. . . that also sounds like it might be awkward. I really like this story, but, not trying to seem jerkish, I'm not sure that's nox appropriate, or if I'd really want to read that...
I like the story and all, but....

“Sophie, I’d like you to meet Ryan…”
“Sophia McAllister! I can’t believe it’s you!” Ryan stood from the table and slowly walked toward the young woman he hadn’t seen in four years. He couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across his lips as he took in her appearance. There had been a few changes over the years. Her once long blonde hair had been shortened into a chin length bob that framed her face, and a pair of black rimmed glasses was placed on her nose, shading her amber colored eyes. Despite the few changes that had been made, this was still the very same Sophia that he had grown up with, there was no doubt about that.
“Ryan, what…” Before Sophia could finish her sentence, she was pulled into a tight embrace, wrapped in Ryan’s arms. “What are you doing here?”
Ryan reluctantly pulled away from the hug. “What, Are you not happy to see me? It’s only been four years, ya know…”
“Of course I am, I just…”
“Ahem, remember us? Your friends? Geez, I had no idea you already knew each other, Soph. And why exactly haven’t heard of him before?” Hannah questioned, raising a brow.
Sophia blushed, glancing at Ryan before turning her attention back to Hannah and David. “Well, I don’t know, he never…he never came up.” She sent a warning glare at her friend before sliding into the booth. Ryan slid in next to her and loosely wrapped an arm around her waist. The group of friends struck up a conversation after ordering their drinks. The topics varied from work to football, well; at least Ryan and David talked about football. The girls just rolled their eyes and pretended to be interested.
“So, Ryan, how long have you known our Sophia?” David questioned, grinning at Hannah mischievously.
Ryan looked down at the young woman beside him, grinning a bit.
“Twenty years. We were neighbors growing up in the Moy. Inseparable, we were…” Ryan’s voice grew quiet as he finished his sentence and a hint of sorrow filled his eyes.
Sophia bit her lip, nodding in agreement. “Aye, we were best friends. These four years have been far too long.”
“Four years?! You haven’t seen each other in four years? What happened?” Hannah asked.
“Life…” Ryan chuckled. “I got busy, I suppose Sophia did as well. She hasn’t been home to the Moy in quite some time.”
Sophia felt a pang of guilt at Ryan’s almost bitter words. It was true, she hadn’t stepped foot in the County Tyrone since she left four years ago for shortly after her move, her parents had moved to Wexford. She really didn’t have a reason to visit the Moy, other than Ryan.
“Well, I guess it’s a good thing Ryan closed that deal on his apartment today. Maybe you two could stand to get rep-acquainted, ya know?” David raised his eyebrows, laughing as he received a smack in the arm from his fiancée. “What?”
“You know what, David Quinn!” Hannah warned.
Ryan chuckled, tightening his arm and pulling Sophia closer. “Yes, I think it’s a good thing as well.”
Sophia only nodded, turning her focus to her drink. Thankfully, the conversation was quickly moved from Ryan and Sophia’s past to the new subject of alcohol. Hannah and David seemed to be rather interested in speaking of the Guinness they were drinking, both of them on their third. Sophia was only on her first drink, and Ryan was just beginning his second. By the time they had finished their fourth drinks, Hannah and David had migrated to the middle of the pub where a group of people were dancing, leaving Sophia and Ryan alone in an awkward silence.
“Well, it certainly looks like they’ve forgotten about us.” Ryan spoke up.
Sophia nodded. “It appears so, yeah..”
Ryan took a final swig of his bottle, finishing up the last of the beer in the process. ‘Would you like to go somewhere else, maybe? Perhaps for a walk?”
“Sure, it would be good to catch up.”
Ryan grinned, standing up and throwing down enough money to cover both his and Sophia’s drinks. He held out his hand, smiling even wider when Sophia laced her fingers with his. “Shall we?”
“We shall, Mr. Kelly.”
The two made their way to the front of the pub, squeezing through the labyrinth of people, most of which were too drunk to stand. Finally, they reached the door and stepped outside into the cool September air. Neither of them couldn’t be happier at that moment to be breathing the fresh, smoke free air. ............................... Okay, revised chapter...Again, I'm really sorry for any offense the original caused.

hockey--I don't want to be rude, but it was deleted because she did not want more people reading it than those that already had, so...by telling you, wouldn't that kind of defeat the purpose of deleting it?

“Thank God, I’m so glad to be out of there!” Sophia exclaimed as she and Ryan began their walk down the busy Dublin sidewalk.
“It was getting a bit stuffy in there…” Ryan replied. “I take it you didn’t want to be there tonight?”
The young woman shook her head. “No, not at all…I’m not exactly into going to pubs, in fact, I almost didn’t come tonight. I had a date.”
Ryan raised his brows. “Oh? A date?”
“Mhmm…” Sophia giggled. “A date with a good book and then a late night rendezvous with my pillow. Sounds exciting, huh?” The young man chuckled, rubbing his thumb over the palm of Sophia’s hand which was still held protectively in his own. “Sounds quite nice, if you ask me. I’ve been spending a bit of time with David and his friends…they sure like to party.”
“They do…Hannah does as well. And even I enjoy a night out every once in a while, but after the week I just had, I needed a night in. My new client is bridezilla times a million.”
“Bridezilla? So you did become a dress designer?”
Sophia nodded, smiling wide. “I did. I co own a small dress shop downtown with Hannah. And what is it that you do, Ryan?”
“Well, I’m an accountant. Not exactly the most glamorous job in the world, but it pays the bills.” Ryan replied, scratching the back of his neck nervously.
“Hey, hey, nothing wrong with that at all. But please, tell me you still sing.”
“Not any more, not in a long time.” Ryan took a seat on an empty bench, patting the space beside him. “I lost my love for music, it seems.”
Sophia frowned. “I don’t believe that for a second, Ryan. You love music, you always have. I just don’t see you losing your passion for something that was so dear to your heart.”
“Unfortunately it happened.” Ryan murmured, glancing down at their joined hands. His eyes widened as he caught the sight of the silver claddagh he had given her four years ago, places delicately on her ring finger , the same finger that Ryan had slipped the ring on in a frantic attempt to get his dear Sophia to stay. “You still have it..” Sophia nodded, knowing exactly what Ryan was speaking of. “Of course I do…I wouldn’t dream of getting rid of it. I haven’t removed it since…since the day you gave it to me..”
Ryan lifted her hand to his lips, placing a soft kiss along her knuckles as he kept his eyes on hers. “You still have it..” He repeated, smiling wide. “You didn’t forget me.”
“Forget you? Oh Ryan, how on earth could I forget you?” Sophia asked, wrapping her arms around him in a hug. “Of course I didn’t forget you, Ryan, your ring on my finger proves it.”
Ryan pulled her closer to him, smiling as he placed a soft kiss on the top of her head. “Good.”
After a few moments in of silence, the two decided it was getting rather late and that they should get back, but not without Ryan insisting that he walk Sophia home to her apartment. To Ryan's relief, she agreed and the two headed toward her apartment complex nearly three blocks away. Much of the walk was spent in silence, but it wasn't the least bit awkward. It was comfortable, and it reminded Ryan of the many walks they took together as teenagers in the Moy. Finally, they reached Sophia's door.
"So, I guess this is goodnight?" Ryan questioned as they stood in front of the door, his hand still holding Sophia's.
"Mhmm, I guess so. See you tomorrow?"
Ryan nodded, hugging the young woman once more. "Goodnight.." He whispered, pulling away from the hug and kissing her forehead gently. "See you tomorrow?"
Sophia nodded. "Tomorrow, yes. Would you like to have coffee with me at ten?”
“Sounds great. I can pick you up here, or we can meet at the coffee shop?”
“Meeting here would be fine.” Sophia smiled, kissing Ryan on the cheek softly. “Good night, Ryan.”
“Good night, Darling…” Ryan replied. He waited for Sophia to step into her apartment and close her door before he walked away with a smile playing at his lips.
