Sitting alone in his bed chamber. The red sheets were crinkled. Sad shadows danced on the walls. The castle used to be happy, with sunlight dancing through the corridors. It had been years since the walls bounced with laughter and happiness. A gray cloud, consisting of rain, and thunder seemed to be permanently fixated over the chateau. He got up, and put on forest green pants, with black boots. He slipped a white fitted shirt over his muscular shoulders. Taking his sword by the door, he placed the deep brown leather belt around his waist. He opened the door, and headed through the corridor. Neil spent most of his days wondering through the castle. His most recent discovery was a secret passage to an ancient tower, it seemed to be an observatory for on the walls were charts of the stars. Walking up to a giant portrait of girl he did not know, he pressed the gold intricate frame. The wall opened inward. Neil walked up the spiral staircase, counting the steps along the way. "Five hundred and one." He whispered. Even though he was alone, he whispered. The room was round, filled with ancient books and manuscripts. Walking over to the window, he opened it. He walked onto the small balcony, and took a breath of the damp, musky air. Neil walked back into the room. He noticed a velvet cloth, maroon in color, draped over something. Whisking the cloth away, he revealed a gold telescope. He placed his hand on it, and looked it over. Immediately he took it to the open window. Placing it down, he looked through it. He looked at the forest that came right up to the castle. Looking even closer, something caught the eye of the lonely prince.

glad to know someone is reading thanks for reading guys... greatly appreciated.
A maiden was running. Her brown board strait hair went down to the middle of her back. She was in a dress, that used to be green, but had become brown with dirt and wear. Neil quickly moved the telescope away from her, it was starting to feel awkward. He began to look for what was chasing the lady. He saw nothing. He was hoping he could help the maiden, but sadly he could not. With a forlorn look on his face he turned his head away from the telescope. Neil closed the window. Turning around he studdied the walls of the observatory. Next to him was a rounded bookcase with books. He pulled one of the books out. He turned it over, examining he could not find a title. Neil then opened the cover. The first few pages nothing was written. Turning onto the fifth page, their was writing, but not print like in normal books, it was hand writing. Neil thought maybe it was a journal of the owner's findings. But nothing like that was written. He read down the page, he saw his name mentioned. He tried to find a signature in the book, but thier was none. As well as this observatory being old, it was full of mystery. Neil closed the book and put it under his arm. He walked back down the five-hundred and one steps. Comeing to the ground floor, the protrait door closed behind him. Walking to the end of the hallway, Neil took a left towards the study. He heard a sound behind him, which made him jump. He turned around nothing was there. Why would their be, he lived alone in the castle. Coming up to the large oak door of the study, Neil took a breath and entered. The study was a large room, with a stone floor, and a green rug. Their were floor to ceiling bookshelves, with a gold ladder leaning up against them. Neil walked back into the hall and grabbed on of the torches that lined the wall. Neil walked back in the office and lit the oil lamp that stood adjacent to the red velvet chair, in the middle of the room. Neil set the book he was holding on the chair, and went to the ladder. Neil moved the ladder to a certain bookshelf and climbed up. He grabbed three large books and an ancient peice of parchment. Neil climbed down. He placed the three books on the floor and unrolled the parchment on the floor. On the parchment was his family tree, or what he thought was his family tree. He looked for the oldest date on the tree. He then proceeded to open a book. Just as he figured, his family had not always owned the castle. But this still did not help him figure out who owned the book he found in the ovservatory. He got up from the floor picked the book up off the chair, and slumped onto the old worn, red velvet. Thumbing through the book Neil found a picture drawn, it was a tree, very similar to the one on the large peice of parchment. "Maybe," He whispered, "The person who wrote in this book is the same person who made the family tree." Closing the book, at the thought of the idea. He left it in the study with the rest of the things. Neil closed the great door. Walking down the hallway he heard annother noise, along with a gust of wind, that blew out the torches that always stayed lit. Neil picked up his pace from a light walk to a fast walk. He had never known the castle was haunted, let alone he had never been scared while living in the castle. He had lived alone for as long as he could remember, nothing had ever come in or out. Feeling like something was following him Neil started to run. Neil tripped down the stairs, and blacked out.

thanks once again for reading
When Neil woke up he was unsure of his whereabouts. A smell of damp muskiness flooded his nose almost making him pass out. Opening he eyes, he saw a black hooded figure vanish from his sight. Sitting up Neil asked, "What happened." He saw a dark black cloak appear. The figure turned around and stood still. He was wearing a black fitted long sleeve v-neck shirt. Black pants and a black cloak that had many layers of black fabric on it. The mysterious figure was tall, and seemed to be made of shadows, it seemed as if the night had made the clothes on his body. A deep voice replied to his question, "Look around." Neil proceeded to look around. He seemed to be in the castle but in a part which he had never been in. In fact he never knew about it. The dark voice of the tall figure then added, "Fifty miles inside this god forsaken mountain, no reason why." Neil was utterly confused, "What's going on?" The dark figure turned around in frustration and anger, his hood sliding down a tad. Slowly turning back, Neil saw a gleam of blue that struck him. Noticing the look on Neil's face, the hooded figure whisked the hood back to it's original place. But that blue Neil saw did not go away, every time he looked at the hood he saw the blue. The figure then replied, "Why would you care. You haven't cared for years." Neil was not understanding. The figure then walked up a spiral staircase and was gone. He heard a clicking sound. Neil was alone in an undisclosed location. Neil looked around a dark round room. On the wall he noticed something, it looked like a tree. A slamming noise surprised Neil, he heard running footsteps coming down the stairs. As he rounded the last spiral his hood flew off his head, yet instead of a face, a black masquerade mask covered from his forehead to his his nose. The blue Neil had scene before was even brighter now, the stark blue was coming from his eyes. The man had hair the color of a raven. The mysterious figure became even more mysterious. leaving the hood alone, he asked, "What did you do?"

"What do you mean what did I do?" Neil asked. "Don't play innocent with me." The masked man said. "Sorry." Neil said, in an upset tone. "You stole something. Something that I treasure greatly." He finally told Neil. "What did I steal, this my castle I own everything in it." "A book." Neil instantly new the book. It was the journal, but it could not have been his. "It's in the study." Neil said. "Why is it not in the observatory, how did you even get into the observatory." The figure that belonged with the shadows was getting angry. "Well when you live in a giant castle alone for so long, you tend to explore." Neil yelled. "Well you wont be exploring any more." With that the dark figure turned around his cape swishing. He ran up the stairs. Another click Neil was left alone. He laid down, and closed his eyes.
Meanwhile the figure went to the main floor of the castle. Running to the study, he opened it and grabbed the book off the chair. The figure went to the portrait of the girl, pushed the frame and ran up the five hundred and one steps up to the observatory. Reaching the top, he walked over to a dark green lump in the floor. It was a girl, the masked figure became sensitive. "I got it." he said, putting his arm around the girl. He was very fatherly. He turned the girl around, she was crying. "Got what?" She asked. "Do you not remember?" The cloaked man asked, he knew something she did not. The girl looked up at him, "No, why have you brought me here." He took the girl by the hand, stood her up, "Follow me." He said, leading her down the spiral staircase, through the door. After the door closed, he showed the girl the portrait. The girl gasped, "That's me. Why is their a picture of me in this castle?" "You will know in good time." He lead her back to the observatory. "I will be back." He left the maiden, and disappeared with a flash of the cloak that the dark of night made.
Neil had fallen asleep, but footsteps awoke him. The figure was back. "Tell me why?" The figure asked.

"What?" Neil asked. "Tell me why I was kept underneath this castle for so many years?" "I don't know." Neil said, he could barely remember his childhood, let alone anything that had happened to him. "You have got to know." "Why is it so important to you?" Neil asked. Once again the figure turned around, he hung his head. "It is just a hunch," He started. "But, the real royal family tree is here." He turned around causing a great gust of wind that lit a torch hanging on the wall, near the tree Neil had noticed earlier. Unlike the family tree in the study, this one was woven with red and gold thread into a great tapestry. The figure beckoned Neil with his arm. "Your name is their, see, but you are not the direct heir." This was true, but next to Neil's name coming from was written a girls name, "Who is that?" "Your sister." The figure stated. How could this be true, how could Neil have had a sister. "But you see you are the son of the sister of the queen." Neil looked again, the King and Queen were in larger letters, and the women who was supposedly his mother was in smaller letters. "The queen is my mother though. I was raised by her." "But your name is written their as her son." Neil looked it was not his name. "Who is it?" He asked. "Me." The figure said his looking up at Neil, his blue eyes piercing through the small eye holes mask. "So then why was I raised by the queen." "I don't know, you tell me, I have been stuck in this room for as long as I can remember, only allowed access to the observatory." Neil was thinking, maybe the king and queen wanted an older heir. But then why would they steal a son from family. Neil looked at the large tapestry again, the birth date of the girl was the same as his. He could not believe his mind, he had a twin sister. Neil looked back down at the masked figure, one hand was on the black mask, he was gently sliding it off his face. "Neil." he pleaded, "Tell me who I am." and with that the figure dropped the mask onto the floor. The masked figure no longer masked, "Tell me why, no one wanted me." Neil could not give the answers, but he wanted to, the man's face gave so much expression, it struck Neil's heart. "I am..."thanks for reading i really appreciate it

please don't kill me In the observatory, the girl was alone, she did not believe that the man would come back. Looking left and right her long brown hair swishing. She walked over to the window and and opened it, pushing lightly with her right hand. The damp cold air blew her hair. Stepping out on the balcony, she looked up and down the sides. Noticing the ivy that grew on the right side, she reahed out and grabbed it. Swinging one leg over then the other she slowly made her way down the tower, to the woods. She was not afraid of climbing living in the forest so long climbing trees taller than fifty feet, this was second nature to her. After her slow trek down the unfamiliar castle, she ran into the forest. It was not before long, when a white fog with what seemed like streamers of red ribbon encompased her. She got scared, and started to run. Suddenly, a hand was placed on her shoulder, she froze instantly and slowly turned around, the mysterious fog turning with her, almost like a storm churning when it is brewing over the ocean. The sight she saw horrified her. For before her was a man, in regal gold clothes stained red, from the sword wound on the man's left side, and squinting eyes, that peirced like the sword which had peirced his side. Yet the man was fully functioning, for he was ghost. The maiden fainted into his arms. He was unable to explain the weird phenominon happening, he did not know why he could touch her, he could not explain the fog. He floated deep into the forrest carrying the girl.thanks for reading i really appreciate it.

The girl woke up laying on a bed of moss, and leaves, deep within the forest. "Where I am?" She asked. "Well your not exactly home, but it is close." A tall man replied, as she got up, twisting her body to get a view of the man who spoke. "Father!" She exclaimed, it had been at least ten years since she saw him. "Nancy!" He said running towards his daughter, hugging her. "What happened?" She asked. "Let's not talk about it." He replied, turning his face because he heard a twig snap. When his face turned Nancy got a view of the scar, that went from above his write eye to almost the bottom of his write cheek. It was shaped like a crescent, starting from the hairline on the right side of his face, to the corner of his mouth. Nancy wanted to ask, but felt it was not the time. Just then her dad like a fog facing the warmth of the sun dissipated into the air. "Daddy!" She called out in desperation, her fear was realized her dad was a ghost, as well as the man in the blood stained regal clothing. Turning back around, she saw the man who brought her to glade, "I will help you understand." He said, in a warming deep tone. "Who are you?" She asked. "Do you not remember?" "No sorry." She replied "Well, I guess it is partially my fault and for that I am sorry. I am King..."thank you for reading little side not... neil and nancy are nineteen... and another little side note coming later in the story oh and sorry for the three mystery men

"Damian, the kid no one wanted." The man with the face that looked like a baby said. "Don't say that." I told him reassuringly. His stark blue eyes, that were like pools of melted joy, started to water yet again. "How can you say that, your the one who is the so called prince. The one my father took in. My own dad didn't want me. Why would you." A single tear drop fell from the smooth face, making a small splash on the stone floor. That tear was then followed by the body of Damian. He sat on the floor, pulling his knees to his chest. He started to cry. Neil bent down on one knee, and laid a hand on his shoulder. Damian looked up, his eyes wet with tears, his cheeks stained with the streams of water that flowed from his eyes. "Look, I barely remember my childhood, and I can say this truthfully, if I knew about you I would have cared. Just like I do now." This put a half smile on the boys face. "I can also tell you, you are very wanted, but I can not tell you who you are, for I barely know who I am." "Staying in the shadows, I overheard bits and pieces of conversation, that I was not supposed to here, but it might be able to tell you who you are." He explained. "But first I need to check on something." With that he got up, and because of his cape, he seemed to float out of the room. Neil heard a clicking noise. A few minutes later Damian returned wearing a black traveling cloak that flowed like the original one he was wearing, and a sword around his waste. In his hand was a light brown traveling cloak, that complemented the dark brown boots Neil was wearing. The texture of the cloak looked like leather, but did not feel like leather. Damian threw the cloak to Neil. "Well, looks like you wont be staying here after all." "What do you mean?" Neil asked. "I," He paused, he had pensive look on his face. He corrected himself, "We lost something." Neil was confused, but went up the stairs. He could not remember the last time he stepped out of the castle walls. For all he knew this could be a trick, Damian was a mysterious, he had the face of kid, sounded like a man. Neil was not even sure of his age. At a brisk pace, Damian led Neil through the winding passageways and corridors, coming upon to very large wooden doors. Neil had always passed them, with out a second glance. The doors were made of dark aged wood, from tree that no longer existed, and no one remembered the name. They reached from the floor, to about five feet below the ceiling of the great foyer. Damian brought his arm straight up from his side. He waved his hand, and the doors, with a loud ancient creaking noise opened. The doors sounded old, they had not been opened in years, they were relieved to be opened yet again. Walking out side, the cloud that was so thick, and settled over the castle slowly started to thin, and the lightening subsided a tiny bit. Both of the men stepped out side, they ran around the edge of the castle. Damian stopped at a tower covered in ivy, subsequently Neil stopped to. Both men tilted their heads up towards a window. "This is the tower of the observatory." Damian commented. Neil was taking it all in, he felt like a free man seeing the outside for what seemed like the first time. Damian looked at Neil, "I am not sure how much time we have, so let's go." He took of into the woods that were only a few feet away at a fast pace, Neil was at his heals. "Where are we going?" Neil asked a little out of breath. Damian slowed, and turned around to face Neil, "Well," He started.

"And I am sorry. Your father entrusted you and your brother to me. I was glad to have an older son, and well you and him got lost in it all. I am very sorry." "No don't be. I got to live a life of adventure. My dad raised me till I was sixteen, left on my sixteenth birthday." "I know that is hard. But if it helps, he was gone for a good reason. I was supposed to take care of you but, I failed. I failed my own son. But it is to late now." "No, it's not. Tell him your sorry, and I am sure it will all be well." "Maybe, not sure if I would even recognize him now." And with that the king disappeared in the same way her father did. Nancy now had time to look at the place where she was seated. Trees grew very tall, their was stump in the middle. Nancy got up, she heard the sound of running water. Walking past the tree stump, she came across a river. Looking upstream, she saw a small brown boat with a figure in it. Slowly the boat came to Nancy. The boat came to shore. Out stepped a muscular man, in red tattered and torn pants. His shirt was a faded red, long sleeve, that allowed Nancy to see the ripple of his muscles. The cloak he was wearing was a gold and made for traveling. And on his feet, were worn leather moccasins. Nancy took a step forward. The figured motioned for her to come closer. Nancy was entranced by this man. Taking another step forward the figure spoke, "Don't be afraid." His voice was like the water of the river. Nancy took another step. Slowly she made her way toward the man in red. The man held out his hand. Nancy grabbed it. Like a choreographed dance, he whisked her into the boat. "Come away with me." He said stepping into the boat. Nancy sat down, as he paddled down the river. After a while Nancy new this man was not a phantom of the forest. She got up the courage to ask, "Where are we going." The man then paddled down part of the river that veered off from the main one. This part was rocky, and the branches of willow trees hung long their tips barely touching the water. Nancy looked at the man, he was pointing straight forward. Nancy looked the direction he was pointing. They were coming upon a large cave, that arched over the river. "We are going to the cave." The man said.
hahaha... y'all still don't know who the king is... and now you got another mystery man hehehehe... i love y'all. thanks for reading

"I am not exactly sure." Neil exploded, "You mean to tell me I am being lead on a wild goose chase by kid who could kill me with a wave of his hand!" "No, why would I kill you. Look if you don't wanna find your sister be my guest, but it is your own loss!" Damian retorted his ears turning a bright red. "Wait my sister." Neil calmed a little. "Yeah, your sister." "I have a sister." "I already told you." "How did you loose her." "She was in the observatory, I was gonna tell her about you, went back down to you, went back up and she was gone. I don't know how she disappeared she just did. Okay, don't go blaming me." "Why shouldn't I. You blame me." "Don't get me mad." Damian threatened. "Why would I get you mad, your getting me mad." Damian's ears now resembled tomatoes. his face did as well. With a loud cracking sound, Neil was flung into the air, and against a tree. He was held their. "I warned you." Pleading Neil said, "You said you wouldn't kill me." "Plans can change." In a last effort, "I want to help you." Neil coughed, "Damian please." Loosing his focus Damian fell to the ground, he was overwhelmed, he did not no what to do. The spell Damian was putting no Neil was broken, and Neil fell to the ground. Slowly getting up, he had a few bruises, and a hurt ankle. He slowly made his way to Damian. He cradled Damian in his arms, and carried him over to a tree. Setting him down he said, "I'm sorry, forgive me." Waiting and waiting for what seemed like hours, and Damian still did not wake up. This worried Neil. Neil started shaking "Come on, come on, please wake up, I would never forgive myself." "Neither would I." A voice said behind him.

Coming deep inside the cave, the boat came to a stop. The man in red, hopped, out, and grabbed the rope. After tying the boat up, he reached his hound out, once again the chilling words came out, "Don't be afraid." Still entranced, Nancy took his hand, he gently pulled her out of the boat. He lifted her up, and cradled her in his arms, her dress draped over them. Leaning her head on his broad shoulder, he made his way down stone steps, he took her deeper into the cave. Finally reaching his destination, he gently set her on the ground, taking great care, he draped her dress around her. "Welcome to the pleasure dome" He whispered. Then he laughed. At that another man silently floated into the room, another ghost. He was wearing red like the man who brought Nancy to the cave. Only his clothes were not torn. He was wearing red pants which were tucked into brown boots. A red cape resembling fire draped his shoulders, and his shirt resembled a red version of the masked man's shirt. "That's okay." He told the first man. Both laughed. "Your doing well." Mystery clouded these to men. The ghost floated over to Nancy, "How are you doing?" He asked, "How are you feeling? I hope you are not feeling lonely, or forgotten. I know I did." "Master." The boatsman said, "Remember." "Good thing you are here." The ghost replied. "Take Nancy to her room." Once again the man who brought her to the cave, picked her up, and carried her into a chamber. Before he left he said, "I will be back soon. Trust me, I wont hurt you. Their is change of clothes for you on the bed." With that he closed the door and Nancy could hear the sound of his footsteps going away from the door. Nancy was now alone, sad, and tired. She looked around the room, it was dark, cold, and depressing. The bed was directly across from her, made from a dark wood, and sheets the color of midnight. A deep blue. To the right of the bed was a chair, and to the left a table. Walking to the bed, she lifted the dress, emerald in color. It was beautiful. It had a white loose fabric that fell of the shoulders with loose sleeves, and a corset made in gold material. The rest of the dress was emerald green, with swirling green jewels along the bottom. She took of her worn and torn green dress, and put on the new one, it fit like a glove. She sat on the bed, waiting for the boats man to return. She did not know if she could trust him, but his kind eyes, and smile, made her at ease. A knock on the door, "Come in." Slowly the door opened, in walked the man she could trust, he walked up to her. He pulled a cream rose out from behind his back, and placed it behind her ear. "Come along." Nancy followed him out. Instead of leading her back to the cave, he lead her to a small hut, that was at the mouth of the cave, right by the river. "It is not much." He commented, "But it is home." "Why am I here?" Nancy asked. With that the hut got dark, and a fog rolled in, only a few moments passed, and the light came back, and the fog was gone, as well was the man in red.

The man who was being nice to Nancy had found himself on his hands and knees, on stone floor. "What did I tell you." The ghost said, floating down from the top of the room. "I was not going to tell her anything." The man pleaded. "Don't lie to me Keith." "I would never lie to you master." With that, Keith found himself on his stomach, he knew ghosts could inflict pain, but he did not realize how much. "Their you go lying again." "Sorry master." "Good." The ghost disappeared, and Keith found himself back in the hut. "What happened?" Nancy asked. Grabbing his back, Keith replied, "Nothing, don't worry. Just know I will protect you." In doing these kind things for Nancy, Keith was risking his life. "I cannot tell you why you are here. But I can promise you will find out." "Thank you." Nancy replied, she was used to mystery by now, she learned not to answer question. "I never learned your name." "Keith." He simply replied. He grabbed his back again. "Are you sure your okay?" Nancy asked. Before Keith could respond, she grabbed his shirt, and lifted it up, "Oh my goodness."
Neil slowly turned around, only to see the king, the man whom he knew as his father. But what caught Neil's eye was the blood stained clothes. Neil was speechless. "I know what happened. And I cannot blame him." The king said. "I just pray, he is not dead." "Me to." Neil said, "I haven't seen you in so long, what happened?" "Some bad things, I am sorry. But I do not feel like going into details. Do you mind telling me who he is?" The ghost asked. Neil did not know how to tell the king, "Um, he is your son." Shock came across the ghost's face. "No. Oh God no. What did you do?" "You said you saw what happened." "I did. But then I did not know this was my son." Tears were building up in his eyes, and slowly one by one they started to fall. A clash of thunder was heard, "If he is dead, you will be sorry." At that another voice was heard, "I will make you sorry first."I hopes y'all liked it. please continue reading. i really appreciate it

The ghost of the king turned around, "Paul. What are you doing here." "Looking out for my son. And if you hurt him in any way, I will do the same to your son." "You wouldn't dare." "Yes I would." Paul replied. Neil was confused, "Wait." He stopped the argument, "Your my dad." "Yes, and I am sorry for not being their for you." Paul said. At that moment Damian released a scream of horror. Everyone turned to look at him. "What is it?" Neil asked. Their was terror in Damian's eyes, he pointed to the ghost of the king. "Get him away from." Damian pleaded. Their terror spreading to his whole body. Neil, grabbing Damian by the shoulders, asked, "What's wrong? What's going on?" "He's the one." Damian mumbled. He was still very weak. Neil was surprised that Damian was even trusting him. "The one what?" Neil asked. "The one," Damian started, scared to even finish his sentence.
i hoped y'all liked it. tell me what ya think. love ya. okay so paul is neil's dad which means he is nancy's dad... i said they were about ninteen (yonger than neils actual age) and paul is a tad bit older than his actual age... but he was the only guy that i could picture in this role so yeah...

"Keith, your back." On his back were large red welts, along with scars. Keith pulled away from Nancy, "It is not that bad." Keith used to wear a gray shirt but the blood showed to easily. "It is how he keeps me in line. I am pretty wild. Well I was." "Keith, that is so sad." Nancy sympathized. "Is the he, that ghost." "You mean, Ryan, and yes. I am his apprentice, I have one goal. I hate it, but have no choice. I am a commoner. I should not be his apprentice any more considering he is dead, I was at home, when his ghost came and took me away. He told me I had to complete what he couldn't so he could pass on. What he does, is really not me." "It's okay. But what do you have to do?" "I was hoping you would not asked that." "Why?" Nancy asked again. Keith fidgeted, "I, um, er, well ya see," he stuttered.
Damian finally mustered up the courage to speak, "He is the one who locked me away, gave me the mask." Damian was white. "Look son, I am sorry." The king said. "But you must understand what was going on. Many people had to be protected." "So you put my son in jeopardy." Paul said. "Well I did not think he would go after him at the time." The king replied. "I don't care who was protecting who." Neil said, "You scared your own son, and neglected him. You must do something." Neil interjected, making a statement at the king. "Yeah and he turned us onto each other." Paul said, "You know he committed suicide when he found out we killed each other, He did not mean for that to happen." Neil and Damian were confused. Damian was scared as well. The two ghosts kept on arguing and after a blink of an eye they disappeared. Damian finally relaxed. "So he is my father." He said calmly, then he yelled, "I hate him!" "Don't say that. George is nice, kind, he thought he was protecting you." "Well look what he did to me." Damian shook the incident off, "We must keep moving, and hope it is not to late. Although, I am hoping this is not a trap." These words worried Neil. But they went on, it seemed as if meeting their fathers, and their big fight had completely left the minds of Neil and Damian. The two came upon a river. Damian waved his hand, and the path of the boat was visible. With another wave of his hand, a boat appeared. The pair headed down the river. It was scary and dark. It spelled out the words, do not come here. A black raven flew ahead, it was an omen, but they kept on going, following the illuminated path of the boat that came before him. Heading into the branch in the river, the path grew dim, and eventually disappeared. This whole thing could not have been good. But they kept on going. Then they heard a scream.

"Uh Oh." Werethe only words that came out of Damian's mouth. "That does not sound good." Neil told Damian. "The scream or what I just said." "Both." Neil almost yelled. "Well, we need to hurry." Damian managed to explain. "Why?" Neil was good at asking questions, only because he thought Damian was not giving sufficiant answers. "Do you want your sister to die?" Damian responed with a tone of anger. Neil did not respond, for he was jumping out of the boat. He was on the shore when he finally responded, "Could you not have told me that." Damian jumped out of the boat as well, waved his hand and it disapeared. "I didn't think it was gonna happen so soon. So I did not tell you." "But you could have told me." Neil was walking fast, not knowing where he was going. Damian stopped him, by putting a hand on his shoulder, "You did not know her, and chances are she does not know you. I showed her the portrait of her in the castle. She still doesn't understand why it is in their. Look we just need to find her." He took his hand off Neil, "And, we need to go that way." He was pointing up, closer to the cave. "What will she do when she sees us coming to get her. I highly doubt she knows what you look like, considering when I first met you, you were wearing that mask. ya know." "Good thinking." Damian held out his hand, and another masquarade mask formed, although this one was different, it was not the black it was before, it was the color of the mountain. gray. Neil also noticed Damian's shirt was fading, it was not as black as it had once been. In fact all the black clothes Damian was wearing were fading. Most noticible was the cloak. Well once you looked at it. It was now misty black, layers of gray, and even lighter gray. Neil could even swear that he saw a layer of white in all that black. Damian looked at the mask, his eyes starting to tear, slowly he lifted the mask to his face. Neil noticed him, "You don't have to wear just yet. Wait till we find her." "Good idea." Damian nodded, then the mask disappeared, as fast as it had appeared. They headed up to the mountain. Soon the came across the hut. They heard a girl crying, and a man. "I'm sorry." The man said. "I have to other wise, I will be killed." He was pleading. Neil knocked on the door. "Who is it?" The girl asked. "That's her." Damian whispered. The mask did not appear in Damian's hand this time, but on his face, a tear fell down his cheek. "I'll get the door." The man opened the door. "What do you want." His smile faded. The girl then noticed Damian, "It's okay, he is a friend. I think." "No, no, I am." Damian said, he whispered to Neil, "Don't say anything about family, we need to be careful I will do the talking." "Come in." Keith said, he was fidgety. "Hurry." He closed the door. Damian's mask vanished, making Nancy gasp. "I can't explain now, but hopefully I will soon." He looked back at Neil. "Look I know why your hear, and I want to help, but your gonna have to help me in return." Keith stated. "Why are we here?" Neil asked. Damian nodded it was a good question. "Let's just say," Keith started.
