this is the first update, and when i finish the rest of the second, i'll post that. comp overheated so i couldnt A few months later…
Paul gasped as a sharp pain lanced through his skull.
It is time, he thought, dreading the feeling. He knew what would happen—why couldn’t he stop anything? What sort of gift was it to know the future if you could not do anything to help those you loved? His eyes stinging, he dematerialized to her side.
“Paul!” she gasped, leaning heavily on his arm, her eyes wide. He held her to his chest for a moment, and then, swinging her into his arms, ran as fast as he could to Marcus.
The young vampire was nowhere to be seen, but a sense of his power was in the air.
“Marcus!” yelled Paul, his eyes blazing a bright blue color, illuminating the dim room.
“There’s nothing you can do, Black,” whispered the soft baritone voice around him. After a moment, the vampire appeared before him, his pale eyes glowing in the moonlight. “Here—let me take her. Go far, go forward, but no matter what, do not go back in time. There is nothing you can do to save her, understand that.”
Paul snarled. “There has to be!” he roared, his fangs sliding out, his energy crackling the air around him. The small candles on the table turned into huge torches that almost reached the ceiling, and thunder rolled outside, lightning flashing. “There has to be!” he repeated, his anger and despair so obvious even she could feel it, along with confusion.
“Paul?” she asked tentatively as she realized what they were talking about. “What’s wrong?”
“I won't let you go,” he said quietly, his bright eyes radiant. When Marcus reached out to take her from him, he growled low in his throat, and the wind howled outside. Thunder crashed while rain poured down, flooding the streets below.
A sudden pain raked her, and she gasped as something bright flashed before her eyes. “Paul…what is that?”
Immediately he stilled. His face turned white as he looked at her with absolute horror.
“No!” he croaked, his voice clenching. “No, he can't take her! He can't!”
Marcus gently laid a hand on his shoulder. “I’m afraid he can, Black. There’s nothing you can do. Just let her go, or he will curse you worse than you can ever imagine.”
Paul whipped his head about, anger rolling off of him in waves.
“What can be worse than this?” he asked, his voice so low she could barely hear him.
“Believe me, lad, he will find a way that would haunt you to the point where you would rather take yourself out than live with it. Let her go.” The final words were a command, but Paul pulled her closer.
Again, the same pain came, and this time she could see that the flash was a sort of shape…like a…skeleton? And then another flash followed, and this time, the bony hands reached for her. She screamed, vaguely feeling Paul pull her even closer, if that was even possible.
“Let her go!” yelled Marcus above the wind. “Let him take her!”
And then she felt Paul grip her even harder before she lost consciousness.

Paul sat there on the smooth wooden floor where she had been, feeling absolutely nothing. He had lost the one person in his life that more than anything to him.
“Here,” murmured Marcus softly, offering a glass of whiskey. “He will make you pay for that, Black; you refused to give her up—it won't do you any good.”
“He still got her,” replied Paul flatly, no emotion in his voice at all.
“There is a reason he’s called Reaper.”
“I thought it was Shadow?”
“Well, there are a few names, the most popular being Reaper because he can take anyone no matter where they are, even if they time-travel. He has been called Shadow because he appears as one in the day, and Altair since he can appears as a bright flash, like a star, in dreams, especially at night. I think that’s what she saw, the bright star-like flash. He has been called many other things, but those are the most famous versions. But no matter what,” he finished, “no one can hide from him. Not even you, Paul.”
Paul looked at him in surprise. “That’s the first time you’ve used my name,” he said softly.
Marcus looked back at him. “What do you prefer?”
He thought for a moment. “Black. I have no reason to remain Paul now that they are both gone.”
Marcus raised an eyebrow at the suddenly determined tone in his friend’s voice.
“Very well. Black it is.”
“Well, isn’t this nice?” came a cackle from the doorway. “Black is the color of my true love’s hair, eh? Well, now it’s your name. Fitting; she does have beautiful black hair, by the way, just as will they all in the future. BLACK.”
Before they even turned around, they could tell who it was that just came.

sorry its short Power radiated from the vampire, making the air literally crackle and spark. He had to be at least 10,000 years old to do that, and judging by the sparkling electrical glow around him, he was well over that. A slight smile was on his lips, giving him a menacing air. Short black hair was laid out perfectly: the front shock spiked up and backwards, frozen in a jet-black sweep. In the back, it was hidden under the high collar, and it was cut close to dip just in front of his ears before leaving them open. (Think about the hairdo for that guy in black from the movie Ghost Rider—I was basing Reaper on him.) Dressed in black from head to toe as were most of them, he glowed with that bluish light that set him apart from the rest.
“What do you mean, ‘just as will they all in the future’? What are you planning?” asked Marcus, his voice hard and cautious, willing Black not to say a word.
Reaper smiled again, sharp fangs visible in the deathly grin. “Oh, you should know very well, Marcus. After all, you told him yourself that he would have to pay for what he did, and pay he will, starting with the next generation. He will want to do anything just so that he will not have to live the nightmare over and over and over again, but he cannot kill himself; no, I’m sorry, Black, but you made the mistake of your life by not letting me have her. And now, please sit back and enjoy the show; you can’t go back in time to change it, and the choreographer is yours truly,” he finished, gesturing towards himself. “Any questions before we begin?” he asked, ever the tour guide.
Black snarled, lunging forward, but Reaper just flicked his hand and froze him in his tracks. With a gasp, Black looked around himself, moving his eyes since that was all that he could move.
Reaper smiled. “Now do I have your attention? Now, since there are no questions, I bid you farewell. And don’t even try finding her, or me, for that matter; it will only harm her even more.” And with that, he disappeared in a clash of lightning, leaving behind a burning smell and a drastic cold in the room.
Black collapsed on the ground from the leap he had been caught in mid-air in. Sitting there for a moment, digesting the information, he then leaned back against Marcus, who had come up behind him, and just buried his head in his hands. Marcus wrapped his arm around Black’s shoulders and pulled him against his side, letting the young vampire struggle against reality, wishing himself anywhere except this one place in the world.

huh, turns out i had an update for months now but forgot to post it “Get up, Black.” Black flicked his eyes open, fangs already fully extended as he sat up from the light sleep he had been in. Over the past few weeks, he had barely had any time to do so, and it showed in his sharp temper and glowing eyes. Growling low in his throat, he turned to face the vampire. “What do you want, Dullahan?” he snapped, watching him. “We heard about what happened and wanted to help, against our better sense. Even—“ “’We’?” asked Black, glancing around. Sure enough, a shadow detached itself from the others in the corner and walked forward, revealing Dunkan. The old Celtic vampire slid forward with lethal grace, his dark eyes catching every detail. “Yes, we. You’ve let down your guard too much, Black—I could have easily taken you right there, and you would have absolutely no power over it.” He sneered, revealing long, glistening fangs. “Be grateful I already had a meal tonight.” “Anyway, as I was saying,” continued Dullahan, trying to ease the tension in the atmosphere. “We want to help, but to do that, we need you to be fully into this and realize that, if we do not succeed and it is…too late…that you won't do anything on your own. This guy is incredibly powerful, more powerful than all of us put together. Add Marcus and Luc, and he will still be stronger. You do this alone, you’re toast. If we do this together, we at least have a chance, although a really miniscule one.” Black looked around the small group, thinking. Suddenly, Luc walked in, his gold eyes flashing as he licked his lips. “Sorry, guys; got a bit hungry on the way. So, did you tell him?” Dullahan rolled his eyes while Dunkan let out a low growl that could mean anything from laughter to “You are so dead next time I see you alone.” “I take that as a yes,” concluded Luc, taking a step away from the shadow-vampire. Turning to Black, he gave him a tight smile. “So, do you want to get her back or not?” The determination radiated in the air as Black’s eyes flashed like Luc’s had. “What do you think, Gold-eyes? You think that lightning bolt has a right to take her away from me?” he snapped, stiffening and advancing rapidly. Dullahan jumped in to grab him, but that was about as helpful as a pebble trying to stop a charging bull. Dunkan materialized a few inches in front of the furious vampire and solidified, not letting him through; in a matter of seconds, he had wrapped himself around Black, his rock-like form not letting Black so much as twitch. “Calm down, Black!” exclaimed Dullahan, jogging up to him. “Dunkan…I so wish I had that power; it could come in very handy.” A face appeared in the shadowy mass gripping Black. “Dream on, Headless Horse-boy,” he snickered, grinning evilly. “Will…you…let…me…go…” ground out Black; his voice could have frozen stone. After he made no attempt to do anything else, Dunkan slowly let him go, standing between him and Luc. “Black, you have to cooperate if you want this to work. No fighting, no provoking, no needling,” he said with a meaningful glare at the golden-eyed vampire, “or I will kill you, or whoever is involved, personally, and then ask for an explanation. Understood?” he growled, his low voice offering to way around. When all three vampires nodded, he flashed a chilling smile and materialized across the room. “Good. Now, shall we continue?” * * *
