Colm had been back in Ireland for a few weeks and he hadn't heard anything from Meredith. He knew he was an idiot for thinking she would want anything to do with him after everything. Still a part of him had been hopeful, for the first week, then the second began and he had begun to have doubts. Now it was going on three and he hadn't heard from her at all.
"What's with you?", Emmet, his band mate looked at him as he sighed.
"Nothing", he replied looking at his phone.
"You know Sharon's going to throw that phone in the nearest lake if you don't stop looking at it."
"Just thought I would hear from someone and I haven't."
"Who would that be?"
"A girl he spilled coffee on, then kissed in front of an ex-husband," Ryan said plopping down on the couch. The group was finishing up recordings for their new album release.
"You did what?", Emmet looked at Colm.
"Thanks, Ryan", he said standing up,"I'm going for a walk."
"Oh, just when the story was getting good", Ryan laughed.

Meredith packed up her bag for the day, checking for her keys and phone as she did.
"Hey, Mer", came a voice from behind her.
"Hey", she turned,"Alicia, what's up?"
"Few of us were going to go to Al's for happy hour. You interested?"
She hadn't been out or made too many friends since starting her job, and it sounded like a good time,"Sure, but I don't exactly know where it is."
"You can follow me there, let's go!" the women made their way out of the building to their cars. Meredith closely followed Alicia's Prius as she drove through the city. They pulled up outside of a series of small shops and restaurants.
"This where you all usually come?", she asked straightening the pencil skirt she wore.
"Yep, service is good and plus this is where the firemen and cops hang out so plenty of eye candy."
"Firemen hang out here?", she questioned.
"Oh yeah and apparently there is a new lieutenant from the rescue squad, few of the girls told me about him."
"Wow, sounds like a looker", she followed her inside. She said a a quick, silent prayer that Kelly would not be inside the bar. She didn't want to see him after their last run in. That thought quickly turned to a flash of blue eyes and an Irish accent. She pushed the thought away as they came to the table of several other women from the office. Meredith was introduced in a blur and given a fruity cocktail, she sipped as her eyes scanned the room. She attempted to pay attention to the chatter of the women and listened to their oh's and ah's over men that came through the door. She excused herself to the restroom and locked the door with a heavy sigh. So this was social life? Ogling over men and drinking sweet cocktails, laughing as if you didn't have a care in the world. But she did have cares and she did have baggage, but she was trying. That was the point right? To try? She splashed cold water on her face and made sure she was presentable. She squared her shoulders and made her way back to join her new found friends. She stopped as she saw him flirting with one of the girls from the table. His arm was loosely about her, their faces close. He was telling a story and she was giggling. Meredith felt as if she had been submerged in ice water, she was unable to speak as she approached the table, she wanted to get her purse and leave without being noticed by Kelly and the woman who stood near the bar.
