Lisa Allen walked down the dock at the marina where she lived on a boat with her partner Sherry. They'd been there for about 6 weeks now and were really enjoying it. They'd made some fantastic new friends, and she was heading to visit Rosemary and Jerry Thoms, an older couple they'd become friendly with. Arriving at their boat, she called out a "Good morning!"
"Hi, Lisa, come aboard!" Rosemary called. She was sitting on the deck sipping her morning tea while Jerry was puttering around in the wheelhouse.
"Gorgeous morning, isn't it?" Lisa said as she stepped aboard.
"They don't get much better than this," Rosemary agreed. "Sherry off to work?"
"Yeah, she'll be home around 5. By the way, you know that gorgeous old teak yacht that you guys look after, a few slips from us? Is there supposed to be somebody on her?"
Rosemary sat up, alert. "Did you see someone there?"
"No, heard someone as I was coming past. I heard a tea kettle whistling and then it sounded like something got dropped and I could hear a man's voice muttering. I couldn't hear what he was saying, but it sounded like either he had an accent or he was speaking some other language."
Rosemary relaxed back into her chair. "Oh, good, Keith's finally up. I was starting to wonder if he was going to beat his record." Jerry laughed behind her. "Yeah, that boy can sleep!" he said. Lisa looked confused.
"Keith's the guy who owns the boat," Rosemary explained. "He's Irish, and when he's half asleep sometimes I'm not sure either if his accent is just that thick or if he's speaking Irish. If he's awake enough to be making tea, he'll be out soon. It's about time, he came home three nights ago!"
Lisa gaped at her. "Seriously?" she said. "He's been sleeping for 3 days? Is he OK? And why've you been on the boat the last few mornings if he's home?"
"Checking on him," Rosemary said. "He's a musician and just got back from a 3-month tour, which is why you and Sherry haven't met him yet. He's always exhausted when he comes home, he doesn't sleep that well on the tour bus."
Jerry laughed. "Yeah, tell her what happened the first time he came back to the boat after a tour, " he said, coming out of the wheelhouse and wiping his hands.
"Oh, God," Rosemary said, remembering. "The poor boy."
"What?" said Lisa, curious now. "How old is he, anyway?"
"27, now," said Rosemary. "We met him after he bought the boat and rented the slip here, a couple of years ago now, and he asked us to keep an eye on her for him when he went on tour that year. We saw him coming home after the tour, late one evening, looking like he could barely move with all the stuff he had, so Jerry went out and helped him get his stuff into the boat. What did he have, Jerry, two suitcases and about 4 guitars?"
"Something like that," Jerry said. "And he was trying to get them all there at once because he was too tired to make any extra trips."
"Men," said Rosemary, rolling her eyes. Lisa laughed. "Well, Jerry got him on board and everything under cover and we figured we'd see him the next morning," Rosemary continued. "But we didn't, not the whole day. By the next morning I was pretty worried about him, so I took the key he'd given us and went over with Jerry to check on him."
"She thought maybe he was sick, rather than just tired," Jerry chimed in.
"He didn't answer when I knocked," Rose said, "so I used the key and went in. Good thing I did. I found him in a daze on the sofa, barely awake, still in the clothes he'd gotten home in. There were a couple of empty soda bottles on the table and a few snack bags, but that was it."
"What did you do?" Lisa asked.
"Got him awake enough to tell me that he didn't have anything substantial in the boat to eat or drink and had been too tired to do anything about it. About the only thing he had left was tea, and he was smart enough not to trust himself with lighting the stove in the state he was in. Poor guy was half-starved. I chivvied him into the shower and sent Jerry back for breakfast stuff and some water bottles, and made him breakfast..."
"Several breakfasts!" Jerry corrected, laughing.
"Yeah," Rosemary laughed, remembering. "At least half a dozen eggs, and sausage, and toast, and God knows how much tea! Once he finally woke up all the way, he told me he'd always gone home to his parents' house in Ireland after a tour, and he didn't realize how much his mom and his sister had taken care of him for the first few days. He decided that he needed an 'American mom' and asked me if I'd mind! I told him of course I wouldn't, and he's called me 'Mother Rose' every since. Now he lets me know a few days before he's coming in so I can get some stuff on board for him so he can eat without having to really prepare anything until he wakes up."
"'Mother Rose'," said Lisa, "that's sweet."
"It's impossible not to love Keith," Rosemary said, smiling. "He's one of the nicest, sweetest guys I've ever met. Incredibly talented, and he knows it, but he's just a regular, down-to-earth guy. He's done all the restoration and repairs on the boat himself, he enjoys the work."
"Can't wait to meet him," Lisa said. "He sounds really interesting."
Jerry looked in the direction of Keith's boat and laughed. "You're about to, " he said. "You called it, Rosemary, here he comes now."

Sorry celticbear, no romance here!
Lisa looked down the dock and saw a tall, thin young man with long blond hair, carrying a skateboard and a handful of grocery bags. He was wearing a ball cap, sunglasses, a T-shirt, and cut-off jeans. She looked at Jerry. "You're kidding," she said. "I'd have sworn that guy was home-grown Californian. Is that really him?"
"Yup!" Rosemary laughed. "And from what I've seen of old pictures of him, he's looked like that since before he left Ireland. No doubt when you hear him talk, though!"
The man stopped at the side of the boat and said in a thick accent, " Mornin'! Permission to come aboard?"
"Of course, Keith!" Rosemary said, and stood up to give him a motherly hug as he climbed aboard, which he returned affectionately. "How are you? Your hair's gotten really long!"
"Doin' fine! Yeah, I'm having fun lettin' it grow out," he said, giving Jerry a hug as well. "Thanks for lookin' after ma lady for me, she's in great shape! And for lookin' after me as well."
"It's no problem, Keith, you know that," Rosemary said, smiling at him. "We've got a new neighbor for you to meet. This is Lisa, she and her girlfriend Sherry live on a boat a few slips further down from yours. They moved in about 6 weeks ago." Lisa shot Rosemary a glance, surprised that she was being so open about her and Sherry's relationship. She was never sure how people would react. Keith, however, just grinned at her and stuck out his hand.
"Oh, aye?" he said. "How are you likin' it, then?"
Lisa shook his hand and noticed the calluses on his fingertips. "Love it, "she said. "I can see you're a guitar player."
"Aye, I am," said Keith. "Do you play?"
"No, but Sherry does. She doesn't have as thick calluses as you do, though."
"Aye, well, she's probably not playin' 3, 4 hours a day, either," Keith laughed.
"No," Lisa agreed. "She does try to play at least a little every day, though."
"That's grand, " Keith said. Turning back to Rosemary, he said, "Will you and Jerry come over for dinner tonight? As a thank you for your help? Lisa, you and Sherry should come along as well, tell her to bring her guitar."
"That'd be fine, Keith," Rosemary said. "Will any of the other boys be in?"
"None of the current lot," Keith answered. "Ryan, Neil, and George are already off doin' solo gigs - well, Ryan and Neil are together of course, doin' their duo thing. Colm's already headed back to Ireland, and I'm not sure if Emmet was headin' straight back or goin' to take some time in New York to get in some Broadway shows. Damo's stoppin' by, though, haven't seen him in ages!" His grin widened and he tipped his head sideways, suddenly looking like a little kid asking for a treat. Rosemary laughed.
"Oh, go on, "she said. "You know I'll make deviled eggs for you, but you'll have to get me another dozen eggs if Damo's going to be here, too."
"I will," he said, laughing. "Lisa, anythin' I need to know about what you and Sherry will or won't eat? Or can't?"
"Oh, you don't have to cater to us," Lisa said quickly.
"Course I do", he said simply. "I invited ya, no sense feeding ya somethin' ya won't eat!"
"I guess not, " Lisa said. "We're vegetarian, though..."
"Not a problem," Keith said. "I eat vegetarian a lot anyway. Tried to do it full time last fall, but I lost way too much weight and my mam had a fit when I went home for Christmas. Mother Rose, I'd better get goin'. If you see Damo, tell him to wait for me, will ya?"
"Of course," Rosemary said. "Around 6, then?"
"That'll do," he said, hopping off the boat and heading up the ramp to the shore. At the top, he put down the skateboard, stepped on it, and took off as easily as if he were standing on solid ground.
"Dang," Lisa said. "That was an experience."
Rosemary and Jerry both laughed at her. "Yes, Keith's a character, for sure," Rosemary said. "You get what you see with Keith, he's as straightforward as they come. And I saw that look you gave me when I said Sherry was your girlfriend; you don't need to worry about how Keith will react to that, he doesn't judge. He MIGHT have tried to charm you, though, if he didn't know." She gave Lisa a wink.
"Oh!" Lisa, said, blushing. She was still getting used to the fact that she and Sherry were a couple, she really hadn't expected to fall in love with another woman, and she had to admit that Keith was very attractive. To take the attention away from herself, she said, "Damo's an odd name, isn't it?"
Rosemary knew exactly what she was doing, but went along. "It's a nickname, it's short for Damian," she said. "Damo was in the same group Keith's in for 4 years. but he left a couple of years ago to do some acting and start a solo career."
Jerry said, "Not sure how far he'll get with the acting unless he learns to tame down that accent of his. It's even thicker than Keith's. They're both from the same area of Northern Ireland, when they get going together I'm lucky if I get one word in 10!"
"Yeah, between the slang and the accents, and they talk so fast when they're together," Rosemary agreed.
"Do you seriously need more than a dozen deviled eggs?" Lisa, asked, remembering Keith's little begging trick.
"Between him and Damian, absolutely," Rosemary said, grinning. "Keith loves eggs in any form and he'd never had deviled ones before when I had some for a party here once. I've never managed since to get away without making them for him. And Damian's just as bad."
"And Keith's got you completely wrapped around his little finger," said Jerry, grinning at his wife. "You'd have made them even if he hadn't given you that puppy-dog look."
"Of course I would have," Rosemary said. "I am his surrogate mom, after all! What kind of mom would I be if I didn't make his favorite food when he came home after a trip?"
I don't know for sure if Keith will even eat deviled eggs or if he's even had them, but I know he does love his eggs!

That's Keith for you! Nothing shocks him! And according to Emmet's latest twitter he is in New York City taking in some Broadway shows before heading home to Mullingar. Going to interesting to see what Sherry makes of Keith and what she and Lisa make of Damo and Keith together!

celticbear, you're reading my mind! Not tonight, though, not feeling good and paperwork for work has to take priority :-( I'd rather be here. And I didn't know Dave Bakey was coming to LA with Keith, I might have to work him in...We'll see. I don't know as much about Dave so he'd be harder to write.

Lisa was still visiting with the Thoms when Keith got back from his shopping trip an hour later. They saw him approaching the top of the ramp on his skateboard, then stopping to adjust the bags he was carrying.
Lisa said, "He's not going to try to come down on the board, is he? He'll never make the turn!"
"Yes, he will," Jerry said. "He's got it down to a science. Took him one whole afternoon to figure it out, but every time he ended up in the water, he came up laughing and tried again. Honestly, I think he was enjoying messing up as much as he enjoyed getting it right!"
Keith had started down the ramp when Rosemary put a hand to her mouth and whispered "NO, Damian!" Another young man with curly dark hair had appeared at the top of the ramp and hollered "Yo, Keith!" Keith's head whipped around and then he realized he'd lost control, so he bailed out with the groceries. He landed on his feet, but the only reason he didn't fall off the edge of the dock was because Damian had sprinted down the ramp and grabbed him around the waist. The skateboard went sailing into the water about 10 feet off the dock and promptly sank.
"Damian, you eejit!" Keith roared, "How many times have I told ya not ta yell at me when I'm skatin'? Lucky yer not runnin' out to get more groceries and me a new phone! Or runnin' me to hospital!" He swatted Damian on the back of the head.
"Oww!" Damian howled. "M'sorry, Keith-o."
"Ya woulda been if I'd landed in the water. Gonna have ta go in anyway ta get the board." Keith took off his hat, sunglasses and shoes, and then took out his phone and wallet and handed them to Damian. He made a neat dive into the water.
"He's gonna dive for it?" Lisa said. "It's what, 15-20 feet deep there?"
"No problem for Keith, " Rosemary said. "He swims like a fish."
She was literally correct. Keith took a deep breath and dove, using both feet together like a whale's tail to push himself under the water. He was under for about 15 seconds before he came up, board in hand. He swam over to the dock and handed the board up to Damian, who had put down Keith's phone and wallet to grab it. Damian started to offer him a hand out, but then saw the thoroughly evil grin on Keith's face - it was easily visible even from the Thoms ' boat - and backed away quickly before Keith could pull him in. Keith hopped up on the dock, still grinning - and grabbed Damian in a full-on hug, getting him soaking wet anyway.
"Ahhh!" Damian yelled. "What'd ya do that for?"
"I'm soaked because of you, you might as well be, too," Keith said, laughing. He let go one arm from the hug but kept the other slung over Damian's shoulders. Damian still had one arm around Keith's waist.
"Yeah, but you've got dry clothes here!" Damian said. "You've borrowed my clothes before," Keith said, still grinning, and suddenly shook his head like a dog, spraying water everywhere and letting his wet hair slap Damian in the face. By this time Rosemary, Jerry, and Lisa were laughing hysterically.
"Yuck! Remind me why I come to visit ya again?" Damian spluttered, wiping his face with his free hand. "Cause ya love me, of course!" was Keith's reply. He let go of Damian and handed him half the groceries as they started down the dock. They stopped at the Thoms' boat. "Enjoyed the show this eejit put on, did ya?", Keith said, still laughing.
"Yes," Rosemary said, wiping tears of laughter from her face. Jerry was still howling and Lisa was looking at the two of them, dumbstruck.
"Here's the eggs," Keith said. "If this eejit managed to break any, he gets that many less for his share. We're gonna go get dried off, see ya later!" He threw an arm around Damian's neck again and practically dragged him down the dock towards his boat.
"Oh my God," said Lisa, staring after them. "They..."
"Yeah," Rosemary said. "Never a dull moment when there's more than one of the boys around at a time. They're all like that." She was still giggling.
"No," said Lisa, "that's not what I meant. No wonder Keith wasn't surprised about Sherry. He and Damian are a couple, aren't they?"
Jerry, who had finally stopped laughing, started howling again. "Keith, gay?", he spluttered. "Never in a million years. He's got half the girls in the county chasing after him, and he likes it that way. Far as I know, Damian's straight, too, and I think the other half of the girls are after him."
"But...," Lisa said, confused. "He said Damian loves him, and the way they were holding each other..."
"I don't know whether it's an Irish thing, or if it's just Keith and the other boys have picked it up from him, but all of the guys in the group are like that," Rosemary said. "They're very comfortable being physically affectionate and they're not inhibited about it like American men tend to be. It took Jerry a while to get used to it."
"Yeah," Jerry said, wiping his eyes. "It felt really odd at first, but I like it now, it's friendly."
"And Damian and Keith do love each other, but they're like brothers. All the guys are," Rosemary said. "I think even more so with Damian, since he's so much younger than the others."
"How old is he?" Lisa asked. She'd thought Damian, who was as tall as Keith but broader, and had a very deep voice, was probably about Keith's age.
"Just turned 21," Rosemary said.
"Really?" Lisa looked at her, shocked. "But you said he'd been with the group for 4 years and left a few years ago! How can that be, if he's only 21 now?"
"Easy," Jerry said. "Damian was 14 when the group was formed. Keith was the next oldest, he was 20. The three other guys from the original group were in their late 20's and late 30's. So Damian was everybody's little brother, the guys pretty much raised him from the time he was 14 until he was 18. The two newest guys are actually closest to him in age, Emmet's 23 and Colm's 24." He laughed as Lisa was still staring at him, stunned.
"14? How in the world do you end up touring the US when you are a 14-year-old Irish boy? And with a group of such an age range?"
"You get picked out of open auditions where they were trying to find Irish and Scottish men at different stages in their lives, " Rosemary said. "They were looking for a 'boy wonder' and they surely found one in Damian. That boy, at 14 before his voice even broke, had an incredibly powerful voice and stage presence you wouldn't believe."
"Yeah, and then his voice broke and dropped about 3 octaves, and he grew a foot and a half in the first two years they were together," Jerry said. "Must have driven both the wardrobe mistress and the musical director nuts. By the time he was 16, his voice and his height were pretty much what you just saw."
"You've been carefully avoiding telling me what this group is called," Lisa said.
"And I intend to keep doing that for a little while," Rosemary said. "If you or Sherry have heard of them, you'd feel weird about hanging out with them, and they are just regular guys who happen to be able to sing and make their living at it. I want you to get to know them first. They have enough problems dealing with fans as it is, sometimes. We're all very careful to play dumb if anyone we don't know and haven't been given a heads-up about comes around asking about Keith. Since we're so close to the ramp, we field a lot of it. And I'm not going to tell you anymore right now. I'm sure you'll hear more tonight over at Keith's."

LOL! Love Lisa's first reaction to What Keith and Damian's relationship is! Glad Rose set her straight! And I can so see Keith diving in for his skateboard for real and I just wish Keith had pulled Damo into the water! But what Keith did to Damo was way funnier!

Later that afternoon, Lisa was working on some drawings when Sherry got home. She was close enough to Keith's boat that she'd heard some yells and laughing, but couldn't tell what "the boys" (she'd decided Rosemary's name for them suited them) were up to.
"Hi, hon," she said as Sherry came aboard. "Have a good day?"
"Yeah," Sherry said. "Wasn't too busy, thankfully." Sherry was a nurse at one of the urgent care centers nearby. "What do you want to do for dinner?"
"We have an invitation, actually," Lisa said.
"Really," Sherry said, pleased. "Who with?"
"The guy who owns the gorgeous teak yacht."
Sherry looked at her, surprised. "Seriously?" she said. "How'd that happen? He wasn't trying to pick you up, was he?" She grinned.
"No!" Sherry grinned back. "I was over visiting Rosemary and Jerry, they take care of the boat, you know. Apparently he's a musician and just back from a tour, which is why we haven't met him before. He came over to thank them and invited them to dinner, and us as well. He wants you to bring your guitar along."
"Sounds like you had quite the conversation," Sherry said. "There were two guys on the boat when I came past, a blond and one with dark hair. Which one owns the boat? Or do they own it together? They seemed pretty close," she trailed off suggestively.
"The blond, Keith," Lisa said. "The other guy is Damian. When I first saw them together they had their arms around each other, and I thought they were a couple as well, but Rosemary and Jerry say they're both straight, but they're like brothers. They were both in the same group for a while. She said Damian was only 14 when they formed the group; the rest of the guys were older and pretty much raised Damian for the next 4 years."
Sherry raised her eyebrows. "Interesting," she said. "What's the name of the group?"
"Rosemary wouldn't tell me. They must be pretty well-known, she said she was afraid if we knew we might feel strange about hanging out with them, and she wants us to get to know them first. She also said that they've had some problems with fans before and that the people here in the marina don't tell people anything about Keith unless it's somebody they already know he knows."
"So what were they like?" Sherry asked.
"Just ordinary guys," Lisa shrugged. "Goofing around, getting into trouble. Rosemary refers to them as 'the boys' and it fits from what I saw. I didn't really talk to Damian, but Keith was really nice. He didn't even bat an eyelash when Rosemary told him I lived here with my girlfriend. Just asked if there was anything he needed to know about what we would or wouldn't eat, and when I told him you played guitar, he said you should bring yours. He plays, too, he said he plays 3 or 4 hours a day when I said that his calluses were thicker than yours."
"Any idea what kind of music?" Sherry asked. "And what did Damian do in a music group at 14?"
"Rosemary said he had a really strong, powerful voice even before his voice broke, so he must be a singer. He's somewhere in the bass/baritone range now, that's for sure. She didn't say what kind of music, but they're both Irish, so maybe traditional?"
"That'd be cool," Sherry said. "How many people are in the group?"
"There were five originally, but some have left and they've brought some new ones in - and Damian's still the youngest by a couple of years, he's only 21. Rosemary asked about them, and Keith said most of the guys are off doing solo gigs before they head home for Christmas. One had already gone back to Ireland and he said one was probably in New York seeing some Broadway shows."
"Wow."
"Yeah," Lisa laughed, "I'm pretty curious myself. I made some lemon-limeade to take over with us. Why don't you get changed and we can relax for a few minutes before we head over? We're supposed to be there around 6."

A few minutes before 6, Sherry and Lisa collected Sherry's guitar case and the pitchers of drinks and headed over to Keith's boat. They could hear male laughter as they approached, and when they came in sight of the boat, found Keith and Damian playing what looked like a game of tag all over the boat, climbing and jumping from the various levels and trying to wrestle when they got close enough to grab each other. It looked like Keith was getting the better end of the deal, as he seemed to be a bit more agile than Damian and was more daring about climbing and jumping. A third dark-haired man was sitting with a guitar on his lap, watching them and grinning slightly, laughing once or twice when Keith slipped out of Damian's grasp. Lisa started laughing, and Sherry turned to her and said, "Seriously? How old are they again?" with one eyebrow raised.
'Rosemary said Damian's 21 and Keith's 27."
"Well, right now I'd say they're both about 12!"
"Most of the time, I think, they were like this earlier, too. That's why Rosemary called them 'the boys'. She says all the guys in the group are like this."
As they walked up to the boat, the third man caught Keith's eye and jerked his head towards the women. Keith stopped, looked at them and grinned, and then, without really looking at him, grabbed Damian and tossed him down as he tried to sneak up on Keith. "Game's over, lad, we've got guests," he said. "I win - as usual!" At this the third man dissolved into quiet laughter. "Shut it, Bakey!"grumbled Damian, looking disgruntled.
"Hi, ladies, come aboard," said Keith. He took the drink pitchers and handed them to Damian. "Put these inside, would ya, Damo? Hi, Lisa, I take it this is Sherry? I'm Keith." He held out his hand and Sherry shook it. "The lad with the drinks is Damian, and this other guy is Dave."
"Nice to meet you," Dave said. Although he seemed to have a bit of the same rhythm to his speech that Keith and Damian did, he didn't really sound Irish. Overall he was a lot quieter and more subdued that Keith and Damian were.
"Why don't you stash your guitar inside for now? Would you like to see the boat?" Keith offered.
"Love to," Lisa said, She's really a beauty. Rosemary said you've done all the restoration and repairs yourself?"
"Most of 'em, yeah," Keith said. "Got help with a few things but I pretty much grew up on a fishing boat, so I can turn my hand to most things needin' done to 'em. Just finished scraping and painting her before I went on tour. Near had to scrub my skin off to get rid of the paint for the first show." He grinned.
The boat was, all things considered, clean and relatively neat, although there were random items scattered everywhere. Dave, who had come in behind them, laughed quietly and said, "Be glad he hasn't been home too long, or you wouldn't be able to find the floor. I never can when we share a hotel room on tour." This time it was Keith who muttered, good-naturedly, "Shut it, Bakey!" Most of the decorations were nautical or otherwise related to the ocean, and the bathroom was decorated with a pirate theme, which made the girls laugh. Postcards and art posters were hanging everywhere, and there were some clearly original artworks scattered around. Lisa picked up an elaborate pen and ink drawing on canvas of a stylized fish and said, "Wow, this is great, where did you get it?"
"Drew it while we were on tour," Keith said. Lisa looked at him, surprised. "Really?" she said. "Rosemary didn't tell me you were an artist as well! This is fantastic!"
"Good way to get my brain away from music for a while," Keith said. "When I can't surf, I draw."
"Man of all talents?" Sherry said. "Guitar, drawing, restoration and repair, surfing..."
"Cooking, skate-boarding, fishing, singing, yeah, he's disgusting," Dave said.
"About the only thing he's no good at is footy," said Damian. The girls looked confused. "Football - sorry, soccer," he said.
"Can't be bothered with it," Keith said, grinning. "I'm probably the only Irishman in the world who couldn't care less about sports. Unless it's surfing."
"How long have you been surfing?" Sherry asked. "I grew up doing it, pretty much everybody in California tries it at least once."
"Since I was about 15," Keith said. "Not so common in Donegal, but there's great waves on the west coast of Ireland. Buddy of mine in Ireland makes surfboards, I was a sponsored surfer for him for a while, going all over the world showing off his boards."
"Competition?" said Sherry.
"Nah, I just do it for fun," Keith said. By now they'd all ended up back on the deck. "About the only place I can get my brain to shut up and focus on one thing. Hey, Mother Rose! Hi, Jerry!" The older couple were just coming on board.
"Hi, Dave," Rosemary said. "Keith didn't tell us you were here!"
Keith looked slightly embarrassed. "After the last year, he's sort of like my shadow, I mostly notice when he's NOT around."
Dave noticed the girls' confused looks and said, "I'm the guitar player for the group, but I also back up Keith when he's doing solo gigs or recording. Over the last 16 months, we've spent probably 12 of them in the same place. For three of them straight, last spring, it was a van, a hotel room, or the boat here, and that was right after 6 weeks touring in Australia."
"Which is why we look after the boat," Jerry said. He started to hand the plate of deviled eggs to Damian, but Keith grabbed it. "Hey!" Damian said.
"Not 'til I found out how many you have to forfeit for making me go swimming earlier," Keith said.
"Like you really minded having to get into the water, anyway," Damian shot back. "You're half fish as it is, I think!"
"You'll have to split them evenly, anyway," Rosemary said, "Somehow none of them got cracked. And you need to leave at least a few for the rest of us."
At this both Keith and Damian turned toward her with identical little-boy pouts on their faces. Dave pouted right back at them and they all dissolved into laughter. And the next time anyone looked at the plate, a quarter of the eggs were gone, and Keith, Damian, and Dave all had eggs in their hands and in their mouths.
Had to add Dave since I found out he was with Keith for a couple of days.

I got to talk to Dave for a few minutes at George's solo gig in Philadelphia (he wasn't playing, just there to support George). That helped. He's very nice :-)
