Okay, here's our next update! We hope you like it!
After torturing Taylor for a good ten minutes, they were off to Starbucks.
When they walked up, they saw a dark hair, blond hair, and a lighter brown hair all at the counter, getting drinks.
Kate and Taylor walked in, and the lads turned. Damian smiled once he saw them and walked over. Keith and Emmet followed in tow.
“Hey, Kate!” Damian said, giving her an awkward hug to which she heard a few snickers from behind her.
“Hi, Damian. Hi, Keith and Emmet!” she replied, slipping out of Damian’s arms.
“Hi,” they both said. Then Kate got an elbow in the ribs from Taylor.
“Oh, Keith, Emmet, this is Taylor,” she introduced. Taylor stepped up and smiled.
“Hi, Taylor,” they both replied. And then ensued the awkward silence. Kate cleared her throat finally and asked, “Why don’t we all go order some drinks?”
“That sounds like a great idea,” Damian said, opening the door for them. They all went in and Kate went to get them a table.
“So, I’ll go order for us and you guys can get acquainted,” Kate said.
“I’ll come with you!” Damian offered, and they were off.
~*~ Taylor’s POV~*~
“So, how old are you, Taylor?” Emmet asked.
“I’m 18. I would’ve graduated, but I was sick a lot. But I’m better now and I’ll finish this year!” I replied a little uneasily.
“Ah, okay. So, do you have a favorite sport?” Keith asked, obviously trying to strike up a conversation to avoid the awkwardness of our silence. I was going to kill Kate when we were alone for making me sit here alone with them.
“Umm, I guess I would have to say either soccer or volleyball, as they’re both a lot of fun,” I replied, my nerves easing a bit as we talked.
“Do you like, say, surfing?” he asked, his eyes lighting up a bit.
I hesitated. “I’ve never...really surfed?”
Keith’s eyes bugged slightly. “Emmet, do ye hear that, lad? The lady’s never surfed.”
Lady? I thought, trying not to laugh. “No, I’ve never surfed. Is there a problem?”
The look on Keith’s face was so funny that both Emmet and I burst out laughing. Damian and Kate came over with drinks for all. “What’s so funny?” Damian asked.
This just made Emmet and me laugh even harder. Keith’s face was bright red by the time we had calmed sufficiently. We told them and Keith laughed with grace. Damian and Kate looked slightly confused. I suppose you had to be there.
Kate handed me a small piece of paper. I opened it up curiously and saw a note to Jessica in Damian’s handwriting. I grinned. This was going to be the perfect afternoon.
~*~ Kate’s POV~*~
“So, I’ll go over and get drinks so you guys can get acquainted,” I said, smiling. Taylor and
Keith would break the ice, I was sure.
“I’ll go with you!” Damian said, startling me a bit.
“Oh...okay,” I said, smiling at him. We went over to the counter. Damian rattled off a list of drinks and I just let him do the talking. The cashier made him repeat it a few times. Guess he didn’t understand Irish accents.
Damian leaned on the counter when the order was straightened out. “So, what caused you to actually pick up the phone and call me today? Honestly, I didn’t think you would ever do it.” He winked slowly, teasing me, I was sure.
I felt the heat rising in my face and quickly answered, “Well, honestly...you want the truth?” I laughed self consciously. “It’s a little silly...”
He grinned. “That’s okay. I work with Keith. Talk about silly...”
“Well, Taylor and I were late today. My teacher wanted to know why.” I hesitated. “I told him that I met you...and well, he wants an autograph. He won’t let us off the hook otherwise.”
Damian laughed, then glanced over at the others to see if they had heard. They seemed to be enjoying themselves, however. He looked back at me. “Do you have a piece of paper and a pencil?”
I shook my head slowly, but the cashier reached over with a piece of thick paper and a pen.
“Here you go,” he said.
Damian’s eyes twinkled. “Thanks, mate,” he said. “Now, who should I make it out to?”
“Jessica,” I replied, watching him write it down. He handed it to me. I read it silently, smiling. “Dear Jessica, best wishes and go far! Thanks for being such a great fan. Maybe I’ll meet you someday. Love, Damian <3 ”
“She’ll love it,” I whispered. I looked up into his face. He was smiling at me gently and I just couldn’t seem to stop staring for a long moment.
The cashier cleared his throat. “Excuse me...your order is ready.”
We snapped out of it and gathered the note and the drinks. “Thanks,” we said, taking the drinks over to the table where Taylor and Emmet were laughing so hard. When they finally explained the joke, I tried to appreciate it, but didn’t quite get it. Instead, I handed the note to Taylor and said, “We got it...now let’s have a good time, eh?”
She laughed and nodded. “Definitely.”
Keith and Emmet looked confused, but all three lads raised their coffees in a toast. I decided right there to not think about what Damian was doing to my feelings. I was going to have fun.
