" She half asked.
"Yeah, but I wanted to."
Lauren smiled, and he kissed her on the cheek.

Chapter 27- Did He Just Watch Cinderella?
It was about two hours before the game; Damian was sitting with Lauren in Chic-Fil-A.
"Why do you have to be there so early?" He moaned.
"It is homecoming; we have a lot more to get ready today. The mums, the entire field uniform, and God knows what else."
He nodded, "So I assume you will put on the rest of your uniform there."
"Yes. I think it would like quite weird, if I was wearing my hat, overlay, boots, and gloves everywhere." She laughed. Lauren was wearing a neon pink shirt with the words electric shock written on it, her white sleeves of the uniform could be seen; she was wearing a royal blue skirt, with sparkles at the hem. She was wearing footless tights, and flip flops.
"So that is not your team's color, where did the shirt come from?" Damian asked, stuffing a chicken nugget into his mouth.
"Our colors changed when I went from middle school to high school, in middle school our colors were neon pink, neon orange, black, and white. Needless to say we all wanted the change."
Damian nodded; then raised an eyebrow, "Middle school?"
"Right, your from Ireland the school system is different their. Well, actually at Trinity the grades are done different than at public schools, but that is irrelevant. Anyways, from kinder garden to fourth grade, ages five, well for me, usually six, too ten. Middles school is grades fifth through eighth, ages eleven to fourteen. And then there is high school, ages fifteen, to eighteen. Does that make sense?"
"Well unlike your explanation of the lockers yes." He laughed, putting another chicken nugget in his mouth. Lauren reached across the table, and pushed his head back.
"You're so funny." She sarcastically told him, as he sort of choked on the chicken nugget.
"I know it's a gift that comes with being Irish." He puffed out his chest. She hit his head again. The two of them left.
They finished, and Lauren drove them to school. Eric had dropped Damian off at Lauren's house after school, and since Damian could not drive Lauren was. Damian realized Lauren was a good driver, but she was fast, he swore she went at least five over the speed limit half the time.
"Why do you drive so fast?" He asked.
"I don't know, guess because my dad does." She said looking at him; he could not see her eyes because her black ray-ban sunglasses were shading her eyes.
"You would fit in perfectly in Ireland; we love to speed on tiny two lane roads for some reason. Oh and I love your sunglasses."
"Thanks, speaking of driving, when can you drive?"
"Not till next year; actually almost exactly a year from now. My birthday is Monday, the ninth."
"Monday, how old will you be, wait let me guess, ten?"
Damian looked offended, "No, for your information I will be seventeen."
Lauren laughed, "I am older than you."
"No you're not. Prove it."
They came to stop light; Lauren pulled her license out of her wallet which was attached to her keys. She handed it to him. "August eleventh nineteen ninety two, I am older than you by, what?" She paused, counting the days in her head, "Thirty days, including the eleventh and the ninth."
Damian huffed, and sighed as he handed her back the driver's license. She slipped it in her wallet, and turned the corner. Lauren came to a parking lot, in front of where they got their mum and garter. Parking, she un-locked her trunk. Damian grabbed her mum, which was hanging in the back seat. And before Lauren could get her bag, he already had it on his shoulder.
"Damian, I need to put my boots on."
"Oh right." Damian set the bag down, still holding the mum; he unzipped the bag, pulled her boots out. He laid her mum over the top of the bag; he knelt down on one knee. Then as if he had it rehearsed, or he had just seen Cinderella, he took of Lauren's right shoe, and placed the boot on. He then did the same with her left shoe, and boot. With a swift motion he was standing again, the bag was zipped, with Lauren's shoes safely inside, and he was holding the mum.
"Um, where did that come from?"
"The kindness in my heart." He laughed.
Hand in hand Damian and Lauren walked a little ways. Damian was wearing his garter on his right forearm, Lauren's drill team bag was on his left shoulder, and he was carrying Lauren's mum. Lauren had to stop and get ready. With a quick kiss on the cheek, Damian handed her, her things and headed to the stadium.
Lauren walked into the windowed room, known as the wet and wild for it used to have huge sinks that you could wash your hands in after PE. Now it was just a foyer that led to offices, the lower school library and the high school choir room.
"Lauren, what was that all about?" Kenzie asked.
Lauren blushed, "My boyfriend gave me a kiss goodbye."
"What?!?" She practically screamed. "When did you get a boyfriend?"
"A few weeks ago."
"And you did not tell me?"
"Tell you what?" Jessica asked, appearing out of no where like she normally does.
"That Lauren has a boyfriend." Kenzie informed.
"A what?" Jessica said in disbelief. "And we did not find out because…" She trailed off.
"Find out what?" Emily said walking in followed, by Stephanie, and about half of the drill team.
"That Lauren has a boyfriend." Kenzie and Jessica said together.
Immediately the room was buzzing with questions and conversations about Lauren's boyfriend. "How could you not tell us?" Emily asked.
"It never came up." Lauren confessed.
"So who is it?" Steph asked. "KJ?"
"Well if my memory serves me correctly, KJ is tall and blond, and that kid was tall, but he had blue eyes, and brown hair." Kenzie informed.
"Oh my gosh. You and Damian are going out." Emily was clinging onto Lauren.
"Tell us everything." Steph leaned in.
Lauren turned red, broke away from Emily and began putting her overlay on. "Well it started after a soccer game. We were kicking the ball around, he started walking closer, and he asked me to homecoming. Then the next day KJ asked me to homecoming and things got awkward. So the next Saturday at my game, he and KJ were kind of arguing so I snuck past them. After words, Damian came to my house, and talked to me about why I seemed to appear and disappear. We joked around, he gave me a shirt back, and I gave him an old jersey of mine. And I got confused, because I did like KJ. Well I thought about it over the weekend. And the next Monday I told him," She paused and giggled, "That my teddy bear broke up with, don't worry, it's an inside joke. Well he said he knew a teddy bear that was available he leaned in and kissed me." Lauren stopped.
The girls were swooning over the story, "That is so cute." Emily said.
"You are perfect for him; he is hopeless romantic like you." Jessica added.
"I am not hopeless, I got Damian." Lauren told them, "I can't believe y'all didn't know I mean Emma did, well she kind walked up when… yeah, and Libby did."
"Well I guess we are just out of the loop." Kenzie said. She put her arm around Lauren, who was putting earrings in, "But that won't happen anymore will it?" She smiled.
Lauren laughed, "Nope."
They finished getting ready, as the mom's were snapping pictures. Stephanie's mom pinned Lauren's mum. Mrs. Pfieffer took pictures of Lauren, then all the juniors got together, and there were just about a million pictures taken. Lauren had a few more pictures taken, and they had to head over to the field. The girls took their poms out of there bags, and put their bags on their right shoulders. They headed to the field, set their bags on the track then lined up out side the inflatable football helmet, and waited for the football team to enter the field.
After the football team entered the field. The choral, the best high school, singers sang the nation anthem. The drill team went to their box, and everyone waited for the game ball to arrive.
The game ball was dropped by a helicopter in the west end zone. It was amazing. The game started. Lauren had told Damian, that halftime for this game was really long, but the routine was awesome, and it was the hardest one. Well not really the hardest just took the most stamina.
Damian was growing to like football, but he couldn't wait for next week, because it was his birthday and soccer tryouts.
Damian was watching the field. Lauren was in the middle of the height line his eye was drawn to her. They did the march in, it was all kicks. Damian noticed Lauren's were the highest. They got into a v formation. Lauren was near the front. Then techno music started playing, it is fast and upbeat, and therefore easier to kick to. To Damian, the rest of the drill team became blurred as Lauren became crystal clear, she really did love dance.
The dance ended, but the drill team had to make a homecoming court. Basically they stood in their height line, but instead of straight it was curved. The homecoming queens were different at Trinity. They were elected for character qualities and there was no king. Freshmen through juniors were elected princesses, for three different qualities. There were five seniors who were elected princess, they possessed all the qualities that there were in each grades princess. The senior with the most votes was queen.
Lauren had to stand in her height line for a long time; her arms were up resting on the shoulders of the girls next to her. They stood there for a good ten minutes while all the homecoming stuff was announced.
Finally the drill team walked off the field. Damian was all excited, he ran to greet her. "Your kicks are amazing."
"Thanks. Hey I will be right back; my mom really wants this picture of me and my sister. It will be an opposite thing, cause I am now kind of in her position." Lauren left a few minutes later she was back. "Sorry about that. But now my mom wants pictures."
"Don't worry. And your mom can take as many pictures as she wants." He smiled.
Lauren's mom took a lot of pictures of both of them. "Mrs. Pfieffer, could you take some pictures with my camera?"
"Sure." Lauren's mom replied.
More pictures were snapped. All the pictures were in different cute poses. Damian and Lauren then waited in line at the concession stand. "Two Dr. Peppers please." Damian told the sophomore. He was soon handed to Dr. Peppers; he paid and handed of the drinks to Lauren.
"Thanks." She smiled.
"You excited for tomorrow?" He asked.
"Yeah kind of. I mean I have no soccer game, but I have the dance. So I guess so."
"Is that a bad thing or a good thing?"
"It's a good thing, I mean I get to be with you, but it is always weird when I don't have a game on Saturday."
Damian nodded, "Gotcha. So how is your team third best in the state, if you're the best goalie in the state?"
"When school soccer starts, they have to use the back up goalie, for a few games."
"Oh, that stinks."
Lauren looked at the clock on the scoreboard, "I have to go. See ya after fourth quarter." She winked and headed to the drill team box.
The game was over and the Trojans won. Well the team was easy. Damian now stormed the field with everyone else. He was easy to get along with, and all the football players were great friends with him.
Lauren was carrying her bag and mum; she had changed back into her shirt, and painted shoes. Damian walked over, and locker arms with her. She laughed. He then, like a ninja, moved the bag from her shoulder to his. He also took the mum out of her hand. "Pretty girls should not carry this stuff." He giggled, flashing a gorgeous white smile.

I guess y'all did want it that badly... especially after the teaser LOL Chapter 28- Roses are Red Lauren slept in on Saturday. She rarely got to do that considering she always had soccer. She woke up around ten. Her mom had made her breakfast. She took a while deciding what to do with her hair. She finally decided loose curls would be the best. She walked to her back porch, and grabbed a doctor pepper out of the fridge. She started curling her hair. If she wanted loose curls she would have to let the tight ones fall a bit. Lauren ate a sandwich for lunch. She then started putting her makeup on. She was taking her time, for she had plenty of it. When she finally finished she had about an hour or two before Damian was scheduled to pick her up. She sat on her bed and watched Disney Channel. She was still a little girl at heart. She is what her friends referred to as a Disney Princess girl, basically she was very sheltered. Lauren then remembered she would need to change after words, she also thought she would get a few movies. She pulled out her Trojanette duffel, and pulled out a grey OSU soccer t-shirt, black Nike shorts, and flip flops. She then pulled out her favorite DVD's and put them in the bag as well. She also put a few other necessities in the bag, such as undergarments, and her ipod. She finished packing, putting some food in the bag as well. It was almost time for her to go. She put on her long red silky Grecian styled dress. It was very flattering for her figure. Since she was tall and the dress was long she could not wear heals, so she slipped on sparkly black Grecian looking sandals. She grabbed her oversized black clutch, stuffed her camera, cell phone, and wallet inside. She hoped Damian remembered the tickets. Lauren walked into the living room; she sat down and watched TV while she waited for Damian to come. Racetrack started barking. "I think he is here." Mrs. Pfieffer said. "I think so too." Lauren smiled. The doorbell rang. Lauren got up and answered it. Standing there was a brilliant blue eyed boy, wearing a lovely nice black suit, with a bright red tie. His mouth dropped at the sight of Lauren. "Hello." He said. Lauren smiled, "Come in." Damian stepped into the entry way. Damian handed Lauren a corsage, with a red roses on it. He took it out of the box, and gracefully slid it onto her wrist. Lauren took another box, with is boutonnière in it. She pinned it to his jacket. It was a simple red rose bud, very romantic. "Picture time." Lauren's mom announced. Damian put his arm around Lauren, and smiled. A picture was taken. Damian pulled Lauren closer, and kissed her on the cheek. Another picture. Lauren's mom changed the camera to black and white mode. Damian put his hands on Lauren's waist, and Lauren put her hands around his neck. Lauren's mom took a picture. The color mode was switched back on. And more pictures were taken. Needless to say Lauren and Damian were a very cute couple. They walked outside. Lauren's mom wanted a picture of the two of them in front of the car. This one was a very cute picture, also very sporty. Eric got out of the car, and handed the keys to Lauren. "Don't wreck it. I got a taxi coming." Lauren nodded, and headed to the driver's seat, her mom brought her bag out. Lauren opened the trunk and put the bag in. Lauren got into the car, and Damian followed. "You know usually the one driving on homecoming is the guy. But considering the circumstances…" She trailed off. He playfully hit her. "Let's go to Libby's to take pics with the rest of the group." He smiled. Lauren turned on the radio. But Damian turned it off. "Number one rule of sitting in the front seat with me, I control the radio." "This is not your car though." "It's not yours either, and even if it was you could not drive it." "Yes I could." "On what planet? You don't have your license for America, and I highly doubt you have one for Ireland." "Well aren't you just so smart." "Yeah I am." She giggled. Damian stuck his tongue out at her. Being brave Lauren grabbed it. Damian tried to mumble "Let go." But it failed. Lauren let go of his tongue and wiped it on the seat. "That was disgusting." "That was necessary." "For what?" "Breaking the rules. So I suggest you don't stick your tongue out again." She laughed. Damian huffed and crossed his arms, "I only break your rules." "That's not very nice, especially since I am driving the car." She parked in front of Libby's house. The couple got out, and Lauren's mom arrived so she could take group pictures. Needless to say the second Lauren and Damian walked in the door there was frenzy. "Lauren, you are so pretty, and it all just goes perfectly especially your date." Emma said. Lauren giggled, "Well the date came first. And thank you." "Lauren my mom says you and Damian have to get picture by the rose bushes out side." Libby rushed up. "And you look gorgeous." "Thanks. Damo, let's go outside." Everyone (well the girls) went outside, to see the adorable pictures that Lauren and Damian would take. First there were just a few snap shots, then candid photos, then black and white photos. Damian motioned at one of the flowers; Libby nodded. Emma started videoing because she thought this was adorable and Lauren's mom just thought the whole thing was precious. Damian picked a rose, and handed it to Lauren. Lauren smiled and kissed him on the cheek. She took the flower part of the rose and cupped it in her hands, letting the stem dangle down. She placed it up to her nose and smelled it. Lauren usually did not like roses. But this one smelled different, it had a faint sent of pine, and fresh dew. Damian then kissed her on the cheek. It was the cutest thing the girls had ever seen. Libby's dad took the rose cut the thorns off, and cut it down, he handed the rose back to Damian. Damian gave it a sniff, then pushed back the hair above Lauren's left ear, and delicately placed the rose their. Lauren's mom got the picture, and the whole thing was on video thanks to Emma. The group went inside, and the dinner was their. As they ate, talking went on. Lauren and Damian talked about soccer. So everyone just tuned them out. But they loved their conversation. Damian as still confused as to why Van Der Sar was Lauren's favorite Manchester United Player. But he let the subject drop when Lauren explained for the fifth time, it was because he was a goalie, the best in the league in her opinion, and she played goalie as well. They soon left for the dance. When they got their fast music that you could not really dance to was playing. Damian sat down at one of the tables left over from the freshmen dinner, Lauren sat next to him. "Promise me the first and last slow dance." Damian gave her a puppy look. "I don't dance." "It's not really dancing. All you do is you put your arms on my waist." "Where?" Lauren hit him. "And I put my arms around your neck and you kind of sway to the music." "I think I can do that." "But I assume you won't try any fast dances." "Oh God no." Now it was Lauren's turn to give him a puppy look, her brown eyes twinkled even in the dark room. "Please, just a little bit, not even for a whole song. Not everyone can dance." She motioned to KJ. Damian laughed, "Okay, I will try." The song changed, it was a slow song. "My lady." He stood up holding his hand out. Lauren took it. And he led her to the dance floor. But unlike what Lauren had told him before, he placed one under her arm, and the other he left in her hand. "Put your hand on my shoulder." Lauren put her hand on his shoulder. The song was one of Lauren's favorites. Damian did not know this, but all of Lauren's friends did. So when they saw them in a waltz position they all started whispering to each other. "Now I might mess up, so sorry." He started stepping, one two three, one two three. Lauren followed his lead. He was waltzing with everyone had stopped to watch them. He started to hum the song in her ear, as he pulled her closer. He then started to sing the song softly so only she could hear, "So close to reaching that famous happy end. Almost believing this was not pretend and now you're beside me and look how far we've come. So far we are so close." The music picked up, and he twirled her, and he led her around the dance floor. By now the serious couples had started to waltz as well but the focus was still on Lauren and Damian. KJ was getting very jealous at this point. Damian started singing with the song again, and this time everyone could hear him. "Oh, how could I face the faceless days, if I should lose you now? We're so close to reaching that famous happy end. Almost believing this one's not pretend. Let's go on dreaming. Though we know we are… so close, so close, and still, so far..." Hi finished, and then kissed her. He lead her off the dance floor, everyone was clapping. "That was pretty sweet." The DJ said, "Now let's pick the tempo back up." "Damian. You said you could not dance." "I can't that was waltzing." He informed. Lauren playfully hit him. She then got up to go dance with her friends. KJ came and sat next to him. "I thought you said I couldn't dance. Where did that come from?" Damian looked at him. "I heard one of her friend's brother's friend who she knows and happens to be my driver, while I am hear, saying she loved a guy who could take her hand and waltz with her. She also told me a while ago she loved a guy who could sing." "So you learned to waltz just for her." "Yeah, and you never know when it might come in handy." He laughed. The dance progressed, and Lauren did slow dance with KJ. The final song came on; Damian took Lauren, and put his large hands on her small waste. She placed her arms on his shoulders, the stood very close, and swayed to the music. She rested her head on his broad chest; she could feel his heart beat. He tightened his grip. "I will never let go." He whispered. Lauren smiled. She did not want him to let go. And now she knew he never would. Lauren and Damian were not going to their groups after party; they had made their own plans. Lauren and Damian would go to where Damian was staying, and when Lauren had to leave, Eric would take her home. Lauren got to the hotel with ease. Damian took her bag. And they headed to his room. "I can't find my key." He commented. "What?" "I can't find the room key." He dropped Lauren's bag, and began searching all his pockets frantically. Lauren could not help but laugh. "Uh, Damian, did you check your wallet?" Lauren asked and suggested. Damian pulled out his wallet and sure enough his room key was in the front pocket of it. He gave a nervous laugh, and pulled it out. He opened the door. "Nice room." Lauren said. "Where can a change. He showed her the bath room and handed her, her bag. Lauren went in and locked the door. Damian changed as well. He took off the suit, and put on a pair of grey sweat pants, with a red Manchester United logo on the top of the right leg. He put on a white undershirt. Lauren came out wearing the OSU soccer shirt, and black shorts. He smiled. "What movies did you bring?" He asked. "Just a few of my favorites." She handed them to him, "Pick one." He picked, it happened to be Lauren's favorite. She leaned up against the big fluffy pillows, as he put the DVD in. He then sat next to her on the bed. She laid her head on his shoulder. About halfway through the movie, Lauren switched positions, she placed her head in his lap, and curled up. The movie ended and Lauren and Damian were both asleep. Damian heard something and he awoke with a start, the DVD menu. He looked at the clock. It read three thirty AM. "Ah nuts." He whispered to himself. He tried to figure out a way to get out of the bed with out disturbing Lauren. He looked around, and grabbed a pillow from behind him. He lifted her head up slightly, slid out, and placed the pillow underneath. He went searching for her phone to call her mom. He spotted her duffel. He reached inside, and pulled out a pair of shorts. He took a look at it and quickly dropped it. "Not what I wanted." He crept away from the bag, and spotted her purse. He opened it, and found her phone. He typed the word mom into her contacts. He pressed talk. The phone was ringing and ringing. "Hello." Mrs. Pfieffer's voice came from the other end of the line. "Hello Mrs. Pfieffer. I am so sorry. About how late it is. We both fell asleep. It is really late, and I don't want to wake her up, so she can go home. I would feel bad making you come up here. And Eric has the night off. Do you think she could stay here? I promise nothing bad will happen." Damian was speaking really fast, and Lauren's mom understood about every other word he said, but she understood what he meant. "Damian, its fine." "And I mean, my room is separated by a door, there is this nice sitting area with a pretty big couch and I will sleep their. Wait did you say it was fine." "Yes." Lauren's mom laughed. "Thank you so much, this will never happen again." Damian hung up. He walked to where Lauren was; he picked her up, pulled back the sheets, and laid her down and covered her up. He kissed her on the forehead. He walked back to the living area and lay down on the couch which to his surprise was very soft and cushy. He quickly fell asleep. Damian woke up around ten. He walked into where his bed was. Lauren was still asleep. She opened her eyes. And well Lauren got surprised, and Damian fell to the ground moaning in pain. "Damian I am so sorry. I didn't know it was you, I thought it was some stalker in my room." Damian through heavy breaths said, "Don't worry about it." "Wait, if you're here, did I, did we?" Damian stood upright, "Oh God no. It was like three AM when I woke up after the movie. I slept outside, and your mom was fine with it." He bent over grabbing what was in pain, "Why are your legs so flippen' strong." "Years of dance and soccer. I am so sorry." "You had a very good reason. It's fine." He moaned one last time. Lauren got out of bed, and hugged him. There was a knock on the door. Damian answered it was Eric. "I am here to take Lauren home." He informed. Damian grabbed her things; I will take your stuff down to the car. The three of them headed to the parking garage. Damian loaded her things in the car. "I had a great time Damian." She hugged him. "You were the one who made it great." He kissed her. "I love you." She smiled, and got in the car. Damian stood there for a while; the gut feeling was stronger than it had been ever before. Slowly he turned and headed back to his room. *author note... PM if you are confused why he dropped a harmless pair of shorts... also the movie they watch is man in the iron mask...
