“How about that one?”, Keith asked. “Yea, get that one Paul”, Damian agreed. “I’ve seen better”, George put in. “I think you should get that one”, Ryan said. “The one in the green?”, Keith asked. “No, Paul deserves better than that” Paul sighed. He was tired of playing this game. “Lads, stop acting like your picking out a new car”, he said. “And I think I can find a girl on my own” The lads were sitting in a pub in Dublin, Ireland, sipping Guinnesses and scouting girls. Paul sighed again. For some weird reason, the other lads felt that since they all had women in their lives, it was their personal duty to make sure he had one too. “Besides”, Paul continued. “All four of you are already taken. Two of you are actually married, one engaged, and the other half in love. You shouldn’t be checkin’ out girls like this” “But it’s not for us Paul”, Keith said. “It’s for you, so it doesn’t count” “And we’re not checking them out”, Ryan said. “We’re just giving you our opinions” “You don’t think that I’m capable of finding a woman on my own?”, Paul asked. “We just want you to be happy Paul”, Keith said. “Yea, I know”, Paul sighed. “And I really appreciate it” “What about that one?”, Ryan asked. “Would you cut it out?”, Paul asked. “I’ll find a girl when I’m ready” “Chilax Paul”, Keith said. “We’re only trying to help” “Yea, yea”, Paul said. “I’m gonna get ready for rehearsal”, Paul said as he stood up. “Rehearsal’s not for another half hour”, George pointed out. “Yea, I know”, Paul said. “I’ll see you guys later” Paul Byrom walked the two blocks to the venue where Celtic Thunder was rehearsing. He really did appreciate the lads trying to help, but Paul wanted to pick out a girl on his own. He would be lying if he said he didn’t want one. Of course he did. Didn’t everybody? But Paul wasn’t desperate. He knew that some girl was out there, and he wasn’t going to pick just anybody. He walked into the backstage area of the rehearsal building, and saw Zara on the floor, stretching like she always did before she danced. “Hey Zara”, he said, sitting in a nearby chair. “Hey Paul”, Zara sat up from her stretched out position on the ground. “What’s wrong?”, she asked. “What makes you think something’s wrong?”, Paul asked. “You’re just not your normal cheerful self”, Zara pointed out. “The guys are scouting out girls for me”, Paul told her. “Again?”, Zara laughed. “That has to be the third time they’ve done that” “Yea”, Paul replied. “They’ve taken it upon themselves to make sure I’m just as happy as they are” “They’re just doing this cus they care about you”, Zara said, bending down and touching her toes without bending her knees. “I know”, Paul said. “I have to go get ready. I’ll see you in a bit” When he came out of his dressing room, dressed for Heartland, he came face to face with Ryan. “Hey, sorry about that back there Paul”, Ryan apologized. “We probably shouldn’t be bugging you about it so much. “I’m not just gonna pick some random girl off the streets Ryan”, Paul said. “I know. We’ll lay off”, Ryan promised. “You’re not really mad at us, are you?”, he asked. Paul pretended to think for a bit. “Well… it depends…”, he hestiated playfully, his good humor returning. “Thanks Paul”, Ryan said laughing. “Oh, and one more thing. Will you sing something at my wedding?” Paul did a double take. “Me?”, he asked. “Is your name Paul?”, Ryan laughed. “Of course I will!”, Paul exclaimed. “What do you want me to sing?” “We’ll think of something later”, Ryan said. “And I;m asking the other lads to each sing something at the reception. So they don’t feel left out”, he joked. “I’d be honored”, Paul said seriously. “Man, I can’t believe your actually getting married!” “I know”, Ryan laughed. “Now we just need to get you up on that alter next”, Ryan stopped short as he realized what he just said, but Paul laughed. “I couldn’t agree more”, he said. “Just let me pick her. Okay?” “Can do”, Ryan laughed. “Now we better get out there…”

“Paul”, Damian called as Paul and Ryan walked toward the stage. “Hey, are you really upset with us? We didn’t mean anything…” “I already talked to him about it”, Ryan said. “It’s fine Damian”, Paul told him. “Oh good”, Damian looked relieved. They were walking down a hall when they turned a corner, and saw Keith and Katie about halfway down the hall. “Whoa Keith!”, Paul exclaimed. “Talk about PDA!” “Maybe we should take the long way…”, Ryan suggested. Keith turned and looked at them. “I’m holding her hand”, he said. “And that would be called PDA”, Paul joked around. Keith just rolled his eyes and went back to talking to Katie.
Later, at rehearsals, Paul, Zara, and Ryan were rehearsing That’s A Woman. “No, no, no”, Belinda, the choreographer called. “We’re switching it up. Remember? Zara, you cross over here…”, she took Zara by the hand and led her the proper way. THEN cross in front of Paul and take his hand as you pass”, she demonstrated again. “Then you lead him to center stage so that he can spin you around. Try it” Belinda started clapping the beat as Zara tried the new choreography. “Good!”, Belinda encouraged. “Paul, you need to look more mesmerized. You’re in love with this girl. Remember?” “Can I dip her?”, Paul asked. “Can you ‘dip’ her?”, Belinda clarified. “Yea, at the end of the turn sequence. I spin her around like this…”, he put his arms around Zara, about to spin her. “Wait”, Zara stopped him. “About this dip… You’re not going to drop me are you?”, she asked. “You don’t trust me?”, Paul pretended to look offended. Zara looked at him doubtfully and put her hands into postion on her shoulders. “Thank you”, Paul smiled at her. “Okay, like this”, he said as he put his hand on her waist and they spun around with a quick dip at the end. The dip was only a second long as Paul pulled her up and skillfully went on to the next move. “Like that”, he said as he finished. “Wow. That actually looked really good”, Belinda noted. “And I didn’t even drop you”, Paul winked at Zara. “Don’t let it go to your head”, Zara teased back. A few minutes later, Belinda said they were done for the day. “Well your in a better mood”, Zara noted as they walked off stage. “That I am”, Paul agreed. “How can you tell?” “Your eyes are happy again”, Zara said. “Are the lads finally leaving you alone?” “Yea, they said they’d lay off”, Paul said as he leaned against a wall backstage. Zara leaned against the opposite wall facing him. “Did you have to bribe them or something?”, she asked, smiling. “Actually, no”, Paul laughed. “I think they got the point when I walked out on them earlier” “That’s too bad”, Zara said. “It was fun watching them find girls for you” “Fun for you”, Paul said. Zara giggled. “I thought it was funny”, she said. “Anyway, I’m gonna go change” “Alright”, Paul said, surprisingly disappointed. “I’ll see you later” “Bye”, Zara called as she walked off. “Paul”, Belinda called. “Can you go get Damian? He’s next and he’s late” “Okay, I’ll find him”, Paul said as he pushed off the wall and went off in search of Damian.

After about a full 5 minutes of looking, Paul finally found Damian. He was on the phone in a deserted room. “I miss you too”, he was saying, obviously on the phone with Gianna. “But this show’s gonna be awesome! I’m so excited! You’re going to come see it, right?” “Oh Damian”, Paul called in a sing-song voice as he walked in. “Tell your girlfriend goodbye” “Hold on Gi”, Damian said. “Why?”, he asked Paul. “Because you, Mr. McGinty, are late for your rehearsal and Belinda is looking for you” Damian looked at the clock on the wall. “Oh man, your right!”, he exclaimed. “Hey, I gotta go Gi”, he said into the phone. “I’ll call you tonight…. Hey, you’re the one that distracted me”, he laughed. “Okay, you too. Bye. Is she really mad?”, he asked Paul as he hung up. “Not yet”, Paul said. “But you better hurry” “Alright. Later!”, Damian called as he ran out the door.
Ove the next few days, the lads were kept busy with rehearsals, phoning home, and just randomly playing pranks on eachother. One day, Ryan showed up in Paul’s hotel room. “Paul, I need your help”, he said. Paul looked up from his laptop. “What’s up?”, he asked. “I’m working on a wedding present for Anna, and I kind of need your help” Paul shook his head. “I keep forgetting that your actually getting married”, he said. “What are you getting her?” “A bench. It’s gona be wooden with our names and wedding date engraved on it” “Wow Ryan… I’m actually impressed”, Paul said. “Really?”, Ryan asked. “She’ll love it!”, Paul told him. “Where are you going to buy it?” Ryan looked uncomfortable. “Well… that’s kind of where I was hoping you could help…” Paul had been lying on top of his bed with his laptop on his lap, but he put the laptop aside and gave Ryan his full attention. “Why do I get the feeling that I’m not going to like this?” “I’m not exactly buying the bench”, Ryan said. “Well I certaintly hope your not going to steal it” Ryan laughed nervoulsy. “No, not steal one. I want to build it for her” Paul started laughing untill he realized that Ryan was actually serious. “You’re serious, aren’t you?”, he asked. “Yea, I kind of am”, Ryan laughed. “You don’t even know how to build a bench”, Paul pointed out. “And besides, how are you going to hide it from Anna? We’re going to be on tour” “I’ll figure something out”, Ryan said. “I want her to have something special. Something just from me to her” “How are you going to do the engraving?”, Paul asked. “Well, I’ll take it into a shop for that”, Ryan said. “But I want to build the bench” “You don’t know how”, Paul said again. “That’s why I have you”, Ryan smiled. Paul laughed. “I don’t know how”, he said. “Hmmm…”, Ryan thought for a minute. “We can ask Keith”, he suggested. “You really think that Keith, the surfer boy, is going to know how to build a bench?”, he raised one eyebrow. Ryan sighed and started pacing. “Look, I know it’ll be hard, but I want to do this. Can you at least try to help me?” “I’ll try…”, Paul said. “Are we gonna get the other lads on this too?” “Yea. Let’s go ask them” “Now?”, Paul asked. “Why not?”, Ryan wanted to know. “Well, for one thing, I think George is on the phone with Carrie, Damian went for a run, and Keith went out with Katie” “Yea, I’ll have to ask them later”, Ryan said. “Well, I’m gonna go hang with Anna… I feel bad about leaving you alone though” Paul felt bad for himself too, but he tried to ignore this. “I’m fine”, he told Ryan. “Go spend time with Anna. Plan your wedding or something” “You sure?”, Ryan asked. “Yea”, Paul wasn’t sure if he was reassuring Ryan, or himself. “I’m gonna go take a walk anyway. Get some fresh air” “Okay, later”, Ryan said as he walked out. Paul sighed. It looked like he was going on a walk. He considered just staying in and watching TV, except he knew that Ryan would ask later. He reluctantly got off the bed and went outside. He didn’t know where he was walking, but he ended up on a little side street with a bunch of small cafes. “Paul?”, a voice called.

Paul turned around at the sound of his name. “Zara?”, he asked. Zara was sitting at a small table outside one of the cafés. “What are you doing here?”, Paul asked. Zara laughed. “Well, Anna and Katie are kind of busy, and I didn’t want to hang around the hotel feelong sorry for myself. So I decided to come here” “Yea, I’m pretty much in the same boat”, Paul sighed. “All the other lads aren’t really available at the moment” “Do you want to sit down?”, Zara asked. Something in Paul’s heart lept at this offer. Still, he didn’t want to be rude. “I don’t want to inturrupt anything”, he said. Zara just laughed. “I’m by myself. How would you be inturrupting?” “I don’t know”, Paul laughed. “I just wanted to make sure” “Sit down Paul”, Zara ordered playfully. Paul laughed and sat down across from her. “So, how’s it going?”, he asked. “Pretty good”, Zara answered. “Belinda told me that she’s going to keep your dip” “Really?”, Paul laughed. “Belinda actually took one of my suggestions seriously for once?” “Looks like it”, Zara smiled. “The fans are going to love it”, Paul predicted. “Just as long as you don’t drop me”, Zara teased. “You have my word m’lady”, Paul joked. “Did you order something?”, he asked. “No, I was just kind of sitting here” “Well, it’s no use sitting here if we’re not going to eat something”, Paul said as he waved a waiter over. “What do you want?”, he asked Zara. “I don’t have any money on me”, Zara objected. “But you can get something” Paul just stared at her. “Did you really think that I was going to make you pay for your own meal?”, he asked. “I thought you knew me better than that” “Paul, you don’t have to. I’m not even hungry”, Zara told him. Paul just rolled his eyes. “What’s the special tonight?”, he asked the waiter. “Clam chowder”, the elderly waiter said. “I highly recommend it” “Is that okay?”, Paul asked Zara. He raised an eyebrow at her. “Yes, that sounds wonerful”, Zara told him. “And thank you Paul”, she added, smiling. “Ahh.. young love”, the waiter commented. “And your young man is right. “It’s only right for a man to pay for his date” Paul and Zara looked at eachother. “Oh it’s not a date”, Paul explained quickly. “We work together”, Zara added. “Maybe not yet”, the elderly man commented. “But I see something… a spark between you two” Paul laughed akwardly. “Well, if we do end up getting married, you are personally invited to the wedding” The waiter just winked at them and left to get their food. “Well that was akward”, Paul said, after a pause. Zara gave a half laugh. “Yea…”, she said distractedly. They were both silent for a couple minutes, both thinking. Paul was amazed that the old man could see through him that quickly. Wait. See through him? Paul didn’t think of Zara that way… did he? He looked at Zara and watched her play with her necklace. Entwining her long, slender fingers around the chain, playing with the small, heart shaped pendant. She was beautiful. But how could this happen? He hadn’t seen her this way last tour. She had been just a friend. Now Paul wanted to be more. At some point during these last few days of rehearsing, something had changed. He studied Zara again. She seemed to be doing some thinking herself. But about what? Right now, her face looked confused and sad. Why? “I’m sorry if that man offended you”, Paul said softly. “We can leave if you want” “What?”, Zara looked at him. “Oh no, he didn’t offend me” “You sure?”, Paul asked. “You look upset about something” “No”, Zara said again. “It’s not that. I’m fine” She put a smile on that beautiful face of hers. “What were we talking about?”, she asked. “Work”, Paul vaugley remembered. “But I don’t want to talk about that” “Well, what do you want to talk about?”, Zara put her elbow on the table and propped her chin up with her hand. “Tell me your dreams”, Paul suggested. “I’ve been very blessed”, Zara said. “All my dreams have come true. My dancing, touring with you guys… how can I ask for anything more?” “So, if you died tomorrow, you’d die happy?”, Paul asked. Although he wasn’t entirely comfortable with thinking about her dying. “Well, I’d like a chance to settle down”, Zara said. “Get married, have a coulpe kids” “Sounds like a reasonable dream to me”, Paul smiled. “What about you?”, Zara asked. “Pretty much the same thing”, Paul replied. “I’ve lived my dreams. All this… it’s amazing. The only thing missing is a wife and kids” “I love kids”, Zara smiled. “I love getting them at Meet and Greets” “Me too”, Paul laughed. “Kids are hilarious” “I know”, Zara agreed. “They’re so sweet” “Well what’s keeping you from living your dream?”, Paul asked. Zara laughed. “I don’t know if I want to give this all up yet”, she replied. “It’s kind of hard to perform and take care of a family at the same time” “Says who?”, Paul asked. Zara just raised her eyebrows at him. “Okay, so your right”, Paul laughed. “I guess that would be kind of hard with kids. But you could make it work with just a husband for a while” “I have to find one first”, Zara said. “I don’t think anyone’s really interested at the moment” Paul was shocked. “I find that very hard to believe”, he said seriously. Zara shrugged. “Well they’re not making it very obvious”, she said. “And what do yo propose these lads do?”, Paul asked. “To let you know I mean” Zara thought for a minute. “Just tell me I guess”, she said. “Or do somethig crazy and sweep me off my feet”, she joked. Paul thought about this, and was shocked to find out that he wanted to do that. He wanted to be the man to sweep Zara off her feet.

“So was the food any good?”, Paul asked when they were done eating. “Yes, it was very good”, Zara comented. “Thank you Paul” “You keep talking as if I actually minded”, Paul laughed. “Well, thanks for keeping me company tonight. This was fun” “It was fun”, Paul agreed. “You and I don’t get a lot of time to hang out” “Yea…”, Zara sounded distracted again. Paul laughed. “And besides, YOU were the one keeping ME company. If it weren’t for you, I’d be stuck in my hotel room, watching boring TV shows” Zara laughed. “You would have figured something out” “I don’t think so”, Paul shook his head. “So what should we do now?”, he asked. Zara thought for a moment. “Well… I should practice my dancing…” Paul laughed. “You really love it, don’t you?” Zara’s eyes got noticably brighter and Paul could hear the joy and passion in her voice. “I do”, she said. “I don’t think I could live without it. If I couldn’t dance…” Paul waited for her to continue. “I don’t know”, she shrugged. “I don’t think I’d be able to function” Paul looked at her. She was amazing. “I feel the same way about singing”, he said. “If I couldn’t sing… I’d be miserable” “So do you wan to go over the new moves for That’s A Woman?”, Zara asked. “I’d love to”, Paul laughed. “But where?” Zara just smiled. “Come on, I’ll show you” She led him down a few blocks and off onto a side road. “This is my secret spot”, she announced as she led Paul to a small clearing by a river. The clearing was surrounded by trees and it looked as if they had stepped into the setting for a fairy tail. It was just getting to get dark as the sun set on the horizon. Paul had been looking around. When he turned back to Zara, the sun had caught just right on her hair and Paul caught his breath. Why did she have to be so breathtakingly beautiful? Paul cleared his throat. “So, umm, which part did you want to go over again?”, he asked. “Just the new part”, Zara said. “When Ryan’s singing and your just harmonizing with ‘woman” “You mean when I turn you like this…”, Paul turned her. “And then you cross over with your left foot…” “And your looking at Ryan, but I turn your face to look at me”, Zara demonstrated. “And then…” Without saying a word, Paul spun her around and quickly dipped her, but instead of pulling her back up, he lowered her down farther and gently let her drop. “Hey!”, Zara protested from the ground. Paul laughed softly and sat down on the ground next to her. “I’m sorry”, he said guiltily. “I couldn’t resist” Zara laughed. “You’re not going to do that on stage are you?” “Now you know I wouldn’t”, Paul said. “I’m kidding”, Zara laughed. She sighed and leaned back on her arms. “I love this place” “How did you find it?”, Paul asked. “I was just wandering around and came across it” “It’s beautiful”, Paul said even though he was looking at Zara. Fortunatly for him, she didn’t notice. “It’s getting dark”, Zara commented. “Yea, we should probably go back”, Paul said in a dull voice. Neither of them moved. After a few minutes, Paul finally stood up and offered his hand to Zara to help her up. She took it, and in that moment, Paul didn’t want to let go. Her hand was soft and warm and Paul wanted to hold on forever. Still, he let go at the appropriate time and led Zara back down the trail to the main road. “So what are you going to do now?”, Zara asked when they got back to the hotel. “I’m not sure yet”, Paul laughed. “Damian’s probably back from his run by now and will want to hang out”, for some reason, hanging with Damian wasn’t nearly as appealing as hanging with Zara. “Oh”, Zara sounded disappointed. “Well have fun then”, he voice cheered up a little. Paul blinked. He wasn’t expecting her to run off quite so quickly. “I guess I’ll see you later then”, he said as she walked away. She threw a little wave over her shoulder. What had just happened? Paul shook his head, trying to clear it and went off to find Damian.

Paul walked through the hotel lobby to go find Damian. What had just happened with Zara? She seemed to be in quite a hurry to be leaving. And what was with his heart? Paul groaned inwardly. He needed a disraction, and Damian was just the lad to help him with that. He looked around and saw a bunch of kids playing with hula hoops in the corner of the hotel lobby. He walked over, asked the kids if he could borrow one, and went up to Damian’s room. “Damian”, Paul called as he knocked on the door. “What?”, Damian asked as he opened it. Paul grinned. “I’ll give you $10 if you can keep this going for a full 10 minutes”, Paul said as he held up the hula hoop. “What?”, Damian laughed. “Are you serious?” “I’m very serious”, Paul said. Damian just stared at him, as if waiting for a punch line. “What? Can’t do it?”, Paul asked. “Are you only making me do this cus your bored again?”, Damian asked. “Yea, pretty much”, Paul shrugged. This wasn’t entirely the case, but Damian didn’t have to know that. Damian just rolled his eyes. “Fine”, he said. “But if I make it, you have to beat my time” “Well! Someone’s getting a bit cockey”, Paul scoffed playfully. “Can’t do it?”, Damian quoted. “I was able to hula hoop before you were even born Lad”, Paul teased. Damian didn’t reply. He just took the hoop from Paul and stepped in. He got himself ready, and swung the hoop around his waist. He kept it going for exactly 2 seconds before the hoop fell on the floor. Paul looked at him, trying not to laugh. Instead, he cleared his throat. “Hold on, let me try again”, Damian said. He picked up the hoop and tried again. Just like before, the hoop fell within seconds. This time, Paul did laugh. Not in a mean way, in a, ‘I can’t believe you just bragged and now you failed’ way. “Well you try it then”, Damian handed the hoop to Paul. “It’s not as easy as it looks” This is exactly what Paul had needed. A distraction to get his mind off Zara. “Watch and learn, Little Bro”, he said. He stepped into the hoop and swung it around his waist. The hoop didn’t even stay up for half a second. Damian, of course, laughed, and Paul frowned at the hoop on the ground. “I used to be able to do it…”, he said. “When you were what, 12?”, Damian asked. “No, actually it was 10”, Paul said matter of factly. “I thought it’d be something yo never forget though…” “Here”, Damian took the hoop. “I think you gotta swing your hips more”, he said as he tried again. The hoop fell to the ground. “Fail”, Paul said. “Hmm… I thought you just had to…” “What are you lads doing?”, George asked as he passed their open door. “Do you know how to hula hoop?”, Paul asked him. George laughed. “Why?”, he asked. “We were having a contest”, Damian explained. “Except we figured out that we forgot how to hula hoop”, Paul put in. “Now Paul’s just being stubborn”, Damian laughed. “He’s determined to get this” George stepped into the room. “Let me try” “Good luck”, Paul said as he handed the hoop to George. George tried the hula hoop, but just like the others, the hoop fell within seconds. “Now what the heck?”, George said. “Hold on”, Paul got out his cell phone and called Ryan. “Ryan, you need to get up here” Damian tried again while Paul was on the phone. “I know your with Anna, but this will only take a minute”, Paul continued. “Okay, thanks”, he hung up. “Let me try again”, George reached for the hoop. “Maybe it’s not us…”, Damian suggested. “Maybe it’s broken” “How does a hula hoop get broken?”, Paul asked. “I don’t know”, Damian said. “It was just a thought…” Just then, Ryan walked into the room. “You lads owe me”, he said. “Big time” “Sorry Ryan”, George said. “It was Paul’s idea” Ryan turned on Paul. “Okay, then YOU owe me big time”, he said. “Why are we trying to hula hoop again?” “II think it’s just to say that we can by now”, George laughed. “It started as a contest between me and Damian”, Paul explained. Ryan raised his eyebrows. “Okay, well let me try so that I can get out of here”, he said. “Were ya in the middle of somethin’ Ry?”, Damian laughed. “Oh not much, just planning the most important day of my life”, Ryan answered. “But I’d much rather ditch the woman I love and come up here to play hula hoops with you lads” “Just try it Ryan”, Paul said. “Just once, then you can get back to Anna” “Only once”, Ryan repeated as he took the hoop. He swung it around his waist, and after about 2 seconds, it fell. “Well that was fun”, he said. “Later”, he walked from the room. ?Maybe it IS broken”, Paul said. Damian laughed. “Told you”, he said. “What’s the craic guys?”, Keith asked as he walked in. “I thought you were with Katie”, George said. Keith took a seat on the bed. “I was. But she was tired and wanted to go to bed early, and this is too early for me! What’s the craic?” “Nothing anymore”, Paul said as he sat in a chair. “I give up” Keith looked at Damian and George. “What happened?”, he asked them. “We were trying to hula hoop”, George explained. “Except it didn’t work”, Damian put in. Keith laughed. “You guys can’t hula hoop?”, he asked. “It’s NOT as easy as it looks”, Damian said. Keith just laughed again. “Here”, he reached for the hoop. He swung the hoop around his waist and for once, it didn’t fall. The other lads just looked at him in disbelief. “How are you doing that?”, Paull asked incredeously. “Surfin”, Keith laughed, still keeping it going. “It’s all in the hips” “We were moving our hips!”, Damian exclaimed. “Maybe just not enough”, Keith replied. He purposly stopped the hoop. “Wanna try again?”, he asked them. “No”, Damian said firmly. Just then, there was a knock on the door. When Damian opened it, Sharon was standing in the doorway.

“Oh…”, Damian said as he faced Sharon in the doorway. “Hey Sharon!”, he brightened his voice. “Hello Damian”, Sharon greeted in a neutral voice. “What are you lads doing in here?” “Uhhh….”, Damian looked back at the other lads. “Do you four know that there’s a little girl down in the lobby who can’t leave with her gymnastics group without her hula hoop?”, Sharon continued. “I overheard her telling her teacher that a brown haired man borrowed it” “Well what made you think it was us?”, Paul asked. “Because I know my boys”, Sharon answered. The lads all looked at eachother. “We were only borrowing it”, Paul said. “We wanted to make sure that it wasn’t broken”, George put in. Damian laughed and quickly turned it into a cough. Amazingly, Sharon laughed. “Can I please have the hula hoop?”, she turned to Keith. “Oh. Right”, Keith handed the hoop to her. “Maybe, if you lads are good, I’ll buy you a hoop for the tour”, Sharon lauged as she left the room. “No thank you!”, Paul called as Keith laughed. “I couldn’t get that thing to work for the life of me!” The lads could hear Sahron laugh as she walked down the hall. “So now what do we do?”, Damian asked. Now that the excitement was over, Paul’s thoughts immediately went back to Zara. He wondered if he should tell the lads. No. He didn’t think that would be a good idea. Him and Zara were co-workers, and co- workers weren’t supposed to get into relationships… “I think I’m gonna go t bed lads”, Paul said as he stood up. “Why?”, Damian asked. “Yea, it’s early”, Keith put in. “Yea, but I’m tired”, Paul said. “See you in the morning” Paul went to his room, and after about an hour of tossing, he finally fell asleep.
The next morning, he woke up and immediately thought of Zara. He wanted to see her again. No, he NEEDED to see her again. He got out of bed, got dressed, and thought about what to do. He got out his cell phone and called Zara. “Hello?”, her voice sounded groggy. “Oh I’m sorry Zara”, Paul apologized. “Did I wake you up?” “It’s ok”, Zara’s voice cheered up. “What’s up?” “Well”, Paul hadn’t had a plan before he called. He had just known that he wanted to see her. “I had so much fun yesterday, I was wondering if you wanted to do something again…” “Oh I’d love to”, Zara exclaimed. “What did you have in mind?” “Do you want to get breakfast?”, Paul offered before he even knew what he was going to say. That happened all the time. He never knew what was going to come out of his mouth next. “I’d love to”, Zara said. “Where should we go?” “I could take you to this small bakery I know of”, Paul suggested. “That sounds fun”, Zara said. “When should we meet?” “Well, you kind of just woke up…”, Paul laughed a little. “How long will it take you to get ready?” “20 minutes”, Zara promised. Paul smiled to himself. “Alright then. I’ll be outside the hotel”, he hung up the phone and just sat on the bed for a minute, grinning like a fool. This was insane. He had known this woman for 2 years, and feeling like this had never occurred to him before. When 20 minutes had finally passed, he went downstairs to meet Zara. “Hey”, she called when she saw him. Zara looked beauiful, and Paul felt his heart skip a beat. “Hey yourself”, he grinned. Oh how he wanted to hold her hand. He settled for a kiss on the cheek. A kiss on the cheek was ok. Except for That’s A Woman, he had never kissed her before, but he kissed fans all the time. None the less, he noticed that Zara was blushing as he pulled away. “So how are you this fine morning?”, Paul asked, “I’m good!”, Zara gave him a smile. “How are you?” “Well, I’m about to have breakfast with a beautiful girl, so I’m doing pretty well at the moment”, Paul told her. Zara laughed. “And I’m about to have breakfast with a very handsome man” Tha comment made Paul feel about 10 feet off the ground. “So we have rehearsal later today”, he commented as the took a small table in the café. “Yes”, Zara agreed. “You better not drop me this time” Paul laughed. “I promise”, he said. “So tell me, what do you like most about dancing?” That was all it took. Zara’s face lit up and she started talking about the moves, music, and even stretching. “And when you get a good beat, and you know your hitting it just right… and then being able to convey emotion in the moves”, Zara said. “Putting feeling into the dance is everything” Paul stared at her. It was amazing to see just how passionate she was about this. After about 5 minutes, Zara finally paused for breath. “I love you”, Paul blurted out. Zara had just been about to start up again, but when she heard that, she looked at him. “What?”, she asked.

this is probably the most important post ofthe whole story lol. enjoy!
Paul did not just say that. He did NOT just tell Zara that he loved her. But judging on the look on Zara’s face… it appeared as though he had. Shoot! Why did his mouth always have to get him into trouble? He hadn’t even known that he loved her until he blurted that out. But he did love her. It was as clear as day now. He loved Zara. Still, blurting it out the way he just had was probably not the best way to go about telling her. “What did you say?”, Zara whispered. “I’m sorry Zara”, Paul apologized. “I shouldn’t have said that. I mean, it’s true, but I shouldn’t have said it” “Why not?”, Zara asked. Paul blinked. Wasn’t it obvious? “Well, because I know that you probably don’t love me that way, and I don’t want to make things awkward…” “Oh Paul”, Zara laughed. “Things have been different this tour…. I’ve felt things that I didn’t think I should feel. I love you too” Paul was the happiest man alive. He got a huge smile on his face and laughed out loud. “This is so crazy!”, he exclaimed. “How come we knew each other for years, and yet we only love each other now?” “I don’t know”, Zara laughed. “But I can’t say that I mind”
“Me either”, Paul said softly as he moved in to kiss her. Now Paul had kissed Zara before of course, but it had never felt like this. Those had been stage kisses. This kiss was him telling her that he loved her. And amazingly, she was telling him back. No stage kiss could ever compare to how this one felt now. They were like two completely different genres. Paul finally broke away. “Wow”, was all Zara said. Paul started laughing in sheer delight of her. She didn’t even know how adorable she was. “Not like on stage, huh?”, Paul asked. “Let’s just say that that was NOT how I’d imagined it”, Zara said. Paul took her hand. “So you were fantasizing about me”, he laughed. “Maybe a little”, Zara giggled, and it made Paul smile. “You know… I was doing some fantasizing too”, Paul said slowly. “And my fantasies always ended up in Sharon not liking us loving each other” “Why?”, Zara asked. “What’s wrong with us loving each other?” “Zara honey, I haven’t a clue”, Paul said. “But I’m not going to risk you…or me, but especially you, getting fired” “I still don’t see why she would care”, Zara grumbled. Paul laughed. “Well I just don’t want to risk anything”, he said. “Have you told anyone?” “That I love you?”, Zara asked. Paul beamed just at hearing those words. “No, for some reason, I didn’t tell anyone”, Zara answered. “Good”, Paul sighed. “Then let’s just keep it between us. At least for now” Zara gave him a sad smile. “Then how am I ever going to see you?”, she asked. “We’ll think of something”, Paul promised, trying not to let her know that he was worried about that very thing. “We’ll sneak out if we have to” “Yea, that’s really going to work”, Zara said sarcastically. “Then Sharon will find out and it’s back to instructing dance class for me” “Zara sweetheart, don’t worry”, Paul said. “I’m here. I won’t let anything happen to you.” He’d quit the group before he’d let Zara get fired. “I love you Paul”, Zara stated. “I love you too Zara”, Paul said. “More than you’ll ever know”, he kissed her again. “But we’re going to have to be careful”, he said as he broke away. “I can be careful”, Zara smiled. “But if we’re going to be careful, then we better go back” “You’re right”, Paul sighed reluctantly. “You go first, then I’ll go back in about 10 minutes. “Alright”, Zara stood up. Paul stood up as well and grabbed her around the waist before she could get away. “I love you”, he murmured as he rested his forehead against hers. “I love you too”, Zara whispered as she kissed him lightly on the lips. “I’ll see you at rehearsal later”, she promised as she backed away. “See you then”, Paul gently let her go. “But don’t let anything on…” “I won’t”, Zara winked as she turned around and walked to the door. But just before she stepped outside, she turned around and gave him the alluring look she used to give him in Nights In White Satin. This was followed by a playful smirk as she slipped out the door and Paul nearly laughed out loud. He sighed as he sat down at the table to wait the 10 minutes. This was going to be a very interesting tour.
ok, NOW we're finally at the main plot of the story! lol

“Paul”, Damian called. “Where have you been?” “Just taking a walk”, Paul said as he walked into the hotel lobby. “Long walk”, Damian muttered to himself. “But guess what?”, he got excited. His face was lit up like it was Christmas morning. “What’s up?”, Paul asked. “Gianna’s coming tomorrow!”, Damian exclaimed. Paul broke into a smile. He knew how much Damian missed his girlfriend. “That’s great D!”, he said. “For how long?” “For a week”, Damian replied. “I’m so excited! You have no idea how much I’ve missed her” “No, not at all”, Paul said sarcastically. “You’ve only been talking about her 24/7” Damian grinned. “You just don’t get it. Don’t worry, when you find yourself a girl, you’ll understand” Paul laughed, trying not to show what he was really thinking. “Are you our woman expert now?”, he asked. “Sure am”, Damian laughed. “Hey Keith”, he called as Katie and Keith got out of the elevator. Keith and Katie both had huge grins on their faces. “What’s the craic Damian?”, Keith asked as they walked up. “What are you two smiling about?”, Paul asked. Keith and Katie looked at each other. “Nothing”, Katie said and Keith put his arm around her shoulders. Paul just rolled his eyes. “Don’t worry Paul”, Keith said. “When you find yourself a girl, you’ll understand” Paul decided to ignore that statement. “So what’s got Damian so excited?”, Katie asked. “Gianna’s coming!”, Damian beamed. “Oh that’ll be fun!”, Katie said. “I’ve missed her” “So have I”, Damian agreed, still grinning like a fool. Just then, Keith’s cell phone rang. “Hey Ryan”, he greeted. He listened for a moment. “Ryan wants to know what you two are doing before rehearsal today”, he said to Paul and Damian. “Nothing”, Damian answered. “I don’t think I’m doing anything either”, Paul said. “Why?” “That’s a good question. I’ll ask”, Keith got back on the phone. “They say nothing, and they want to know why.” After a few seconds, he turned to Katie. “You’re going shopping with Anna and Zara?”, he asked. Paul’s heart leapt at the name. “We were thinking about it”, Katie replied. “But we never made definite plans, so I didn’t say anything” After a few more minutes of discussion with Ryan, Keith got off the phone. “Okay, you my dear”, he turned to Katie, “Are going to go up to Anna’s room. And you two”, he turned to Paul and Damian. “Are supposed to come with me” “What for?”, Damian asked. “I don’t know”, Keith shrugged. “I’m just telling you what I was told” “Well, it looks like I’m going shopping”, Katie said. “I’ll see you later”, she gave Keith a kiss. “Hey, be careful”, Keith cautioned. “Nothing bads allowed to happen to you ya know” “I’ll be careful”, Katie smiled. “I love you” “Love you too”, Keith said as she walked off. He stared after her for a second, then turned to the other two. “Okay, I’m supposed to take you two to the venue”, he said. “Ryan wants to work on Anna’s bench”
When they got there, Ryan was surrounded by tools and wood. “Hey Ryan. Gianna’s coming tomorrow!”, Damian announced as they walked in. “That’s great Damian”, Ryan exclaimed. “I bet your excited” “Oh he is”, Paul decided to have some fun with the 17 year old. “He’s only been telling everyone he sees. Actually, I’m surprised he hasn’t told the hotel’s manager yet”, he said and Ryan laughed. “Now how are we supposed to build this bench?”, Keith asked. “Well… I don’t really know”, Ryan answered. “But it can’t be too hard” “Wanna bet?”, Damian asked. “My dad’s good at these kinds of things. Where’s George? He’s a dad. Dad’s know this stuff” “They do?”, Keith asked. “Mine does”, Damian laughed. “I called George”, Ryan said. “He’ll be here in a few minutes. But in the meantime, I got this ‘how to build a bench book’ For the next few minutes, the lads poured over the book and argued about how to get started. “I still don’t know why you just can’t buy the bench”, Paul said as he tried to line up the base boards. “Because it’s not as special that way”, Ryan said. “You’ll understand when you get a girlfriend” That was the third time one of them had said that in the last hour. Paul hoped they didn’t know anything… But how could they? He and Zara had only talked that morning. Just then, George showed up. “Oh good, you’re here”, Ryan said. “Do you know anything about building benches?” “Nope”, George stated. “I was hoping you did” “Kind of”, Ryan replied. “Here, grab that board and we’ll attach it” For the next 3 hours, the lads worked on the bench. Then, finally, it was time for rehearsal. Paul would be able to see Zara again.

“So, how was your shopping?”, Ryan asked Anna when they all met up again. “It was fun!”, Anna replied. “We were shopping for wedding dresses” “She looked gorgeous Ryan. You’re going to love it”, Katie put in from Keith’s arms. He was holding her from behind, his arms protectively around her waist. Ryan raised his eyebrows. “You bought a dress?”, he asked Anna. “Yep!”, Anna grinned. “But you’re not allowed to see it” “How are you going to hide it if we’re on tour?”, Paul asked. “We’re going straight from here to the states” “We’re having it shipped from the shop to back home”, Zara answered him. Paul looked at Zara. She had a small smile on her lips, but nothing too out the ordinary. He wanted to go to her. To wrap his arms around her and never let her go, but he didn’t. “Well, that’s a good idea”, was all he said. “She looks amazing Ry”, Zara continued, turning to him. “You’ll drop dead when you see her” “Oh I believe it”, Ryan smiled, putting his arm around Anna’s shoulders and kissing her temple. “Ok guys, time to work”, Belinda called. “There are some new steps in Every Breath You Take, so we’re going to go over that first” Paul watched Ryan and Zara go off to the stage and thought about Zara’s role in the show. She ended up leaving with Ryan, and strangely, that thought didn’t bother him. If it had been real life, he would have been upset about it. But Paul knew that this was just an act. He knew that Zara loved him, and Ryan loved someone else. Sure he wasn’t totally comfortable with Ryan staring at her like he was the hunter and she was the prey, since Ryan was an actor and actor’s had to get into a certain mind set for that sort of thing. But it was all an act, Paul knew that… “Paul”, a voice broke into his thoughts. “What?”, he turned to Anna, who was standing in front of him, holding back laughter. “You were zoned out”, Anna explained. “In your own little dream world” Crap. He’d have to be more careful. “Was I?”,he asked. “Sorry, just thinking about the tour” “It’s ok”, Anna laughed. “So what were you lads doing while we were shopping?” Paul hated lying. Especially to his best mate’s fiancé. But it looked like he was going to have to get used to it if he was going to be keeping any secrets. “Not much. I beat Damian on Wii a bunch of times”, he said. He’d have to tip Damian off at some point. Paul chuckled to himself, the 17 year old was going to love that. Anna laughed. “Poor Damian”, she said. “He always gets picked on” “I’m his brother, I have to pick on him”, Paul defended himself. “It’s kind of in the job description” Anna laughed again. “Oh, I just remembered that I have to tell George something”, she said. “I’ll talk to you later” Anna went off to find George and Paul got on his laptop. After about 30 minutes, Ryan and Zara came off stage and Keith went up. Ryan went off to find Anna, and Damian was off who knows where, so Paul motioned Zara over. “Hey”, she said softly. “I thought we weren’t talking here” “No one’s around”, Paul assured her. “And we can talk a little. It’d be too suspicious otherwise. Just not a lot and for long periods of time” “Good”, Zara smiled as she sat down next to him at the small table. “So what are you doing?” “Lurking in the pub, checking myspace, and writing a blog for the fans. They’re having a very interesting conversation right now. Something about my hips and swanky walking”, he laughed. Zara giggled. “I bet they would die if they knew you were there” Paul laughed. “That they would”, he replied. He wondered if all the crazy fans bothered Zara. If all those other women oogling at him and swooning at his hips made her upset even in the slightest. He knew he wasn’t jealous of Ryan because it was an act. But the fans weren’t acting… they really studied him like that. Now was NOT the time or the place to ask Zara’s opinion. But still… “Met me at out spot tonight”, he said in a low voice. He took a pen and wrote the number 10 on her hand. “Our spot?”, Zara whispered back. “Where we danced that first night”, Paul explained. Zara looked at the 10 on her hand, then at him, and then smiled. “I’ll be there”, she whispered.

whoot!! the threads back up!! i've got a lot of updates for you guys! lol
Paul got to the spot at 9:45 that night. After about 10 minutes, he saw Zara’s sillouette appearing through the trees and he smiled. She was so beautiful. He had been leaning against a tree, but when he saw her, he pushed himself off and met her halfway. “Hey”, he whispered as he wrapped her in his arms. “Mmm… hi”, Zara murmered as she hugged him back. She ran her fingers through the hair on the back of his head. “And how is my lovely Zara tonight?”, Paul asked. Zara pulled back and looked at him. “Wonderful”, she said simply. Paul in turn, gave her a quick kiss. He took her hand and led her to a blanket he had spread out underneath a tree. On the blanket were two napkins and a small package of Oreo cookies. “You brought food?”, Zara looked touched. “Well I couldn’t let you starve, now could I?”, Pal replied, pleased with her reaction. “I know it’s not a gormet meal, but it was the best I could do under the circumstances” Zara leaned over and kissed his cheek. “It’s perfect”, she said. “Thank you” “You are very welcome”, Paul smiled. He leaned back and pulled Zara so that she was leaning against his chest. “I’ve been meaning to talk to you about something…”, he said slowly. “Uh- oh”, Zara replied. “Oh no, it’s nothing bad!”, Paul reassured her. “I was just thinking about the fans. Does it bother you that they’re all over me?” “Not really”, Zara answered. “I know it’s all in the job” “Okay, good”, Paul sighed. “Even though I love them as fans, you know you’re the only girl for me” “Zara smiled. “Thanks Paul. Now if one of them seriously tries to steal you from me… then I’d have a problem” “It’ll never happen”, Paul promised. “Even if they did try, it’d never work. I belong to you and you alone” Zara snuggled closer to him in response and Paul held her tighter. “What are we going to do Paul?”, Zara asked. “We can’t keep this a secret, it’s too hard” “We can do it”, Paul said. “After the tour is over, we’ll have some time off, and you and me will be able to spend more time together.” He started playing with her hair. “Okay”, Zara sighed contentedly. It sounded as if she didn’t really care at the moment. Paul chuckled. “Your hair’s so soft Zara”, he noted as he wrapped a strand around her finger. “You know what’s always impressed me about girls?” “What’s that?”, Zara asked. “Braiding hair”, he said. “I never understood how to do that” “Do you want to learn?”, Zara asked. Paul blinked. “You want me to braid your hair?”, he asked. “Sure, why not?”, Zara replied. She sat up and turned her back to him. “Just divide the hair into three sections and cross them over each other”, she said as she demonstrated. Paul was impressed. She had the whole thing braided in about 30 seconds. “Show me again”, he requested gently. Zara undid the braid and then put it together again, this time more slowly. It looked so simple. “Okay, let me try”, Paul smiled. Zara undid he braid again and made sure all the hair was on her back. Paul took her hair… and was lost. He just sat there for a few seconds, trying to remember what to do. “Make 3 sections…”. Zara giggled. Paul laughed at how she knew he was stuck, without him even saying anything. “Okay, now what?”, he said once he had made the parts. “Cross the right one over the middle, so that the middle one is now on the right” “Okay…”, Paul’s voice encouraged her to continue. “Now do the same with the other side”, Zara instructed. Paul was surprised. “That’s it?” Zara laughed. “That’s it”, she said. “Now you just have to keep doing that until it’s all braided” Easier said than done, Paul thought to himself as he worked with Zara’s soft, silky hair. Seriously, her hair was like silk. Paul’s fingers tingled as he played with the strands. Ever so slowly, a loose braid started to take shape. “There”, Paul said proudly when he was done. Zara turned back around so that she was facing him and felt the braid. “Not bad”, she said. “Not bad?”, Paul pretended to be offended. “It’s better than not bad!” Zara laughed. “Okay then, it’s very good. For your first try” “Thank you”, Paul said as he pulled her back on his chest and wrapped his arms around her. For the next hour, Paul and Zara talked, joked, laughed, and teased. Then Paul realized the time. “As much as I hate to say this Zara love, we should go back”, he said. “Do we have to?”, Zara turned to look at him, her brown eyes pleading. Paul looked into those dark eyes and knew that they would hold him captive forever. “I wish we didn’t”, he sighed. “If it were up to me, we’d never have to be apart” “Okay”, Zara teased. “Then let’s not be apart. We’ll just stay here forever” Paul laughed. “You’re adorable”, he said. “But we have to go back. Gianna’s coming tomorrow and Damian’ll kill us if we don’t show up” “Damian can’t kill us if we’re not there”, Zara persisted. Paul sighed. Why did she have to be so irresistable? For a second, he considered staying longer, but then he remembered the risks. “Oh no”, he laughed. “You’re feminine charms aren’t going to work on me” Zara laughed as well. “They almost did”, she smiled. “I could see it in your eyes” Paul shook his head and stood up. He then took both her hands and pulled her up next to him. “Tomorrow”, he whispered. He gave her a lingering kiss, and as much as he hated doing it, he then turned around and walked back into reality.

The next morning, Paul and George went to the airport with Damian to pick up Gianna. “Do you realize that your shaking Damian?”, Paul asked as they waited for the plane to land. Damian was indeed, shaking. “I’m just excited”, Damian replied. “We can see that”, Paul laughed. “Go easy on the lad Paul”, George put in. “He hasn’t seen his girlfriend in weeks” Damian stood up and then sat down again. “Do you think I should get her a gift?”, he asked the other two. “I don’t think you have time Damo”, Paul said. “You can get her something when your hanging out tomorrow”, George agreed. “Yea, you’re right”, Damian said. “I can’t believe she’s gonna be here. I miss her so much” “How long is she staying?”, George asked. “One week”, Damian beamed. He checked his phone for the 10th time. “She’ll get here Damian”, George said. “Be patient” Damian didn’t respond and started tapping his foot. Paul almost laughed. He realyyyy hoped the plane wouldn’t be late. He didn’t think Damian would be able to take that. “Are you sure your okay Damo?”, Paul asked. “I’m fine”, Damian insisted. “I just want her to get here…” Just then, Paul saw Gianna walk out of the terminal, her dark curls spilling over her shoulders and her bright blue eyes searching. Upon spotting Damian, she got the biggest grin on her face and started walking faster. Damian breathed her name and had her in his arms in 3 steps. Paul heard him laugh as he whirled her around. Damian said something to Gianna that Paul missed, but whatever it was brought tears to her eyes as Damian kissed her. After a few minutes alone, the reunited couple walked back to Paul and George. Damian had his arm around her waist and his face looked as if it would break if his smile got any bigger. “It’s good to see you again Gianna”, George greeted her as he gave her a quick hug. “Hey Gianna”, Paul hugged her. “How was the flight?” “Long”, Gianna laughed. As soon as Paul and George had hugged her, Damian’s arm went back around her shoulder protectively. “But other than that t was good” “Long?”, Paul laughed. “It was only an hour and a half” Gianna glanced at Damian. “I guess I was a bit impatient”, she confessed. “Well I’m sure Gi doesn’t want to spend her week in an airport”, Damian said. “Let’s go back to the hotel”
When they got back, Gianna was greeted by about a dozen hugs. “It’s good to see you again Gianna”, Anna said. “You’ve been missed” “Yea, Damian’s been going nearly crazy”, Keith added. “Oh I’m sure he wasn’t too bad”, Gianna turned to smile at Damian, who was sitting on the couch beside her, holding her hand. Damian just smiled back at her, gave her a wink, and didn’t say anything. “So Damian, what are you and Gianna going to do while she’s here?”, Ryan asked. “We’ll go out to eat, watch a few movies, I’ll show her my guitar and maybe she can go out golfing with me”, Damian answered. “Pretty much just be together” Paul glanced at Zara. She was looking at the young couple, but Paul saw the corner of her mouth twitch into a small smile as she sensed him looking at her. Paul quickly looked away before he could break out into a smile of his own. “Well, now that our Celtic Thunder family is all here, I have an announcement to make”, Keith said. “Wait. I’m a part of your Celtic Thunder family?”, Gianna asked. “Of course you are!”, Damian hugged her closer. “Of course Gianna!”, Katie added. “And aren’t I a part of this announcement?”, she turned to Keith. “Oh, I mean WE have an announcement”, Keith amended as he pulled Katie closer to his side. “What’s up Keith?”, Paul asked. Keith turned to Katie. “You wanna tell them?” Katie shook her head.“You tell them” “Oh your turning shy on me now”, Keith laughed, hugging her. “Katie’s pregnant”, he announced proudly. The room was silent. “Congratulations!!!”, Anna finally shrieked as she rushed to give Katie a hug. “Careful Anna”, Keith laughed. “She’s in delicate condition” “Oh I’m fine Keith”, Katie scolded playfully. “Wow. Congrats Keith”, Ryan put in. The next few minutes were filled with hugs and congratulations. “When are you due?”, Paul asked. “In 8 months”, Katie smiled. “I’m only about 5 weeks along” “Keith is going to be a dad…”, George trailed off. “Poor kid”, Paul joked and Keith punched his shoulder. “Will you still be able to go on tour?”, Gianna asked. “Yea, I’ll be fine”, Katie answered her. Paul glanced at Zara again and was surprised to find that she was looking at him too. He gave her a quick wink and then looked away. Paul was also surprised to find that he was jealous of Keith. Jealous of the other lads that they could be openly affectionate with the woman they loved. Maybe he should tell Sharon after all…

I love the secrecy, although I agree with Paul, he should tell Sharon.

The next few days went by in a blur. Paul kept going back and forth on whether to tell Sharon. On the one hand, tell Sharon?? What was he thinking?! He’d get fired! Or worse, Zara would get fired. On the other hand, maybe Sharon would be okay with it. She was an understanding person… most of the time. Damian was much happier now that Gianna was here. That is, if the lad could get any happier than he usually was. Paul and Zara also tried to sneak out at least once a day. It didn’t always happen, but they were doing the best they could. One night, Paul and Zara were able to spend a few blissful hours alone and Paul was telling Zara about his sleeping Beauty video. “And they didn’t even know what it was for!”, Paul exclaimed. “I just asked and they totally stepped up!” “That’s amazing”, Zara was impressed. “Well actually, no it isn’t” “It’s not?”, Paul looked at her. “Your voice is just so amazing Paul. I’d want to play it over and over for hours on end too”, Zara smiled at him. Paul thought for a moment. “You know… I’ve never heard you sing…” “Oh no!”, Zara knew what he was getting at. “I don’t sing” “Everybody sings”, Paul countered. “I don’t” “Please?”, Paul brought his face closer to hers. “For me?” “Umm… no?”, Zara replied distractedly. Paul chuckled softly at the effect he had on her. “Sing for ma Zara”, he whispered in her ear. “Stop it Paul!”, Zara laughed as she pushed him away. “That’s cheating” Paul raised his eyebrows. “It’s not cheating if it works” Zara rolled her eyes. “Please Zara?”, Paul asked. “I really would like to hear you” Zara sighed. “Sing what?”, she leaned back against his chest. Paul brightened up. He knew he was winning. “Anything”, he encouraged. He had his arms wrapped around her from behind, but Zara sat up and turned around to face him. “Fine”, she playfully rolled her dark eyes. Just then, Paul’s cell phone rang and they both jumped a bit. Paul didn’t move. “Answer it”, Zara said. “Of all the times for someone to call…”, he muttered as he got out his phone. It was Ryan… Ryan! The bench! Oh no… Paul knew exactly what his mate wanted. “Hey Ryan, before you say anything, I know. I messed up. I’m sorry” “Paul where are you?”, Ryan asked. “You were supposed to be here an hour ago” “I know mate, I completely forgot.” Paul had screwed up. He had completely forgotten that Ryan had wanted to work on the bench that night. Now, Paul was out with Zara, and Ryan couldn’t find out. And Zara couldn’t find out about the bench. He was an idiot. There was no other explanation. Paul. Was. An. Idiot. “Well, if you forgot, its ok”, Ryan said. “But hurry up and get here. George and Keith are measuring wood and Damian’s attempting to use a power saw” “Umm…”, Paul glanced at Zara. “Right. I’ll be there in 15 minutes.” He didn’t really want to leave… But what could he do?” “Thanks Paul. See you soon!”, Ryan hung up. Paul sighed and turned to Zara. “You have to leave?”, Zara looked sad. And Paul didn’t like seeing her sad. He wasn’t entirely happy about it either. “Yea, I do”, he said sadly as he walked over to her. He put his arms around her waist and she linked her arms around his neck. “Why?”, the sweet woman before him asked. Paul couldn’t lie to Zara. He just couldn’t. Yea, it would be better if she didn’t know. And yea, Ryan told him not to tell anyone, but she was good at keeping secrets. Secrets. That’s all his life was lately. “Ryan needs help with Anna’s wedding present”, Paul told Zara. “He’s building her a bench” “Aww! That’s so cute! Anna will love it”, Zara exclaimed. “But you don’t know how to build a bench…” “Neither do the other lads”, Paul laughed. “We’re trying though. I just hope they get Damo away from the power tools soon… Gianna won’t have a boyfriend anymore”, he joked, trying to bring a smile to her face. It worked. Zara’s beautiful face lit up with a smile and she giggled. “There’s the smile I was looking for”, Paul said softly as he brought his lips to hers. “I’ll text you later”, he promised. Texting seemed to be the only safe way of communication between them. “Okay”, Zara said. “Okay”, Paul didn’t move. They stood there for a few seconds, just holding each other. “I gotta go”, Paul finally said. “I know”, Zara frowned. Paul kissed her on the forehead and reluctantly let her go.
When he got to the studio basement, Paul couldn’t believe his eyes. The place was a mess! Wood everywhere! “Finally”, Keith said as Paul walked up. “Hola Paulio!”, Damian called from the table where he was working. “Well someone’s in a good mood”, Paul said. “What should I do?” “Where were you?”, Ryan asked. “I told you. I forgot, ” Paul replied. “What were you doing that was so important, it made you forget?”, George asked.
