~~~~~~ HERE'S THE NEXT UPDATE~~~~~
Declan called Rachelle and Colm into the cabin for a few minutes so that he and George could explain the complicated situation to them.
They took it all in stride, then Declan asked, "Do either of you know where the blond surfer dude is?"
"He is out being a loner and lazing about outside," Rachelle said rolling her eyes a bit, "He can't seem to stay in one place for more then a few minutes.
Declan overheard here muttering, "He can't even keep still when asleep...."with an amused grin Declan headed out the door of the plane.
He found Keith slouching against the side of the plane. With his head back and his blond hair blowing into his face with the slight breeze he seemed to be asleep.
Declan cleared his throat nervously and Keith yawned and opened his eyes lazily.
"I want to ask ye about a certain missin necklace that we were informed you were last seen with," Declan said getting right to the point.
He felt really nervous especially as most of the accusation had just been made up at a spur of a moment.
Declan almost fell over backward when Keith replied, "Well I am allowed ta be takin me own necklace back ye know."
Collecting his wits Declan said, "Iffin ye would come with me the captain would like ta ask ye a few questions right now."
Declan walked nervously back onto the plane while Keith sauntered nonchalantly in after.
A few of the passengers gave them curious looks as Declan ushered Keith into the cockpit and shut the battered door as well as he could manage.
"Now lad," George said with a sigh as he rubbed his head nervously, he was tired of all of this bother and worry of a few expensive items when he had a job of getting his passengers and crew to the safety of civilization, "Please explain why ye took the necklace."
"It is a family heirloom, I take it with me fer personal reasons," Keith said cockily.
"Ya are not the type that I see havin that type of money," Declan said suspiciously, "And what personal reasons?"
"I took it off me Da's hands last time we were visitin Canada," Keith said, "It was me mum's an I plan on givin it ta the girl who I am goin ta marry."
"Why not just leave it with yer Da?" George asked, "An who is this luck girl?"
"Me family an I are not on the best of terms," Keith said shuffling around nervously, "An I have na quite met the girl yet, I am still inspectin me options."
George gave a look of sympathy at the family part and Declan just snorted at the inspectin bit.
Sighing and leaning back in his chair George said, "I suppose right now I will have ta accept yer explanations. Pleas just try ta keep it low, I do not need anything more ta worry about right now."
Keith nodded and turned to leave a suspicious scuffling was heard outside of the door and George and Declan realized that they just had an eavesdropper.
"Just one more complication," Declan said with a sigh.
Keith walked out oblivious to the comment, with no one hanging out directly near the door as he looked out Declan tried to deduce who might have been listening in.
He instantly ruled out any of the people nearer to the back of the plane, these included Amy, Liss, Emmet, Sharon and the kids, Rachelle and her sister, and Colm.
The ones near the front of the plane who seemed most likely to have been the one, at least as far as Declan could tell, were Paul or Linda.
Both seemed too curious about things for their own good.
Mary walked onto the plane just then, Keith bumped into her which caused her to almost fall.
Catching her Keith muttered an apology and tried to help her smooth her outfit, Mary pushed his hands away and glared at him before flouncing off to join Liss an Amy in their seat.
Declan smiled a bit, but hoped that tension on the plane would calm down a bit or they might have major issues before their rescue arrived.
Emmet had just finished with Amy, Mary smiled sweetly at him as he walked over to join Neil in a discussion about the health benefits of coffee.
"You'll never guess what I heard when I was outside just now," Mary whispered a bit breathlessly.
"Don't tell me your halo slipped off again," Amy said with a wink.
Mary rolled her eyes and said, "No I was listening to a conversation in the cockpit."
"Being sneaky again," Liss said with a grin, "How did you manage to hear anything?"
"That is my secret," Mary said with a grin, "Anyway, I think Beach boy over there comes from big money."
"What makes you say that?" asked Liss.
Both she and Amy listened intently as Mary explained the conversation she had overheard.
Here's the next part! Enjoy! Amy had a glint in her eye. Liss was all too familiar with this particular glint. As was Mary. “What?” Liss whispered harshly to Amy. “Nothing!” Amy insisted, looking around so as not to be overheard. “I was just thinking... That orphanage could use a new well too ya know? What if.... say... I dunno... One of you were to seduce surfer boy over there and get your hands on some of that money.” “NO WAY!” Mary yelled, angrily. “ How could you even think something like that?” “MARY!” Liss whispered harshly, again, “Keep your voice down! You're causing a scene.” Turning to Amy, “In theory, it's a doable idea. But, given our current circumstances, I don't think it wise to draw unnecessary attention to ourselves. We CAN'T have someone figuring out what we're doing here.” “Yer doin what we're all doin here. Yer stranded. Less there's somethin yer na tellin us.” came a logical, but sweet voice from behind them. All three girls turned to face the person this voice belongs to. Neil and his uncle were near by, but not close enough to hear the entire conversation. Or at least Liss hoped so. “No, sorry Neil. We don't have a magical way to just travel through time and be where we're going.” Liss laughed, relaxing when Neil laughed in response. He and Amy soon fell into a comfortable conversation that Mary and Liss felt they were intruding on, so both women moved farther forward on the plane. They found themselves just a few seats from Jen and Paul and Sasha, Linda, and Ryan, both groups were very involved in their own conversations. Doctor Emmet seemed to be snoozing in his seat, or at least that's what the drool running down his chin indicated. This made Mary giggle. Liss couldn't help smiling as well. For the first time since the crash, it seemed that everyone was a bit more relaxed. Liss leaned her head back onto the headrest of her seat and closed her eyes. Though she was exhausted and wanted nothing but sleep to come, it didn't. Instead she found herself listening to the conversations around her. Sasha and Ryan were very involved in a deep conversation on the importance of algebra in everyday life. Although Linda was right next to them, she was very quiet, hardly speaking at all. Jen seemed to be listening to Paul talk most of the time. He seemed to ramble on, now that he finally warmed up to her. They discussed traveling and life and love and family among others. Damian was bobbing his head to some up tempo music coming through his earbuds. Keith was sleeping comfortably, with his hand firmly in his jeans pocket, protecting his precious necklace. Bonnie had found a book, and was reading it between glances at Keith. Sharon had gotten the kids settled down, Dandy was writing and Danny was reading a school book. Colm and Rachelle were pleasantly conversing with her sister. The only two missing were George and Declan. Liss figured both of them were in the cockpit. With one last look at Mary, Liss's eyes drifted closed and she began to dream.
Here's the next update! Enjoy! Liss awoke to a cabin full of people talking, arguing, and whining, with Declan and George trying to calm everyone down and say something. Finally with a lot of crowd control and shushing done by Declan, Rachelle, and Colm, George was finally able to speak. "What is going on?" Liss quietly asked Emmet who had ended up next to her. "I'm not sure," Emmet replied, "George said something about a village and rescue and everyone started to talk at the same time, so I didn't hear any more." "Now as everyone knows we have had a slight development in what we plan to do," George began, "I know that the plan that my crew and I have come up with will have some of you disagree with it." "After consultin our maps we discovered that there is a village about 3 days walkin time from here," Declan said. Everyone's ears perked up at this, somehow the cramped conditions and stale air was rubbing everyone the wrong way and they were more then ready to get out for good. "But we also decided that the jungle would be too dangerous for everyone ta walk through, an some are not quite up ta it," George added glancing significantly at Amy, Paul, Damian, and the children. "Just ta make it clear, we want a small group that will travel quickly. The main goal is to get to the village and get a rescue party here sooner then it might be." Declan explained. "How do you plan to get this "Elite" group together," Paul said with a bit of a sneer, "Seems like you already know who you do not want along." "We already have that sorted," Rachelle replied as she started handing out slips of paper to everyone, "We are drawing to see who will go along." "Declan will be going along and be in charge of the group and I will remain here with the rest," George said. "How many people will be in this group leaving?" Amy asked. "We decided to keep it small....around 4 people," Colm said, "That way less people to wait for if the going gets rough." "What kind of creatures are out there that we might have to deal with?" Jen asked. Daniel and Dandy started rattling off a few of the species of bug and poisonous spiders, snakes, and insects which inhabited the jungle. This caused quite a few people on board to lose their eager look to leave the plane, a few even scooted nervously away from the broken windows. George started to pull out numbers out of Paul's hat which was the only available one at the time. "The numbers are 7, 6, and 15 George said, "Who do those numbers belong to?" He was satisfied to see a few hands tentatively raised. Mary raised her hand and breathed a sigh of relief when Liss raised hers as well, she was glad someone she knew would be along. Especially since Declan was along and the only other member of the group was going to be Keith. "We are going to set out as soon as we get a few supplies together," Declan said, "I have the map and I'd like to get as far as possible tonight before the sun sets." Mary noticed a few of the other passengers like the three young D's were a bit jealous, but most seemed a bit relieved that they were not having to leave the familiar surroundings of the plane for the great unknown jungle and bush. "I think another reason they want to speed the rescue up is we are running out of provisions," Liss whispered to Mary. Noticing the dwindling stacks in the compartment when the crew was packing Mary nodded in agreement. "Seems like we will be gettin ta know each other a bit," Keith said walking over to where Liss and Mary had positioned themselves near the door. "Great," Mary muttered rolling her eyes, "That will be lovely," Liss said elbowing and glaring at Mary. "Be nice," Liss mouthed, remembering the conversation earlier about getting on Keith's good side. "Sure we are just going to be one nice, small, happy family, "Mary said as Declan approached with the supplies. Stepping out into the open and receiving last minute advice and goodbye's from the others they set off into the surrounding jungle. Declan led the way with Keith right beside him, Keith looked as if he wanted to take the map and control of the situation right then and there. Liss sighed nervously and smiled at Mary who grinned back, this was going to be interesting.
I am so glad to see everyone is enjoying this! GG and I had so much fun writing it! Here's the next part! Within the first hour of travel, Keith was already complaining about the terrain and how his legs were scratched by the underbrush. Declan kept shooting him dirty looks, making the girls giggle. Several times, Liss and Mary would hear sounds behind them. Snapping of twigs or shuffling of leaves. They kept telling themselves that it was just animals, but this thought wasn't exactly comforting. “Okay guys. Lets take a wee rest for a bit an we can try to find somethin ta eat.” Declan said after about four hours of walking. Everyone was all for the idea. “I saw a few plants back there a few yards. If I could get a closer look, I'm sure we could find something to eat. Then we can make up a few beds so we can get a bit of sleep.” Liss said. “Mary and I will go looking for plants and come back with food. You two, gather several fallen logs, twigs, and pick some leaves from the trees and bring them back here.” “Is she always this bossy?” Keith stage whispered to Mary. “Only when she knows what she's talking about. And if I were you, I'd listen. Don't get on her bad side if you know what's good for you.” Mary said with a sly smile, and ended with a wink, making Keith glance fearfully at Liss. Declan approached Liss, “Ya sure ya don't need some protectin out there?” Liss, although becoming fond of him, was a bit insulted at the suggestion that she and Mary could not handle themselves. “We will be fine. We're big girls. We don't need big, strong men protecting us.” “Tha's na what I meant. I was referrin ta me knife. Ya wanna take it?” “Oh.” Liss blushed. “Um.. Sure. It would be good for cutting off some of the fruits and such. Thanks” Liss and Mary took off to retrace some of the path the group had taken to find some edible plants. Both of the women were very big into natural remedies and food so they had made a point of getting to know the native plants in Australia. By recognizing some of the plants that they had passed, Liss figured that they must not be too far from Sidney, which was a good thing. She couldn't wait to get to the kids and help finish the orphanage that they had begun building last year. Suddenly, Mary pulled on the back of Liss's shirt to stop her from moving forward. Liss turned to look at her quizzically. Mary motioned for them to move behind a nearby tree trunk. Liss followed her lead. Not a few minutes after they had taken up post, a figure appeared from through some brush. They were moving slowly, and almost silently toward the girls. As the figure got closer, Liss recognized it as Linda. “What in the world is she doing out here?” she whispered to Mary, who shrugged her shoulders, never taking her eyes off of the woman following them. Once they were sure that they were safely out of earshot of Linda, Liss and Mary got out from behind their hiding place and making a wide circle around, began trekking back to their camp. Not long into their journey back, Liss literally ran into Ryan, who was jogging along at a good clip. “What are you doing out here?” Liss demanded once she was back to her feet. “Sorry lass. I noticed that Miss Linda went out an I wanted ta make sure she wouldn'ta get hurt.” he said sincerely. “Well I don't know why she's out here but she's moving awfully quietly and following the exact path that we took earlier. Declan and Keith are farther ahead of us collecting things for beds and a little shelter and we're looking for food. I guess you could help us. We could probably use the extra hands back at camp. And if we catch up with Linda she might as well join us too. It's not exactly safe out here alone.” Liss said. The three of them took off and soon found more than enough food for 6 people, just in case they ran into Linda again. Arriving back to camp, they found that Linda was already there. Liss and Mary pulled Declan and Keith aside into a little conference about their new companions. “Where'dya find him.” Keith asked, indicating Ryan with his head. “Liss literally ran into him.” Mary volunteered. “We figured he had might as well come with us. It's safer for him that way.” “Thas pretty much how we found her ta. Sawr her wanderin round the jungle when we were cuttin leaves.” Declan said. “Not sure why there here but lets just deal with it. It's too late to send them back now. But in the morning, lets send them toward the plane. We're closer to that then the village anyway, according to the map.” Liss suggested. Everyone was in agreement. And at just that moment, Keith's belly chose to rumble loudly, breaking the tension and making them all laugh. “Lets get some food. Then we can worry about the tent and beds.” Liss laughed. Liss recruited Mary, Ryan and Keith to prepare the food, and she, Declan, and Linda took to getting a sort of lean-to built. In no time, the six of them were enjoying some shockingly tasty roasted macadamia nuts, scrub nettle and wild parsnips, with mullumbimby plums and black apples for dessert. The also consumed lots of nice clean water from a stream that Mary and Liss had found earlier. Liss and Mary instructed everyone else on making the most comfortable sleeping mats they could with the supplies that they had and soon everyone was sound asleep, ending the first night of travel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ UPDATE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everyone was exhausted after the first day of hiking, it had not been that strenuous, but after being cooped up in close quarters for a few days it had taken awhile for their muscles to adjust again.
Declan though he was tired couldn't seem to stay asleep, he woke up on and off worrying about every rustle or snap that came from the jungle around.
Finally giving up any idea of sleep he slowly got up and moving as quietly as possible sat up against a nearby tree to wait the night out.
But instead of keeping him awake it had the opposite affect and he was soon snoring somewhat loudly.
Mary stirred a few moments later, Declan's rustling had woken her up, normally she slept deeply unless in unfamiliar surroundings like now.
Seeing Declan against the tree she surmised what had woken her, for a bit she just lay there staring up at the stars and thinking about the past days and what lay ahead.
Just as she was about to doze off Linda got up and started inching toward Keith, Mary wondered why and kept a close eye on what was happening as she pretended to be asleep.
Then she remembered the necklace, and as Linda reached for the pocket that she had seen Keith stow it in before he left the plane, Mary sat up and placed her hand on Linda's back.
This made Linda yell in surprise, which in turn awoke everyone else up as well.
"What is goin on?" Keith asked yawning as he sleepily opened his eyes and pushed his tousled blond hair out of the way.
"We have a pickpocket among us," Mary replied glaring at Linda.
"Now why don't ye both explain ta me what is goin on," Declan said, rubbing the back of his neck where it had gone stiff from sitting against the tree.
"Yes please do explain," Liss put in shooting a questioning look Mary's way as she knew something major was up.
"I saw Linda attempting to take the necklace out of Keith's pocket when he was asleep," Mary said.
Linda looked nervously at the ground before she replied, "I was not even close to touching it."
"What necklace?" Ryan asked totally confused.
"You were not close to touching it because I stopped you," Mary countered.
"Besides you just admitted it by knowing saying "It" as in the necklace instead of just saying you weren't close to touching Keith," Liss pointed out.
"Why are you after something that does not belong to you?" Ryan asked Linda curiously, not knowing what to make of the drama in front of him.
Linda decided it was time to face up and tell who she was if only to get to the bottom of the if Keith really owned the necklace.
"I am a detective on the Canadian force," she admitted displaying her badge.
"I've been investigating smugglers and thieves transporting stolen goods over the Canadian border. You had a few suspicious objects on board including the necklace and money hidden in suitcases," Linda added.
Mary and Liss exchanged nervous glances at this wondering if Declan would tell Linda that they had already claimed the money.
"Well ifin ya are claimin that I do not own this necklace ya are mistaken," Keith said indignantly, "I would never desecrate a family heirloom."
Linda seemed satisfied with the answer, "But that does not account for the money," she added.
Declan took a deep breath and said, "The money has been claimed by its legal owners and the reason for transporting it that way was sufficiently explained."
Linda had to give up at that, as she was getting nowhere and it seemed like every suspicion she had was blown away by other peoples word and evidence.
By then the sun had just begun to rise and frame the horizon and to bathe the jungle with a glow.
"I think that enough ruckus has been raised fer now," Declan said, "Now if you would be kind enough ta escort Miss Linda here back ta the plane," Declan asked Ryan.
"Of course," Ryan replied getting up and disposing of his sleeping mat.
As they watched Linda and Ryan walk off Mary and Liss breathed a sigh of relief.
Out of the corner of her eye Mary noticed Keith doing the same thing.
Declan then said, "I don't want to know how, why, or what is going ta happen with the money and necklace, I just want it clear I have nothing to do with it."
He received three nods to this then he said, "Now let's break up camp and get to that village so that we can all get out of this jungle and back to civilization."

celticbear, I'm so glad you're enjoying the story! Ready for the next part? Hope so!!!! Here it is!!!
Travel the next day was very quiet. Seldom did anyone but Mary and Liss speak to anyone, unless they were instructing someone to do something. This was rather unnerving to Liss as she was worried about what Declan was thinking of them and how much he knew.
“Mare, I just don't want us found out. We're doing so much good for all of these kids all over the world and I don't want it to stop because we get caught.” she was finally able to spill what had been running through her mind since the confrontation with Linda a couple of days before.
“Liss! Why are you now being the irrational one? You're always the one with a level head. Declan doesn't know anything and I highly doubt he thinks any less of either of us. I'm not sure what I think of that blonde one though. There's something about him.” Mary said.
Liss couldn't help but agree. She felt that he was not from money as they had originally presumed. She, like Mary couldn't put her finger on it either. “Guys, we're gonna find some more food and water, can you manage getting camp set up?” she spoke up. The men grunted and nodded their replies. Liss looked at Mary and in unison they rolled their eyes.
Gathering food that evening was quick and uneventful. It was nice to enjoy some comfortable silence for a change after the day of tense silence.
Camp was set up and the fire was lit when they got back. The girls took to preparing the food to be roasted.
“Liss.” came a tentative voice from behind them. It was Declan. Liss turned to look at him. “Can I talk ta ya fer a minute?”
Liss nodded and hollered at Keith to assist Mary with the meal.
After getting out of earshot of the others, Declan pulled out his wallet, handing Liss $300 American dollars. She was confused. “What's this for?”
“Ya know how I said I dint wanna have anythin ta do with whatever yas are involved in. Well, I lied. If youse are helpin kids, I wanna help too.” His eyes were so kind and so sincere.
Shoving the money back into Declan's hand, Liss looked him in the eyes, “You DON'T want to be involved. Believe me. You have no idea what...” she trailed off.
“I know moren ya think I do lass.”
Liss was completely confused at this comment, but she wasn't sure she wanted to know what he was referring to.
“I heard ya an yer friend outside the plane the other night. I know how ya get tha money fer those kids.”
Liss was scared and shocked. She didn't know what to do or say. Declan knew. How could she be so careless. She could have sworn that no one was around when she and Mary were talking about the money. The only thing she could think to do was run.
Liss took off like a bolt. Mary and Keith were startled by the sudden movement and noise. Looking toward where Liss and Declan were just talking, she noticed Liss missing.

Mary surmised immediately what must have happened between Liss and Declan as him discovering their secret was the only thing which would have caused her to run off in fear as she had.
Declan hurried over to where Keith and Mary where still rooted to the ground.
"We need ta go after her," he panted out, "She doesna know the area an could get lost verra quickly."
"But ifin we go after her too we might get lost as well, or at least lose our supplies leavin them behind." Keith replied.
As much as both Mary and Declan wanted to go after Liss as soon as possible they both knew that Keith was correct.
Packing as quickly as they could with no definite plan to find Liss in mind they set off following her trail, which was not at all well defined by now.
Each of them had their own worries and concerns running through their minds as they battled their way through the sometimes dense undergrowth of the jungle.
"What was I thinking?" Liss thought mentally berating herself, "Maybe I should have stayed and faced up to Declan, he did not seem to be mad or upset especially the considering the magnitude of what he had discovered."
But somehow just the thought that Declan might have seen her in a bad light made her stomach twist, she knew that if had had said anything negative at all to her she would have broken down then and there.
She was not up to facing judgment or condemnation from someone she had not known that long, yet, whose respect and good graces she desired more then anyone she had ever known.
Declan was very upset at himself, he had only meant to try and help the orphans.
Not only had this plan backfired, but he had frightened Liss half out of her wits and she was now on her own and most likely lost in the wild jungle.
He had not realized that she would be so upset to find out that someone knew of the plan that she and her friends had.
Granted it was illegal and she had feared getting caught to begin with, but Declan believed it was because she was afraid that the money would never get to those who needed it most, as she probably thought he would turn them in.
Keith was wrapped up in his own thoughts, "Where any of them suspicious of him?" he wondered. Certainly besides the necklace no one had given him a second look, besides Liss and Mary.
Mary especially had seemed suspicious from the first, and she had the alarming habit of popping up just where Keith least expected anyone to be.
She had nearly caught him eavesdropping a few times, he felt in his pocket and fingered the necklace, at least he had made the story he had told the crew halfway true.
He smiled a secret smile as he thought of the look on his fathers face when he found the necklace that he had planned to give his new wife missing.
Not that the woman his father planned to marry wasn't a good person, but Keith's loyalty to his mother and the fact that his stepmother to inherit her place, some of her possessions, yet still be only a few years older then Keith himself upset him terribly.
He vowed the one thing she would not have was his mothers necklace, it was something his mother had told him she would give to the woman he married someday, and he planned on making it happen.
Mary was worried, Liss could get lost or seriously injured if left on her own for too long.
As sweet as Liss was Mary knew her to be somewhat accident prone, also Liss's obvious crush on Declan and her violent reaction to Declan discovering their secret was even more concerning.
Mary felt her own resolve ready to shatter as well, the last few days of staying optimistic and being strong for both the injured Amy and the worried Liss had taken their toll on her.
She couldn't wait to have this task they had taken up finished, then she was planning on taking a vacation from everything, hopefully to some exotic place.
Looking around she realized the irony of that last thought as what could be more exotic then walking through a jungle deep in the heart of Australia.
Suddenly she shivered, a feeling that something not good was going to happen came over her and she looked around nervously.
Declan and Keith glanced at her, "Are ye alright lass?" Keith asked.
"Yes, but doesn't it seem a bit darker and cooler to you," Mary remarked.
Both men soon realized what she meant,even though it was morning the sky was already overcast with clouds and they all realized that a storm was on its way.
None of them wanted to experience a rainstorm in the middle of the jungle, but there was no shelter in site, and Declan and Mary were both determined to find Liss before the rain destroyed any trace of the trail which she had left as she fled.
"We need to split up and cover ground faster," Mary said, "Is there any way we can keep communication up with each other?"
Declan reached into his pack and pulled out a set of walkie talkies, "Will this do?" he asked.
"Perfect," Keith said, "Why did ya not pull them out before now?"
"Because I was not lettin the lot of ye out of my sight before," muttered Declan, "You an Mary go off that way, an I will keep followin the trail."
"But Keith will just hold me back," Mary complained, "I grew up hiking so I can find my way quickly in any forest."
"Go together now," Declan said sternly before Keith was able to protest.
Mary got a mischievous grin on her face, when they were a ways away from Declan she started to hurry ahead.
Keith struggled to keep up but in a short time he had lost sight of her, nervously looking around he called for her to come back.
But not a branch or leaf stirred,just as he was about to contact Declan on the walkie talkie, humiliated by the fact he had just been ditched by a girl, he heard a noise.
Turning around to see what it was there was nothing, just then he heard a loud roar and something landed on his back and he fell to the ground with a thud.
As soon as he heard the roar he screamed like a girl expecting to be torn to shreds.
But as suddenly as it happened he felt whatever it was get off his back, rolling quickly over he found himself gazing into Mary's grinning face.
"What did you....why....you just scared the...you are so in trouble!!! " Keith howled taking off after her his temper past the breaking point.
Laughing she just ran, Keith soon tired though as he couldn't keep up with her.
Finally both of them out of breath they took a break far away from each other as possible and still wary.
Mary had enjoyed doubling back and scaring Keith, but she frowned thinking of Liss and hoped that he was having better luck then they were.
Declan had been searching quietly on his own, a clap of thunder was heard overhead and he was just about to call Keith when he heard a faint cry and hurried toward the sound.

Liss was hurt. She could feel the pain coming up her leg and threatening to take over the rest of her body. “Great! Now I'm gonna die her, all alone. And just because I was being stupid!” she thought.
Sucking up her fear, she managed to drag herself against a boulder so that she could sit up enough to take a look at her leg.
Declan was frantic to find out where that cry came from. Nothing was happening though. He could hear nothing but the thunder overhead. He just kept running in the direction of the sound.
Liss took a deep breath and sat forward, sending shooting pain up her body, making her cry out again.
Shakily, she tore the leg of her pants to just below the knee, not an easy feat considering the fact that shock was quickly taking over every fiber of her being.
Looking at the calf of her let, she saw a five inch long gash along the muscle. She shivered at the sight. She guessed it was quite deep, just by the amount of pain she was in, and in all likely-hood, there were torn and cut muscles and ligaments and tendons. She hoped nothing else.
Wiping her hand as clean as she could, she held up her index finger on her right hand, sat up against her knees, and carefully inserted it into the gaping wound, while trying to muffle her scream in her shirt.
Her finger went in to the wound to the second knuckle before the tip hit something solid. She let out her breath. Good news, it didn't go all the way through her calf. Bad news, she needed stitches right away. “Great!” she thought.
Then something else caught her attention. There was some movement coming from her left. This terrified her. Liss knew the kind of creatures that lived in the jungle around here and she also knew that many of them could kill her faster than she would die already.
She soon forgot about the movement and was digging for something in the pockets of her jacket.
Suddenly something burst through the clearing. Liss was too lethargic to pay attention. She was quickly loosing consciousness, when she felt strong arms around her, gently lifting her from the ground. That was the last thing that she remembered before she succumbed to the pain and lost consciousness.
When Liss came to, she was in a soft bed in a dark room. She moved to sit up and felt a hand pushing her back. “No. Yer gonna stay righ there. Ya almost died out there.” She knew it was Declan. She was comforted and drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
Several hours later, Liss awoke again, this time to Mary by her side. “Wha happene?” she slurred.
“You ran off when Declan told you that he knew what we were doing. You fell or something and cut open you leg really badly. It's ok though. We got to the village of Bourke and the doctor here stitched you up then gave you some pain meds that knocked you out.” Mary explained to her.
Liss thought about that for a minute. That explained the comfortable bed and the fact that the pain in her calf had been reduced to a throb. “Is Declan gonna turn us in?” she finally got the courage to ask the one question that had been weighing on her, even in her dreams.
Mary laughed. “Honestly Liss! For all the things you're great at, reading people is not one of them! I just kicked him out to get some rest. He hasn't left your side since he found you in the forest!”
Liss had to absorb all of this. “So... what is he gonna do with the information on us then? Blackmail?”
“I'm gonna let you off with that one! I'll blame it on the meds! No he's not gonna blackmail us! He likes YOU!” Mary shook her head.
“He... he does?” Liss couldn't believe it.
“Aye. I do.” Declan whispered from the doorway, making both girls jump.
“I'll leave you two alone to talk.” Mary excused herself with a smile on her face.

Glad Declan found Liss in the nick of time and that they made it to the village! Now time for the rest of this cast of characters to be rescued!

After leaving Liss with Declan, Mary walked out to the lobby where Keith was waiting.
Needless to say Keith did not take doing nothing very well and he was sprawled over 4 or 5 chairs,feet propped up, with a magazine over his head and snoring loudly, two trays with the remains of what he had had for lunch next to him.
The nurses on duty had all been going goo-goo over him since they had arrived,Mary rolled her eyes, she had been so worried about getting Liss to the hospital and her recovering that she barely had time to think or notice anything else.
The authorities had been informed of the plane crash and Declan had told Mary and Keith that the rest of the crew and passengers should be arriving in town shortly.
Totally fed up with Keith's lack of interaction with the world around him she decided to pull one last prank on him.
Pulling a fake spider out of her pocket, she was not even sure what it was doing there, she borrowed a piece of string from the nurses station.
Tugging Keith's paper down just far enough to leave his face uncovered Mary dangled the spider just above his nose.
Absentmindedly Keith reached up to rub his nose, his eyes opening just a crack.
That was enough for him to glimpse the spider, arms flailing he jumped to his feet as fast as possible.
The sight of him crouching on top of the chair all because of a spider had Mary and anyone in the whole area in a fit of laughter.
He glared at her, grabbed the spider and tossed it into the trash can across the room, earning some admiring glances from any basketball fans in the room.
"Why da ya seem intent on making me life miserable?" Keith demanded.
"Oh you can't seem to take a joke at all!!" she replied, "Besides how was I to know you had arachnophobia?"
"Arach na what Pooh bee?" Keith asked his eyes wide, "What foreign language are ya speaking?"
"Obviously one you don't know," Mary said with a sigh, "Why don't we just go out and get a breath of fresh air and cool off a bit."
"Oh so ye are sayin you admit I am Hot?" he asked with a wink as they headed towards the door.
She punched him in the arm, which at her height was about as far as she could reach to get a decent punch in.
"What was that fer?" he asked rubbing his arm surprised at how much it hurt from such a little lady.
Before she had a chance to reply they arrived at the door just as a bus carrying the rest of their fellow travelers arrived.
Mary squealed as Amy got off the bus and she rushed over to give her friend a hug, leaving Keith standing in awkward silence.
"I heard about Liss...how is she doing? Where is her room?" Amy started asking questions as soon as she took a moment to catch her breath.
"Not so fast," Emmet said as he came over near them, "You Miss Amy need ta get yer own injury checked out and cleared before ya go off gallivantin anywhere else."
Amy sighed, I think I've had enough doctoring this week to last me a life time.
"Are ya sure of that?" Neil asked with a cheeky grin as he tagged along with Amy as she was steered toward the reception desk by Emmet.
Emmet winked at Mary as he walked by making her blush.
It was good to be seeing all of the other passengers again, and they all had very different ideas of how they wanted to spend their first free time in civilization for days.
Dandy wanted to head right off to a bookstore while Daniel insisted that they needed to get some hot chocolate and candy.
Sharon managed to veto this and herded them off to a nearby hotel to take a much needed bath or shower.
Jen wanted to get in contact with her family so they would not worry anymore, she also wanted to write down and document all of their adventures since the plane had crashed.
Paul first checked himself into the hospital as he was convinced that he had contracted some sort of rare malady, though he didn't seem to mind the ministrations of the nurses either.
Rachelle and Arianna headed off to the store to do a bit of shopping for new clothes.
Linda,Bonnie,Misty,Sasha, Colm, Ryan, and George all headed to the nearby pub for drink, they all decided that they needed it with the stress of the last few days, and they were all needing some good craic.
First stop for Damian was the electronic store where he immediately got his phone repaired and bought a laptop, being without technology for days was killing him, though he did stop by a local doughnut shop to buy a dozen doughnuts first.
Mary was surprised to find that after the exodus and scattering of all the other passengers that Keith was still hanging around.
"Why didn't you head off to the pub with the rest?" she asked curiously.
"I was waitin fer ye," He said, "We never did get that coolin off ye talked about."
"Well I need to go see how my friends are doing, so see you later," Mary said turning quickly around and walking away leaving a startled Keith behind.
She didn't know why she had been so sharp with him, but she did need to go and see how Amy and Liss were doing, she decided to check in with Liss first to tell her Amy had arrived.
