Part 20 Final
Seven And A Half Months Later
Sunday 10 June, 2012
"The sun has never shined any brighter," Damian spoke opening the curtains in his room. "Just because you're back, doesn't mean you can wake me up when you want me to," Emmett joked covering his head in his pillow. "Damian, Victoria is on the phone," Mrs. McGinty said walking into the room. "We're going to the hospital." "Hey, are you having the baby?" Damian asked. "Yeah, hurry up over!" Victoria told in pain. Quickly the Emmett, Gemma, Damian, Mrs. and Mr. McGinty hoped into the car to pick up Conor. Quietly and worried a wee bit, they drove to the Belfast Hospital which Victoria was at. By the time that the doctors allowed the lads into the room, Victoria was holding the baby. Her face was just as it had been the last time Damian had saw her. "What's going to be his name?" The doctor asked. Victoria formed the biggest smile she could. "Sean Damian Emmett Conor Rory McNeil." Damian couldn't talk at what Victoria had named her child, all of then seemed amazed. "I," Emmett began with a tear rolling down his face. "I love you little Miss Crazopia." "Mr. Funteropia I think you're lying," Victoria joked as the doctor came back with the baby. "He's 2.8kg and healthy, meaning you can go back home today." Damian searched his jacket looking for his camera to take a picture. As the small child Sean was, Damian questioned just how it was for Emmett and Gemma to see a new child in their life. "Everything okay?" Damian asked Conor who pushed himself to the back. "Say his name without the names who she added because of almost 8 months ago," Conor whispered. "Sean McNeil," Damian said, not really understanding it at first. "Who went missing the 16 of July at the pier?" "Sean M*****, the kid that was in your class. You still miss him." "No, I don't, I just wish he never left. He was 17, and it was a birthday party gone wrong." "It'll be okay, just don't think about it." Damian didn't feel Conor's pain, he more realised he was missing something. "Do you want to come over to our flat?" Chris McNeil asked walking over. Conor looked down, not wanting to talk. Damian thankfully agreed hoping it would cheer him up just a wee bit. "Emmett wants to talk with you Damian," Gemma said walking over. Most everyone had left the room, only Victoria, Chris, Emmett, Conor and Damian remained. "Yeah," Damian said annoyed sitting on the end of the bed. "You don't have to be mad, seriously tell what's up?" Emmett asked rubbing water into Conor's hair. "Damian?" Conor worried just what he would say. "Say what I said." "What was the lad in Conor's class name who went missing last July?" Damian asked. "Sean M*****," Victoria whispered realising just how bad she named her baby boy to Conor. "Sean McNeil, can't replace him, never can and never will. I can forget about it, but it's just so close, how can I not remember?" Conor whispered. "Why are you rubbing his hair?" Gemma asked placing her phone on the bed. "Have you not seen his hair lately?" Emmett asked whipping the water off of his face. "Stop, I know what those are," he whispered. A smile appeared on everyone as they walked out of the hospital. Little Sean was quiet ever since he was born, he didn't cry but everything was okay. "Does he ever cry?" Damian asked walking into Victoria and Chris's flat. "He will, he's not going to unlike you," Victoria joked placing Sean in the crib. "I'm just going to forget that you said that," Damian took it laying on the bed. "Conor, needs to come here." "Why on earth, cool bed," Conor annoyed walked in laying next to Damian. "I think I'm going to forget about Sean. I just need to get over something that happen last year." Damian pulled on Conor's hair just to see what Emmett actually did. "Tough huh?" "Tougher than his will ever be. It's so weird him still, even after he is married, sleep in the same bed he had before." Damian loved how small moments in his life where things he would always remember. "You two don't know how to move much do you?" Victoria asked running her hand through Damian's hair. Damian slowly moved himself of the bed out to the balcony. He didn't want anyone to follow him, luckily no one did but Conor. Under the balcony, a street laid with heavy traffic. Mist was in the air just above their heads on the 2nd floor. The frames of the windows crackled in the wind. The downpour of rain suddenly appeared. "This is exactly what would happen. You want to see if Emmett wants to go on a run?" Conor asked leaning over the rail down at the street. "Let's just go by ourselves, we can go down to Filini Restaurant," Damian whispered feeling the rain hit his head. The two walked back into the room and ran out the front door, grabbing Damian's wallet off Victoria's bed. "Food?" Chris questioned looking at the time. "Hungary boys they are, not like it's new or anything. Damian is just the intense one," Victoria laughed. Conor slammed the flat door as they ran out the door. "Shall we even ask?" Mrs. McGinty asked. Damian felt the rain pour down his clothes, Conor felt his feelings drain. "Well Conor, you want to go all the way to Filini?" Damian asked stopping at Lee Foods. "We didn't get far and this rain ain't going to stop nor did we wear the right clothes," Conor said exhausted. "Let's just get food from here." "Then back to the flat on Virginia Way? Mum is most likely going to laugh when we get back." "Eh, you don't look to bad yourself with all this ran and water." "Conor, you are one F class kid." Damian paused walking into the shoppe. "Do you think Victoria's life will ever be the same?" "Of course it will be the same, look at Emmett, he got married and he still lays around in your room." "That was the whole point of him, he comes to visit just for the craic, why on earth would Emmett want to leave?" "Because of you," Conor stated. The way it came out wasn't met to. "Sorry about that." "I'll forget about that also." Damian stopped talking along with Conor. Picking out the supper for the rest of the family, Damian shamelessly paid for the food. Walking out Conor held all the bags while Damian walked ahead. "You know I could of paid for some of that?" Conor yelled as cars continued to splash the downpour onto both of the lads. "No you wouldn't have paid anyway, I think I know you well enough." "Seriously here, take it," Conor handed him more money than the food was. "The food was only £21 not £50. Your mum didn't give you this, I know she didn't. How did you get it?" "I've done things I probably shouldn't have done in my life, that's all I'm going to say." The flat door opened just before he finished his line. "I want to see both of your wallets," Mrs. McGinty asked as the two walked in soaked. Damian handed his mum his with a straight face; Conor looked down when he handed his aunts his. "I'm screwed," Conor whispered as him and Damian dropped the food in the kitchen. "What happen?" Victoria asked walking in. "Conor come here," Mrs. McGinty called from the gathering room. "God help me," Conor whispered walking in. "Care to explain where you got all of this?" She pulled out the money. "£150? Why would you need it?" "You haven't been paying attention to me as much as you should." Conor pulled out a bottle of pills. "They say I need to change my mood, be happy more often than I have been." "Why didn't you tell anyone?" "I was afraid of what everyone would think of me. I seriously didn't want anyone to freak." "Why the money though?" "Mum doesn't know about it, she doesn't know I was even told to take these. It's like a secret between the Doctor and I." "You should tell her," Mrs. McGinty handed back his wallet which he quickly tucked away in his pocket. Damian came and grabbed his but stopped at bottle. "Conor, you forgot this," he throw the bottle. Conor smiled looking into Damian's eyes. Victoria and Chris walked in, Conor quickly stuffed the bottle in his pocket and stiffed up. "I'm not going to ask," Victoria said. "It's getting late, you want to stay the night?" "We'd love to but Conor needs to be home tonight," Mrs. McGinty told. Conor felt a worry come, he knew he would be forced to tell his mum and dad. "Mum I'm heading out," Emmett said walking in and hugging his mum. He walked over to Damian and Conor, "Damian, no trouble for me. Conor, tell your mum for me." "I will, she needs to know now," Conor whispered hugging Emmett. "Stay safe." The supper was quickly fixed and all sat at the table to eat. Conor sat next to Damian, both didn't know what to say. "I'll be back," Conor whispered, Damian handed him his phone. He walked outside to the balcony and sat up against the wall. "Hello," Conor's mum answered the phone. "Mum I need to tell you something," Conor whispered. "What is it Conor?" "The Doctor put me on pills and I want to talk to you about it." Back inside the flat, Damian peaked back and forth outside. Conor missed all of supper, enough that the dark came and he had not come back. "I'll get him," Damian told just before they where about to leave. "How did she take it?" "She's fine about it but she wanted me to tell her before. I won't be able to do anything for awhile," Conor teared up. "It'll be okay, I'm here for you." Damian slowly hugged him as the downpour continued to hit them.
Monday 16 July 2012
The weather was misty, the water was choppy, the mood was down. Conor invited Damian to Rathmullan Pier in Lough Swilly, County Donegal. It had been a year since Conor's classmate Sean M***** went missing. "This is unbarring, such a surprise, sometimes this really shouldn't have happened," Conor whispered joining into the group. Damian followed hearing what everyone else had to say. "This happen last year right here?" Damian questioned feeling a down of action near him. It was like he didn't belong in this event but wanted to take part. Everyone was handed a candle not yet lightened. "Here is the schedule," a nice lady said handing Conor a piece of paper. On the paper it read all which was happening that day from 10.00 to 22.00. The time was 12.00 and the fog was just ready for the rest of the events. Benches sat in the sand, just like they were at the church. A podium with a cross on the front, sat behind the flowers and pictures. Damian felt a bit lost knowing be never had done such thing before. "Now everyone take a seat and have a moment of silence," the Father spoke. Damian took a seat next to Conor, a wee bit lost with everything. Jennie and Neil walked behind Conor and laid their hand on his shoulder. The remembrance for Sean went by fast, as everyone told all the bright and great things about him. Jennie and Neil came for moral support of Conor and Damian. "Thanks for coming," Conor whispered hugging Neil just before everyone was going to light the candles. "No worries, Jennie wanted to be here more," He replied back. Conor peaked over Neil's shoulder. Jennie had changed since the last time Conor saw her, he didn't want to see himself change again. "I know why you're here, you heard about it," Conor said walking over to Jennie. "You're not alone," Jennie spoke pulling out the same bottle Conor had. "What happen between us, can we forget about it?" "Yeah, I needed a change, and all that happen during September needs to be a mind of the past," Conor moved her curly hair away from her face. Underneath was a face he didn't recognise. "Conor, come on!" Damian yelled handing Conor his candle. "Was that Jennie?" "I don't know her anymore, I forgot everything that happen." "Good, finally you did." The two, along with the rest, walked down to the shoreline. The fog covered the ocean, making it hard to see. Everyones candle had been lightened and was ready to float away. "Hey," Conor coughed grabbing Damian's left hand. Together they placed their candles into the ocean and watched as theirs and the others floated away. The last place Sean would be seen was now lit up by everyone remember him. Damian walked up to the end of the pier with Conor holding his hand behind. "I know you're somewhere out there, somewhere far away. I want you back. I want you back," Conor whispered standing on the gate with Damian. They didn't jump, but watched as the candles faded away in the fog. "This is the end," Damian spoke bending down to his feet, looking down at the ridged water. "No more Damian?" Conor asked as he saw a hand pull Damian off of the gate.

Ok Jennie! I understand after Sean's disapperance that both Connor and Jen had gone through a serious case of depression and are taking meds to control it! Love the memorial service but what in the world just happened in the last few lines! I'm confused!
