And here I thought I'd left this fic in the dust! You lucky lot, you. You get another update! The way i see it, I'll continue this fic for a while, but it'll be very slow. This way, I can keep it on my list of priorities, but I won't be so stressed out about writing more. I also thought it might make up for The Prince and The Thief. Haha.
--------------------
Paul's travels, for a long time, had been dull and just as colourless as his home had been.
He'd met a boy on his fifth day of travelling, who had expressed great interest in Paul's treks and his purpose for making them.
The boy's name was Damian. He was a younger lad- probably not anything past Fifth Class in school.
From what Paul could see, Damian's hair was a dark grey- nearly black. But in his head, Paul imagined it to be something of a deep brown, instead. Damian's eyes, on the other hand, were nearly white, which Paul took to mean that they were actually a pale blue.
"Have you ever seen them? Colours, I mean. Real ones, like red, and yellow," Damian had asked.
"Not outside of my own head, no," Paul answered. "I've an idea of what they're like, though."
"Oh," Damian said. "What's blue like?"
Paul thought for a moment.
"It's a bit like ice, I'd think," He pondered aloud. "Cold, but beautiful in its own right."
"And red?" Damian rested his elbows on his knees, and placed his palm under his chin.
"Red's the opposite," Paul explained. "It's hot. Like fire, when you put your hands too close to it."
"Hmm," Damian hummed. "Orange?"
"Orange is like red, but not quite as hot," Paul said. "It's a nice kind of warm. Like when you come inside after playing in the snow."
Damian smiled. "What about pink? My sister told me about pink."
"I don't know. I haven't really thought about pink much," Paul admitted. "Though, I suppose it's something like candy floss."
"So, pink is sweet?" Damian asked.
Paul nodded.
"Exactly, yeah."
"Why can't we see them? The colours," Damian said. "They sound brill."
Paul sighed.
"Sometimes, I think that they just aren't around, and that we can find them. Somewhere," He replied. "But other times, I think that it might be us. And that colours are everywhere, and we just can't see them; That it's hopeless, and I shouldn't try to go looking."
"I don't think it's us," Damian said, suddenly sounding quite eager. "I think they're somewhere. Can I come with you? I want to see colours, too!"
"But you're young," Paul frowned. "Your parents will wonder where you are."
"Let them wonder! Please, I want to find the colours with you!" Damian begged.
Paul pondered the request. He didn't think that bringing along a young boy was wise in a situation like his. What was Paul meant to do should they run into any danger? He certainly couldn't return to Damian's family with news that they're son was injured or, worse, dead.
But the boy seemed so willing, wanting desperately to see something other than black and white- something that differed from the vapid little world that they called home.
"All right," Paul said finally.
"All right?" Damian repeated.
"Aye," Paul confirmed. "Pack your things. We'll head off tomorrow."
Damian grinned before running back to his house to collect his belongings.
--------------------
I feel like candy floss will end up being a motif, here. Haven't a clue why. XD
Oh and, by the way, if any of you can explain Ireland's educational stage system to me, it would be much appreciated. It may be my Welsh stupidity, but I don't understand it in the slightest.

Within mere days, Paul and Damian had grown incredibly close. It may have simply been because Paul had never had someone who understood his motives and looked up to him in such a way, but Damian felt like a brother to him.
On the second day of Damian's travels with Paul, it had rained.
"This is what dark blue feels like," Paul said as he and Damian took shelter beneath a tarpaulin that Paul had hung between two trees. "Cold and wet. It can still be nice, provided you have the right comforts which, obviously, we don't."
Damian just nodded, and stared out into the rain.
The next day, they'd stopped in another town in search of "provisions" (Damian didn't know why Paul didn't just call it "food").
Paul had been pretty let down when he realized that they hadn't any more money to buy anything.
"I suppose we beg, then," Damian said.
"No," Paul frowned. "I don't beg anyone for anything."
Paul, as it turned out, was a stubborn soul.
But of course, someone had noticed the two rather scrappy-looking boys and, assuming they were homeless (which they technically were), had invited them into their home.
Paul, after having been given a very sad look from Damian, had accepted.
Zara, the one who had taken them in, was a very pretty woman, probably in her early thirties or so, with two adopted sons- one close to Paul's age, and the other around Damian's.
"Are you boys lost? Travelling?" Zara had asked.
"Travelling," Paul nodded.
"Where to?" asked Neil, the older son.
"Dunno," Paul replied. "Anywhere with colour."
"Colour?" Keith, the younger son, repeated. "That's fairytales, it is."
"Maybe not," Paul said. "And that's what we're aiming to find out."
"Travelling sounds fun," Keith stated. "I want to go travelling. Can I go with you?"
"You're not going anywhere, dear," Zara answered before Paul even had a chance to open his mouth.
"Aw, why?" Keith groaned. "Their 'rents let them go travelling."
"Because," Zara said. "You've school to attend."
"Rubbish. They've probably got school to be attendin', too," Keith mumbled.

I've just realised how short these updates are... They look so much longer on paper.

Hi, everyone! I have some bad news that I regret having to break to you all. So, I was looking through my documents today, and I noticed something strange; There was a file that amounted to 0 bytes of space. Curious, I read the title of said document. Unfortunately, the title read "Absent Colours". I opened the file and, low and behold, it was a single blank page. This means that the five unposted chapters that I had written are GONE. Poof, nothing. Just gone. On top of that, I've got finals to study for. So, I don't know when I'll have it rewritten. Or, considering how much I lost (26 flippin' pages, folks!), if I'll ever have it rewritten. *sigh* Technology is just terrible sometimes. I regret not writing all of that in my notebook like I usually do.
On a lighter note, I'm planning on writing more of Damian and The Doctor. So there's that to look forward to. In addition, I also want to continue Train to Eden, so when inspiration hits me, I'll get right on it. : )
Well, that's all I have to tell you for now. I hope you've all had a lovely day!
Cheers!

I know. ;_; Though, I remember some of it. I could probably start re-writing what I remember and then, when I get to the point where I can't recall anymore, I'll just start writing it in another direction. Fresh plotline, I suppose.

Thank you, love!
I'm currently working on a sort of skeleton, right now. Before I start rewriting it all. And this time round, I'm writing it in my notebook like I should have done in the first place. *sigh*
