OKay. Its not terribly long BUT the next update is DONE! I'm just waiting till tomorrow or the next day to post it because it was to much to add to this one. And remember! ;D
"Comments make the world go 'round!"
It wasn’t until later that day Keith had a moment of regret in bringing Anna surfing.
Anna waited. When she thought the wave was just right, she stood, putting her arms out to balance herself. She didn’t last long standing and let out a screech as she tumbled into the water. Keith grew panicked when she didn’t surface right away. and started paddling, trying to bring himself closer to where she had gone under. He reigned in his panic when his eyes saw her break the surface. He saw her grin in exhilaration and wave at him. He masked his worry with a wave back and a grin.
“Shouldn’t we be heading back? I thought you said you had to help make dinner tonight?” He looked at the sky as he asked. Anna climbed up on her board and frantically started paddling back to shore.
“Oh my gosh! You’re right! I totally forgot and Carrie will be wondering where I’m at.”
They headed back to the car and loaded it up before heading back to the bed and breakfast. When Keith and Anna were walking through the door, Keith saw Carrie and asked her to come over.
“Would you take a picture of us, Carrie? We took lots of pictures today but none of us together.” Carrie agreed and received the camera he passed to her. Anna decided not to fuss about it, she secretly wanted a picture of the two of them. So when Keith looked at her and smiled with his softly bearded face, she stood still and let him wrap his arm around her waist bringing her closer to him.
Carrie and Anna cooked up dinner for their guests in the kitchen while listening to Keith’s ‘Take Me Home’ CD while Keith sat at the small table he and Anna had shared breakfast at earlier in the week. Anna and Keith started laughing at Carrie when she told Keith not to feel bad but she found Ryan’s voice to be “Quite Pleasing to her ears.” Laughing, he excused himself and said he wanted to go get his guitar from his room. That’s when Carrie paused from putting the salad together and turned to Anna.
“Please tell me you have told him.” Carrie pointed her wooden salad spoon at Anna.
“No. I’m waiting for the right time to tell him-it hasn’t come yet.” She couldn’t help but sound irritated with her Aunt but couldn’t she just let the subject drop? She kept bringing it up this week and the answer was always the same. The time just wasn’t right. She would tell Keith when she was good and ready, though she was getting the feeling she was going to tell Keith, if would get her Aunt off her back. She sighed and went back to slicing the cucumber for the salad.
When Keith walked back into the kitchen he could feel the tension between Anna and Carrie and wondered what he’d missed by just getting his guitar.
~ * ~ *~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~* ~
The rest of the week flew by for Anna and Keith.
Keith took to helping Anna in the stable in the mornings before they would head down to the beach for more surfing, picnicking, and taking pictures. Pictures not of just themselves but of the beauty around them.
Off and on through those next few days, Keith noticed Anna could get distracted easily. He would have to repeat himself to get her attention from watching the waves lapping at their feet or a passing cloud. He was happy to see her enjoying herself so much and took to watching her instead of whatever had caught Anna’s eyes. He knew he was falling for her hard and fast and from what he could tell, Anna was falling for him but it seemed something was holding her back. Ever since that night he had walked in to the kitchen and had felt the tension between aunt and niece.
It was toward the end of their first week together. Anna sat next to Keith while he played his guitar, a guitar with many stickers and things stuck to it, for her and the older couple who were staying. They sat around the fireplace in the sitting room, listing to Keith play while enjoying the warm glow of the fire.
When Carrie walked in, asking Anna to join her in the hall, Anna sighed and pealed herself away from the soft strumming of Keith’s guitar. They passed each other a soft smile as Anna left the room to follow her Aunt. When they reached the hall Anna stood across from Carrie and took one look at her face and knew what she was going to ask.
“NO! I haven’t told Keith yet!” She sighed, softening her tone. “I’ll tell him tonight. Okay?” Carrie just nodded, gave Anna a hug, and told her ‘good luck‘ and went back to sit by the fire. Anna watched Carrie walk down the hall and when she had disappeared from view, she squared her shoulders and went to get Keith.
She found Keith putting his guitar back in its beat up case and clicking the locks shut on it. He looked up and smiled at her entrance.
“What’s wrong Annie girl? Did something happen?” Keith could tell something was bothering her and hoped she would share with him what it was.
“Yes and… no- We need to talk.” Anna scrunched her brow at him “Could we go for a walk?”
“Sure Anna, Lets go.” Keith stood up from his crouched position by the guitar case and took Anna’s hand, leading her to the door. They put on jackets;Keith holding Anna's up for her to slip on and they walked out into the growing twilight.
Next update you will find out what is bothering Anna and what that means for Keith and Anna's relationship!

;D Thanks you two!!!! Like I promised! Here is the next update.....and please, please, please DON"T KILL ME!
They walked in silence up the worn horse trail that they had taken earlier that week, past the old work shed to an open meadow. There they perched on a boulder, holding hands. Clouds rolled in letting off thunder in the distance. Keith sat quietly, somehow knowing he needed to let Anna gather her thoughts, whatever they may be, before she told him what was troubling her. He sat hoping she wouldn’t take to long before telling him though, they didn’t need to be caught in the storm that was blowing in.
Anna knew Keith was waiting patiently, giving her the time she needed. And she was grateful. On the walk she hadn’t been thinking of what she needed to tell him. Her mind had drifted to the night Keith had brought her back from Donegal. How she had known there was something different and special about Keith that Bret hadn‘t had. She now knew what was different and special about Keith. Keith had the ability to love. Bret hadn’t and couldn’t, he was to centered on his job and himself. Keith could love. She knew that with all her being but would he, could he, extend his love to somebody like her?
She let out a sigh, determined to tell Keith what she should have from the beginning but before she could say a word Keith had grabbed her hand, pulling her to her feet and started running down the path. That’s when she noticed it had grown dark. Very dark. She could feel it growing colder as the rain started pouring; soaking her and Keith. She would have tripped and fallen in the mud if Keith hadn’t still been holding her hand. They kept running down the path until they reached the abandoned shed. Keith pulled the door open and ushered Anna inside out of the wind and rain.
Keith shook his head, splattering rain water about them. He hated how he had kept Anna from talking to him but he’d had no choice with the storm but now, now there was no reason for her not to tell.
“Annie girl! What was it you wanted to tell me?” Keith shouted over the howling wind and the beating of the rain on the old shed. He could barely hear himself. The wind rattled the windows and the insecure boards that made up the walls. He glanced down at Anna. He yelled again but she was looking out the window still unable to hear him. He reached out, placing his hand on her shoulder for her attention. “Annie, my girl, what was it you wanted to tell me?”
Anna looked up into Keith’s eyes. Those eyes were the most wonderful thing she could remember ever seeing. The most beautiful mix of blue and grey. And she knew then that she loved them. Loved the man that stood in front of her with those eyes. She was terrified that she was going to lose him with what she had to tell him. It was why Bret had left her wasn’t it? Blinking back her tears and taking a deep breath she shouted over the violent wind.
“Keith, I’m- I’m going deaf!” She watched his face for the sickened reaction she knew would come. The same reaction Bret had worn in the hospital room.
“What was that, Annie? Sounded like ye said you were going deaf!” When Anna just looked at him not correcting him, he grew still. “Is that what you said Anna? You’re going deaf?” Anna’s answering nod confirmed what he’d thought she had said. He removed his hand from her shoulder placing it at his side and turned away from her. He didn’t have to look at her to know she had tears tracking down her face but he couldn’t bring himself to look at her. She had kept that from him. She had lied to him everyday just by being with him. Little things over the past few days rushed through his mind. How he would have to repeat himself to her or how Carrie would wait until Anna was watching her when she spoke. How he could scare her by walking up behind her. Because she couldn’t hear him. She was going deaf.
~ * ~ * ~ * ~
Anna stood facing Keith’s back. She had been right. What else had she expected from him? Why would the famous Keith Harkin want somebody less then perfect? Bret hadn’t wanted her and it seemed Keith didn’t want her either. Why kid herself anymore? Steeling herself against the storm that raged outside their pathetic shelter, she turned away from the man who had turned his back on her in more ways then one and stepped out side into the storm.
Keith rubbed his hands down his face. He needed to clear his head, think. Deaf? How could he be with somebody deaf? Everything about him had to do with being able to hear! He had always imagined himself with somebody he could play his newly written songs too for advice, to enjoy that time together. The word ‘deaf’ echoed in his head. Anna wouldn’t be able to do that with him.
He shivered when he felt the cold fingers of the wind reach up around him and under his jacket. Why was she opening the door? Did she not realize how cold it was out there? He spun around to tell Anna to close the door before they both froze and found her gone. Frustrated, he buttoned up his coat and flipped the collar up to try and provide a little protection from the wind and stepped out side, following the horse trail back to the house. He could feel the temperature dropping with each step closer to the house. He hurried as fast as he could not being able to see through the rain. He shook his head trying to clear it of water dripping in his face but it was soon replaced with more rain. Keith started to worry he had gone the wrong way when he didn’t see the house after walking a ways but seconds later relief flooded him when he saw lights from the house.
Carrie met Keith at the door wearing a worried frown and holding warm wool blankets. As he walked in the door, shivering and rubbing his hands together, she wrapped the blanket around him. “That’ll warm ye up in a jiffy.” Keith sat down on the hall bench and laid his hands in his head. “Where’s Anna, Keith?” Carrie asked.
Keith’s eyes flicked to Carries face, hearing the alarm in her voice. “We had a…fig- a misunderstand and she came back ahead of me.” He let out a dejected sigh. “Anna should be here. Did she come in a different door?” He asked, growing worried.
“No, I’ve checked multiple times. Keith she hasn’t come back.” Carrie’s voice grew in pitch with each word. Keith left Carrie standing in the hall and ran to Anna’s room to check, secretly knowing she wouldn’t be there. He beat his hand on the door jam in frustration. Keith turned, ran down the hall, and took the stairs two at a time to his room. Grabbing a warmer coat and warm hat he took off back down the stairs to Carrie.
“Carrie, lets exchange cell numbers incase she gets back while I’m out. “ Keith handed her his phone so she could put her number in while she handed him her phone.
“I’ll go check the stables. She likes to go there when she needs to think.” Carrie said. She took a step toward Keith and wrapped her arms around him. “Find her, Keith.” He tipped his head to look at her then hugged her back.
“I plan to, Carrie. I plan to.” He let her go, taking the flashlight she had thought to give him and walked through the door back into the storm.
A/N I only have a LITTLE bit of the next part typed up so not sure how long it will be for the next update!

You are very talented. I love this story. It's well written and you actually take your time in what you write which makes it so much better than other fanfics I have read. And the deaf aspect of the story could lead to some pretty romantic (yet still rated G) situations. I can't wait (but I will) to read more!

OKay, Thank you guys for reading this! This is a short update...haha sorry! This update is dedicated Abby T. You keep me writing. ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ Keith flicked the high powered flashlight on and pointed the beam from right to left, squinting through the darkness and pelting rain. He started up the horse trail the way he had come earlier but stopped. Keith hadn’t seen her on his way back. She had to have taken a different path. He turned quickly, barely catching himself from slipping in the mud, and made his way toward the foot path a few feet away that wound itself through the country side and passed the shack he and Anna had taken shelter in earlier. He walked quickly but thoroughly, shining the flashlight along the path. He shouted Anna’s name hoping that by some miracle she would hear and would answer him back. He had about given up finding her and was trying to think up a new plan when he thought he saw something out of place up the path. Sprinting carefully so as not to fall, he made his way toward the shape. That’s when he saw her. Anna lay still on the grown, soaked. Her hair was plastered to her pale face and her ankle laid in an awkward position. He dropped to her side, ignoring the wetness of the ground soaking through his jeans, and lifted her head into his lap. “Anna! Wake up!” He brushed the hair out of her face. “C’mon!” When she didn’t stir he ripped the jacket off he was wearing and wrapped it around Anna; her jacket being soaked. He quickly grabbed his phone and called Carrie. “Carrie! I found her!…. No, she’s unconscious and her ankle looks like it’s broken or badly sprained. You need to call the hospital and have them send someone over here. I’m bringing her back now.” After Carrie told him she would call he hung up. Keith placed his wool hat on Anna’s head to try and keep her warm. He lifted Anna into his capable arms with out so much as a struggle. He held her close to his chest trying to block some of the harsh wind. He hoped it helped. He glanced down at her face, it alarmed him how her skin color wasn’t as it should be. Keith prayed she would be alright with every step he took. He had so much he wanted to tell her. How he was sorry for the way he had acted in the shed when she had shared her secret. The way it scared him to see her laying on the ground unconscious. He wanted to tell Anna how he felt toward her. But how did he feel toward her? Did he love her? Sure he liked her. The way the sun would cast a glow over her. The way she would laugh at him. Keith let his eyes drift down to her face; taking in the sweep of her jaw line and the way her hair lay against her face. He imagined how her mouth would curve if he could make her smile at him and he came to a conclusion. Yes, he loved her. It felt to Keith it took forever to get back to the house though it was likely not even 30 minutes before he reached the bottom step of the Bed and Breakfast. By the time he made it to the door Carrie had it standing open waiting on him. When he had made it through the door he was greeted by the paramedics who quickly relieved Keith by placing Anna on a gurney and rolling her off to the ambulance, leaving Keith and Carrie to quickly follow behind.

Okay. Here is a longer update for ye peoples. lol Hope you enjoy it! He drove through the city streets until he found the apartment he sought. It was a small one, along a tree lined street. He didn’t understand why Anna had wanted an apartment near greenery. He remembered vaguely her mentioning her love for the out doors. It frustrated him. But such a small detail didn’t matter anymore, all that mattered now was finding Anna and getting back together with her. He had lost funding for his company since she had left him. He parked the car and walked up to the door and knocked. No answer. He glared at the door as if continuing to long enough would make her appear. He turned and stalked back to the car. He’d try her father’s next…….. ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * Keith parked the car in the nearest spot he could find. He and Carrie made their way through the parking lot, through the automatic doors and continued on heading for the front desk. “We’re looking for one Anna Kavanagh, She was just brought in.” Carrie’s voice was strong, almost unworried sounding when she asked the receptionist where her niece could be found, but Keith could see the worry in her eyes and knew the calm was a learned trait from her time working as an ER nurse. The lady smiled kindly at them before giving the room number and how to find it. Nodding his thanks Keith followed Carrie to Anna’s room. When they got to the room it was empty save for just Anna. She laid in the hospital bed completely covered by blankets. Keith was relieved to find some of her color had returned to her face. His relief soon changed when he saw Carrie. He could tell she was about to lose her control over her tears so he reached out and drew her into a hug and let her cry. “Oh, Keith! I-I sh-shouldn’t have made her t-tell you tonight! This is all m-my fault!” She chocked out through her tears. “Carrie! If this is any ones fault its mine! I shouldn’t have acted the way I did. If I hadn’t, she wouldn’t be here. If I had just told her it didn’t matter that she was deaf none of this would have happened!” Clearing his throat the Doctor walked in. “Would you be family?” He asked, politely pretending he hadn’t over heard them talking and walking further into the room. “I’m her aunt Carrie and this is Keith. He is a friend of the family.” Keith looked at her, shocked and happy should would still say that about him even after what had happened in the past few hours. “Anna, is doing fine. It looks like she sprained her ankle pretty bad and we think she hit her head when she fell but we believe there was no permanent damage but we won’t know for sure until she wakes up which most likely will be in the morning.” The doctor asked if they had anymore questions and not receiving any he took his leave. Keith smiled reassuringly at Carrie and pulled up two chairs for them to wait in until morning. He wanted to be there when Anna woke up so he could tell her that it didn’t matter that she was going deaf and that he loved her. Keith couldn’t fall asleep. He was to wired. He played through the nights events over and over, just frustrating himself more. Several hours later the hospital began to gradually grow quite and soon he could hear Carrie’s soft breathing as she slept beside him in the opposite chair. A few hours before sunrise he finely was able to drift off to sleep. Only to wake up when a nurse came in to check on Anna who still wasn’t awake. He knew he wouldn’t be able to fall back asleep so he decided he would go down to the cafeteria and find himself a hot cup of coffee. He stood up, stretched, yawned, and then tip toed quietly out the door so as to not wake Carrie. Keith sat quietly in a corner booth with his coffee watching as family members of patients mingled around, sitting, standing, and even some who looked to have fallen asleep eating. He sat there continuing to observe the people until the next thing he knew he was being shaken. “Laddie, you fell asleep here about an hour ago. Thought you might have someplace to go….?” Keith jerked, startled and looked around confused. The cafeteria. He must have fallen asleep. Keith looked up into the face of a little bent over elderly lady, her grey hair curled tightly over her head. “Oh man, I must have dozed off….” The lady laughed at him as he ran his hands through his disheveled hair and rubbed the side of his unshaven face. “Aye dearie,” She looked down at him concern in her eyes. “You have a long night?” “Yeah, you could say that. The woman I love is mad at me and before I could tell her how stupid I was and apologies she was in an accident.” He saw the woman’s face and hurried on. “OH! She’s okay. The doctor said she is stable we’re just waiting on her to wake up.” The woman smiled at Keith. “Well, you had better get yourself up there and tell her how stupid you were and apologies to that sweet girl!” The lady patted his hand then backed up, giving him room to stand. Keith laughed, feeling suddenly lighter then he had been. Everything would be alright. He’d tell Anna he was sorry and everything would be fine. “Thank you Ma’am, I think I’ll do just that.” He smiled at her and started out of the room but stopped. It was still early and Anna would most likely not be up yet. He turned back around to buy Carrie a coffee then proceeded back up to Anna’s hospital room

OKay..... I know you have asked for longer updates and lucky for you I was, well, hit with a bunch of ideas on how to get to my ending...and you are a lot closer!
Keith drew nearer to the room's door and stopped. He heard Anna’s voice! He was about to step foot through the cracked door but stopped when he heard his name.
“What about Keith, Dear? He loves you I’m sure of it! Don’t you love him?” Keith peeked in the door. He could see Carrie sitting on the bed but he couldn’t see Anna. The curtain was pulled so she was just out of sight. He strained his ears to hear Anna’s answer but didn’t have to; she could be heard quite well.
“No Carrie, I don’t love Keith. And I would like to never see him again.“
“But I thought-”
“No Carrie, he was just somebody to hang out with and have a good time while I was here visiting….”
Keith’s sharp intake of breath startled him. All his joy wiped clean away like the bleached clean floor beneath him. Keith took a step back away from the door and backed into the nurse who was coming to check on Anna.
“Oh, sorry sir.”
“My fault…Um, could you give this to Carrie when you go in there. Just tell her its from Keith.” He didn’t wait for an answer but handed her the cup and walked down the hall, pulling his cell phone out to call a taxi.
He missed the elevator twice with his mind being blank of thoughts. Finely he stopped and looked around found an elevator and headed down to the main floor where he found the taxi driver waiting. He climbed in folding his lengthy body in half to fit in the back seat. He gave the man the address to the Bellflower and sat back to wait out the ride. If Anna didn’t want to see him again… He would let her have her wish though it crushed him to know, he to would have to, some how, live without seeing her again.
~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *
“No Carrie, he was just somebody to hang out with and have a good time while I was here visiting-”
“Now don’t you lie to me Anna Elizabeth Kavanagh! I have watched the two of you and I don’t know of any two people more in love!” Carrie stood up from her sitting position to walk over to the window.
“I know…. It’s just…I don’t know. I’m afraid that me being deaf was something Keith couldn’t live with. You should have seen the look on his face when I told him I was going deaf….he looked so hurt. I don’t think he could ever forgive me for lying to him.”
“That is where you are wrong Anna. I talked to him last night, saw his face, and there is no way in this world that he doesn’t love you back.”
Anna and Carrie looked up when the nurse walked in, pulling the curtain back with her free hand.
“Carrie, I was given this out side the door. The man wanted me to tell you it was from Keith.” Thanking her, Carrie took the cup from the nurse.
“Carrie…You think Keith heard?” Anna was wide eyed as she asked.
Her Aunt shook her head sadly. “I don’t see how he couldn’t have, Anna.”
~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *
Keith slammed the taxi door harder then he should have before heading up the porch steps of the Bed and Breakfast. He walked up to the sign in desk and wrote a check covering what would have been his whole stay, leaving it under a paper weight on the desk. Then he made his way up the stairs to pack his things. He was packed and out of there in less then twenty minutes with his jacket on, guitar case, and suitcases in hand. He made his way to the car and started his drive home.
~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~
He walked up the steps to the door and knocked and looked up and down the street, spying Aidan’s car. Knowing he was home he knocked again.
“What is going on out here?” Aidan yelled through the door before opening it. “Oh, hello Brett. What do you want?”
Bret gave him an even smile. “Hello Aidan. How are you?” He asked while shaking his hand.
“I’m doing fine Bret…What do you want?” Aiden repeated shortly, slightly frowning. He didn’t offer to let Brett in.
“That’s good. I was wondering if you knew where Anna was? She’s isn’t at home.” Bret took a step closer then pushed himself inside the house. “I have been wondering where Anna is at…because I have realized I still lover her, Aiden. I want to be with her.” Bret said this with out looking at Anna’s father, not wanting his true feelings to be realized.
“She is visiting her Aunt, Bret.” He sighed. “And I happen to know she doesn’t want anything more to do with you- After the way you treated her.” Aidan held the door open for Bret but he ignored the hint and instead looked at a picture frame sitting on the table that was inside the door. Aiden cleared his throat. “Bret, if you don’t mind, I have places to go today and it would be much appreciated if you leave.”
“Well. I can tell when I’m not wanted.” He sneered at Aidan. “Have a good day, Mr. Kavanagh.” Bret turned on his heal and walked through the open door, walked down the street to his car and drove off. Leaving Aiden Kavanagh standing inside the door, hoping he would never see Bret again.
Bret was mad. No. He was beyond mad-he was furious! Who had been the man in the picture with her? He racked his brain for a memory of a tall, blonde haired man but couldn’t place him. Who was he to be with Anna? Anna was his girlfriend, or soon would be his. Again.
~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *
--A Week Later --
Ryan snapped his fingers in front of Keith. “Hey man, snap out of it! Sharon said you need to go over that last number again.” Ryan looked down into his friend’s blank stare and watched as he nodded and stood up.
“Right.” Keith said with out looking at Ryan. He took the steps slowly up to the stage and took his place.
“He been like that all week?” Neil whispered into Ryan’s ear. Neil had just arrived at the studio though the other lads had been there the whole week doing rehearsals. He had been busy doing finishing touches on his CD that was due to come out soon and he had begged off a couple extra days from Sharon before coming out.
“Yeah. He hasn’t told me much but from what it looks like to me, though he would say other wise, he had his heart broken.” Ryan saw Neil shake his head sympathetically. “I think I’m going to have to intervene on his behalf.” Ryan ran his hand over his chin planning.
“What do you mean, Ryan?” Neil asked softly through his smile. “Can I help?” Ryan laughed and clapped him on the back.
“Well sure you can help! When I figure out what I’m going to do.” They both stopped and stared at Keith who was in the middle of singing ‘Lauren and I’. It looked like…It looked like their tall surfing friend would start to cry any minute.
“And by the look of things. We should hurry!” Neil just nodded his head in agreement.
--Same time at the Bed and Breakfast--
Anna stood, leaning on the horse stall door, to keep pressure off her ankle as she stroked her horse’s neck.
“Hey Danny boy.” She leaned over the door which came just above her waist, to wrap her arms around his neck. “I miss him Danny. How could I be so stupid just to let him walk away! I mean granted I couldn’t do anything; I was stuck in a hospital bed. I should have called him and explained! Of course he didn’t have to storm out of my life so fast with out an explanation! Then again…back to me. He heard me say I didn’t want to see him again….” She knew she was rambling but Danny didn’t seam to care he just made an understanding sound deep in his throat which only made her start to cry.
Soon she was exhausted from putting all her wait on one leg and so she hopped over to a pile of hay in the corner and before she knew it she was asleep.
