Well here is an update...hope you like ;D
Mindy handed Meagan back her phone.
“What did he say?” Meagan asked.
“He’s very angry and hurt. He saw Neil and I in the park.” Mindy wiped the tears from her eyes. “It seems the more I try to hide my secret, the more I hurt him.”
“I told you to just tell him the truth.” Meagan said. “I am pretty sure that he will believe you. Of course you may have to prove it to him. This time make sure everything is out of the way….and make sure I’m not even in the room! I wouldn’t want to be sent to the moon or anything.”
Mindy laughed.
“Oh…Meagan. After what happened to Captain…I think I’m done with magic. Except for one more thing.” Mindy scanned the Book of Spells in her hand.
“Uh...oh. What is up?” Kristine asked.
“Well…I’m thinking of looking for a spell…a spell that will…transport me.” Mindy scanned the book.
“Transport you where?” Kristine asked.
“Well…anywhere I want to go. I just wish I was a better witch.” Mindy slammed the book shut, frustrated at her helplessness.
“By the way….you never said anything about you and Neil being in the park. What’s up with that?” Meagan asked.
“Oh…Neil just got the book for me, then he asked me to walk in the park. Then he….um….well he kissed me….ok?” Mindy looked down, embarrassed.
“WHAT!!!! Neil kissed you and you neglected to tell us?” Kristine shouted.
“Well…I didn’t ask him to. He just did. I told him that Paul and I had feelings for each other and that was that.” Mindy replied.
“Well if Paul saw Neil kissing you, I can understand he might be angry. So…are you going to talk to Paul? Tell him the whole story? So you guys can kiss and make up?” Meagan asked.
“Yes, you are right Meagan. I will tell him, if and when I get the chance. That is the reason I need a transport spell….so I can go to him. I just don’t want to end up on the moon either.” Mindy looked down at the book. Surely there was something in there that would help her. She just had to find it.
The girls got back to the hotel at dinner time. They found Perri in the hotel room trying to teach Captain how to eat at the table. Captain kept trying to eat by lapping the food up with her tongue. Perri, using all the patience she had, put a fork in her hand, scooped up the food and moved it to Captain’s mouth. Captain would either chew on the fork or try to lick off the food. When Captain saw Mindy she jumped up and crawled over to her and began to rub her head against Mindy’s legs, purring loudly.
“Hey Captain. How you doin?” Mindy kneeled down and hugged the cat/girl to her. “I’m sorry Captain.” She whispered as ran her hand over Captain’s head.
Captain snuggled her head up in Mindy’s neck.
“Well….we certainly had an interesting day.” Perri said. “I’ve been trying to teach her human things just in case she has to stay like this. Sometimes she does it and sometimes she doesn’t. Isn’t that just like a cat?”
“She’s always had a mind of her own.” Mindy stood up. “Hey Captain. Want a nummy?” Mindy pulled Captain up and sat her at the table. She put a piece of tuna on a spoon and put it in Captain’s mouth. Soon Captain caught on to the spoon and opened her mouth for Mindy.
“Hey…she’s kinda like a baby just learning to eat.” Meagan commented. “Maybe that’s the trick. Just teach her slowly like you would a baby.”
“Well…we can’t just call her Captain all the time. What if someone meets her? How about we give her a human name until Mindy can turn her back.”
“Bethany” Mindy replied. “I’ve always liked that name.”
“Bethany it is. Hey Beth…do you like that name?” Kristine stroked Captain’s hair.
“Num” Captain said.
“Hey! She said her first word! That’s good Captain.” Meagan hugged Captain to her and Mindy gave her another piece of tuna on a spoon.
“How did it go with the lads today? I see you got your book.” Perri said. “Any problems?”
“Yes…unfortunately one big problem. Paul saw Mindy….um…with Neil in the park. So he’s pretty hot right now. But Mindy has finally decided to tell him the truth.” Meagan explained.
“I think that’s the best idea I’ve heard so far. Now, while you girls were gone I remembered a conversation I had with Tam, one of the Thunderheads I know. She mentioned once in passing, that she was a witch. I didn’t think much about it then, but I decided to call her up and ask her opinion on this problem. She, of course wants to meet Mindy. Since we have Captain here, we can’t go to her. So she has agreed to come here and see if she can help.” Perri explained.
“Hey! I know Tam! I didn’t know she was a witch!” Meagan said.
“Yes…well I’m sure she doesn’t want everyone to know. Not everyone is open-minded about witches. I think people think witches worship the devil or something.” Perri said.
“That is not true! We believe in God and are good of heart!” Mindy said. “We use the powers of the earth, the air and the waters…powers that God chose to give us and we thank him often.”
“Of course you do, sweetie! Now Tam will be here tomorrow so I think we should call for room service and get a good night’s sleep tonight. It’s going to be a long day tomorrow. Oh by the way Mindy, these came for you today.” Perri pointed to a large bouquet of pink roses that sat on the table. Next to it was a box.

This is just a short update....but since Miss Mindy can't wait to find out what her present is..... ;D. I decided to update a small one. Spoiled brat.
Mindy walked over to the flowers. They were a large beautiful bouquet of pink roses.
“So…what’s the card say?” Kristine asked. Mindy picked out the card and opened it up.
“It says. “It was a lovely night for playing in the waves. Sorry about the dress. Thank you for the special gift. All my love, Paul.” Mindy smiled. She just fell in love with him again.
“Awww…that’s so sweet.” Meagan said. “Now what’s in the box?”
Mindy was a little afraid to open it because she was already near tears. She slowly opened the box. Taking off the lid…she looked inside. There she saw a phone…very similar to Meagan’s and another smaller box.
“He got you a phone?” Kristine said.
“Turn it on for me, Meagan.” Meagan showed Mindy how to turn on the phone. Immediately the phone made a loud noise.
“Looks like you have text messages already.” Kristine said. She showed Mindy how to push the buttons and read the text messages. Of course they were from Paul.
“I got you this phone so we could talk while I’m on the road. Call me.”
The next text said.
“P.S. I miss you.”
“Well there’s one more box to open.” Meagan pointed to the small box that was left.
Mindy opened it up. Inside was a necklace with a gold chain. On it was a little gold fairy with gossamer wings. It was beautiful and Mindy touched it with her finger and began to cry. “Hey….it’s ok.” Perri hugged Mindy. “It’s gonna be ok. Let’s all get something to eat and go to bed.”
“Do you want to send him a text message?” Meagan asked.
Mindy nodded. Meagan showed her how to press the buttons and type out the message. Mindy sat on the bed and typed on her message.
“Thank you for the gifts. Last night was special to me also. I miss you too.”
She sent the text.
The phone was silent.
Captain, sensing that something was wrong with Mindy curled up next to her…purring.
Finally room service came and everyone ate. Mindy was so tired she could barely keep her eyes open. Finally she pulled on some sweats and a t-shirt and crawled into bed. Captain crawled in next to her and both fell into a deep sleep.

OK...so MINDY wants at least some of my update...although I am really not done. Here is the short next part....for my spoiled brat daughter. ***blows kisses*** Hope you guys enjoy. Tam...your part is next!!!!
Mindy awoke to a strange ringing sound. Half asleep, she picked up the cell phone that Paul had gotten her and pushed the green button like Meagan had showed her.
“Hello? Paul?” She answered anxiously.
“Good morning, Love. I see you got my gifts. I’m sorry I didn’t call last night, it was late when I got in and didn’t want to wake you.”
“I thought you might still be angry with me.” Mindy said softly. “I miss you.”
“I’m not angry anymore…just disappointed…a little sad still. So when am I going to see you again?” Paul asked.
“Soon….I am making a plan. When I see you, I am going to tell you everything. I hope you will still want me.” Mindy whispered.
“I can’t imagine anything that you have to say will change how I feel about you, Mindy. From the first moment I saw you, I felt this connection with you. You were meant for me. I know it in my heart and soul.” Paul told her.
“Yes, you are right. I feel that way too. Have I told you that I dreamed of your face before we met?” Mindy said. “I would wake from dreaming and carry the picture of your face in my head all day. It made me happy.”
“Whoa…poor girl. Wouldn’t wish that nightmare on anyone.” Paul laughed.
“No nightmare…a very pleasant dream. I wondered who you were: if you were a figment of my imagination or a real person.” Mindy smiled.
“Now you know that I’m very real…and really crazy over you. Now, do you want to know what happened between Neil and me?” Paul asked.
“Oh no…I hope Neil is ok. Was there any bruising? You didn’t hit him did you?” Mindy asked anxiously.
“Now old Neil is all in one piece, believe me, I would have loved to tear him apart. But the show, you know; can’t mess up his pretty face. I would have loved to make him feel a little pain in parts that can’t be seen. However I was a very good boy and gave him a good warning. It seems you have another man under your spell.” Paul told her.
“Under my spell?” Mindy asked cautiously. “What do you mean?”
“Well afterwards he came up to me and warned me to make sure I take good care of you or he would do unspeakable things to my body. I think he is in love with you, Mindy.” Paul told her. “But I can see why.”
“Neil is a lovely man, but only you are in my heart. I am glad you didn’t hurt him.” Mindy said.
“Well next time you see me I expect a gift of gratitude for not beating up your other boyfriend.” Paul teased.
“He’s not my boyfriend…just a friend. But I wouldn’t want him to be hurt.” Mindy laughed, “And what kind of gratitude would you be thinking?”
“Oh…I’ll think of something. So let me tell you about what happened last night.” Paul told her all about the concert and some of the crazy stuff that happened, making Mindy laugh. All too soon, it was time to say goodbye. Both were reluctant to hang up.
“I will call you tonight, okay?” Paul told her.
“Yes…I will look forward to that.”
“What do you have planned today?” He asked her.
“I am meeting someone today…one of your Thunderheads. Her name is Tam. We are planning some things to do.” Mindy was hesitant.
“Well…have fun. You can tell me all about it tonight.” Paul said.
“Yes…I will. I will talk to you tonight then.” Mindy answered.
“Yes…tonight. Have a good day. I love you, Mindy.” Paul whispered.
“I love you too. Goodbye Paul.” Mindy answered.
Mindy pushed the red button like Meagan had showed her.

Ok...this is another update. Hope you enjoy it. ;D
Tam was a little red-headed thing, with a big personality. She entered the room and seemed to take over without saying a word. Mindy could feel the powerful aura radiating from the young woman. Tam was introduced to everyone by Perri. She walked over to Mindy and looked her over.
“So…are you a good witch or a bad witch?” She asked Mindy.
“I guess I’m pretty bad….I turned my cat into a woman when I meant to turn a plant into a rose.” Mindy answered.
“I mean…do you use your magic for good or bad.” Tam asked.
“My grandmother taught me that if you use magic for bad, you can expect bad things to happen. Anyway, I don’t use magic at all if I can help it…I’m not very good at it.” Mindy explained.
“Yes, so I understood from Perri. Here…try this.” Tam lifted her hand and produced a small flame out of the palm of her hand. Mindy watched her and lifted her hand. Nothing appeared in the palm of her hand.
“Picture a flame…picture it in your head.” Tam told her. Mindy closed her eyes and pictured the same flame as what she saw in Tam’s hand. She opened her eyes and saw a roaring fire in her own hand. Mindy jumped and started shaking her hand thinking she was going to get burned. Everyone started screaming and jumping around.
“STOP!” Tam commanded. Everyone stood where they were. The fire in Mindy’s hand went out.
“I see I have some work to do. Well…let’s get started. We need a place to practice.” Tam turned to Perri. “Can we use this room?”
“Yes…of course. Meagan, Kristine, we need to go and do some sightseeing.” Perri rounded up the girls and headed out the door. “Good luck Mindy, and don’t do any damage if you can help it.”
“She’ll be just fine. I’m here now.” Tam told Perri and shooed them out the door.
“So…let’s begin again…shall we?” Tam turned to Mindy and gave her an innocent smile. Mindy felt a wave of terror run through her. This little girl looked so innocent, but Mindy knew that she was very powerful.
“I can tell you have a lot of power in you Mindy. I hope I can help you focus that power. Will you let me help you?” Tam asked her.
“Yes…I am beginning to think that I need to learn to control it better. It’s getting me into too much trouble. I am willing to learn and I appreciate the help.” Mindy sighed. “I just hope I don’t do any major damage.”
“Now don’t worry about that…now let’s get started.” Tam and Mindy worked for a few hours. Tam showed her how she was using too much power for the little things.
“See…it’s like you are blowing out a candle with a hurricane. You just let a little out for the little stuff.” Tam demonstrated by lifting a pillow and moving it over to the other bed. “Now you try it.”
Mindy put out her hand and concentrated on the pillow. She tried to lift it up just a little bit. The pillow slowly rose in the air. It hung there.
“Now try to move it from one bed to the other.” Tam suggested. Mindy concentrated on the pillow. Slowly it began to move over to the other bed. Just then, Captain came out of the other room where she’d been laying on the floor in the sun. Mindy, distracted by the girl/cat, lost her concentration and the pillow exploded into a thousand feathers.
“Oh no! Look what I’ve done!” Mindy cried. Captain ran over and jumped up on the bed, pawing at the feathers happily.
“Hey…that’s ok. Who’s this?” Tam asked pointing to Captain.
“That is my cat, Captain; who I accidently turned into a woman.” Mindy told her disgustedly. Tam laughed hysterically.
“Oh my Lord, Mindy. That is hilarious!” Tam laughed.
“Well you wouldn’t think it’s so funny if it happened to you.” Mindy watched the cat jumping around on the bed.
“Believe me, when I was learning I made some mistakes too. We all do. So what are you going to do about her?” Tam asked.
“For now…nothing. I don’t want to make matters worse. I do need to learn a transporting spell. Do you know how to do that?” Mindy asked.
“Wow…transporting is serious stuff. I’ve never tried it.” Tam said.
“I have my grandmother’s Book of Spells. I am reading it to see if there is a way I can transport myself somewhere else.” Mindy showed her the book.
“This is pretty cool.” Tam flipped through the pages of the book. “A little old-fashioned…how old is this book?”
“It’s very old…older than I am.” Mindy told her.
“Well you look all of twenty- something…that’s not so old.” Tam looked Mindy over.
“If you add 400 years onto it…how would I look then? Actually Tam…I arrived here from the 1600s. I flew here…on a pitchfork after some villagers tried to drown me for being a witch.” Mindy confessed.
“Oooo…tell me! I can’t believe this!!!!” Tam sat on the edge of the bed while Mindy told her story.
“So…you want to learn a transport spell to go back home?” Tam asked her.
“No…I want to go to Paul, and explain who and what I am. I am going to tell him the story…the story I just told you. I have decided that there should be no secrets when it comes to love between two people.” Mindy explained.
“Well before you transport yourself anywhere…we have to teach you to control your magic. Let’s get back to business.” Tam stood ready to get back to work. Mindy sighed and stood too.
“Okay…I’m ready if you are. Let’s get down to some serious witchcraft.” Tam's blue eyes twinkled and she smiled. "Nothing I like better than serious witchcraft...except for maybe blue-eyed surfers that sing."
"Don't tell me you have a thing for Keith?" Mindy smiled.
"Of course...he's the most gorgeous man on earth, and someday...he's mine." Tam laughed.

OK...OK... after a update party here at my house...with cookies suppied by my dear friend. I have finally finished an update. I hope you like it.
That night Mindy got a call from Paul.
“So how has your day been?” Paul asked her.
“Fairly uneventful. I made a new friend. Her name is Tam.” Mindy told him all about Tam, well except that she was a witch and how she was teaching her magic. “And I forgot to mention, she’s in love with Keith. Any way we can set them up?”
“Why would anyone want that puppy?” laughed Paul. “Well, if we are ever in the same town again with Tam, I’ll be happy to introduce them. The lads want to know how Captain is. They really miss her.”
“Captain? Oh…she’s doing fine! You know cats…they adapt to wherever they are.” Mindy looked over to the sleeping woman curled in a ball beside her.
“Good…I kinda miss the little stinker myself…she kinda grows on ya. So I have a day off next week. Can we plan on meeting up?” Paul asked her.
“Well, a plan is in the works on that one. I really can’t give you the details though.” Mindy told him.
“Good…cuz I can’t wait to see you…hold you again.” Paul whispered.
“I can’t wait to see you either…. and we are going to see each other soon, I promise.” Mindy smiled into the phone. “So tell me about the show tonight. Anything happen?”
Paul went on to tell her some of Damian’s antics. They laughed and joked.
Ryan listened to the conversation from his bunk in the bus. Thoughts of the mysterious and mystifying Mindy had disturbed his dreams since she showed up. Her shy smiles, her large brown eyes, her milk white skin, and long silky hair made getting a good night’s sleep difficult. Ryan was being torn in two. He loved Paul like a brother, but somehow, Mindy was there in his heart. The more he tried to stop thinking about her, the more she plagued his mind. He just didn’t understand it and fought the obsession, but felt himself weakening. Maybe he could send her a little gift; a gift from his heart. Of course, he couldn’t put his name on it, but the thought of Mindy wearing a gift from him filled him with pleasure. He made a mental note to look for something for her. Ryan heard Paul laughing. His heart began to ache. He turned and punched his pillow and closed his eyes. Yes…just one gift. It wouldn’t hurt…just one gift would make his heart feel better. He fell asleep with visions of the fair Mindy’s face smiling at him.
The rest of the week went by really quickly. Mindy’s practice paid off as her magic skills improved under Tam’s tutelage. Everyone also worked with Captain who seemed to settle in as a woman. She learned more words each day and even learned to eat properly. This made it very hard for Mindy to even think about changing her back to a cat. But every once in awhile, Captain would revert to her cat ways which made it impossible to take her anywhere but she was definitely coming along.
Besides her magic, Mindy’s days were filled with books. Perri found out about her love of reading and her interest in medicine, so she bought her books to read that she could learn all about the medicine of today. Mindy thought that if she had to stay in this time, she could perhaps use her skills with herbs and knowledge she was learning everyday of today’s medicine. Hopes began to blossom that maybe with these good friends she had and with Paul, her life could be so much better than before.
The middle of the week brought a surprise for Mindy. A desk clerk brought up a wrapped box and another bouquet of red roses saying they had been delivered by messenger to the front desk. There was no card on the flowers, but Mindy knew they were from Paul. The box was small and gift-wrapped in silver. In it was the most beautiful diamonds she had ever seen.
“Diamond earrings!!! Holy Cow!!” Meagan exclaimed.
“Oh!! That’s so romantic! “ Tam said, “I can only hope to get diamond earrings from some gorgeous man….preferably blonde.” Everyone laughed with Tam when she turned red.
“Yes…but how does a person wear them?” Mindy looked at the earrings. They had a post attached to them.
“Well, you have to have pierced ears of course. We can go and get yours pierced so you can wear these and never take them off.” Kristine added. “At least I wouldn’t if I were you.”
“They are beautiful.” Mindy looked at the large sparkling stones. “I guess I can get my ears pierced and I can wear them when I see Paul. After all…it’s only 4 more days until his day off.”
“Let’s plan on doing it this afternoon then. I’ll have Mom find a good place to get it done.” Meagan suggested.
Perri in fact found a nice tattoo parlor that also did piercings. She took Mindy herself and left the girls with Captain. Today’s lesson for Captain was personal hygiene since she continued to lick her hands. Also, bathing and brushing of teeth lessons were in order. Mindy made sure the girls had plenty of nummies on hand because she was sure they would need them.
The tattoo parlor was something that Mindy could not believe even existed. There were people in there covered in tattoos and had many parts of their bodies pierced. Nose, eyebrows, cheeks, tongues…one man was covered in piercings. Mindy couldn’t help but to stare. Perri checked everything out before Mindy was to get her ears pierced to make sure all was sanitized. The man who was going to pierce her ears was large and covered with tattoos, Mindy was very nervous but the man smiled kindly and made her feel at ease. The piercing itself was not as bad as Mindy thought it would be, and the man slipped the new earrings right in. He explained how to take care of her ears and make sure that they didn’t get infected with the germs that Mindy had been reading about in her books.
When Mindy and Perri returned to the room, it looked like a tornado hit. Poor Captain was hiding half under the bed and Kristine, Tam, and Meagan were wet from head to toe.
“That stupid cat tried to BITE ME!” Kristine yelled. “That’s all I wanted to do was get her into the shower and she went ballistic on me…hissing and scratching.”
“Yeah…then she jumped up on the counter and knocked everything off.” Meagan said. “She’s your cat. You are going to have to teach her to take a shower. I’m done with that.”
“Lemme see…Lemme see…” Tam said looking at Mindy’s ears. “Oooo…soooo pretty!”
All three girls stared at Mindy’s new sparkly earrings.
“I can’t wait until he calls to thank him.” Mindy said.
“Maybe you could just send him a quick text for now.” Suggested Kristine, as she began to pick up the mess.
“Hey…that’s a good idea..I’ll do that.” Mindy sat on the edge of the bed.
“I’m speechless…your gift and flowers are wonderful. THANK-YOU! THANK-YOU! THANK-YOU! Talk to you tonight. Love you.”
Mindy pressed send.
On the other end….Paul heard the beep of an incoming text. He took out his phone and glanced at the message. Thank-you for a gift? Huh?
Paul glared over at Neil, who was talking and laughing with Keith, blissfully unaware of the menace that was about to come.

Ok...quick update for you all. Hope you love the story. Your comments help make the story. Keep up the good work!!! I love listening to your suggestions.
Neil was playing a song for Keith when he felt the hands grabbing the front of his shirt and his body being lifted up. He looked straight into the eyes of a very angry Paul. “I oughta pound you into the ground.” Paul whispered dangerously.
Keith pushed his way between the men and faced Paul.
“Ho there! What’s up Paul? I can’t let you pound our little buddy here.” Keith smiled at Paul.
“What are you doing sending gifts and flowers to Mindy.” Paul yelled. “I’m pretty sure I told you to back off.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about Paul.” Neil answered. “I didn’t send any gifts or flowers to anyone.”
“Yeah??? Well who sent them to her? You! That’s who…and don’t worry…I’ll send you flowers.... to your hospital room.” Paul reached for Neil who ducked behind Keith.
“I’m telling you Paul, I didn’t send Mindy anything!” Neil yelled back.
“Come here you little runt!” Paul tried to reach around Keith. Keith grabbed his arm while Declan ran over and grabbed the other. Together they pulled Paul away to the other side of the stage.
“Paul…you need to calm down.” Keith said quietly. “You don’t even know the facts here. I think he is telling the truth…I don’t think he sent Mindy anything.”
“Well…you didn’t see him kissing your girlfriend a couple of days ago like I did, now did you?” Paul replied. “And you didn’t hear him say he was in love with your girlfriend either.”
“Now Paul…he didn’t say he was in love with her.” Keith said calmly.
“Oh he is..trust me. And he better not send her any more of his objects of affection or I’ll….” Paul glared over at Neil.
“You can’t hurt him Paul…he’s your friend. Anyway…I believe him when he says he didn’t send anything. The question is….who did?” Keith wondered.
“I know who did. And the” WHO” better not do it again.” Paul turned and walked away. A nice long walk would calm him down. He wished he had Mindy with him right now. He needed the calmness and reassurance she would give him. He imagined Mindy walking beside him, smiling up at him, wrapping her arms around him, and telling him how silly he was being. That she loved him and it didn’t matter. Nothing mattered but the two of them…him and her…together…forever. Thinking of forever with Mindy calmed him like nothing else could. He walked on…with visions of Mindy, children, and a home dancing around in his head. He walked past a jewelry store. He stopped to look in the window. There…in the window…the most beautiful diamond ring he had ever seen; a simple solitaire, canary diamond ring. Paul opened the door of the store and walked in.
The next few days flew by. Mindy and Tam worked hard on Mindy’s magic skills and Mindy really started to feel comfortable with her magic for the first time in her life. Both girls looked over the Book of Spells for a spell that could Mindy could use to transport her to Paul. Time was running out quickly.
“Hey! I think I found it!” Tam said one day as she read through the book. Mindy was on the other bed reading a medical book. “You did? Let me see!” Mindy jumped up and moved to Tam’s side.
“It says here:
“Spell For Moving From Place to Place.”
“If thou needs to move quickly from one place to another, this spell may be used. Practictioner must have an object from her destination to arrive safely.”
“I wonder if the destination can be a person, or if it has to be a place?” Mindy asked. “I won’t have anything from the place, but I do still have Paul’s sweats that I wore to bed that first night.”
I don’t know…I don’t know. Maybe we should experiment before you try.” Tam read the words to the spell. It was a difficult spell. She was nervous, was Mindy’s new skills up to this spell? She was doing well, but still erratic at times.
Mindy grabbed the book and read the spell.
“The book also says that for best results, it should be done at the witching hour or as close to it as possible.” Mindy read to Tam, “ Paul’s day off is tomorrow, that means I have to go….tonight.”
“Mindy…I don’t like this. This spell is dangerous. I wouldn’t even try it, and I have way more experience than you do.” Tam grabbed Mindy’s hand. “Please think about it. I don’t want to lose you.”
“It”s okay Tam, if I end up somewhere else, I will just call you.” Mindy smiled even though she was nervous.
“Can you call from Antarctica? What if you transported there?” Tam asked her.
“Well…I don’t have one thing on my person that connects me to Antarctica.” Mindy laughed.
“You don’t know that…maybe you will end up in China because your clothes are from China…You could materialize right in some factory ...you don’t know for sure.” Tam supposed. “Please think about this. It could be very dangerous.”
“Yes…I know. But I want to go to him. I owe him an explanation and anyway…I miss him so much.” Mindy hugged Tam to her. “It’s going to be alright. I just feel it. Thank you so much for teaching me and for being my friend. I don’t want to lose you either, believe me.”

Ok...so here is a small update to keep you guys happy for...5 minutes or so. LOL. ***rubs her rear end from being poked so much**** Thanks for being so patient...the updates should come faster now that I don't have school anymore.
Mindy and Tam worked the rest of the afternoon on the spell and Mindy’s magic. Meagan and Kristine arrived and they all decided to go eat dinner somewhere. The topic of conversation was the upcoming night and the spell.
“You’re going to try it tonight? Already?” Meagan asked.
“Yes Meagan. I need to talk to him and he has the day off tomorrow.” Mindy explained. “I won’t be able to get back until witching hour the next night.”
“Well, I hope it goes ok with Paul or it’s going to be a long day for you tomorrow.” Kristine worried. “They are clear in Indiana, or we could drive to pick you up.”
“Hey! I’m just worried that she gets there at all.” Tam said, “You better bring your cell phone to call us when you get there.”
Mindy grabbed Tam’s hand and squeezed it.
“Don’t worry so much, Miss Worry Wart…I feel sure everything will be fine.” Mindy smiled to reassure her nervous friend. Mindy was pretty nervous herself but refused to let her new friends know. So much could go wrong. Doubts plagued her, the closer the time came to leave.
“Well, you can’t just leave from the hotel room. You need all 3 elements for this much power and besides…it will make a terrible mess.” Tam explained as she ate her pasta.
“I know the perfect place.” Mindy said, thinking of the magical beach that she and Paul took their midnight swim. “I wonder if I can find the driver that took Paul and me to the beach.”
“Why?” Kristine asked.
“Well…that beach would be perfect for casting my spell.” Mindy answered. “And that driver knows where the beach is.”
“You could text Paul and ask him what company he used.” Meagan suggested.
“Or we could just call around and find the company for ourselves.” Tam suggested.
“Well we have some time, witching hour is about 2 a.m. tonight.” Mindy said.
“What? I thought it was midnight?” Kristine said.
“It depends on the sunset and sunrise. You have to count how many hours are between and divide it be twelve…well…there is a math to it,” Tam explained to the girls. “Anyway, tonight we figured it to be around 2 a.m.”
The girls finished their meals and headed back to the room. Everyone pulled out their cell phones and began calling the different companies that leased out limos with drivers by the name of John. Of course, John being a common name, almost half of them said yes. They then had to ask if the driver picked up a couple at the theater…so on and so forth. Finally, Kristine got a hit. They had a driver by the name of John that picked up a couple at the theater on the night in question, but he was off for the night. Kristine got the dispatcher to promise to have the driver call her. When she hung up, the girls waited anxiously for the call. Twenty minutes later, the call came in. Mindy talked to John and asked him if he would take them to the beach that he had taken her and Paul to. He agreed to take them and promised to be in front of the Hilton at midnight.
Mindy and Tam got everything together that Mindy would need. Mindy cut a lock of Captain’s hair and tied it with a ribbon, so she could get back home. She was scared. She made the girls promise that if something went wrong, they would take care of Captain for her. Captain, knew that something was up since she could always tell when Mindy was upset. She kept by Mindy’s side barely letting her move. She kept playing with Mindy’s new earrings that were very sparkly. Mindy’s newly pierced ear started to hurt and throb because of it. Mindy finally found a little stuffed mouse to distract Captain from her sore ear. Captain happily kneeled on the floor and played with the little mouse. With 15 minutes to spare, the girls grabbed the bags they needed and headed downstairs. Captain was left in the room with Perri.
John was waiting as promised by the long car. He opened the door for the girls and smiled at the ooohhs and aaahhhs as they got in. Mindy was the last to enter. She stopped by the open door.
“Thank you so much for taking us tonight.” Mindy smiled at him.
“No problem, miss.” John answered her. “I had nothing going on tonight anyway.”
“And you probably wouldn’t tell me if you did.” She said. “I’m afraid I’m going to have to swear you to secrecy tonight.”
“Miss, my middle name is Secrecy. Whatever I see, never passes my lips. I promise you this.” John answered.
“Once again, my deepest thanks sir.” Mindy curtsied and entered the limo. Memories of Paul immediately overwhelmed her. She couldn’t wait to see him again. She thought of him as the limo rolled away. The excitement of the girls made her smile but she stared out the window and watched the scenery pass by. How would he take the news? Would he still want her? Would he hate her? Mindy touched her ear again, as she thought. It still hurt badly. She wondered if it had an infection of bacteria like she read about in one of her books. She would have to read about it again. Her hand had healed up nicely and the stitches had dissolved out about a week after they were put in. It was amazing how much was known about medicine now. She couldn’t wait to learn more. The next thing she know the limo was turning around in the middle of the highway and pulling up to a familiar beach.

Just another little update. ***laughs evilly*** Hope you like it.
John got out and opened the door for the girls. All four girls climbed out of the limo and headed for the beach. Mindy walked to the edge of the water and lifted her face to the sky. She said a little prayer to God to keep her safe. She then turned to her friends.
“Well…let’s get started…shall we?” she smiled. Tam made a circle in the sand and Mindy stood in the middle. The girls sat around the circle and watched as Mindy held her arms out to the side.
“Mother Earth…I call to you.” Mindy called out. The moon seemed to get brighter bathed Mindy in light.
“Brother Air…I call to you.” Mindy called out again. The wind whipped up and swirled around the girls.
“Sister Water...I call to you.” Mindy called out one last time. The waves of the ocean began to get higher.
“Hair of black and eyes of blue.” “Voice of an angel, his heart so true. “Bring me to this man today.” “I wear his clothes to show the way” “Take me to the one who loves me.” “So shall I speak, so shall it be.”
The wind whipped and thunder roared. Mindy’s hair whipped wildly around her face. Mindy felt her hair catch on her sore ear; she grabbed her ear, just as she felt herself dissolve into nothingness.
Next thing she knew…she was reforming in what looked to be a hotel room. Mindy looked around the room trying to get her bearings. She felt a bit dizzy and confused from the spell. In the bed, someone was sleeping. Paul! Mindy walked quietly around the bed so she could see his face. How should she wake him? What would she say? Just as she was trying to decide, the man opened his eyes and looked at her. Not the eyes of Paul, but the eyes of….
“Mindy? Are you a dream? What are you doing here?”

Hello all!!! Love that you are enjoying the story. You know I love you all so.....here's your update. Enjoy!
She stood stunned. What should she do? Mindy backed away from the bed and her headed turned…searching for an escape through the dark room. Maybe he will think she was an illusion. Maybe…Oh Lord…what should she do? She ran into the bathroom and hid inside…slowly closing the door. Maybe he would go back to sleep and then she could slip out. Mindy’s heart was racing, and she could barely catch her breath. dang..dang…dang…she was never going to use magic again! There was rustling in the room. Mindy pressed her ear to the door. The door suddenly opened, smacking Mindy in the head and sending her into the shower backwards, making her smack the back of her head on the tub. The light switched on.
“Mindy! What the….? Are you alright, love?” Ryan stood before her, reaching in the bathtub to help her out.
“Ugh…ok…Ryan…this is pretty embarrassing…I can’t believe this.” Ryan helped her up. “I guess you need an explanation.”
“Did you hurt yourself? Here let me look at your head.” Ryan began to check her head for bumps. Mindy started to back away but ran into the toilet with the back of her legs, almost tipping over again.
“Hey! Watch yourself or you’ll fall again.” Ryan wrapped his arm around her shoulder and led her from the bathroom and to a chair by the window. He sat her down and proceeded to look through her hair.
“Not that I’m complaining here, but….what are you doing here and how did you get in my room?” Ryan bent his head and kissed the bump on the back of her head. “Looks like you got a small bump there. I’m sorry…I didn’t realize you were hiding behind that door.”
“Ryan…do you think you could get me a glass of water?” Mindy managed to squeak out. She was shaking so badly, she needed to calm down and get herself out of here.
“Of course…love.” Ryan walked back to the bathroom. Mindy quickly used her new magic to unlock the door. She concentrated on the chain of the door. It slowly slid from the track and dropped out. The water was running in the bathroom. She next worked on large knob that locked intruders out. Slowly the knob turned. Ryan walked toward her with the glass of water. Mindy’s face turned red when she realized he was in a pair of sweatpants and nothing else. She quickly looked at the floor, her face flaming. Ryan kneeled down in front of her and lifted her chin with his finger. She looked directly into his concerned eyes. For a second…a brief second…the lovely concerned eyes looking at her…the lovely smell of him surrounding her…Mindy had to shake herself from his hypnotic appeal. No wonder all those women fell under his spell. He seeming to ooze masculinity from his very pores. She felt it even though she loved Paul. She grasped the glass from his hand and gulped down the water.
“Thank you…I suppose I should explain. You see…I thought I was in Paul’s room…the desk clerk must have made a mistake and gave me the wrong key.” Mindy quickly explained.
“Well that explains the look of shock in your face…and you running away.” Ryan stood up and backed away. Disappointment overwhelmed him. For a minute…for a brief lovely minute he thought she had come to him. “Paul’s room is next door.” “Yes…well…I’m sure he is waiting for me. I...I better go. I’m sorry I disturbed your sleep.” Mindy stood quickly and walked to the door. Ryan walked behind her, his hand on the small of her back. When she reached for the doorknob, his hand covered hers. She stilled looking at the hands clasped.
“For the record…it’s not the first time you’ve disturbed my sleep, Mindy. Feel free to stop by anytime. I hope your head doesn’t hurt you too much.” Once again she felt the pull, as Ryan’s voice whispered softly in her ear…she shivered.
“Well…thank you and once again, I’m sorry.” Mindy said awkwardly as she turned the knob and opened the door.
“I swear I locked this door before I went to bed.” Ryan seemed to say to himself. “Must of forgot. Goodnight, Mindy. Tell Paul I said hi.”
“Yes…I will. Goodnight Ryan.” Mindy heard the door shut behind her and took in a deep breath to relieve the shaking. That was a close one. Mindy pulled the cell phone from her pocket. The girls would be waiting for her call. The phone ran only once before Tam picked up.
“Well? Are you there? Did it work? Tell me…tell me…!” Tam didn’t even say hello.
“It worked…but with a snag.” Mindy told her everything that happened in Ryan’s room.
“I don’t understand it. How did you get into Ryan’s room? I thought we had that spell down pat.” Tam answered. “I just thank God you’re safe and not a puddle of goo or anything.”
“Well…I was almost of puddle of goo with Ryan walking around half dressed…nevermind…I love Paul. But there is something about Ryan. Now what do I do? I’m in the hallway and one of the rooms on either side of this one is Paul’s.”
“Just call him and tell him to open the door…duh.” Tam said. “Or…unlock the door with your magic.”
“Tam…I cannot go walking through everyone’s room in the middle of the night. Never mind…I’ll figure out something. I’ll talk to you later. You guys go to sleep.” Mindy told her.
“I would but we are still driving back in this lovely limo. I could love this life.” Tam replied.
Mindy smiled.
“Have fun! And be nice to John; he’s been an angel.” Mindy said.
“Will do…he is kinda cute. Maybe Kristine could make his day since I am Keith’s girl already.” Tam laughed.
“Stop!” Mindy laughed. “I didn’t mean that kind of nice!”
“I know. We’ll give him a big tip and gush all over him. Believe me…he will think he’s the king of all limo drivers when we are done with him.” Tam laughed. “Good luck Mindy…talk to you later.”
“Bye Tam…tell Meagan and Kristine “thank you” for me.” Mindy said.
“OK…Laters.” Tam hung up. Mindy felt a bit lost. Well the only thing to do was to bother Ryan again. Mindy tapped on the door. The door swung open again.
“I’m sorry to bother you again….” Mindy started to say.
Ryan pointed to the door that was Paul’s.
“Uh..ok..thanks Ryan…thanks again. I owe you a big one.” Mindy turned red.
“I’ll be sure to collect on that someday.” Ryan smiled and winked at her, then closed the door again. Mindy took another deep breath and stood in front of Paul’s door. Concentrating on the lock in front of her, she managed to unlock it. Grabbing the handle she turned and opened the door silently.

***waves hi to everyone!!!!*** Well...the update you all have been waiting for....hope it was worth the wait. ;D You guys are awesome!!!!
Mindy closed the door silently behind her and tiptoed to the bed. She heard a slight snore coming from a pile of covers…a pillow covering the snorer’s head. She was a little nervous after the last experience…was this Paul this time?
“Paul?” She whispered quietly. No answer.
“Paul?” She whispered a little louder; still no answer, only a snort.
“Paul?” Mindy shook a piece of the lump under the covers and spoke much louder.
Paul pulled the pillow from his face and looked up at her. His hair was a mess and he was still half asleep. Was he dreaming? Mindy stood by his bed; her long hair flowing free. Her hands fluttered around her like she didn’t know what to do with them, but finally she settled hugging herself. Paul closed his eyes then opened them again. She was still there.
“Mindy?” Paul sat up quickly. “Mindy! What the heck?”
Mindy backed a little away from the bed, not sure if he was angry or what.
“Hi..Paul. Yes…It’s me. I hope you’re not angry that I came.” Mindy said quietly. “Angry?” Paul rubbed is hand over his face. “Not angry…more like confused. How did you get here?”
“That’s kind of the reason that I came. I want to tell you everything about me and how I got here, if you have a moment anyway.” Mindy took in the sight of a rumpled Paul. He was so cute when he was confused and just waking up. She was nervous, but just looking at him again calmed her down.
“A moment? OK…OK…just give me a moment here to wake up. I keep thinking I’m dreaming. Would you mind turning around…so I can get out of bed?” Paul asked.
Mindy quickly walked to the window and turned her back. She heard the covers rustle as Paul got out of bed and put something on. Next thing she knew his arms were around her, his head snuggled up next to hers. She smiled to herself because she knew that this is where she wanted to be…here…in Paul’s arms…forever.
“Now…tell me how you got here and why you didn’t tell me you were coming to visit. Not that I’m complaining, mind you. I’ve missed you like crazy.” Paul whispered in her ear.
“I wasn’t sure I could get here. I didn’t want you to be disappointed. Could we sit down? So I can explain myself?” Mindy turned in his arms.
“Sure…after a proper welcome.” Paul reached up, both hands cupping her cheeks and kissed her gently. “Now…what is this all about, love?”
“I’ve been keeping a secret from you that is very important. I think that you should know all about me before this goes on any further.” Mindy answered him looking down at the floor. “I’m afraid to tell you; you might hate me afterwards.”
Paul lifted her chin and looked into her eyes.
“Love…nothing you could say would make me love you less.” Paul said looking deep into her eyes.
“You say that now…but I was almost killed by a man of the cloth because of it.” Mindy sighed and finally confessed.
“Paul, I was born a witch in the year of our Lord, 1662. I lived in a cottage in a small village in Massachusetts. A preacher tried to force me to marry him and when I refused he got the villagers to burn down my cottage and try me for witchery. I traveled here from the past on a pitchfork after the preacher tried to murder me by drowning me for being a witch. My pitchfork flew into your bus and that’s how I got here.”
Silence filled the room. Mindy didn’t dare look at him. Instead she looked over his shoulder ready for his anger. When no explosion came, no accusations flew, she ventured to look into his face. He was grinning at her. Then actually burst out laughing.
“And what is so funny? Did I miss something here?” She said indignantly; which only starting him laughing harder. Tears rolled down his face as he sat on the floor and held his side.
“I’m glad my life entertains you so much.” Mindy put her hands on her hips and frowned at Paul on the floor.
“Oh Lord, Mindy…you are quite the corker.” Paul laughed. “I can’t believe you came up with such an outrageous story by yourself. Did those friends of yours help you with that one or did the lads up you up to this?”
Mindy stared at him in amazement. She thought of so many scenarios that could have happened but never expected his amusement. Her face tightened. She flicked her hand and a pillow from the bed flew and hit him smack in the back of his laughing head.
“Hey!” Paul rubbed the back of his head and looked toward the bed. A pillow flew off it, smacking him in the face.
She flicked her hand again and another pillow flew….and another one…and another one.
“Hold on here” Paul fought the flying pillows and they seemed to come alive pummeling him in the head…like a giant pillow fight without human hands holding the pillows.
“Okay! Cease! Stop! I give up!” Paul yelled and the pillows all quieted down. He looked at the pillows all lying in a heap on the floor and looked up at Mindy.
“How did you do that?” He asked.
“I told you…I was born a witch. Every woman in my family has been born a witch, though until recently, I wasn’t a very good witch. But I’ve been practicing.” Mindy answered.
“Yes, I see that you have.” Paul looked at her intently as he slowly rose from the floor; sort of like a scientist would look at a new strange creature that he’d never seen before. “Can you do something else? Show me something else?”
“I can try. I told you, I’m not a very good witch and my skills are erratic at best.” Mindy held her hand out flat and tried Tam’s flame in the palm trick that she had been practicing. She concentrated on picturing the flame, but she was too nervous. A giant ball of flame leaped out of her hand and flew around the room. Paul grabbed Mindy and covered her head, dragging her to the floor. After a few turns around the room, the flame finally blinked out.
“I told you I wasn’t very good.” Mindy said miserably.
“Yes….I can see that now.” Paul said still looking for the flame while holding Mindy tightly to him. “Remind me to never ask you to do something again.”
“Well after the “Captain” incident, I told myself I would never do magic again.” Mindy told him.
“The “Captain” incident? What about Captain? She’s alright isn’t she? You didn’t kill her or start her on fire or anything bad did you?” Paul asked.
“Of course not! I just accidently….um…well….I transformed her into a human.” Mindy confessed.
“What!! Captain is a human now?” Paul looked at her disbelieving as Mindy looked down at the floor. Paul sat back in amazement and stared at Mindy. Quite truthfully…he didn’t know what to say. If it was true, which he was beginning to think it was, it was quite amazing. And Mindy herself…what an incredible woman…what an incredible life…what an incredible story.
“OK…so say I believe you, how did you get here tonight? On your broom or pitchfork?” Paul asked.
“No…I used a spell from my grandmother’s Book of Spells; a transporting spell that brought me here. It was a very difficult spell and I wasn’t sure whether it would work…but here I am…at least until tomorrow night when I have to go back.” Mindy explained.
“So you said that your skills are erratic at best. Is it dangerous…this transporting spell?” Paul asked.
“It’s a difficult spell…it may have been a tad bit risky; but I wanted to come and talk to you.” Mindy said.
“Okay…so you risked your life to come here by magic spell, risking your life mind you, when you could have just flown in an nice semi-safe airplane?” Paul started to get louder and Mindy started to back away. “Risked you life, Mindy? Do I have this straight?”
“Well…you make it sound like it was dangerous. I made it just fine…well kind of…anyway I’m here so we can talk.” Mindy explained.
“And how does this spell work? Do you fly where you want to go?” Paul asked. “Well…no…my body just kind of dissolves into a million pieces and then just reappears again where ever I wanted to go.” Mindy told him.
“Ok…so that scares the heck out of me. You are not going back the way you came…do you hear me? I am not having you dissolve into a million pieces…ever…not ever! You can just call your friends and tell them to get in their car, right this minute and come and get you the normal way.” Paul stood up and started to pace.
“Paul, I can…” Mindy started.
Paul turned and glared at her.
“Don’t say it! Don’t you dare say that you can do it. Because I am not letting you do it…I mean it..I am putting my foot down here!” Paul said sternly.
“Of course…if you don’t want me to, I won’t do the spell.” Mindy stood too and pulled her cell phone out of her pocket. She dialed up Perri’s number. After assuring her that everything was okay, she asked Perri if she could drive to Indiana and pick her up. Perri agreed since she thought the spell was dangerous also and didn’t want Mindy to do it again either. Anyway, they had to drive that way on their way home to Omaha.
Mindy hung up her phone and looked at Paul.
“Come here.” He said, beckoning her with his finger. She slowly walked toward him. The last two feet, he took her arm and pulled her to him, wrapping her in his arms like he would never let her go.
“I don’t like that you risked your life, but I’m so glad you came to me and we had this little talk. I always knew there was something special about you.” Paul whispered in her ear.
“There’s nothing special about me.” Mindy answered.
“Oh yes love, you are very special to me. Thank you for coming to me. I love you so much, I don’t know how I could live without you in my life right now.” Paul answered. Mindy smiled and snuggled into his arms. “Now let’s get some sleep. I want to take you to some places I think you’ll enjoy tomorrow. Would you like to go to the cinema?”
“Yes…if I knew what that was.” Mindy answered.
“You are going to love the cinema. And I can take you to the zoo and a restaurant at the very top of a building…it revolves while you eat you know.” Paul explained. Mindy listened to him talk about things she had no idea about. She’d never been so happy. It seemed like the weight of the world was off her shoulders. Paul knew her secret, yet he still loved her. Paul threw all the pillows back on the bed. He tucked her in under the covers and he laid on top of the covers on the other side. They talked for awhile until Mindy’s eyes finally started to get heavy and she fell asleep. Paul watched her sleep for a long time. Then thought about the ring he bought. Tomorrow he would ask her to be his wife. Tomorrow she would be his forever. The song kept playing in his head… ”Tomorrow…tomorrow…I love ya…tomorrow…your only a day away.” He laughed at the silliness of it. Finally,he fell asleep with dreams of Mindy and himself surrounded by children.

OK...so here is another update for you. Hope you enjoy it. Love all the great comments you give me.
Mindy woke up the next morning to hear the shower running and Paul singing loudly about someone “Living on a Prayer”. She hopped out of bed and quickly called Tam to let her know what was going on.
“Hey….it’s about time you called!” Were the first words out of Tam’s mouth.
“He’s not upset! We’re going to the cinema today and to a zoo!” Mindy told her happily.
“Oh Goody! The zoo…I love the zoo. We’re headed your way now. Just about halfway there already.” Tam said.
“So when can we expect you?” Mindy asked her.
After a short discussion, to which Mindy could here all four people talking at once, Tam got back on the phone.
“Perri says about 8 hours.”
“I’ll be looking for you, call me when you get close. I’m not sure where I am right now.” Mindy looked around the room.
“That’s ok….we’ll find you. By the way…I expect a Keith introduction when we get there.” Tam whispered.
“I’ll see what I can do.” Mindy laughed.
“OK… Laters Mindy.” Mindy hung up the phone just as Paul opened the door to the bathroom and walked out….rubbing his head with a towel.
“Good morning.” Paul smiled.
“Good morning.” Mindy blushed.
“Okay…so…looks like we are going to have to go shopping again. You can’t wear those sweats all day again.” Paul said.
“Oh no…I can wear my old dress, you still have it don’t you?” Mindy asked.
“Yes I do…but you can’t wear this old thing.” Paul dug into his suitcase and pulled out the dress that Mindy was wearing when she arrived. She took it from him and shook it out. Paul was right. Now that she was seeing it through modern eyes, it looked worn and faded.
“We’ll begin Paul and Mindy’s “Day of Fun” with a little trip to the mall. How does that sound?” Paul smiled and lifted his eyebrow.
“It sounds like the beginning of a very lovely day.” Mindy smiled back. “But first you must feed me.”
“Of course! A large breakfast is a must! Would you like to use the bathroom?” Paul motioned to the door of the bathroom.
“I shall be quick! This is going to be so much fun!” Mindy scurried into the bathroom and shut the door. She quickly washed up. She looked at her sore earlobe that was now swollen and had puss coming from it. That didn’t look good. Taking a hot washcloth, she applied it to her ear and cleaned it up a bit. She couldn’t wait for their day of fun. Paul was waiting when she opened the door.
“Ready?” At her nod he opened the door and they walked out into the hall.
“Let’s get this out of the way first.” Paul pulled her into an embrace and kissed her lightly. She felt so good in his arms…fit so perfectly. A door opened and closed behind him.
“Yeah…sorry….don’t mean to interrupt.” A voice said behind them. “Hello Mindy. How did you get here.” Mindy looked behind Paul and saw Neil standing there.
“Hello Neil…long story but just got here. How are you?” Mindy asked.
“She’s here to visit me, old boy…now run along.” Paul said rudely.
“Well…I guess maybe I’ll see you around.” Neil started to walk away.
“Neil! It was good to see you again.” Mindy said loudly at the retreating Neil. “You didn’t have to be so rude.” She scolded Paul.
“I don’t like him around you….remember…I saw him kissing you.” Paul kissed her again.
“That was just a misunderstanding. He thought we weren’t together.” Mindy said.
“No…he knew what he was doing. By the way…what did he have to get for you?” Paul asked.
“My grandmother’s Book of Spells was in the pocket of my dress. I didn’t want it to get lost or in the wrong hands. It can be very dangerous to the wrong person.” Mindy explained.
“I wish you could have trusted me instead of asking him.” Paul started walking down the hall.
“I promise, I will trust you from now on.” Mindy said. “I’m sorry you were hurt.”
The two headed toward the restaurant in the hotel. Paul ordered a giant breakfast and Mindy ordered some oatmeal and toast. While eating she reached up to touch her sore ear.
“What’s the matter with your ear?” Paul asked.
“I believe that one of the earlobes is infected. I had to get them pierced to wear the beautiful earrings that you sent me.” Mindy answered.
“Earrings? Let me see.” Paul stood and knelt by Mindy’s chair. He looked at the beautiful diamond earrings that someone else had sent her. They were large and cost someone a pretty penny. Mindy’s ear was swollen and red.
“I’m afraid you are going to have to take them out love. They will only get worse if you leave them in.” Paul told her.
“But they are so beautiful! I love them so much! And they were a special present…from you!” Mindy said dismayed.
“They are cheap and not even real diamonds…I should never have sent them to you…they are just causing you pain. I will buy you some new ones that won’t infect your ears and are real.” Paul lied to Mindy. He just wanted those earrings that he didn’t give her away from her.
“Well…if you say so, then I will take them out. ” Mindy reached to her sore ear and took out the earring…wincing at the sharp pain; then took out the other one.
“I’ll take those and hold them for you love. Now your ear should feel much better in a few days.” Paul held out his hand and Mindy dropped the earrings in them. Paul took the offending earrings and dropped them in his pocket. He went and sat back down to eat. Who would have sent her such a gift? Those earrings were not cheap. The thought disturbed him.
“Now….let’s eat and start our “Day of Fun”!” Paul said smiling over his large breakfast.
“Hey Mindy!!! What are you doing here!!! Is Meagan with you?” Damian walked up to the table and sat. He picked up a fork and started eating off Paul’s plate. Paul frowned at him while chewing.
“No…but she is on her way. She should be here before supper. How are you Damian?” Mindy replied.
“Just great…a wee bit homesick but it’s all good.” Damian stuck a fork in a sausage on Paul’s plate.
“Hey! Get your own, plate!” Paul complained.
“I’m a growing boy here! I need food!” Damian laughed.
“Yeah…I’ll pound the piss out of ya if you eat one more bite of my brekkie.” Paul told him.
“Hi Mindy!” A voice came up behind her. Mindy turned and Keith walked up.
“Hello Keith! Nice to see you again.” Mindy said.
“Oh boy…the gangs all here!” Paul said sarcastically. Keith sat down at the table, picked up a fork and took a bite off Paul’s plate.
“Hey…bugger off!” Paul said to Keith pulling his plate away from him.
“What you doing here Mindy?” Keith asked.
“Long story, hey Keith…I have a friend that will be here this evening. She really wants to meet you badly. Would you do me a favor and meet her tonight?” Mindy asked him.
“Hey…sure…no prob here. I’ll catch up with ya laters.” Keith jumped up from the table. “Damian…let’s leave lover boy here with his girl and his brekkie.” Damian stood and said his goodbyes.
Ryan watched the pair from the corner table. He relived over and over, waking up and seeing Mindy. It was a dream come true, until he found out it was a mistake. For just a few minutes…she was his. The longing bubbled up inside. Paul was his friend, he had to remember that. Ryan watched Mindy’s face laughing when Paul said something to her. She was so beautiful; especially when she smiled. He watched the pair get up from the table and head out of the restaurant.
“So…I believe the first thing we have to do is get you something to wear.” Paul hailed a cab.
They were let off at a mall. The two of them walked around looking into all the stores. Paul bought her a pair of blue jeans and a sweater to wear. Mindy teased him that he wouldn’t have any money left after she got done with him. He just put his arm around her and said she was worth it. They stopped at the ice cream shop and Paul bought some Rocky Road ice cream, and they shared a cup. While walking around, Mindy spotted a beautiful long red dress in the window of a shop. It was a renaissance style dress, with a scoop neckline and long sleeves. There were gold braids along the seams and neckline and gold ribbon that laced in the back. Mindy thought it the most beautiful dress she had ever seen.
“Well, let’s go in and try it on!” Paul said and pulled Mindy into the store.
In the dressing room, the sales lady helped her lace and tighten the back of the dress. When Mindy looked into the mirror, she held her breath. It was a spectacular dress, worthy of a queen. She walked out to show Paul.
“You have to get that dress Mindy. It was made for you.” Paul told her.
“I have no place to wear such a beautiful dress. It is a waste of money.” Mindy replied.
“You can wear it tonight. I have a very special night planned and it involves dining at a very exclusive restaurant. It would be perfect to wear.” Paul told her.
Mindy wanted the dress so much…she let Paul talk her into it. She went back to change into the blue jeans and sweater and Paul paid for the purchase.
Next on the agenda was going to the cinema. Luckily there was a movie theater right in the mall, so the two headed over. Paul chose the Disney movie Toy Story 3, since he thought Mindy would enjoy that over a murder mystery or sci fi. Paul bought a big tub of popcorn and some cherry Icees to drink. When the movie came on, Paul was too busy watching the joy and wonder on Mindy’s face as she watched the movie. She was amazed as the story of toys that were friends. When the show was over, Mindy talked excitedly about Buzz and Woody. Paul just grinned and put his arm around her enjoying her happiness. He looked forward to making Mindy happy forever. On the way out to the cab, Paul noticed a jewelry shop. He stopped and browsed the cases. In one of those cases was a diamond heart necklace with matching earrings. He thought they would look pretty with the new dress. Mindy told him she didn’t want or need the jewelry, but he insisted on buying them for her. He didn’t want her asking for the other earrings back since he planned on throwing out them out.
While in the cab heading to the zoo, Tam called Mindy to let her know they were almost there. Mindy let Paul give her the address of the hotel they were staying in. They would be there in a few more hours.
Mindy loved the zoo. She giggled while watching the monkeys playing and was amazed by the exotic lions. After visiting the aquarium, where Mindy watched the fish swim over their heads, they headed over to the dolphin show. Mindy was thoroughly entertained by the tricks the dolphins did. One of the trainers, who recognized Paul from the show, offered to let Mindy pet one of the dolphins. She was thrilled to touch one of the cute dolphins. After the show, Paul paid for her and him to ride on the carousel that was at the park. Paul enjoyed watching her laugh as the carousel went around. Such simple pleasures….she was so different from other women he dated. The couple finally headed back to the hotel, after a call from Tam informing them they had arrived. At the hotel, they stopped at the desk. Perri left a message for them to let them know what room they were in.
“Well…I guess I’ll see you at around 6:00 then. We have reservations at 7:00 at the restaurant.” Paul said as they walked down the hallway toward the room.
“Oh Paul…I had so much fun today. The movie…the zoo…this beautiful dress…the ice cream!!! It was…” Mindy shut up as Paul kissed her softly.
“And just think…the day isn’t even over yet. I’ll see you in around an hour or so. I love you.” Paul told her as he handed the packages he carried over to her.
“I love you too…so much. I’ll see you soon.” Mindy told him, then turned and knocked on the door. Meagan opened the door and let her in.

Ahhhh my dear readers. This may be the end for our young lovers. I hope you do not hate me forever for this update. This was originally the end..I hope you feel moved by this lovely story. Thanks for reading it.
Paul whistled happily as he walked back to his room. Tonight was the night! He pictured the night in his head as he fingered the box with the ring in his pocket. The table would be along the window; a panoramic view of the city in lights, a backdrop to the two of them. Candlelight, soft music plays in the background. He would get down on one knee of course. She would blush and smile shyly at him; then say "Oh yes Paul! I would love to be your wife!" He would put the diamond on her finger and she would throw herself in his arms. Paul was deep in his lovely daydream when he ran smack dab into a body.
“Hey….watch where you’re going old man.” Ryan steadied Paul. “Got your head in the clouds?”
“Sorry…just daydreaming. I have a big date tonight.” Paul told Ryan. “Can you keep a secret?”
“Sure….what’s up?” Ryan asked.
“Tonight’s the night I’m proposing to Mindy.” Paul told him.
Ryan’s stomach fell to his feet. It wasn’t like he didn’t know it was coming. He’d seen the writing on the wall since they first met.
“Hey…I’m happy for you my friend. Good luck and tell Mindy I said congratulations.” Ryan slapped him on the back and moved to unlock the door to his room.
“Thanks Ry…I’ll tell her.” Paul smiled and moved to his own room.
Ryan let himself in the room, closed the door behind him and leaned his back against it. No…NO…NO…this could not be happening! He slid down the door into a crouch and ran his hands through his hair. He heard the door slam on all his chances…all his dreams. Well maybe not completely closed. Paul still had to propose and Mindy still had to say yes. She didn’t even know how he felt about her. Would she give him a chance if she knew? He was pretty sure he saw a spark of interest in her eyes last night. A plan began to form in Ryan’s head. Ryan got up and went to the phone and dialed the front desk.
Mindy was engulfed in hugs as soon as she walked through the door.
“Oh my God…..I’m so glad your okay!” Tam cried as she threw herself at Mindy.
“Tell us everything!” Meagan demanded. “And don’t leave out one small detail.”
Mindy laughed as all her friends started talking at once. Captain put her arms around Mindy and laid her head on Mindy’s shoulder.
“Mindy.” She said. “My Mindy.”
“Hello, Captain.” Mindy hugged the girl to her and ran her hand over her hair. “I missed you my friend. How have you been doing with our friends?”
“She’s been doing great!” Kristine said. “We even ran into Neil on our way in. Captain walked right up to him and did the same thing as she’s doing to you. She even said “My Neil”. Neil was so sweet, he just hugged her to him then turned and asked for an introduction. He looked like he might be a little lovestruck.”
“Really? Well Captain…do you have an admirer already? Neil would be a sweet one. Maybe this could turn into something.” Mindy said. Captain purred and said “Neil!”
Everyone laughed.
“So…tell us what happened when you got here.” Tam asked.
“You wouldn’t believe it, but I ended up transporting to RYAN’S room! And he woke up and saw me.” Mindy started her tale.
“I knew that line “Hair of black and eyes of blue” might get you in trouble.” Tam declared. “So what did you do?”
“I ran and hid in the bathroom, then fell in the tub.” Mindy laughed. “He pulled me out and helped me.”
“Ryan is such a great guy.” Kristine said.
“Yes…and I owe him a favor, that’s for sure.” Mindy agreed.
Mindy went on to tell the girls the rest of her tale and showed them the dress she would be wearing tonight for her dinner date with Paul. Of course they all offered to help her get ready for her date. Tam curled her hair in big fat ringlets and Kristine applied a touch of makeup since she knew Mindy didn’t care for it. When they were just about done when the phone rang. Meagan answered it. It was Ryan asking for Mindy. Mindy took the call.
“Hello Ryan.” Mindy answered.
“Mindy! I was hoping I could call up that favor you owe me.” Ryan said.
“Of course! What can I do for you?” Mindy replied.
“Well, could you just come up to my room and give me your opinion on something.” Ryan asked.
“I’d be glad to…would tomorrow be okay?” Mindy said.
“I know it’s an imposition, but could you come right now? It’s really important that I talk to you right now.” Ryan pleaded.
“I’m really kind of in a rush right now, Ryan….” Mindy told him.
“I know…I know...Paul told me you had a date. This won’t take long.” Ryan assured her.
“Okay…yes…fine…I’ll be up in a few minutes then. See you in a little bit.” Mindy hung up the phone. “Wonder what that was all about?” She thought to herself. Well she would soon find out.
“I’ll be right back…I have to run to Ryan’s room for a minute. If Paul comes tell him I’ll be right with him.” Mindy told the girls. She didn’t even put her shoes on, but ran out the door and headed to Ryan’s room. She tapped on the door, it opened and Ryan smiled, letting her in. Paul heard the tap on the neighboring door. Thinking it was his door; he opened it and caught a glimpse of Mindy walking in Ryan’s room. What was this? He wasn’t going to rush to judgment here. There must be some logical reason why Mindy would go to Ryan’s room. He decided to wait in the hall until she came out. He leaned back against the wall and stared a hole in Ryan’s door. She would be out soon, he was sure of it. Then an explanation was in order. Mindy walked into the room and looked around, not sure what to expect.
“Thanks for coming so quickly, Mindy. Wow! You look incredibly beautiful, love.” Ryan lifted her hand, twirling her around.
“Thank you very much.” Mindy gave Ryan a little curtsy and smiled. “What did you need from me, Ryan?”
“Mindy, please sit down. I need your advice.” Ryan walked her over to the chair and she sat down.
“Now…I seem to have a problem here. You see….” Ryan started to pace in front of Mindy. “You see…I find that I am in love.”
“Ryan! That’s wonderful! I’m so happy for you!” Mindy stood and hugged Ryan.
“Yes…well there is a wee bit of a problem.” Ryan cleared his throat and looked down into Mindy’s happy face. “The woman I am in love with is seeing someone else right now. Actually…she is seeing a friend of mine.”
“Oh no! Are they in love? No Ryan! You poor man! It must be killing you to see them together.” She hugged him again.
“Yes…it is.” Ryan enjoyed the sympathy hug coming from Mindy. “So what do you think I should do? Should I tell her how I feel?”
“I don’t know Ryan. Are they in love?” Mindy asked concerned.
“Yes…at least I know my friend loves her.” Ryan said. “I don’t know how she feels.”
“Then, I am sorry my friend. I think you should back away.” Mindy told him. “I don’t want to see you hurt anymore. A friendship is not something to ruin…they can last forever. Your love for this woman may just be a passing thing…are you to risk your friendship for it?”
“Yes! I want to risk everything for her! I can’t stop thinking about her, Mindy. I can’t stop dreaming about her.” Ryan took her face in his hands. “You have to understand that I would do anything for her.”
Mindy knew in her heart that he was talking about her. She saw the love in his eyes when he looked at her. But she never let him know. She reached up and cupped his cheek.
“Then you must let her go, Ryan. If you truly want her to be happy, then you must suffer and let her go with the man she loves.” Her beautiful brown eyes filled with tears for the heartache of her friend. She hated that she was the cause of it. “One kiss Mindy, one kiss to last the rest of my life.” Ryan asked. He bent his head and gently touched her lips. “I will love you forever.” He whispered. Mindy pulled away quickly and ran to the door, opening it and moving quickly out to the hall. The door closed automatically behind her with a thud. She stood in shock, to catch her breath and to wipe her tears away.
“My,my,my…the people you see coming out of the oddest rooms when you don’t expect it.” Paul said sarcastically. “What have I missed? Ryan having a little get together that I wasn’t invited to.”
Mindy looked quickly at Paul, surprised to see him there.
“Paul…I…” Mindy started to say.
“No Mindy…we will not have this discussion out in the hall here. Perhaps you’d like to step into my room this time huh?” The words were soft yet sharp. He stepped toward her and touched the small of her back, directing her to his room.
“So Mindy, it’s looks like you caught you another one. Was that your plan? To drive all of us crazy with love? To break us up? Tell me Mindy….what was your plan?” Paul was beyond angry.
“What are you talking about? There is no plan…” Mindy started to say.
“No plan then? Okay…maybe one of your spells gone awry. Perhaps you put a love spell on me…and accidently spelled the other lads too. What? Am I to find young Damian slathering at your feet…begging you to marry him next?” Paul said snidely.
“There is no spell, Paul. I cannot make….” Mindy started again, her tears once again falling down her cheeks. She couldn’t believe that things had gone so wrong, so fast.
“I can’t do this, Mindy. I can’t survive finding you with other men anymore. It’s tearing me up inside just thinking of you with Ryan.” Paul took both arms. “I love you too much to hate you….I don’t want to end up hating you.” He kissed her then, letting her go, and sadly walked out of the room.
Mindy stood and looked at the door. What should she do? Where should she go? Everything was gone. Everything was over. A sadness so deep swelled inside her. Why was she being punished? She didn’t do anything, yet felt like everyone was punishing her. She noticed her old dress, lying on the chair. She suddenly wanted to go home; home where people just tried to kill her physically. Life is much simpler there. She could find a quiet place and help people. She’d lived alone before, she could do it again. Mindy took off the beautiful red dress and slipped on her old gown. She must get her Book of Spells. She left the red dress on the bed and walked out of the room. Heading down the hall, the tears spilled down her cheeks as she walked.
When she reached the room, she knocked softly. Tam opened the door, saw the look of misery on Mindy’s face and cried out. Everyone else came running when they heard Tam.
“What is it? What happened?” Tam asked.
“Nothing…nothing. Listen…I have to get away for a bit.” Mindy walked to her suitcase and rummaged through it for her book. She found it and slipped it into her pocket. “I’m not sure when I’ll be back. Would you do me a huge favor and take care of Captain for me? I mean…I’m sure I’ll be back, but I don’t know when you see. And I don’t want to worry about her. I know that she will be in good hands with you guys. So…I think I’ll take a walk or something.” Mindy started to walk toward the door.
“Mindy! Please…tell what happened! Why are you so upset?” Kristine asked.
“It’s nothing….I’ll see you. Thank you for everything.” Mindy practically ran out the door before she broke down in tears. She hated leaving her friends, but she had to go home. She didn’t want to be in the same century with Paul.
Mindy was blinded by tears when she heard Neil call out to her. She hurried even faster, but he caught up with her, grabbing her shoulder and turning her around.
“Mindy…what’s the matter?” Neil looked at her face, ravaged with tears.
“Hi Neil, my mother is very ill….I need to go home to take care of her. I must hurry before it’s too late. I’m sorry I can’t stay and chat right now.” Mindy started to turn away.
“I’ll be happy to help in any way I can. Let me come with you.” Neil offered.
“No…no…I have a cab waiting…really. I’ll be fine. It was nice to see you Neil. And Neil…would you do me a favor?” Mindy asked. “Would you help look after Bethany…she’s from another country you know and she doesn’t know how to go about. She said she really likes you.”
“Of course…when are you coming back?” Neil asked.
“I’m not sure…when my mother feels better. It may be a long time.” Mindy turned and walked out of the hotel and headed down the street. Neil watched her go. He had a sneaking suspicion that Mindy was not telling the full truth. He started a search for Paul. He found him in the bar, drinking straight whiskey shots.
“So…you and Mindy had a fight I take it.” Neil stated.
“Bugger off, none of your business.” Paul said.
“I believe I told you, if you hurt her I would pound you.” Neil said angrily.
“Me hurt her? What about the other way around. What about what she does to me?” Paul asked Neil…then took another shot of whiskey.
“No offense old buddy, but you look better than she did a minute ago.” Neil told him.
“You saw Mindy a minute ago? Where?” Paul stood up.
“She walked out of the hotel. She had that old dress on again and told me she was going home…to take care of her mother. I thought she didn’t have any family left but she was crying pretty hard. She asked me to take care of her friend Bethany from another country.” Neil explained.
“What? She said she was going home? She wouldn’t…did she have a book in her hand?” Paul grabbed Neil’s arm and led him toward the door.
“She didn’t have anything. She said she had a cab waiting but I saw her walking that way after she left.” Neil pointed down the street the way he saw Mindy go.
Paul started running for the door. Surely she wouldn’t go back to her home in the 1600s. She would wait for him to calm down and they would make up and everything would be roses again. Surely she knew that…didn’t she? He ran faster down the street…calling out her name. The wind started blowing and he heard thunder in the distance. He ran toward an open field….she was standing there, in the middle of the field; her arms held wide. Her dress was plastered to her and her hair blew wildly in the wind.
“Mindy!” Paul yelled. He ran as fast as he could…his heart pounded out of his chest. “Mindy!!! Don’t do it!!”
He was there….he was almost there, when he saw her look at him. Her hand reached out as if to say goodbye; then she just blinked away. In one momentous instant, she was gone.
“No…Mindy…NOOOOOO” Paul yelled as he ran to the spot where he last saw her. The wind stopped. The thunder stopped. Paul looked around at the emptiness around him. Looking down at his feet was the “Book of Spells” it’s pages idly blowing in the soft breeze.

Alright my friends....here is an update I hope you like better. Thanks for all the comments. I love hearing how my story makes you feel...it does make a difference in what I write. Lots of love to you all. ;D
Paul’s hands were deep in his pockets as he walked along the shoreline of the Florida beach. The soft breeze of the ocean kissed his face as he looked out to the horizon toward home. Yes…home was that way; just a few more days and he would be home. The words of a Mickey Coleman song buzzed in his head as he walked.
“Tonight I wish I was in paradise. It’s only there that I can hold you tight. You went and never said goodbye You left these broken hearts behind They say tomorrow brings a brighter day. But I miss you more than words can say. Why did you have to leave this way? Can’t mend this broken heart.”
He often relived that day; the worst day of his life. The day his heart splintered into a million pieces as he watched the only woman he would ever love disappear before his eyes. The grief had been too much. His legs fell out from under him and he collapsed to the ground holding on to the last proof that she hadn’t been a dream; the “Book of Spells”. He hated that book. It was the instrument that took Mindy away, yet he carried it with him from city to city….venue to venue; the only reminder of his Mindy.
Two people watched Paul from a hotel balcony.
“So…do you think he’s ready then?” Keith asked Damian.
“I think he’s grieved long enough.” Damian answered.
“Then I should call Tam and see if she’s cooled down enough to do it.” Keith said.
“She better be; I don’t know how long Paul can go on like this. He’s a slobbery mess.” Damian answered.
“Agreed. He hasn’t eaten for 2 months…and his hair! Without a trim, he looks like some crazy street person. I’ll give Tam a ring and sweet talk her.” Keith said. “I hope everything is in place on the plan.”
“Meagan told me last night that all is ready to go. The only thing left is Paul.” Damian said.
“Okay…time to use a little Irish charm on a sweet little witch.” Keith smiled and pulled out his cell phone.
“Hello…darling!” He smiled into the phone. “What do you mean? I’m feelin a wee bit hurt here, sweetums. How you feeling? Are you up for a wee bit of magic? Well of course he’s still hurtin….he looks like heck! I think he’s starving himself to death. Yes…I think so too. You will? Tam, my love…you’re a gem! Okay. Yes…give me a ring when your flight comes in…yes….I’ll see what I can do about that, love. See you then. Bye.” Keith hung up the phone and smiled at Damian. “They are all on their way! The whole gang is coming!” Keith smiled and slapped Damian on the back.
“Yeah….but is he ready?” Damian gestured with his head toward the lonely figure walking along the beach…hands in his pockets.
“Well, he’s the pivotal part of the plan! Course…there’s always Ryan if he refuses.” Keith said.
“I guess we’ll see when they get here.” The lads moved into the room.
Paul leaned back against the pillows and clicked through the channels on the television; another night of nothing on the tube. He clicked the TV off and threw the remote on the bed. He would sleep…but it was only 8:30. Paul curled on his side, grabbed the ever present “Book of Spells”, hugged it to his chest, and closed his eyes. Pictures….memories flashed through his head. Mindy sitting on the bus…her hair down…Mindy sitting in the audience…her eyes wide, smiling and clapping….Mindy…on the beach…her face in the moonlight. She wouldn’t go away…she wouldn’t leave him alone. Sometimes he even talked to her like she was there in the room….was he going insane? Yes…he was sure that they would be fitting him with a straitjacket soon. Yes….he was crushed. The stillness of the room was shattered by the phone. His first inclination was to not answer it, but what the heck. He was doing nothing.
“Hello.” He answered.
“Paul! We need you to come to Keith’s room….right now.” It was Damian.
“What’s up?” Paul asked.
“We kinda need you to do something for us. Can you come right now?” Damian asked him. “Please Paul, it’s important.”
“OK… yeah…sure…I’m not doing anything anyway.” Paul hung up the phone.
He knocked on Keith’s door and it was opened immediately by Damian.
“What’s up puppy?” Paul walked in the room before he noticed the crowd there. All four of the lads minus George, who flew home early to be with his family, Meagan, Kristine, and two women he’d never seen before, were crowded into the small room. Paul’s heart skipped a beat as he automatically looked for Mindy with the girls. But of course she was not there…she was in a million pieces….she was back in time….she was dead now.
“Well…what’s this? Someone having a party and forgot to invite me until the last minute?” Paul said. “Hello girls…how are you doing and what are you doing here?”
“Wow Paul…you look like crap!” Meagan said.
“Thank you Meagan…I’ll just leave and go clean up.” Paul turned to leave but Keith and Damian barred his way.
“Okay…listen up Paul. I know how bad you’re hurting…and quite frankly; you deserve every bit of hurt that you’re feeling, you big jerk. But we need you to make up for what you did to Mindy.” Tam said as she walked toward Paul. “Tell me right now…do you still love Mindy…and do you want to help save her?”
“Save her? What are you talking about?” Paul looked confused. “Mindy is gone…she went back to…well…she went back home.”
“Save it Byrom…everyone in this room knows the whole story, including Ryan’s part in it.” Tam gave Ryan an evil look that made him back up a few steps. “If I didn’t love Celtic Thunder so much…I would have turned you both into hairy toads for being such stupid, idiotic morons. You’re both lucky that I’m so forgiving and have calmed down.”
“Before you turn us into hairy toads, my dear; perhaps you’d like to tell me who you are and what you have to do with anything?” Paul said icily. Tam’s eyes lit up and took a step towards Paul; her hands coming up flying up in the air in a menacing way.
“Ahh my sweet…we are so grateful of your compassion.” Keith interjected as he moved behind Tam and wrapped her in his arms, hugging her to him in a lovingly way. “Paul…I’d like to introduce you to Tam; Mindy’s friend and my sweet, caring, gentle, and loving girlfriend. Tam…you of course know Paul. The man who is grieving and doesn’t know what he’s saying…the man who’s learned his lesson and will be polite and courteous to a powerful witch who is going to save him.” Keith said this last bit very loudly and slowly to get through to Paul that he had to behave.
“I see… we have another witch in our midst. Great…just great. I believe I’ve had enough of witches to last a lifetime. I’m going back to my room now. It was very nice to meet all of you.” Paul turned toward the door to leave but was cut off by a beautiful dark haired woman with green, cat eyes. She threw herself at Paul and wrapped her arms around him.
“Please! Please Paul, I beg of you. Please save my Mindy and bring her back. Only you can save her!” The girl in his arms cried and pushed her face into his shoulder, clinging to him like he was her last hope.
“Paul, I would like to introduce you to Mindy’s cat, Captain…or Bethany as she is now called.” Neil told him. “Come my dear. It’s going to be okay, love.” He pulled the crying girl from Paul’s arms and wrapped her up in his own, making soothing little noises in the woman’s hair as they walked away.
Paul watched the pair move away and looked around the room. Everyone stared at him.
“What the heck is going on here? What is it you want of me because, let me tell you, I am now holding onto my sanity by a mere thread here.” Paul sat on the bed and steeled himself.
“The night that Mindy left, Meagan got online and started a google search, to see if she could find out where Mindy went and what happened to her. She found her in an old Boston newspaper. There was a small article that describes a church fire in the small town of New Hope, Massachusetts on January 17, 1690. There was one casualty…Melinda Kinney was found dead at the altar.” Kristine started to explain. “We got together, all of us…while you were holed up in your room. We have a plan to save her and maybe bring her back to us. If you’re willing, Paul, we think you are the best one to go back and get her.”
“So let me get this straight. You want me to go back and save Mindy and bring her back here? Is this even a possibility?” Paul asked Kristine incredulously.
“More than a possibility, but it’s very risky. I can send you back but you may not be able to return. Mindy is a very powerful witch, but she has no control over it. She may not be able to send you back here again. You may be hurt or killed back in that time. You may not be able to change history and Mindy will be killed anyway. What I’m trying to tell you is; you may not be able to get back, Paul. If you decide to do this, you have to understand that.” Tam explained.
“You don’t have to go, Paul. If you don’t want to...I’ll go and save her.” Ryan said.
“Ryan can go…but it would be much harder to send him. I need that connection…that connection that you and Mindy have…to confidently send someone back. With Ryan it would be iffy at best.” Tam told him.
“Please think about it Paul. We want her back, we miss her so much!” Meagan kneeled in front of Paul and grabbed his hand. “I know you love and miss her too. It’s a lot to ask of you, I know. Could you just think about it?”
Paul looked around at all the expectant faces. Did he have any choice? No…he didn’t. He couldn’t live like this any longer, a mere shell of a man. There was a chance…a chance to see and hold Mindy again. He had to take it no matter what.
“Okay…I’m in. So tell me…what do I have to do?” Paul said. There was a shout of relief and happiness in the room.
“Well…here’s the plan.” Tam began.

Thank you CB for being so sweet!!! Here is another update for you! Hope you like how the story is going everybody. Let me know what you think.
A box was brought out and placed on one of the beds.
“We have been working on this problem for the last few months and collected some items we think you will need to take with you. First…your clothes.” Kristine explained. She pulled out a folded outfit that looked to be a pair of trousers that buttoned at the knee, a long white cotton shirt, open at the neck, a waistcoat to go over it , and a jacket to wear over both. There was a neckcloth to tie around his neck and a pair of white stockings, an old pair of boots, and a tri cornered hat to finish the ensemble.
“We found some coins on ebay and coin shops that you can use if necessary, but we are uncertain how much everything is there, so be very careful. We believe that most people bartered for food in that time period. Perhaps you should carry your valuables in a pouch inside your shirt. Meagan found this sack you can carry over your shoulder to carry other things like food and such.” Kristine pulled out an old bag.
“It’s dangerous times back then, and you wouldn’t do well with an old pistol. So we found you, this dagger that you may use for protection.” Tam took out an old sheath and pulled out a 20 inch lethal looking blade.
“Be careful with that…it’s very sharp.” Meagan stated. The men all passed it around taking turns pulling it out and pretend fighting with it.
“Remember Paul, you stab someone with this…there is going to be blood. So don’t faint.” Damian said sarcastically.
“Don’t worry. I don’t plan on using that unless I absolutely have to. I’m not much into murder if I can talk my way out of it.” Paul told him.
“Each of us has also written a letter to Mindy to try to persuade her to come back with you. You will find these in the knapsack. You may want to write your own letter and add it to the packet.” Tam explained. “Now…the moon is full tomorrow night, so that will be the best time to send you back. I believe it to be around 2:00 a.m. so let’s all meet for dinner tomorrow night and go over all the details. Paul…I want you to take the night and think this decision over carefully. No one in this room would blame you if you decided not to go back. It’s going to be dangerous…you may not come back.”
At Paul’s nod, everyone started to leave the room.
“Do you mind if I take these and try them on, just to see if they fit?” Paul asked.
“Of course…take the whole box with you.” Kristine she hugged Paul to her. “I can’t thank you enough for doing this, Paul.”
“I may not be able to do anything, Kristine. It may not be possible to change history. Have you thought of that?” Paul asked the girls.
“Yes, of course. We’re hoping you can convince her to come back with you, first. I want Mindy back here with us, but if she doesn’t want to come back, I want her to have a full happy life with a husband and children not dead in some church.” Tam said. “Either way, we know that you will do your very best to save her.”
“And Paul,” Meagan added, “I’m sorry about the “looking like crap” remark, but maybe it’s for the best. In my research, I found out that people didn’t take baths back then because they thought it was unhealthy. You look like you will fit in nicely.”
“Hey! I take a bath!” Paul argued. “I just haven’t seen a barber in awhile and I don’t feel like shaving. I’ll shave tonight.”
“No don’t!” Meagan suggested. “Most men back in that time wore beards. Without the beard you’ll stand out like a sore thumb. Keep the beard and hair…trust me, it will help you fade in.”
“I feel like a spy on a secret mission or something.” Paul laughed.
“You are, in a way.” Tam replied, “Your mission is to save Mindy, and not let anyone know you are from the future.”
Paul returned to his room and called his family. He explained that he was going on a trip to the interior of Africa, and wouldn’t be able to reach them or they to reach him for a few months. He then sat and wrote them all letters, just in case he didn’t come back. He would give these to Ryan to give to his family, just in case. He decided not to write a letter to Mindy. There was so much to say, too much he wanted to tell her. He would wait until he saw her again. He began to daydream. He would see her…she would see him. She would smile, of course, and run toward him. They would fall into each other’s arms. He would tell her how much he loved her and how sorry he was for the things he said. And Mindy…Mindy would be so happy. She would throw her arms around him and tell him how much she loved him too. Then she would zap them both home where they would be married and live happily ever after. Paul smiled at his daydream. He looked down at the “Book of Spells” that sat on the desk. He picked up the book and hugged it to him. “Soon my love; I will be with you soon.” He got up to ready himself for bed. Tomorrow was the beginning of the rest of his life.
He spent the better part of the next day getting ready for his trip. He went to the mall and bought presents for Mindy that would help him persuade her to return with him. A small Woody doll so she would remember the movie they saw; a carousel music box to remind her of their trip to the zoo; a book of herbal medicine since she loved books. He even visited the hospital and borrowed a stethoscope from the ER, to remind her of their visit to the hospital when she cut her hand. OK…so maybe he stole it, but it was for a good cause, he reasoned. When he got back to the room, he packed the knapsack carefully with all the things he bought, the red dress she loved, her “Book of Spells”, and Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, the world’s most perfect candy bar. He also packed the letters that everyone had written for her. In a velvet pouch he’d picked up at the mall, he put the diamond engagement ring and the money that the girls had given him for his trip. He knotted a string around it so he could wear it around his neck and under his clothing. It was almost supper time when he finally donned his new clothes. He looked in the mirror and thought he looked quite dapper in his new attire. He especially liked the tricorn hat. He took a last look around the room. His bag was packed up tight….ready for Ryan to pick up and store for him. He felt a small pang of homesickness….this was the beginning of a new era for him; a life with Mindy.
He whistled as he headed down to meet the rest of the gang in the dining room in his new duds. Several people looked at him warily, but he just smiled at them, tipped his new tricorn hat, and wished them a good evening. Nothing was going to shake his good mood.
The gang was waiting for him in a room that was separate from the rest of the restaurant. When he entered, he smiled and bowed to all of them.
“How do you fair, my friends?” He asked. Everyone turned to stare, then mayhem broke out as everyone surrounded him to comment.
“I can’t believe it! He looks very authentic!” Meagan announced.
“Wow, old man! I barely recognized you!” Damian said as he walked around Paul.
“So…what do you think?” Paul asked Tam. “Will I do?”
“Yes.” Tam nodded. “Yes..Paul, I think you’ll do just fine.”
“Good…so I’m going for a steak tonight, since this might be the last real meal in awhile.” Paul sat down at the table.
“Uh…Paul? Yeah…I also thought I better warn you about the food also.” Meagan started. “Back in those days they didn’t have refrigeration and food safety knowledge..so you better be careful of what you eat; food poisoning was common you know. You might want to stick to fruits and vegetables. Unless you see them kill the animal and cook it right away that is.”
“And once again…Meagan has outdone herself in research. Thank you for that info, kid. Any more bit of research I should know?” Paul asked her.
“Well…there is the fact that most Irish in that time are indentured servants and not well liked.” Meagan replied.
“Wonderful!!!” Paul said sarcastically. “Well now I will have to speak like an American!” He spoke with an American accent that sounded pretty good and made everyone laugh.
“It’s good to see you in a good mood again, Paul.” Damian remarked. “I have to say, I was a wee bit worried about you.”
“Thank you, Damo. I was a wee bit worried about myself. But now I have hope and a plan and friends to help me get to Mindy. What more can a man ask for?” Paul replied.
“How about a nice juicy steak!” Captain replied loudly. Everyone laughed and sat to enjoy Paul’s last night with them for awhile. All were confident that everything would work out and both Paul and Mindy would be with them soon.
Tam decided that the beach would be the best place to send Paul back. Paul stood in the middle of the circle of friends, the “Book of Spells” in his hand. To say he was nervous was an understatement. He was terrified but refused to show it to his friends. Tam raised her hands to the sky.
“Now, Paul. Just picture Mindy in your head.” Tam told Paul. “You need to hold the book tightly and concentrate on your love for Mindy. Okay? Are you ready?” At Paul’s nod, she began the spell.
“Mother Earth, we call to you.” Tam began. Paul felt a shiver as Tam began the spell…the air around him seemed charged with electricity and there was a buzzing in his ears. He closed his eyes, held the book tightly and concentrated on Mindy. The buzzing grew louder and if a million bees were in his head. Still he concentrated on Mindy’s face. He felt a lightness of his body, then the buzzing stopped.
He opened his eyes and he was no longer on the beach but in the middle of a small cemetery on top of a hill. At first he panicked thinking he was too late. He bent down to read the small cross that marked the grave that he stood on. “Esmeralda Kinney” was the name on it. “Mindy’s grandmother perhaps.” Paul thought to himself. Of course, the “Book of Spells” was originally hers. Perhaps the spell brought him to her grave instead of Mindy. Not knowing which way to walk, he reasoned that the cemetery would be in close vicinity to Mindy’s burnt down cabin and possibly to Mindy. One way was as good as another! He began his trek by walking towards the wooded area to the east of the hill. At the bottom of the hill he caught the whiff of woodsmoke in the air. He followed the scent to a grassy area where the shell of a cabin stood. The fireplace still intact but the rest in rubble; Mindy’s burnt cabin. Paul felt the rage and anger build up inside of him at the cruelty of the act. He decided that this would be a good place to lie down and rest…then get started looking for Mindy in the morning. He found a fir tree and lay down under it; he used his knapsack for a pillow. He promptly fell asleep with hopes and dreams of seeing Mindy the next day.

Hey all...thanks for your patience!!!! But here it is...another update. Hope you all like it! Let me know what you think! Paul opened his eyes to a clear, crisp morning. The burnt out shell of what once was a cabin loomed like a black scar in the forest that was almost bare of leaves. Paul surveyed his surroundings wondering which way to go. While brushing off the needles from his clothes, he heard a slight gasp. Turning toward the noise, he noticed a small girl, holding a basket. She was dressed very much like Mindy was when he first met her. “Good day, miss.” Paul bowed slightly as to not scare the girl.
“Good day, sir” She curtsied. “I am looking for Mindy. Do you know her or have you seen her?” Paul asked her.
“Why do thy seek Mistress Mindy? Are thy ill sir?” The girl asked.
“No…not ill. I have something of her grandmother’s that I need to return to her.” Paul explained. “Do you know where I can find her?”
“I have not seen Mistress Mindy for a very long time. But my friend Sybil may have heard from her. They were friends before the troubles.” The girl said. “I could take thee to her.”
“I would very much appreciate that. My name is Paul, by the way; and your name?” Paul asked.
“Brittany, sir.” The girl replied shyly.
“Well…it’s nice to meet you Brittany and thank you for helping me.” Paul smiled at the girl and began to follow her through the woods. She stopped on a hill that overlooked the village. It was a scene right out of a history page. Small cottage-like houses lined a street. At the end of the street was a church. People walked around busily. A group of men stood near the church in deep discussion.
“There.” Brittany pointed. “The third house on the left is the Wilcox home. It is where thou shall find Sybil, Mindy’s friend. Thou must be very careful, Paul. There is evil in that town.”
“What do you mean…?” Paul turned to ask Brittany what she meant, but the girl disappeared from sight. He looked around, wondering where she went but couldn’t see her anywhere. Shaking his head, he headed down to the village.
People turned and stared as Paul walked into the village and headed to the third house on the left. Strangers were rare in the small village so a new face brought whispers behind hands and heads peeking out windows. Paul pretended not to notice as he knocked on the door of the small house. The door cracked open and a woman’s face peered out.
“May I help you, friend?” The lady said.
“Yes mam. Is Sybil home?” Paul said to the woman.
“Sybil? And what business does thee have with Sybil?” The woman asked.
“I must ask her about a mutual friend.” Paul explained.
“A mutual friend? Who would that be?” The woman asked.
“A woman by the name of Mindy; I believe they are friends.” Paul said.
“I am sorry. Thou has the wrong house sir. Our Sybil knows no one by that name.” The door slammed in Paul’s face. The determined Paul pounded on the door again and kept it up until the door opened again. This time, a stern looking man answered the door.
“Sir! Thou must leave! My wife has told thee the truth! No one in this house knows of this woman of who thou speaks.” The man said crossly.
“I will hear it from Sybil’s mouth herself. Brittany told me that she is friends with Mindy, and I mean to talk to her. Now please go and get her so I can speak to her, then I will be on my way.” Paul stubbornly stood in the doorway, his foot blocked the door from closing and his hand held the door open.
“Thou is not welcome in this house!” The man yelled. “Leave now!”
“Not until I talk to Sybil.” Paul said stubbornly.
The man seemed to think about it. Then resigned, he turned to his wife.
“Go and tell Sybil to come down.” The man ordered his wife. The woman bowed her head and went upstairs. A few minutes later, the wife and a young woman came down the stairs. They walked over to the door where Paul waited.
“Thou wished to speak to me sir?” The young woman asked.
“Sybil…how do you do? My name is Paul. I would like to know if you have seen Mindy in the past couple of months. I have come a long way to find her. She could be in danger and I have come to protect her. Can you tell me…have you seen her?” Paul asked the young woman.
“I am sorry sir. I know of no woman by that name.” The woman answered softly looking down at the floor.
“I’m sorry, but I believe you are lying. A young woman by the name of Brittany pointed out your house and told me to ask you. She said that you were friends.” Paul said sternly. “Mindy had a cabin in the woods that was burnt down. She was accused of being a witch and was almost drowned. Do you remember her now?”
At her silence, Paul grabbed the woman by the shoulders.
“Please! Her life is at stake here. I have to find her before it is too late! If you know anything you must tell me.” Paul yelled at the girl. Paul could hear her father protesting and pulling on his arm. Then there was a sharp pain in the back of his head, and everything went black. Paul woke up with a sore head in blackness. He groaned and rubbed the back of his head. Where was he?
“I warned you of the evil.” The soft voice whispered through the darkness.
“Brittany?” Paul tried to see her through the darkness. “Where are you? Where am I?”
“The malevolence comes…beware his righteous tongue for he means maliciousness.” He heard her whisper next to his ear. Paul turned in the direction but the sudden opening of the door immediately caught his attention. Two men walked into the old shed that held Paul. One carried a lantern. Paul squinted against the unaccustomed light. He looked around for Brittany, but there was no one in the shed beside himself. A large man moved into the shed between the two. “He’s an ugly cuss” thought Paul when he saw the excessive warts that covered the man’s face.
“So….thou searches for the witch.” The man growled. “Has thou seen her lately then?”
“Who the heck are you?” Paul asked. The man closest to him, kicked him in the side, causing to Paul to groan.
“This is the Reverend Sweeney…a holy man.” The man snarled.
“Ah…I see…the toad himself. I would say that it’s very nice to make your acquaintance, but I’m afraid I would be lying. I would rather beat you to a bloody pulp for what you did to Mindy.” Paul sneered at the man.
“I see thee is under the witches spell. You see…I was once under her spell too. But since she disappeared, I have returned to sanity. You will too, my friend. You will too. But for now, I have been looking for the witch. Her and I have some unsettled business. When and where did you see her last?” The Reverend asked.
“It’s been months. That’s why I’ve been looking for her. Sorry I can’t help…friend.” Paul said the last word snidely.
“Ahhhh…..perhaps a bit of time in the pillary will loosen thy tongue.” The Reverend suggested. The two men that stood with him snickered. Each grabbed an arm and lifted Paul up, dragging him outside and up the road to the church. There stood a block of wood with three holes. The Reverend opened the block of wood on one side. They placed Paul’s head in the middle hole and each hand in the two outer holes. The top of the block of wood was slammed down and locked on one end. Paul already could feel the strain on his back.
“Maybe thou can spend this time to think about thy answers…friend.” The Reverend sneered. The two men laughed and all three walked away.
“Oh WONDERFUL!” Paul said to himself sarcastically. “Just WONDERFUL!” “If you think this is going to get me to talk…you’re crazy!” Paul yelled at the retreating men. “Do you hear me?” His mind started working. How was he going to get out of this fix? He remembered once when he was young and wanted to drive his sister crazy, he would sing a song, over and over and over again. Well maybe if he sang loud and long enough, someone would come and let him out. He thought of the most annoying song he could think of and started to sing.
“I’m Henry the Eighth, I am…Henry the Eighth, I am, I am. I got married to the widow next door…she’s been married seven times before and every one was a Heneree….Heneree! She wouldn’t have a Willy or a Sam…NO SAM! I’m her eighth old man, I’m Henry…Henry the Eighth, I am. Second verse…same as the first……
Paul sang and sang and sang the song over and over. People came out of their cottages and yelled at him…several threw food at him. Some even kicked him, pinched him, and called him names. Still, Paul kept on singing….all night long. The Reverend watched closely from the shadows, waiting for what he knew would happen soon.
Close to dawn, Paul’s voice finally gave out. His mouth was dry, his back was killing him, and he was cold. There was not another note in his body.
“Well, that worked like a dog with two legs.” Paul thought.
It was near dawn when he heard a noise.
“Sir…sir…are you awake?” A voice whispered.
“Who’s there?” Paul croaked.
“It’s me…Sybil.” The voice said. “I am so sorry sir! This is all my fault!”
“Yeah…I have to agree with you there.” Paul croaked out an agreement.
“I have come to save thee sir.” Paul heard the keys jingle in the lock. He turned his head to see to watch the lock being opened.
“She went to Boston..sir. I am very sorry but I could not tell thee before this.” She lifted the board and Paul fell backward with an umph. “I would have been punished severely if my parents found out I had helped Mindy. Please understand…I couldn’t tell thee in front of them.” Sybil handed Paul a bag.
“There is some food and water in there.” She handed him a bag. “Take them and run…head south and east…hurry…before they wake up and catch you.” She helped Paul up. He groaned as he tried to straighten his back again.
“Thank you.” Paul whispered. He turned and ran into the woods in a crouch…holding his back as he ran.
From the shadows, the Reverend smiled. Finally! He watched the girl run back to her house. She didn’t matter…he would take care of her later. It was the man that he wanted. “Yes…yes…run to her…my friend.” He whispered evilly. “And you shall lead me right to her.”
