Damian checked his outfit in the mirror one last time before heading out. He was on his way to pick up his girlfriend for a party. They were going as a vampire couple. So Damian's outfit resembled Bela Lugosi's costume for "Dracula" He was over at her house in a matter of minuets. She opened the door. It looked like she hadn't changed at all. She was in jeans and a brown long sleeve top.
"Uh? I thought you were going as a Vampress?" he asked as she invited him in.
"I am."
"You don't look like one."
"Yes I do actually. I'm the perfect preditor."
"Wha?"
"Don't you get it, Damian? I am cursed."
"Cursed? I don't get it."
"Tisk Tisk. Sit down and I'll tell you all about it."
"But the party! We're going to be late!"
"We're not going to the party."
"But you've been looking forward to it for so long."
"Not the party. This night. Let me tell you a story."
"When I was a baby, one of the nurces in the hospital was a Satanist. She cursed me, and her master heard. Every Halloween night, I am doomed to turn into the feared creature of the night, but without the craveing for blood."
"You mean..." Damian was very scared.
"Vampire."
"But you won't suck my blood. You said so yourself. You can't"
"When the moon is full on Halloween night, thats when I crave blood. I transform as the sun sets" With alarm Damian turned to see the sun slip below the horizen. He turned to look at her. Her mouth was open in an invisable scream. He saw the canines elongate into fangs. When they stopped growing she shut her mouth. She looked absolutly normal.
"Now I am a vampress. And I. CRAVE. BLOOD!" Damian ran for the door. But she beat him to it.
"Going somewhere?"
"I don't want to be a vampire!"
"And you won't. You'll only be cursed like me.'"
"No!"
"Give in Damian, it's only one night a year."
"Never!" He ran through the house, trying desperatly to find a way out. He spotted a rosery on a table in her bedroom, and remembering the legends, grabed it.
"Stop running Damian. It'll be less painfull if you stop struggling." Her voice came out of nowhere. All of a sudden she was right there, ready to bit him. He swung the rosery in front of her. She screamed and backed off.
"Mercy! Mercy!"
"How do I cure you?" He asked in a stern voice. The answer came to him just as he asked the question.
"Expel the demon with the power of God!" Odd that the voice in his head sounded almost like George.
"By the power of the living God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I command thee to leave the girl and go far, far away." She began to scream in agony as the evil spirit rose out of her body and fled. She fainted. Damian longed to hold her, but he was warry. What if it didn't work? Then what? Would he have to kill her? He hoped it didn't come to that. She awoke with a gasp.
"Damian?"
"Show me your teeth first." She opened her mouth. No fangs.
"Oh Damian, I know what happened. It was like Jekel and Hyde. I knew what I was doing, but it was like I was watching while someone else controlled me!" Her head dropped.
"I can understand if you never want to see me again."
"No, that wasn't you. The girl that tryed to bite me isn't the girl I fell in love with. Come on, we're late enough as it is."
"Let me change first." He nodded and left the room.
She stepped out in an elaborate midnight black ball gown. He smiled and gently eascorted her out the door. Arm in arm they left for the party.
