I think there might be two updates in this story...haha comment!!
Lauren shut the door happily. “Mr. Donaldson, she is just a dream to babysit. I love babies.” She smiled over at the baby, sleeping peacefully in her crib. “Sarah is so cute!!”
George smiled at her. “Thank you for watching her.” He hugged Carrie. “We had a marvelous night out, didn’t we, dear?”
Carrie nodded and smiled. “Yes, thank you, Lauren.” She paid her and Lauren left happily, thinking about that adorable baby! Babysitting for the Donaldson was a regular thing for her. She loved it.
“Now, remember, Paul,” Mrs. Byrom reprimanded him, “you need to keep an eye on your niece! She’s still really little, and I don’t want your sister calling me up!”
Twenty year old Paul rolled his eyes. “Yes, Mum,” he said sarcastically. He slammed the car door and walked up to his sister’s house. “Hi,” he said grumpily. “So, I’ll take care of her. You don’t worry.”
She rolled her eyes. “Thanks, little bro!” she said, ruffling his hair.
Paul shoved her hand away. “Sis!” he hissed.
She laughed. “Well, I’ll see you later. You know where everything is, right?”
Paul nodded and watched her drive off. He went into the house, thinking, “Wow, I get to watch a baby. How marvelous.”
When his sister got home, she found him and the baby curled up on the couch in front of the tele, fast asleep. She laughed and tucked them in.
Lindsay held her breath. “Okay. I can do this.” She texted her friend Shannon back. “I’m babysitting the McGinty’s tonight, so I can’t come over. Sorry.”
Her friend texted back almost instantly. “THE MCGINTY’S?!?! Good luck! Hahaha”
Lindsay frowned at her phone and put it away. She knocked on the door. A frazzled Mrs. McGinty opened it. “Hello, Lindsay. Thanks for coming. Damian and I are trying to leave, but Damian and Conor are being horrible, as usual.”
Lindsay’s smile froze on her face. “Well, I think I can handle them,” she assured her. Inside, she was worried. “Oh, no....I’ve heard tales of how horrible they are...”
“Please, come in,” Mrs. McGinty said. She led the way in and glared at Damian and Conor. “Junior! Please, stop pulling Conor’s hair. Conor! Stop...doing...what are you doing to that lego?!?!”
They both stared at her with angelic looks on their faces. Mrs. McGinty threw up her hands in exasperation. “Good luck,” she said to Lindsay. “DAMIAN! Get down here! Let’s go!”
Damian, Sr. came running down the stairs. “Okay, I’m ready, love. Let’s go.”
They left with a few hurried instructions from Mrs. McGinty. Then Lindsay was left alone with the McGinty boys.
Shannon put down her phone. “Ha!” she said. “She has to babysit
the McGinty’s!” She walked up the front steps of the Harkin’s house. “I’m babysitting the Harkin’s. Much better.”
She knocked on the door, and Mrs. Harkin opened it. “Hello,
Shannon! Thank you for being so prompt!” She led Shannon around the house, reciting instructions. Shannon nodded at all the appropriate times and just smiled at Mrs. Harkin. “Thanks, I’m pretty sure I can handle it!”
Mrs. Harkin looked at her knowingly. “Now, want to meet my kids?”
Shannon nodded.
Mrs. Harkin led the way to into a room in the basement. There was a blond kid and a redhead girl. Shannon smiled at them as they looked up. “Hey, I’m Shannon.”
“Keith hit me!” the young girl cried, pointing at the boy.
“No, Becca boo just wanted me toy so I convinced her that she doesn’t need it.” He looked so happily peaceful that Shannon had to bite her lip.
“Well, have fun!” Mrs. Harkin said, rolling her eyes. She gave a few last minute instructions and Shannon was alone with Rebecca and Keith.
