It was a sunny day, the kind that makes you want to spend every waking moment of it that you can outside. My friend Meg and I had decided to do just that. We were walking through the park, sipping our Starbucks coffees that we had bought prior to arriving at the park. Meg was talking to me about some concert she had gotten tickets for. Apparently, she had heard that they were quite, good, though I can’t honestly say I wanted to go, Meg was excited about it, so I agreed. At least hanging out with my friend would be fun.
We continued walking, talking about what we would wear to this concert, when all of a sudden a soccer ball came flying toward Meg. It hit her with such a force that it knocked her to the ground, causing her to black out. Let’s just say, I’m not too good at staying calm when it comes to situations like this. In fact, I usually panic. “Meg? Meg! Please wake up!”
I knelt to the ground, attempting to wake Meg. I didn’t even notice that anyone had approached me until I heard a voice behind me telling someone to get some water from the water fountain. I turned around to see five men standing behind me. The owner of the voice was a tall, older man. The slight wrinkles around his eyes indicated that he was in his early forties.
The one who appeared to be the youngest, a boy of no more than seventeen or eighteen, hurried off for the water, returning just as soon as he left. As he came closer to Meg and I, he tripped over a rock, soaking me with the water. Fortunately, some of the water landed on Meg’s face, causing her to wake up.
The young man’s face turned every shade of crimson once he realized what he had done. “Whoa, s-sorry about that, Miss, erm…”
“Kate…Kate O’Hara . And it’s alright, I can always change. “ I replied, a hint of disgust was detectable in my voice. Though, I couldn’t help but smile as the younger boy smiled sheepishly at me .
“W-what’s going on?” Meg asked, trying to sit up but falling back down again.
I was about to help her when I noticed one of the men start to pick her up. My eyes widened as I started to step closer, yelling as I went. “What are you doing? Put her down right now!” I raised my fist to hit him, but my arm was grabbed by the blonde young man. And gosh, was he strong! I kept struggling, trying to get him to remove his grasp from me, but I grew tired. Once I stopped, the young man loosened his grip, giving me the perfect opportunity to get away. But ,he just grabbed me again.
“Hey, just settle down. Me and my friends are only trying to help. My name’s Keith.” He said in a calm voice.
“Well, Keith, I don’t want your help!” I spat. “I want your friend to put my friend down!” I have to admit, I was getting pretty tired of this. Keith started to pull me along with him, but I stood my ground and stopped, hoping he would let me go.
“If you want it that way, okay then!” He said as he picked me up. It was pretty hard for me to get loose seeing as I am 5’2 and he was practically a foot taller then I was.
“Put me down!” I said firmly, glaring up at the taller man.
“Only if you stop hitting my friend! We are just trying to help you!” He said, putting me down, but not letting go of my wrist. We walked towards the bench that Meg had been placed on, getting there just in time for her to begin waking up.
“What’s all the screaming about, Kate?” Meg asked.
“Nothing!” I exclaimed quickly.
“Nothing?” She asked. “Guys, could you tell me why Kate was screaming? Wait, first tell me your names, please.”
“Well, I’m Keith.” The blonde one who had grabbed me said.
“I’m Paul.” The one who had carried Meg spoke up.
“M’name’s Damian.” The youngest one said, smiling.
The older, bald man stuck his hand out, a warm smile gracing his features. “I’m George.” He said in a thick Scottish accent.
“And I’m Ryan. ‘Tis a pleasure to meet you.” Said the shorter, dark haired one.
“Well?” Keith started, but immediately shut his mouth once he saw the glare that he was receiving from me.
“Okay, Kate, you just sit down and cool off while Keith tells me what happened, okay? Paul, could you sit beside her? She has and Irish temper, and she might come after Keith if you don’t watch her..”
“I do not have an Irish temper!” I replied defensively. I crossed my arms with a “hmph”.
“Well, ya see, ya got hit in the head with a football, er, soccer ball, I guess that’s what it is here. Anyway, it knocked ya out, so came to help. Paul here picked you up so that he carry you over here and lie you down on this bench. Well, Kate here wouldn’t have it, she started attacking Paul..”
“Hey!” I interrupted, “I don’t even know who you guys are! It was my instinct to protect my friend!” I was about to get up and walk away, but Paul grabbed me around my waist. “Let me go, please..I’m not escaping, I’m only going over here to sit….away from you!”
With those words, I freed myself from Paul’s grip and headed toward the swing, taking a seat.
Ok here is my new story! I hope you all like! And I have to say it wouldn't be any good if Ambeebee didn't help me with it!! Oh and if anybody has an idea on a name for it pm me or Ambeebee!

(Kate’s POV)
“Why does everyone say that I have a bad temper? Is it so bad that I want to protect my friend? I mean, I couldn’t just let her be carried off by some man I’ve never seen before in my life!” I muttered to myself.
“Ya know, I don’t blame ya for worryin’ about your friend.” A voice spoke up from behind me. It was Keith…again.
“What do you want?” I asked, my voice flat of emotion. I refused to turn and acknowledge his presence.
“I just want to talk to ya, that’s all.” Keith replied, holding his hands up defensively.
“Well, that’s nice and all, but I don’t want to talk to you, so if you’d kindly leave me alone, I’d greatly appreciate it.”
With a sigh, Keith turned and walked away, rejoining the group only a few yards away. I couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty for being rude to Keith, but what did he expect? He and his friends were rude to me first!
(Keith’s POV) I couldn’t help but turn my attention back to Kate. My, she sure is pretty. Her shoulder length layered brown hair cascaded down her shoulders. Her striking green eyes are like emeralds. And those dimples…Gosh, those dimples make her look so darn cute. But she sure is a feisty one.
“So…what did she say?” Damian asked, his eyes wide.
“Well,” I sighed, sitting on a bench. “To put it simply, she doesn’t want to speak with me. I’ll not lie to ye, I was kind of let down that she was so opposed to speaking to me. “Hey Meg, how old is she?”
Meg looked at me questioningly before replying. “She 20…why?”
I guess I was just a tad surprised by her reply. “20? Wow, she doesn’t look 20! Maybe it’s because she a wee bit short.” Little did I know, Kate had just returned to the group to get Meg., and was in fact standing right behind me. She had heard every word. I was in DEEP trouble.
“Listen here, Keith. Just because I’m 5’2 does not mean I’m young! Yeah, I’m short and I’m 20! And you! You’re what, 6’1? Does that mean your 40?” Kate exclaimed, anger evident in her eyes. She opened her mouth as if to say something before shaking her head and storming off. “Come on, Meg. I’ve had enough of this idiot.”
(Damian’s POV) “Uh-oh…Keith really did it now. Sure Kate was short, but she looked strong. She probably could have beat Keith up if she wanted. Keith had better watch what he says, because I know I’m not saving him.
I glanced around at the others, my eyes finally landing on Meg. She seemed pale, her eyes wide. Honestly, she didn’t look so well. “Hey, are you alright?”I noticed that Meg began to sway a bit. Before she fell, I hurried over to her and caught her in my arms just as she passed out once again.
“Ryan! Call an ambulance! Hurry!” I exclaimed.
Kate came rushing back over to us, her eyes were filled with worry and concern. “Oh my gosh, Meg, wake up!” Kate’s eyes were brimming with tears as she looked up at me. “Did anyone call an ambulance?”
“I did just now.” Ryan spoke up as he walked over to us. “They’re on their way.”
(Kate’s POV) Waiting. That’s all that I have done for the past hour and I had the feeling I’d continue to wait for quite some time. The waiting room was quiet all except the sound of the quiet whispers of the five men that had so rudely pushed themselves into my live merely hours ago.
“She’ll be fine, don’t worry.” Keith said, taking a seat beside me. “D’ya want to get some coffee with me while we wait?”
“I think I’ll just wait here, thanks.” I replied shortly, hoping he’d take a hint and leave me alone. Unfortunately, this boy has no common sense.
“That’s alright, we can just wait here then..” Keith replied. “So, what are some things you like to do?”
“Nothing. I’m a very boring person.” I said, not meeting his gaze.
“Ah, I don’t believe that. There must be something you like to do, yeah? Do ya like to sing, maybe?” He asked. Man, was he persistent!
“I sing a little, though not very well, mind you. I do like to play soccer, though.” I replied, finally giving in and having a conversation with this young man.
“You should tell Damian, he’d love that. I don’t know the first thing about football, er…soccer, to be honest. I’d much rather spend my time surfing. Ya ever been surfin’?”
“No.” I mumbled, trying to avoid those beautiful greenish blue eyes of his.
“Well.” Keith started, pausing before he continued. “Would ye like to learn?”
“I don’t know, I…” Before I could finish, the doctor came into the waiting room to inform us that Meg could go home soon.
Here ya go! I'll think about Kate and Paul!

Megs POV)
“Man, I didn’t know that getting hit in the head with a soccer ball could do so much damage.” I said, attempting to break the awkward silence.
“Yeah,uh, sorry about that.” Damian said, smiling sheepishly at me. He looked down at his lap, rubbing the back of his neck and looking away, obviously embarrassed.
“That’s alright, I was passed out for most it anyway.” I said, making everyone chuckle a bit. Well, everyone except for Kate, that is. She looked upset that she had to sit next to Keith. She hates when I play matchmaker... (Kate’s POV)
“I can’t believe I’m stuck sitting next to HIM!” I thought angrily, sending a side glare towards Keith’s direction.
“So, Kate, I heard you like playing soccer!” Damian said to me, his eyes full of interest.
“Yeah, I do.” I said, smiling at him.
“Cool! Do you want to play with us sometime?” He asked me, hopefully
“I don’t…” I started to say, but Meg cut me off.
“Of course she would! She’s really good! I go to her games all the time. She’s the best out there.” Meg said enthusiastically.
“Meg, I’m not that good.” I said, biting my lip and hoping the conversation would go elsewhere.
“Well, anyone could beat Keith! He’s terrible at footy, ah… I mean soccer.” Damian said elbowing Keith.
“Well, when do you want to play? We should probably wait till Meg is feeling better.” I asked, with a plan scheming in my head.
“Oh, go ahead and play! I’ll just watch.” Meg said, smirking.
“Ok,” Damian said, a smile fixed upon his lips, “ lets head over to the park now then. I can’t wait to see how good you are.”
At the park:
(Paul’s POV)
“Well, I think the teams should be Kate and I against Damian and Keith.” I spoke up, looking at Kate. I couldn’t help but smile as she met my gaze
“Well, that sounds fine, but what about George, Ryan and Meg?” asked Damian, glancing at the others.
“I was just going to watch with Meg, well if you lads could get along without me, that is?” George said, a glint of mischief in his eyes.
“And I’m going back to the hotel to rest. After today, I’ll need me energy for tonight!” Ryan said. He bade us all goodbye before leaving.
“Well, since George isn’t playing, I think it should be Kate and I. Damian, you can play with Paul.” Keith said giving Paul a look that said, “back off buddy.”
“The teams are going to be Damian and I against Paul and Keith, is that alright with you Damian?” Kate said, settling the matter.
“That sound’s great!” he said looking at Keith then I, giving us a huge smile. I couldn’t help but laugh at the young lad. We got settled, and just as we were about to start George’s cell went off. “Hey, guys, bad news.” George said, closing his phone and returning it to his pocket. “We have to be back in a half an hour.”
“Awe! Well, can we at least see you kick at the goal?” Damian asked Kate. “Please?”
“I think Meg and I should be leaving too.” Kate said to Damian. Damian gave her his puppy dogface, a huge pout forming on his lips.
“Well alright, does someone want to get in the goal? Ooh, how about Keith?” She said, smirking. My hopes began to sink, but then I realized that Kate is still mad at Keith. She just wants him in the goal for only one reason.
“Sure.” He said, smiling at Kate and heading toward the goal
Here's the next part, and we hope you all like it.

Chapter 3 “This is going to be fun!” I thought to myself, smirking at Keith’s smiling face.
“Ok, Kate, let see what you got.” Keith said. I bet he was thinking, “She’s so short she probably can’t even kick it this far!”
“Are you sure your ready for this?” I asked him. I saw Damian chuckling to himself on the sidelines. Keith nodded, smiling. “Well alright, then!” I ran up to the ball and kicked it with such a force that it almost hit Keith in the head. Fortunately (or unfortunately), Keith screamed and moved out the way. By now Damian was on the ground laughing at what he just saw.
“This is going to fun!” I thought as Damian set the ball up for me to kick. As I ran to kick the ball, I stepped in a hole. As my ankle turned over, I fell to the ground, wincing in pain.
“Kate, are you okay?” Damian asked me, his expression filled with concern.
“I-I think I sprained my ankle.” I said, trying to keep my tears from falling. This was difficult because it hurt so badly.
“Let me have a look at, Lass.” Said George as he and Meg came running over. “It’s beginning to swell pretty badly, you’d better have that checked out.” He said as he gently moved my ankle around.
“Can ya walk?” Keith asked me, offering his arm. His eyes were filled with concern.
“I probably could if Meg helped me.” I said, hoping they would get the hint that I didn’t want them to help me. As I stood up, I felt my ankle give out. If Paul hadn’t have been there to catch me, I would have fallen. “I said I can walk so let me, please.” I said firmly, though pain was shooting through my ankle.
“Kate, please let them help you!” Meg said, looking at me. “You can barely walk! “I’m fine!” I replied, attempting to get away from Paul. He only held his arms around me tighter, lifting me up so that none of my weight was on my bad foot. “Now, don’t be so difficult, Love. I’m only trying to help you.” Paul said in a quiet voice.
Though I didn’t want his help, I had to admit he was making it much easier for me as he was practically carrying me toward the car. Before I knew it, we had reached the car, and Paul had helped me into the passenger seat. “You’d better get that checked out.” He said, looking down at my swollen and purple ankle. “It only looks sprained, but it’s better to know for sure.” I nodded, looking past Paul to see Keith. And boy was he fuming! “Ya okay in there Kate? Do ya need me to take you to the hospital?” “I’m fine.” I replied shortly, smirking through my pain. “Besides, you have somewhere to be, don’t you?”
Here is the next part! It's ok CB Keith's fine! Just a little upset about Paul!!!

Chapter 4 at the hospital
(Kate’s POV)
Paul and Keith both kept insisting that they take me to the hospital, like I had a choice in the matter, anyway. Meanwhile Damian and George took Meg home. I think Meg has a tad bit of a crush on Damian. She seemed awful happy about him taking her home.
“Well, guys, you umm… can go now. I can call my parents and have them pick me up.” I said to Paul and Keith, hoping they would leave. They were starting to make me feel extremely uncomfortable. “ Oh, you can go ahead Paul. Why don’t you go back? I can take Kate home!” Keith said almost glaring at Paul. Boy, he just doesn’t quit, does he?
“That’s alright, Keith-o-boy, I’ll stay and you can go!” He said, returning the glare.
“Ok, you two! I’m 20 years old and I think I can take care of myself! So why don’t you both do me a big favor and leave.” I said glaring at them both. They just looked at me both looking quite defeated. Apparently, they got the hint, because after a few moments, they got up and left. “Finally.” I muttered. Just as I was about to take out my cell phone to call my parents when Keith came back around the corner. “Hey, Kate..I, um, I know you don’t want to see me, but it didn’t feel right leaving you here, just in case your parents couldn’t come.” He said staring at the floor. I couldn’t help but smile a bit. That was quite sweet of Keith to think if me even after I had been so rude to him only moments before.
“Well, since you’ve waited this long I guess you could drive me home. Hopefully this ankle isn’t too sore tonight.” I said, wincing as I tried to put a bit of pressure on it.
“Why? What are you doing tonight?” He asked as he helped me out to the car.
“Well, Meg is taking me to this concert, called Irish Lightening or something like that.” I said, obviously not interested in the event.
“Oh, you mean Celtic Thunder?” He casually, smiling a bit at me.
“I think that’s it.” I said. I winced in pain as I tried to walk on my own. He noticed and put his arm around my waist, preventing me from falling. “Easy there.” He whispered, gently tightening his arm around my waist. “I wouldn’t want you to fall again, Love.”
(Keith’s POV)
I couldn’t help but notice that Kate was in an enormous amount of pain as I was walking her out of the hospital. As we were walking she almost fell, and my immediate reaction was to put my arm around her waist to break her fall. Thankfully, she didn’t resist me this time. “Easy there, I wouldn’t want you to fall again, Love.” I whispered, pulling her closer to me. I helped her in the car, and started to drive her home.
“Thanks.” She said to me in a low voice. I glanced over, noticing a hint of a blush beginning to creep on her cheeks.
“No problem, so, uh, do ya want to learn to surf sometime?” I asked her, praying that her reaction would be a positive one. “I don’t know I’ve never been surfing before.” She said to me, her voice quiet as she avoided looking at me.
“Well, I’d be there to teach ya!” He said smiling at her. She opened her mouth as if she was about to say something but then her cell phone went off.
“Hello! I’m on my way home from the hospital. No it’s just a sprain. Well they wanted to but I told them to leave. No I’m on my way home now. Well… Uhh, ya see, Keith stayed and is driving me home. Later Meagan. No I think I’ll be ok for tonight. Ok, all right, Bye Meagan. Then she hung up.
“What was that all about?” I asked her, glancing over at her before looking back at the road.
“Oh that was just Meg, worrying about me.” She said to me, smiling her first genuine smile of the evening. I couldn’t help but return the smile before once again looking at the road, though I’s much rather be looking at the beautiful sight next to me. (Meagan’s POV)
“Thanks for taking me home!” I said, smiling at Damian and George.
“Ah, it was a pleasure.” Damian said, winking at me.
I couldn’t help but turn a few shades of red at his action.“Well, erm…bye, I guess.” I said, my voice hinting sadness. I knew I would most likely never see Damian again.
“Goodbye Meg!” They both said. George gave me a hug before slipping into the car. I looked down at my feet, expecting Damian to get in as well. I was surprised to see him come closer to me. Damian took my hand in his, bringing it to his lips and placing a soft kiss on my knuckles. “It was a pleasure to have met you, Meg.” He said, pulling me into a hug. “Good bye.” “Good bye, Damian.” I replied. Damian smiled once more before getting in the car. They waved as George sped out of my driveway and down the street. I had almost lost myself in thoughts of Damian before I remembered that I hadn’t heard from Kate yet.
“Why isn’t she home yet? She was supposed to call me when she got home!” I thought to myself. I was getting worried, so I decided to call her.
“Where are you? Oh! Is it broken? Did Paul and Keith stay with you? Then are you still at the hospital? Well then who’s driving you? Oh my goodness! That is so awesome, I’m so happy for you Kate! Wait what about tonight? Ok, well I’ll come get ready at your house. Ok see you soon, Bye!” “ Ha, I knew she liked him!” I thought, smirking as I went inside to get my stuff together to go to Kate’s.
Ok here it is! We hope you all like it!

Chapter 5
(Kate’s POV)
I stood at my closet, pondering what to wear tonight. I just couldn’t decide, and I honestly didn’t know what would be appropriate. Should I wear jeans and a nice top? Skirt or dress? I sighed, staring at my closet is dismay.
As I stood there thinking, I heard a knock at my door. “Come in, it’s open!” I yelled, knowing it was either Meg or my mother.
“Kate! You have to tell me EVERYTHING!!!” Meg exclaimed as she rushed into my room, duffel bag in tow. To be honest, she was acting like a thirteen year old.
“Tell you what?” I said casually, not meeting her gaze. I looked in the mirror, holding up a red shirt as well as a blue one.
“Tell me what happened with you and Keith!” She said practically squealing.
“All he did was drive me home Meg. I mean, he probably felt guilty about being rude!” I said, rolling my eyes. “And besides, didn’t I catch you staring at Damian?” I asked, smirking at my best friend.
“Erm…maybe. Besides, he’s really sweet! It’s not like I’ll ever see him again away.” She replied, her voice becoming quiet.
“Well, that’s a good thing, right?” I asked. My mind went to Keith. Would I miss him? I guess I would, only a little though. Well, maybe more than a little.
I turned around to ask Meg her opinion of my clothes, stopping when I saw tears rolling down her cheeks. “Meg! What’s wrong?” I asked, forgetting the tops.
“W-we’re never going to see them again!” She cried. I bit my lip as tears started to roll down my cheeks as well. One thing about being best friends with Meg is that I always cry when I see her crying. It never fails. But was that the whole reason for my tears?
“Why are you crying? You don’t even like Paul or Keith!” Meg asked, beginning to calm down.
“I don’t know…You know I always cry when I see you crying!” I replied. “Anyway, if we’re going to this concert, we’d better get ready.”
“Are you sure you can go with you ankle?” Meg asked.
“Oh yeah.” I replied, putting away the red shirt and pulling out a pair of pants from the closet. “I’ll be fine, it’s not so bad anymore. Let’s get dressed!”
Soon, we were all ready to go. I was wearing my nice dressy black pants with a blue top, a little make up and my black flats. Meg was wearing a nice pair of gray pants with a black top and her black high heel shoes.
Once we had finished getting ready, we headed out to the car. Since my ankle was still pretty sore, Meg was driving us to the concert.
“So, Meg, do you know what this band is going to sound like?” I asked. Hopefully she’s at least looked up this band.
“Umm, not sure. I forgot to youtube them.” Meg replied, her eyes focused on the road. “I knew I was forgetting something! I hope they’re good…”
“Well, I guess we’re about to find out.” I muttered.
Soon we were at the venue. By the time we had parked, they had already opened the doors, so all we had to do was find our seats. The task was relatively easy. We were in the front row, a little to the left of the stage.
As I sat in my seat waiting for the concert to begin, I looked around the venue. The seats were filled with fans of all ages ranging from ninety something to children as young as two. Some held posters, dressed in green and wearing glow sticks. Others were dressed somewhat dressy, just as Meg and myself.
“What on earth have you gotten us into, Meg?” I asked just as the lights began to dim.
“I dunno. It sounded good.” Meg replied, her voice hushed in a whisper. “But look, it’s about to start.”
The lights had completely dimmed except the stage lights as music began to fill the auditorium. The fans began to scream as five men in black suits appeared on stage.
“Oh…my word.” I muttered as my eyes landed on a familiar head of long blonde hair. A pair of piercing blue-green eyes met mine for just a moment before tearing away. It couldn’t be him…could it?
“Kate! Is that…” Meg’s voice trailed off as she looked to the right of the stage.
“Uh-huh.” I replied. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. There on stage stood the five men that Meg and I had encountered merely hours beforehand.

I couldn’t believe what I had just seen. Those five men that we ran into at the park today were Celtic Thunder! And from what I could tell, they were quite famous. I couldn’t believe that Keith was a singer, and an amazing one at that! “Hey Kate, where are you going?” Meg asked. I had been walking toward the door of the auditorium, assuming that we were leaving. “To the car? It’s over, time to go home!” Meg shook her head, holding up the tickets. “Not yet. See, when I bought the tickets, I bought meet and mingle tickets. That means we get to see them again!” “No, that means you get to see Damian again!” I muttered. “But we probably shouldn’t stay, Meg. You have a game early in the morning.” “But Kate, these things never last long! Besides, you get to see Keith again as well!” Meg replied, grabbing my arm and pulling me closer to the line. “Fine.” I sighed, “Let’s get in line.” Meg and I approached the never ending sea of fans, all gushing over the four of the five lads waiting to meet them. All of a sudden Meg grabbed a hold of my arm, pulling me over to the side. “Meg! What on earth are you doing?” “Look, if we’re at the end of the line, we’ll have more time with them.” Meg replied. I smiled. Meg did have a point. Having more time to talk to them would be kind of nice. “Alright, let’s wait then.” I agreed. After what seemed like hours of waiting, it was finally our turn to talk to the guys. Ryan, Keith, Damian, and Paul all stood there waiting for us. Bright smiles graced their faces as we came closer. But where was George? (Keith’s POV)
“I can’t believe they were in the audience tonight!” I said to Damian who was just as excited as me.
“I know! I hope they have meet and mingles.” He replied. I had to admit that I was quite hopeful as well I just couldn’t seem to get Kate out of my mind, especially after seeing her in the crowd tonight. Before I knew it, it was time for us to go out for the the meet and mingles. Instantly, I spotted Meg and Kate amongst the crowd.. Good there at the back of the line, we’ll have more time talk now! After what seemed like ages, it was their turn. Kate appeared to still be limping as she approached us.. Out of nowhere Paul ran over to help her. “What was he doing here?” I thought to myself. Paul wasn’t supposed to be at the M&M. Only Damian, Ryan, and myself. Unless he saw them during the show as well… “You shouldn’t be here with that ankle of yours! You should be home resting! You wouldn’t want to injure it further, Love. ” He said, putting his arm around her to help her. She resisted a little, then she got away from Paul. “Really, Paul. I’m fine.” She replied, moving further away from him. “Hey, Kate is your ankle any better?” I ask her, with concern in my voice.
“Oh, it’s fine. I’ve had worse then this!” She said. I guess what really surprised me is when she smiled at me. A real, genuine smile. I think it also surprised Paul too. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Damian run over to Meg, wrapping his long arms around her in a hug. Meg giggled, hugging him back. “Well, I’m happy to see you too, Mr. McGinty.” She replied. “Meg, I had no idea you’d be here!” He said to her, still holding on to her.
“Well I didn’t know you were singing here.” She replied.
“So, um, do ya girls want to go out for some coffee with us? I mean…we’re almost done here, and it’d give us a chance to get to know you girls better.” I asked, mainly looking at Kate.
“Well, Meg has a hockey game tomorrow. And I go to all her games, but maybe next time.” She said replied, though I could tell she wasn’t happy with her answer.
“You play hockey? Can I come?” Damian asked, his eyes lighting up in excitement. Not a bad idea, Damian! This would give me a chance to sit with Kate for the whole game! “I would love for you to come to my game, Damian!” Meg said. Excitement shone in her eyes.
“That sounds like a lot of fun, what time should we be there?” Added Paul. His gaze was fixed upon Kate. He had to just butt his way in, didn’t he?
“You can get there around 7:30, the game starts at 8:00. Why don’t you all come? It’d be fun.” Meg said. “Great! We can get some coffee after the game!” I said to them. They all agreed to that. Who wouldn’t agree to coffee?
At the game:
(Kate’s POV)
“So, are ya ready?” I asked Meg. I loved coming to Megs games, she was really good. “ I think so, I’m a little nervous because the guys are going to be there!” She said to me.
“Oh ,you’ll do great! Don’t let them affect how you play. Just go out there and pretend that they’re not even here. But, anyway, I have to get to my seat now, it’s almost 7:30 and they’ll be wondering where I am.” I said before leaving to find my seat. When I got there, they were all there except for George.
“Hi everybody!” I said. Immediately, Keith and Paul both jumped up from their seats to say hello.
“Hiya Kate! Here sit here!” Paul gestured to a seat.
“Here’s a seat next to me, you can see better!” Keith said to me. I think Ryan and Damian saw the dilemma I was and made room for me in the middle of them. I chose that option. I don’t think Paul and Keith were to happy about that.
After the game:
(Kate’s POV)
“Meg,” I said running to give her a hug, “You did awesome girl!”
“Thanks Kate, it’s always easier to play when my best friend is there watching!” She said to me.
“Meg, I don’t know how you skate around like that, but it’s amazing!” Damian said to her, pulling her in for a hug. "Thanks, Damian. Ya know, I could teach you sometime." She said smiling at Damian.
“Great job, Meg. Now how about we all go get some starbucks!” Suggested Paul. “One of my friends has decided to meet us there for some coffee.
“Sure!” We all agreed. Once we were at starbucks, I ended up being stuck between Paul and Keith, and let me tell you, sitting in-between them isn’t the best.
Paul’s friend, Ellie, was seated on the other side of him. She was a quiet one, only speaking when directly spoken to. She didn’t appear to be much older than Meg and I, maybe 24 at the oldest. Her hair was a deep red, blonde highlights scattered across her hair in various places. Ellie was quite a unique looking one, and I couldn’t help but wonder what had caused the two to click as friends. They seemed to be completely different personalities, yet they got along so well. And if I didn’t know any better, I could have sworn that I saw a hint of jealously flash in her eyes as Paul vied for my attention.

(Ellie’s POV)
The volume of the laughter rose with each word that escaped Damian’s lips. What was so funny, you ask? I have no idea. I must admit that I wasn’t exactly paying attention to the group very much.
It wasn’t that I found them boring. No, that wasn’t it at all. I just, well, I didn’t quite feel as though I was fitting in with them. Everyone seemed to have someone to talk to, except me.
Damian was busy talking to Meg about hockey and such, while Paul and Keith fought over the attention of Kate. So, since I had nothing else better to do, I decided to find interest in my warm caramel macchiato. I watched as the steam rose from the cheap styrofoam cup, forming wispy shapes and swirls in the air.
“You alright, Ellie?”
I snapped out of my thoughts, looking up to meet the gaze of a pair of sparkling blue eyes. Paul wore a crooked smile on his face as he gently poked my arm. I couldn’t help but smile, pulling my arm away a bit.
“I’m fine.” I replied quietly. “Why do you ask?” Wasn’t he busy with Kate?
“You’re just being awfully quiet, there Lass. “
“Aren’t I always?” And it was true. I wasn’t much of a talker. Never had been, really. Especially in new situations with new people. And this new job was not an exception.
“Well, isn’t that the truth!” Paul exclaimed. He grinned once more before returning his undivided attention back to Kate.
That ‘s probably why he invited me to have coffee with them. To get me to open up and start talking. After all, I probably hadn’t spoken two words aside from the speaking required for my job. It was a nice gesture, I suppose. But it would help if Paul and the others actually spoke to me instead of simply leaving me out of the conversations. Why on earth had I agreed to this?
“So, Ellie, is it?” Kate asked, once again breaking me from my thoughts.
I nodded, taking a sip from my coffee.
“How did you meet Paul?” She asked, smiling.
I bit my lip nervously, glancing at the lads before answering. “ I sort of work for them. Well, for Sharon. I’m a hair stylist.” I replied quietly.
“And an amazing one at that! I mean, have you seen George’s hair lately? Absolutely brilliant, she is!” Keith exclaimed, a mischievous glint in his eye.
I felt my cheeks redden slightly a I shared in the laughter. Maybe this wasn’t so bad after all. The air seemed to lighten a bit as we continued in conversation.
(Kate’s POV)
“She’s finally coming out of her shell.” I thought. The poor girl had been sitting in silence for well over an hour now. And up until a few moments ago, Paul hadn’t done a thing to acknowledge her presence. Some friend he is… I honestly felt sorry for Ellie.
We continued in our conversation for at least another hour before deciding to part ways until that evening. The plan was to meet the guys later on that night for dinner. Meg had made it a point to include Ellie in the plans, since Paul had not. Though she hesitated at first, Ellie eventually agreed. I could have sworn I saw Ellie look at Paul shyly before giving her answer.
“So, what about that Ellie girl?” I asked as Meg drove us back to her house.
‘What about her?” Meg question, keeping her focus on the road.
“She seemed so quiet and shy. And Paul barely paid her any mind.”
“Psh, are you kidding? He was far too busy trying to keep your attention away from Keith!”
I rolled my eyes. “I know…I mean, Paul is a great guy, and God knows he’s attractive, but I’m just not interested. And he doesn’t seem to get that.
Meg nodded. “And Keith?”
“What about Keith?” I prayed she wouldn’t push the subject further.
“You know what, Kate. You like him!”
I opened my mouth to protest, but no words were spoken. Meg was right, and she’d see through any lie or excuse I would use to deny it. “Yes.” I replied, my voice almost a whisper. “Only a little, but yes, I like him.”
“Good. Because he is head over heels smitten with you.
“And what about Damian? It’s no secret that he is quite interested in you.”
Meg shrugged, “Maybe, maybe not. It’s not like it matters anyway. I mean, their break will be over and they’ll be leaving soon. In four days, I think it is…”
“And?” Meg wasn’t quite making sense.
“And…and I’ll never see him again, Kate. So it doesn’t matter…” She replied. Her voice was quite, almost sorrowful, and I swear I saw tears glistening in her eyes.
“Oh…” I murmured, the reality of her words sinking in.

Kay guys, this post is going to have to be split up into two, There was just too much info that needed to be (and still needs to be) written. I just finished this half after CP sent me her portion, and we'll work on the other half tomorrow! Enjoy. (Kate’s POV) When Meg said that I felt tears welling in my eyes as well, but I wasn’t about to let them fall. I’d see Keith again tonight, no need to cry just yet. “Meg don’t you have Damian’s number? You can always call him!” I said, attempting to cheer her up. “Well, no. We haven’t exchanged numbers yet.” Meg replied, her voice wavering with unshed tears. “There’ s always tonight, Meg. Let’s just see what happens, yeah?” I hoped Meg would be reassured by my words. I was sure Damian would be giving her his number that night. And if he didn’t, I’d be seriously shocked. “Okay…Anyway, we should probably go home and get ready for tonight!” She exclaimed, her mood brightening almost instantly. I laughed, nodding. “Yes, we should. Though, we have a few hours.” We spent the rest of the evening hanging out at Meg’s house before getting ready and leaving to meet the lads at their hotel. I couldn’t help but hope that this night would be better than coffee this morning. I definitely hoped it would be less awkward. Both Meg and I had decided on casual clothing for the evening. Hopefully we weren’t going somewhere that required formal attire, though I could never know with those guys. “Well, I guess we’ll see when we get there.” I thought as we pulled into the hotel parking lot. (Ellie’s POV) I sighed, gazing into the mirror at my outfit. Was this appropriate? Should I dress up more? Maybe dress a bit down? I had no idea. Paul had given me no clue as to where we would be going this evening. He only told me that we’d be meeting at eight. After pondering my options for quite some time, I decided on a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and a black tank top covered by a light grey cardigan. Surely this would be appropriate. At least, I hoped it would be. “Well, here goes nothing…” I muttered, slipping on a pair of black flats and my warm black coat. I grabbed my phone off the nightstand and headed toward the door. Before I could even touch the knob, there was a knock on the other side. Peering through the peephole, I was somewhat surprised to find Paul standing on the other side. What was he doing there? “Hello.”I said , opening the door. Paul smiled as he stepped into my room. “Hey Ellie, ya ready?” He asked. I nodded, glancing down at my outfit, then looking at Paul’s . He was dressed casually as well, wearing a pair of jeans and a medium blue sweater that fit him perfectly. I’ll not lie, he looked quite attractive in this particular outfit, though I’d never admit it out loud. “As ready as I’ll ever be.” I replied, my voice still very quiet. By now we were down the hall and headed toward an elevator. Paul looked down at me, his eyes filled with concern. “Ellie? Are you alright?” He asked, placing a gentle hand on my shoulder. The contact of his hand to my shoulder caused me to shiver slightly, though I hid it well. “I’m fine.” I replied, refusing to meet his gaze. “Are you sure about that, Lass?” I hesitated before nodding and stepping onto the elevator. “So, I wonder if Meg and Kate are here yet.” Paul chuckled. “Damian certainly hopes so.” “And you as well.” I muttered. Paul quirked an eyebrow, looking somewhat surprised. “And what is that supposed to mean, Ellie?” “You get to see Kate.” Was my simple reply. There was no need in playing dumb with him. He knew just as well as I did that he liked Kate. Paul seemed to be speechless, though he did nod. That was honestly a first. I had never seen that man so quite before in the entire three weeks I had spent on tour with them. Thankfully, we reached the floor of the lobby rather quickly. As soon as the doors opened, I bolted out of them, not waiting a second for Paul. As I rounded the corner and stepped into the lobby, I found Meg and Damian already engaged in a conversation…probably over hockey. I smiled as Damian listened intently to Meg. That boy was smitten! Keith and Kate were in an embrace, and it appeared that neither were ready to let go as of yet. Keith looked happy with Kate in his arms. Those two were definitely meant for each other. Now if only the angry tenor beside me could see that. Paul was glaring daggers at Keith, and if I hadn’t have grabbed his arm, he probably would have charged over there and said something he would have regretted. “Calm yourself down, Paul,” I said quietly, standing in front of him. “Just let them be…Can’t you see how happy they are? How happy Kate is? Don’t tell me you’d make her miserable for your own happiness.” Paul bit his lip, not once removing his glare from Keith. I almost felt sorry for him. Paul cared for Kate, that much I could tell already. But he had fallen too hard to soon. (Meg’s pov) I looked over to my left to see Paul and Ellie just a few feet away. And can I say that Paul looked MAD! His gaze was fixed upon Kate and Keith, his fists clenched in anger. “Oh boy…” I muttered. “What is it?” Damian followed my gaze, his eyes widening once he saw what I was seeing. “Good Lord, he looks like he just might kill him…” I shook my head. “I doubt he’s homicidal.” “Oh, wanna bet? Take Paul’s oreos and see how homicidal he gets! One thing I know about Paul is that when he has his heart set on something, or in this case, someone, he won’t stop until she’s his…” Damian sighed, gently taking my hand into his larger one. “Come on, lets go talk to him, maybe divert his attention.” “Yeah, looks like Ellie could use a hand.” I replied. As we walked, Damian not once offered to let go of my hand, rather he held it firmly, threading his fingers with mine. I have to admit that the feeling of my hand held protectively in his was amazing. What on earth was I going to do when he had to leave? I quickly pushed the thought from my mind as we approached Ellie and Paul. This wasn’t the place nor time to be sad and depressed, and I was determined to let nothing bring down this night.

(Kate’s POV) As Keith and I approached the others, I couldn’t help but notice a certain tension in the air. They were all talking and laughing…All of them except Paul, that is. He stood against the wall, his arm s crossed over his chest and a hardened glare fixed upon his eyes. What was his problem?
“Hey guys, it’s about time you joined us.” Meg teased, a smirk apparent on her lips.
“It wasn’t that long.” Keith muttered, slipping his arms around my waist protectively.
“Hello Kate.” Paul’s voice was low, a cold edge cutting through it. And though he was speaking to me, his angry glare was fixed upon Keith.
“Paul.” I replied, not wishing to say much more to him.
“So…” Damian spoke up, breaking the silence that had fallen over us. ‘Where do we want to eat? I’m starving!”
Meg laughed a bit. “You’re always starving, it seems. Where do you guys want to go?”
After much discussion, and disagreement between Paul and Keith, it was finally decided that we would go to Chili’s . I was super relieved that the guys hadn’t planned on something really fancy. It appeared that none of us were dressed for anything fancy, anyway.
The restaurant wasn’t too far away from the hotel they guys were staying at, so we walked. It was a nice night, the weather was relatively mild, though you could cut the tension in the air with a knife.
Dinner wasn’t much better in the department of awkwardness. Keith, Damian, Meg and I conversed as we ate, even Ellie joined in. However, Paul sat in silence the entire meal, barely touching his food.
He kept his eyes to his untouched plate for the most part, but when he did look up, it was a cold, hard glare to Keith. And if looks could kill, Keith Harkin would be a dead man.
After dinner, Meg and Damian announced that they would be taking off for a few hours by themselves. Meg said something about showing Damian how skating was done.
After Damian oh so politely paid the bill for both he and Meg, the two bade everyone goodbye and retreated out of the restaurant. Damian’s hand was wrapped protectively around Meg’s. Smiles were wide on both of their faces.
“They’re so cute.” Ellie said, watching the couple walk out of the restaurant.
“I know, aren’t they?” I agreed. I looked up at Keith, smiling when his eyes met mine. "And what do you have in store for us tonight?”
Keith grinned. ‘Well, I guess you’ll just ‘ave to wait and see, now won’t ye?” He asked. A glint of mischief was shining in his eyes.
“Actually, Kate, I was going to ask if you would like to join me for a movie.” Those were the first words I had heard Paul speak since we had left the hotel. His eyes were hopeful as he looked at me.
“Paul, I’m sorry. I’ve already accepted Keith’s invitation.” The hope in Paul’s eyes diminished as a sorrowful look came over his features. “But hey, maybe you can find something to do.”
I glanced at Ellie, noticing a hurt expression on her face. Why on earth couldn’t this man see what was right in front of him? Ellie was pretty, and it was obvious she was interested in Paul. Yet Paul was so stuck on the idea of him and I that he completely ignored the girl who so desperately wanted his attention.
“Are you ready, Kate?” Keith asked, breaking me from my thoughts. I smiled and nodded. “Of course.”
After much protest, and Keith firmly telling me he wouldn’t take no for an answer, I allowed Keith to pay for me, though I made a mental note to somehow return the favor soon. After saying our goodbyes, Keith and I walked away hand in hand, leaving behind Paul and Ellie alone at the table.

Here is Damian and Meg's part! I hope you all like it!
(Damian’s POV)
I was excited about Meg teaching me how to ice-skate, I wanted to learn hockey skating but she said I should learn the basics and just skate regular. We were walking to rink because it wasn’t that far away and it was a nice night to walk. “Damian?” She asked. “Yeah, Meg.” I said looking at her. “Did you see the look Paul was giving Keith?” She asked me. “Yeah, I did see the look. He really like’s Kate, all him and Keith do is talk about her, but Paul knows that Kate likes Keith better and he doesn’t like that.” I told her. “I feel bad for Paul,” she said with a sad look, “but Keith and Kate belong together, and Paul is almost 10 years older than she is. Can’t he see how much Ellie likes him?” She finished. “Wait? Did you just say Ellie likes Paul?” I asked her. She sighed and then said. “Boys! Why are they so oblivious to the obvious!” she finished throwing her hands in the air. “Well, it’s not my fault. How am I supposed to know these things. Hey we’re here, lets not worry about them now, I’m ready for some skating!” I said.
(Meg’s POV)
We got in the rink and Damian was really excited about skating. “Okay Damian, skating isn’t as easy as it looks.” I told with a serious tone. “Oh come on, I bet there’s nothing to it!” He said, just finishing putting his skates on, but when he stood up he fell down. “This is going to be a long night.” I thought to myself. “Damian, your skates are to loose, here let me help you.” I said bending down to fix his skates. Then we headed out to the ice. As soon as Damian got out on the ice he fell right on his behind. I laughed silently at him but I stopped when he looked and went to help him up. “Well, this is hard!” He said holding on the my hand. I decided to hold his hand until he got the hang of it. That wasn’t such a good idea because when he fell he would take me down with him. “Ok Damian, let’s try something.” he nodded, “ok, bend you knee’s a little more you look to stiff now push your feet from side to side. Good, good I think your getting it!” I said happily until he fell again. “Ok I’m going to do this!” He said getting up again, I tried to stop him but he wouldn’t listen and this time he went air born, I couldn’t help laughing. Next thing I knew he was getting up and then he started to skate over towards me. So I started running from him. Somehow though he caught up to me. He grabbed me and then stopped me and looked straight in my eyes. “Meg, your great girl, your pretty, your sweet and so many other things and I don’t want to loose you, would like to be my girlfriend.” He asked me I was so shocked by him asking me. “Oh yes! Yes I will.” I said hugging him! After awhile he finally got the hang of it and then we looked at the time and we had to leave. So we walked over to the star bucks where everyone else was waiting for us.

(Kate’s POV)
“So, where are you taking me, Mr. Harkin?” I asked, smiling as I felt Keith’s arm tighten around my waist gently.
“You’ll just have to wait and see.” Keith whispered in my ear, the feeling of his warm breath sending shivers down my spine. I faked a pout and crossed my arms over my chest.. “No fair..”
“Mhmm, it is too fair!” Keith replied. He gently pressed a kiss to my forehead. "Besides, we’re almost there, Katie”
I couldn’t help but smile at his new nick name for me. Katie…hmm, I could get used to that.
It was a few moments later that Keith stopped in front of me. He took my small hands in his, gently rubbing circles with his thumb on the tops of them. “D’ya trust me, Miss. Katie?” He asked. His lilted voice was soft as he spoke.
“Why?” I asked, completely confused.
Keith just shook his head. “D’ya trust me?”
I met his gaze, seeing absolute sincerity in his sea green eyes. “Of course I do, Keith.” I whispered.
Keith smiled his adorable crooked grin before kissing each of my hands softly. “Good.” Keith moved to where he was standing behind me. After a moment or so I felt a piece of fabric come around my head, blocking my vision.
“Keith?” I asked, even more confused now. “What are you doing?” I felt a pair of lips gently press against my cheek. ‘You’ll see, Katie. Just trust me.” He whispered.
Keith took my hand in his and began to lead me in a direction unknown to me. It was only after a few moments of walking that I realized the ground beneath me went from being hard concrete to something soft, something like sand.
“Are we where I think we are?” I questioned. My thoughts were only confirmed as Keith removed the blindfold.
“I, uh, I wanted to take you to my favorite place in the entire world.” Keith replied.
“The beach? At night? It's awful cool out.”I said, giggling.
“Hey, you don’t ‘ave to get in the water to enjoy the beach, Katie Darling. “ Keith plopped down on the sand, grabbing my hand and pulling me down as well. He wound his arm around my waist and pulled me close to his side. “The smell of the salt in the air, the feeling of the sand between your toes, the sound of the waves crashing against shore…Katie, it’s the most soothing thing that I have ever experienced.” He whispered.
I smiled, resting my head against his chest. I breathed in the scent of his cologne, loving the way that it mingled oh so perfectly with the crisp salt air that was coming off the ocean. Everything felt…perfect.
“It’s beautiful.” I whispered. And it was. The reflection of the moon played off the ever moving ocean. The sky was clear, and stars shone brightly in the night sky.
“So are you.” Keith replied .He brought his hand to my face, cupping cheek before pressing a soft kiss to my forehead. “Katie, I think I’m fallin' for ye..” He whispered, resting his chin on the top of my head.
I bit my lip, looking away from him. “Oh..” Was my only reply. I felt a pang of guilt as an expression of hurt washed over Keith’s face.
“But…you don’t feel the same way? I see..”
“No, Keith, that isn’t it at all. I do feel the same way. It’s just…I don’t want you to say that to me unless you mean it, Keith.”
“But I did, Katie Darling. Everything I said, I do mean it, Love. I want to be with you, that is, if you’ll ‘ave me as your boyfriend.” Keith’s eyes were hopeful as they searched mine. He was sincere in his words.
“Of course I would, Keith. I want to be with you, too.” I smiled, hugging him tightly.
Keith and I spent another hour on the beach before deciding it was time to head back. Both of us had received texts informing us that we were to meet at the Starbucks next to the guy’s hotel. I’m guessing Damo was in need of some coffee after an intensive training session with Meg. I couldn’t help but laugh at the thought of them as I walked down the stree with Keith, my hand protectively in his.

(Paul’s POV)
I couldn’t help but clench my fists in anger as Keith led Kate out of the restaurant. I tried not to be angry, for I knew that Kate was happy, but why Keith? Why couldn’t she be happy with me?”
“Are you alright, Paul?” Ellie asked. Her voice was soft, almost timid as the question escaped her lips.
“I’m fine.” I muttered, pulling out my wallet and throwing down enough money to cover both mine and Ellie’s food. Even in my anger, I couldn’t allow myself to forget my manners.
“Paul, you don’t have to do that. I’ve got it.” Ellie said, reaching for her purse. I shook my head, forcing a smile. “No worries, Ellie, my treat.” I noticed Ellie hesitate a bit before murmuring a soft “thank you.”. She stood from the table and began walking toward the door. Where on earth is she going?
I grabbed my jacket and hurried after Ellie. “Where are you headed so fast, Lass?” I asked her, finally catching up to the young woman.
“Back? It’s been a long day, and obviously you need some time alone with your thoughts, Paul.” She replied, not once looking me in the eyes. “Though, I don’t see why you should be as angry as you are…”
I chuckled bitterly as we began to walk in the direction of the pier. “So I shouldn’t be angry, eh? I’ve had my girl stolen from me, yet I should be all smiles?”
“Just stop!” Ellie almost yelled, coming to stand in front of me. Her small frame was shaking in anger as she glared up at me with a look that could kill me in an instant if she so wished. “Paul, you have got to let go of Kate! She’s not interested in you, can you not see that? She likes Keith, and he’s pretty crazy about her too. Get over it and move on, she was never your girl Byrom. Heck, you haven’t even known her two days. So, get a hold of yourself, Paul. There is no sense in this kind of behavior!”
I blinked as her words hit me like a ton of bricks. There was so much frustration in her tone, so much anger that I didn’t she was capable of. The worst part about it was that Ellie was absolutely correct.
“Ellie, I…”
“Listen, Paul, I know you’re hurt.” She said, sitting on the wide railing of the pier. “I’ve been hurt, too. I understand how you feel. But you have to understand that the only way to get over this is to convince yourself that it wasn’t meant to be. “
I came to stand in front of her, looking up at her lined green eyes. ‘It’s hard.” I said quietly. “I fell for her, Ellie. I fell hard, and it’s difficult knowing she’s happy with Keith.”
Ellie’s eyes filled with what I thought was sorrow. But why would she be sad? “I know, Paul. And I’m sorry you’re hurt, I really am, but…” Ellie reached out and slid her hand into mine., squeezing it gently. “But Kate is happy, and I think she’d want you to be happy, too. She didn’t mean to hurt you by choosing Keith.”
I only nodded looking down at our hands. I couldn’t help but notice how tiny her hand was in mine, it was at least half the size of mine if not less. Of course, small hands would be common for someone of such short stature. At only around 5’3, I towered over the poor girl. ‘You’re right, Ellie.” I whispered, looking back up at her.
Ellie offered a comforting smile before sliding off of the railing of the pier. “You’ll make it, Paul. I promise.”
“I hope so, though I may die of a heart attack before the evening is over. You’ve given me quite a shock, I’m afraid.” Ellie looked up at me, her eyes filled with confusion. “How on earth have I done that, Mr. Byrom?”
I chuckled slightly, pulling my friend in for a one sided hug. “Because, Lass, you have spoken more in the last twenty minutes than you have the whole tour!”
Ellie giggled, returning the hug. “What can I say, it was necessary!”
“Twas indeed.” I agreed, “Hey, why don’t we go back to that Starbucks close to our hotel? I think Damo and Meg wanted to meet there after their little date.”
“Hey, be nice to them! They just so happen to be very adorable together, Paul. But yes, I like your thinking, I could use a coffee right about now!” Ellie replied.
I smiled down at her, offering her my arm. “Shall we, then?”
Ellie linked her arm with mine, a smile gracing her features. ‘We shall, Paul.”

(Ellie’s pov)
Paul and I had just made it back to the Starbucks to find that we were the first ones back. Thankfully we arrived when we did, as a light rain began to fall almost as soon as we stepped inside.
‘What would you like?” Paul asked as he stepped to the counter.
I shook my head, reaching for my wallet. “I’ve got mine, Paul. Thanks though.” I really didn’t want him paying for mine after he had covered my dinner that night. It just wasn’t right.
“Ellie, I have it. What do you want.”
I sighed, knowing I’d have to give in sooner or later. Paul was NOT taking no for an answer. “Fine, umm, hot cocoa please.”
Paul nodded, turning to order his coffee and my hot cocoa. I thanked him as we waited for our drinks to be made.
“So, you never told me why you took this job.” Paul said as he led me to a table close to the window.
I took a seat, immediately turning my attention to the steaming cup that was warming my hands. “I needed a job, my aunt is friends with Sharon…so I guess it just happened like that.” I replied.
“I see…” Paul murmured. “Oh, look. Meg and Damo are here. And it appears to me that Damo is holdin’ the poor lass’ hand!”
I looked up at Paul, punching his arm lightly. “Be nice!”
Paul looked at me, that mischievous glint twinkling in his gorgeous, uh, I mean, his eyes. “Maybe I will, maybe I won’t.”
(Meg’s POV)
“Maybe you won’t what?” I asked as I took a seat beside Ellie. Damian went to order our coffees.
“That’s none of your concern, Mrs. McGinty…” Paul replied, quirking an eyebrow at me.
“Excuse me?”
“Oh, I’m sorry, I meant Meg. I’ve no idea what came over me. How rude of me!” Paul exclaimed, still grinning.
“Paul…leave them alone!” Ellie exclaimed, giggling. ‘I’m sorry, Meg, Paul seems to be in the mood to aggravate Damian.”
Damian came over to the table, setting my coffee down in front of me and then putting his arm around my shoulders. “What are you talking about? Paul is always in that mood!” He glanced at me and winked.
I giggled slightly, shaking my head. “Never a dull moment with you two, is there?”
Damian and Paul laughed, shaking their heads. And I was probably correct. Despite the age difference between the two, they were closer than any set of biological brothers I had ever known. It was good that they had that bond.
“Looks like we’re late, Katie.”
I turned around to see Keith and Kate walk in, Keith’s arm was wrapped protectively around her waist. Both of them wore bright smiles on their faces. Looks like I would be doing quite a bit of questioning tonight after we went home.
We all spent the next hour drinking coffees and enjoying the company. But unfortunately, it was time for us to leave. Kate and I needed to get to our houses and get some sleep before the next day.
Since the guys had a couple more days in our city, Kate and I had decided to meet up with Ellie the next day and have a girls day before the evening in which I was going out with Damian and Kate would be going out with Keith. Now if only we could get Paul to ask Ellie out. I wouldn’t want those two left out.
As I drove Kate and I to her house, I tried to form a plan to get Paul and Ellie out on a date. But what could I do?
“What are ya thinking about?” Kate asked, breaking me from my thoughts.
“Ellie and Paul…We need to try to get them together…but how? I don’t even think Paul notices her.” I kept my eyes on the road, waiting for Kate’s reply.
“ But she definitely notices him….Hmm…” Kate replied after a few moments of thought. “I think I have the perfect idea to get Paul to notice Ellie!”

(Kate’s pov)
It was around noon the next day that Meg and I arrived at the hotel to pick up Ellie. She was waiting for us just outside the door as we pulled in. Though she wore a smile on her face, she seemed exhausted as she slipped into the back seat of the car.
“Morning Ellie.” Meg said, looking at her from the rearview mirror.
Ellie smiled. “Morning, girls. “ She replied, her voice quiet as she spoke. She yawned as she pulled her sweater closer around her body. Yup, she was tired.
“Morning, Ells, you look tired. What time did you get in bed?” I asked, turning to look at her.
Ellie’s cheeks turned every shade of red possible as she looked down at her hands. “well, I was up rather late last night.” Her voice was still very quiet.
“Doing what?” Meg questioned . She had pulled out of the parking lot and was driving in the direction of the mall.
“Well, I got back to my room and was just about to get in bed when Paul knocked on my door. He had set up a wii and was going to play it with Ryan and Damian, but they bailed in the last minute. So…he asked if I’d like to play. Long story short, we played Super Mario until four this morning.” Ellie replied, her cheeks turning a deeper shade of red.
“Four?! How on earth did you play that long?” I asked. “I can’t even play for an hour without losing interest!”
Ellie shrugged. “I, well, I lost track of time.” Ellie murmured, clearly embarrassed.
“Mhmm.” Meg said, glancing back at her.” And being with Paul wouldn’t have anything to do with it?”
“Erm…w-why would he have anything to do with it…um…well…maybe?”
“I knew it! You like Paul!” I exclaimed, barely able to contain my excitement.
“No, I don’t…And even if I did, there’s no way he feels the same….IF I liked him, that is.”
“Oh just cut the act already, Ellie. You like Paul. I know it, Kate knows it, and you know it. So why don’t you tell him?” Meg asked as she pulled into a parking space at the mall.
“Psh…Tell Paul? You want me to tell Paul? No, I value the friendship I have with him to ruin it over something that could never happen. He barely notices me as it is.”
I smiled as my plan came to mind. “No, he doesn’t…not yet anyway. Ellie, what would you say if I told you that I know of a way to get Paul to notice you?”
Ellie stopped in her tracks, giving me a look that said I was crazy. “Excuse me?”
“Well, Ellie, what Kate means is maybe a simple makeover would be the key to get Paul to notice you. Now, of course you’re very beautiful to begin with, but, maybe a change in style, or even a hair cut could be the trick to knock Paul off of his feet!”
Immediately Ellie’s hands went to her past her shoulders auburn hair. She bit her lip looking at Meg and I. “I don’t know, guys…I really don’t. I mean, what if we do all of this and he still doesn’t notice?” Ellie looked down at her shoes
“Well, if there’s one thing I’ve noticed about Paul, it’s that he’s a really good guy. Sure, he’s a bit, well, clueless for the lack of a better word. But he’s a great guy, Ells, and I think a part of him already notices you.” I explained. Ellie nodded, though she spoke no words. I think she was actually considering it.
“So, what is it?” Meg asked, glancing at me and then Ellie. “You in?”
Ellie bit her lip before nodding. “Let’s do it. Where do we start?”
I pondered her question for a moment before reaching over and pulling off her thick, black glasses. “Here…do you have contacts?” Ellie nodded. “Good...wear them. You’re green eyes are too pretty to be hidden.”
Let’s just say that Ellie was reluctant to give up her glasses, as well as buying a new outfit. Though, the biggest step was getting Ellie to chop off her heavy hair to a chin length bob that completely fit her personality.
After a fun day of shopping, we all headed back to Kate’s house to get ready for our dates and finish Ellie’s makeover. It was fun spending the afternoon pampering ourselves and getting dolled up for our guys. And let me tell you, when they caught sight of us, they wouldn’t know what hit them!
