oh goodness, im sorry it's been so long!
Chapter 29
“Damian Joseph McGinty I’m going to kill you if we don’t find my grandmother’s ring!” Keith yelled, clearly frustrated.
“Alright, alright. Calm down and lets not make any haste scary threats against me either.” Damian said sheepishly.
At that point I was confused. Why would Damian have Keith’s grandmother’s ring? And was it actually his grandmother’s ring, or was it his now, passed down to him for a special reason? Was Keith planning to propose to Kayla tonight? And was I wrong when I thought Damian was actually proposing to me?
“Okay well it’s not in any of the pockets,” Damian started
‘Thanks for restating it, captain obvious.” Keith interrupted
Damian ignored him and started again where he left off. “Anyways, someone could have discovered it and taken it. Who do you think it is?”
I gulped and held back that guilty feeling.
“Well its definitely not Paul. If he found it he would’ve accidentally let the cat outta the bag already.”
“It’s not likely to be Alex. He was busy carrying bouquets so his hands would’ve been full.”
“Yeah. And Liz? Sure she may have found it and looked at it, but I highly doubt she taken it, she’s not that type.”
Damian sighed. “That leaves no one else…When did you say you were planning to propose again?”
“Tonight.”
I unexpectedly gasp. I clasped both of my hands over my mouth. I unconsciously took a step back away from the door, fearing they heard me.
“What was that?” I heard Damian ask.
Keith paused only for a second to listen. “It doesn’t matter. We need to get back to Sharon.”
“What about the ring?”
“Well it might’ve fallen somewhere in here. We’ll come back later and look.”
I thought it was the perfect time to come in and interrupt. I walked in and tapped on the door.
“Hey guys, Sharon’s looking for ya now.”
I watched Damian glance over at Keith and give him a comforting smile.
After everyone received their rose bouquets I went straight to Lindsey to get started on our little ‘mission.’ AKA, take back the ring I took from Damian, who took it from Keith in the first place. It sounded like a piece of cake. But thanks to my stupidity, I stuck the ring in Kayla’s bag when I had my little panic attack. It’s definitely gonna be a challenge getting the ring without her knowing and ruining the surprise.
I explained the whole conversation I overheard with Damian and Keith to Liz. We went to a quiet corner and started devising out our plan. It was pretty simple, Liz would get the ring back, while I get Damian’s jacket where the ring will magically reappear.
I knew Damian would be back in the storage room looking for the ring, as he said earlier so I headed over there first. I tried to act as natural and casual as I possibly could.
“Hey there,” I smiled
“Hey, feels like I haven’t been able to hang out with you at all tonight.” Damian teased, giving me a quick kiss.
I chuckled nervously. I quickly changed the subject so he wouldn’t get a chance to ask me what I’ve been doing.
“So are you looking for something Keith?”
I caught his attention. “Hmm? Oh yes. My uh…just a little something, that’s all.”
“Oh, well I’m sure you’ll fine is soon” I encouraged.
“Thanks. So uh did you need something?” he asked
“Actually yes. I was wondering if I could borrow your jacket?”
“Sure,”
‘’Yes! This is easy as cake’ I thought.
“-What for?” Damian continued, handing me his jacket.
I responded quickly. “Just a little chilly.”
Keith laughed. “Are you kidding? It’s super hot in this place right now!”
Crap. I was beginning to reconsider that maybe cake wasn’t so easy as the saying goes…
“Yeah Keith has a point. Are you feeling well?” Damian asked, reaching for my forehead.
I waved his hand away. “It’s okay. I’m feeling perfectly fine, it’s probably…” I paused for a second to think. Oh no. My mind was blank.
At that point, I just needed to say something. They were staring at me waiting for me to finish my sentence. I said the first lame excuse that popped into my head.
“Uh, I think I’ve been drinking too much ice tea tonight…?” I mentally did a face palm to myself. Too late now to turn back. “Yeah, all that ice…you know… makes you cold and everything…”I trailed off , awkwardly and stupidly I might add.
I sighed. This was going to be a long night, especially if people started thinking I’ve lost my sanity…
I would promise that i would update daily again but im not sure i'll be able to since i've started another Damian story thread called 'Love to Hate You', but i'll try my best! & i hope you check that one out too!
