Love how Rose and the girls took the upper hand with Keith! Glad Keith apologized to Lisa for what happened in his room and that Sherry is not going to kill him!

Unbeknownst to the girls, Keith had come to the door as they were talking and heard the last part of the conversation. He smiled wryly. He liked Lisa, too, but it was obvious that she and Sherry were very much in love, and that was that. Friends it would have to stay. He banged his way through the door louder than necessary so they would know he was there. "Mornin', Sherry," he said. "Thanks for makin' me have somebody with me, I feel a lot better this mornin'." He held out his hand for inspection. The redness and swelling had subsided, and overall it looked much better. "I kept it under the shower for a while to help rinse any more dirt off." "Good idea. Is it still hurting?" Sherry replied. "A little when the water hit it, but mostly it's stiff," he replied. He showed her that either opening the hand all the way, or trying to touch his thumb to his pinky wasn't something he could do yet. He knew he could hold a guitar pick easily enough, but any kind of finger-picking was going to be tough. "I've got to get this back in shape for the gigs next weekend - is it going to hurt anythin' if I keep stretchin' it out?" "No, as long as you don't push so hard you tear the scab open. If it starts feeling like a sharp pain rather than a stretch, you're going too far. I can see why Sharon took your guitars away when you cut your wrist," Sherry answered, laughing. "You don't have to worry about that." he said, looking mournful. "I sent all the MacPhersons back to the factory for tune-ups. I'm hard on my guitars," he explained," the strings start slippin', I've come close to wearin' through the soundboard under the strings once. I've got to start work on recordin' my second solo album after the new year, so I need'em in good shape. Can I take you two and Mother Rose out to breakfast for helpin' me?" "Only if you take your antibiotic along with you and take it as soon as you get something in your stomach," Sherry said. "Ugh. Maybe you will be as bad as Rebecca," he grinned at her. "Nope, I won't tease you, I'll just nag you constantly," Sherry grinned back.
Sherry did nag him constantly. Four times a day she called his cell phone to remind him to take his antibiotic, and she showed up or sent Lisa or Rosemary every afternoon to soak and rebandage Keith's hand. She knew him well enough by now to know that he could lose track of time for hours if he got really into something he was working on. Keith pretended to get annoyed with her, but he knew she was helping him get better for his gigs and flying home to Ireland, so he wasn't really upset. By Wednesday he had full motion back in his hand and was working on finger-picking with his banjo when she came by to soak his hand. "I thought you said you sent all the instruments away!" Sherry said cheerfully. "I said all the MacPhersons," he grinned back. "This is no MacPherson." "I guess not," she said. "That's a beautiful banjo, where'd you find it?" "Second-hand shop in Nova Scotia, when we were on tour a few years ago. It's over a hundred years old." "Seriously?" she said, surprised. "Aye, it's amazin' what you find in second-hand shops if ya know what ta look for," he said. "I love pokin' around in 'em, I find one in almost every city we go to. 'Course, if I do find lots of good stuff, the guys get mad at me for takin' up too much room on the bus with it. Not that they don't collect all kinds of junk, too." "It sounds like you guys have a good time together," Sherry said as she got things ready for soaking. "Do you miss them when you come back here?" "Yes, and no," he said quietly. "It's great to just be by myself and have things quiet, we're in each other's back pockets for months on the bus and in the venues, and it's really hard to get away from everybody. But at the same time, I'm so used to'em being there that I turn around to talk to'em and I'm surprised they're not here sometimes. And I miss the craic, we're always laughin' or wrestlin' each other or gettin' inta trouble, not just the other guys, but the band and the crew, too. There's 35 of us or so on tour, so there's always somebody around." "Do you stay in touch with them or see them when you're not touring?" "Don't see'em much now that I live in LA," Keith said. "That's about the only bad thing about movin' here. But we email and Skype and stuff, call each other. I don't get into the jokin' around on the public Twitter feed too much, sometimes my humor comes across the wrong way in writin'. But we've got private ways to talk to each other, and we do. When I'm in Ireland, we do get together sometimes, but the things I like to do are so different from the other guys that sometimes it's tough unless we just go out to the pub or a concert or hikin' or somethin'. The other guys go golfin' or go to sports matches together, but none of'em really like to surf or skateboard and I don't like doin' the other things." "Odd man out, huh?" Sherry said sympathetically. "Always have been, story of my life," he said with a wistful grin. "I always had a few mates I could hang out with, but music's been such a big part of my life that it blocks out some people - and the ones I can share the music with don't usually like the stuff I do besides music. I'm a daredevil, and so many musicians are afraid of gettin' hurt. The guys aren't too bad that way, we've gone ridin' mechanical bulls and hikin', ridin' jet skis, racin' go-carts, zip-linin' and stuff when we're on tour, but Sharon's not too keen on us doin' some of it, either." "I guess I can see that from her point of view," Sherry said. "She's got to worry about having one or more of you hurt and not being able to perform. But at the same time, you need some down time from the music, too. I'm surprised she let you get away with the mechanical bulls." "She told us we couldn't, the insurance wouldn't cover it, but we did anyway," he grinned. "Ryan cracked a rib, he just had to shut up and deal with it until it healed, or we'd never have heard the end of it." "How in the world does she put up with you guys?" Sherry laughed. "Between the pranks and the late nights and the danger sports?" "She's just as likely to prank us back, but she likes seein' us have fun, too. She knows we perform better if we get a chance to let it all out every once in a while."

LOL! In the nagging department Sherry could give Rebecca a Run for her money! I know this story is about Mother Rose, but it sounds like to me Keith needs a girlfriend who understands him! I'm fictionally available to fill the role! By the way my real name is Treena.

On the Wednesday before Christmas, Lisa and Sherry were out very late at a party for a friend's engagement. As they passed Keith's boat under a bright full moon, they realized he was still out on deck, laying on his back staring up at the sky. "You all right, Keith?" Lisa asked. "Aye," he said quietly. "Just thinkin'." "It's awfully late," she said. "Or early. Whichever way you look at it." He sat up and turned to look at them. "Full moon," he said. "I can never sleep when it's a full moon. Too much salt water in my veins, I guess." This was easily the quietest, calmest they'd ever seen him, but he seemed troubled. Lisa turned to Sherry. "I'm worried about him," she whispered. "Do you mind if I stay with him for a while?" "No, go ahead," she whispered back. "I'd stay, too, if I didn't have to go to work tomorrow." They kissed and she headed off towards their boat as Lisa climbed onto Keith's and sat down next to him. "I'm fine, girl, you don't have to stay here with me," he said, frowning. "I want to," she said. "Something's bothering you, I can tell, more than just not sleeping." She put an arm around his shoulders. He leaned his head down against hers for a moment, then pulled her down so they were laying on the deck, with her head on his shoulder. "Don't worry, " he said with a faint grin, "I'm not gonna to start anythin'. It just feels good to have somebody to hold onto. Full moon nights are lonely ones, usually everybody's asleep but me. At least if we're travelin' through the night on tour, I can sit up front with Charlie, our bus driver, but usually it's just me once the other guys crash. Somebody usually stays up with me as long as they can, but none of'em can make it the whole time." "I wasn't worried," Lisa said, smiling. "This is actually how Sherry and I got together, she sat up with me one night when I couldn't sleep." He squeezed her tighter for a moment. "You two have been a godsend," he said. "Mother Rose always seems to know just what I need. She's a bit of a guardian angel, really. Don't know if I'd have introduced myself to you if she hadn't. Too many fangirls throwin' themselves at me, it's makin' me nervous about new women unless I can figure out for sure they don't know who I am." Lisa said, carefully, "She told me she'd talked to you about what might happen if you get really famous, and that she's worried whether it'll turn out to be really what you want." Keith signed, heavily. "She did," he acknowledged, "but it's been on my mind anyway. Even a few of my fans have sent me notes and things sayin' they're worried about it. It's what I've always wanted, but the closer I'm gettin' to it, I'm not so sure anymore. I don't fit in with the celebrity world, never have, and I can't see I ever will. I don't even get it, most of the time. There's a few people I feel comfortable with, not many. I grew up in the country, in a family of fishermen, I feel out of place with most of the big names. I just keep sayin' to myself, 'I don't belong here'." "Are you happy with Celtic Thunder?" she asked. "Yes," he said simply. "I never intended to stay more than a year or so, but now I can't imagine leavin' it, I've been there since the beginnin'. Only ever missed one CT show in all these years, that was the night my solo album came out and my label said I had to be in New York for the release. It was incredible, excitin', but it felt wrong at the same time. I didn't do the promo trips either this year, because I was touring for my own album. I loved doin' it, but still, it felt like I was lettin' the other guys down." "How do they feel about it?' Lisa asked. "They support me the whole way," he said. "No hard feelin's, they know it's what I've wanted since the beginning, and they were over the moon as much as I was when I got signed to a label. I'm the only one with an actual contract, most of the other guys have solo albums out but they're not signed to labels. But it's like I'm tryin' to be two places at once, it's wearin' me down." "Which one do you like better?" "I swear, I don't know. I love bein' with CT and doin' shows with my brothers there, and havin' 'em all with me. I love playing small venues on my own, doin' my own stuff and anythin' I want to sing, couple of hundred people where I can see everybody and get out to talk to 'em afterwards. I'm sellin' those out, and I'm proud of it, but the label is thinking I need to aim for bigger venues, an arena tour or something like that, and I just can't see myself doin' that. I've had the chance to talk to people who do, and I'm not sure I like what I'm hearin', havin' to be in the bus or backstage or in the hotel all the time. Isolated. At the same time, I wanna see what it's like for myself, but I'm afraid if I do and it works out that I get to be a big name, if I don't like it my only choices are gonna to be to stick with somethin' I hate or stop performin' all together, and I don't know that I can do either one, ya know?" "What about going along on somebody else's tour as an opening act?" Lisa suggested. "You could see it but not really be stuck in it." "Been talkin' to somebody about that possibility," Keith said. "I don't wanna say who unless we agree ta do it. But I'm thinkin' even that might send things outta my control, if it goes too well, yeah?" "It sounds to me like you have made your decision, mostly," Lisa said. "But it's a really hard step to take. I went through almost the same kind of process when I realized I was in love with another woman. It wasn't something I'd ever thought would happen. I thought I was straight. But the more time I spent with Sherry, the more I started questioning that, and trying to figure out what to do." Even as she said, it, she was nervous as to what Keith would think about what she'd just said. Keith looked over at her, intrigued. "Ya know," he said," I never would have thought about it that way, but you're right, it is the same kind of thing. That actually makes it easier, puts it in perspective, ya know?" Suddenly, he really looked at her expression and started laughing, almost giggling. "Why in the world are you lookin' so shocked?" Lisa looked at him, dumbfounded. "Because you aren't shocked.' "Huh?" he looked bewildered. "I've never talked to anybody about how I decided to go out with Sherry. It just came out of my mouth right now, and I was shocked I said it. And it went right past you, you didn't even see it as anything but a new way to look at your problem. Not that I wanted to imply that mine was a bigger deal, I just figured there'd be some kind of a reaction or a question, or something." He thought for a minute, before slowly answering, "It didn't go past me, it's just somethin' that's never bothered me. People are who they are. As long as you're bein' honest with yourself, you're good in my book. And bein' honest with yourself means bein' able to change what you're doin' to stay true to yourself if you find out somethin' ya didn't know before." "You are absolutely right," Lisa said, "That's exactly what it is. I don't know if I helped you with your problem, but you sure just helped me get over being nervous about what people think about me being with Sherry. I am being true to myself, even though I had to change to do it." He pulled her into a tight hug, then sat up, pulling her with him. "This is one of the best full moon nights I've had in a long time." he said. "Told ya Mother Rose is a guardian angel." He looked over to the east where the first light of dawn was starting to show. "The moon's just about down," he said, yawning. "I should be able ta get ta sleep soon. You probably should, too." He stood up, stretched, and then helped her up. He gave her one more hug before she left, and quick kiss on the forehead. "Thanks, they both said at the same time.

Things are finally starting to work around in my brain on this story again, so there may be an update soon. Fair warning, the next really logical place for me to go with this is George's death, so it will probaby be a rough ride for a bit.
