One normal day, I was walking to school. It was time for my 0 Period class. “Why does Mr. August torture us with such an early class?” I grumbled to myself. Just then, I saw the answer to my question. Jogging towards me were two very familiar people. I stopped dead in my tracks, spellbound. As the passed, I said, “Ryan Kelly? Damian McGinty?” They both stopped running and look at me expectantly. “Yes?” the man who had to be Ryan answered. I barely stifled a squeal of adoration. “Oh, goodness! It really is you! Wow!” I could barely contain my excitement. Pulling off my backpack, I hastily removed a pen and notebook. “Listen, I am probably your biggest fan for sixty miles. At least! Will you please sign this?” I smiled at them happily. They glanced at each other and started laughing. Damian said, “And I thought we’d be safe from the fans here!” Taking the notebook and pen, he asked, “And who should I make this out to?” “Oh! Of course,” I said. “Jenny. I mean, my name’s Jenny Nelson, but you can call me Jenny, and I-“ I stopped myself, hoping that they didn’t notice my babbling. Of course, I thought, they probably get it all the time. As Ryan was signing my notebook, I glanced at my cell phone. “Oh, no,” I groaned. 7:38! “I’m going to be late,” I moaned. “Mr. August will…well,” I laughed, “he’ll warn me not to be late.” “Well,” Ryan cleared his throat, “it was nice meeting you. See you later, maybe.” And he and Damian jogged away, just like that. I could hear Damian complaining, “Ryan I thought you said this was going to be a short run.” I smiled. “That was amazing,” I said to the birds. I floated into jazz band. 7:43. Ok, not too bad, only three minutes late. And the reason? I smiled again. And couldn’t stop smiling the whole day. As I walked home after school with two of my brothers, I kept glancing around. I longed to see them again. But I didn’t. Nor did I tell my brothers what had happened that morning. My backpack felt as if it had the most precious thing in the world in it. I had kept looking at my notebook during the school day happily. I went into the house with a “Guess what happened today?”, and found a crowd of brothers. They all announced that Mom was at Nita’s house. I sighed. “All right,” I said. “But I have some truly exciting news!” I grinned. Going outside, I got my basketball and started shooting hoops in the alley (with a couple of brothers, of course!). we were in “halftime” of our game (the “Heat” team was beating the “Lakers” team by six), when Lukas asked me, “What was the exciting news you had to tell Mom this afternoon?” I smiled. “Well,” I started to say happily, then paused. “Can you keep a secret?” He sighed. “How many times do you have to ask me that?” “Every time,” I replied. “You see, I saw the most amazing thing today!” He nodded for me to continue. “Damian McGinty and Ryan Kelly!” I sighed happily and was almost off to dreamland. “No, you didn’t.” I stared at Lukas in astonishment. “Wha’? Yes, I did!” I argued. “I’m not lying! They are even better looking in person, and Damian has the most amazing laugh, and Ryan’s smile is so warm…” Lukas rolled his eyes. “Well, tell me this, genius. What were they doing here?” “Um…” I said. “How should I know? I have no idea. But they signed my notebook! I was late for jazz band!” “Well, then,” he said, “go get your notebook. I want to see.” He raised his eyebrows expectantly. “Fine,” I said, bristling with resentment. I stormed off to the front of the house, with Lukas right behind me. As we rounded the corner, I saw three people moving towards us. I stopped Lukas and grabbed his arm, amazed. “Luke! Look! Now do you believe me?” He followed my finger and his blue eyes opened wide. “Is that? Is it Keith, Damian and Neil?” “Well,” I smiled smugly. “Now do you believe me?” “Yeah,” he replied slowly. Then he seemed to awaken and snapped, “Don’t call me Luke!” Then (oh goodness!), Damian recognized me and waved at me. “Hey, Jenny,” he called, smiling. I smiled back happily. “Hi, Damian,” I said back. Lukas rolled his eyes at me. “You’re acting just like a silly teenage girl,” he hissed. By then, the guys were quite close to us. Damian said, “I’m assuming you know that this is Keith and this is Neil.” I smiled. “Yes,” I replied. “How are you?” I shook their hands. “This is my brother, Lukas.” I discreetly stuck out my tongue at him, but I think Neil saw me. His eyes started twinkling with amusement. Lukas quite graciously said hello to all of them, then blurted out, “What are you guys doing here?” Keith started laughing. “Well, you don’t have any problem asking questions, do you?” He continued laughing. We all joined in before long. Laughter is contagious. Before we had stopped laughing, Chris and Johnny had come to see what we were laughing at. They both stopped, amazed. “Keith?” they asked excitedly. I shook my head in amusement. They had always like Keith best. After Keith had said a very nice hello, they turned to Damian. “Hi!” Chris said. “I’m always hearing about how amazing you are and how blue your eyes are, etc.” Damian looked startled. “Really?” He glanced my way. I felt myself turning pink. “Oh, well, I’m glad my fans love me so much!” He winked at me and continued talking to Chris and Johnny. Keith then said, “To answer your question, Lukas, we are here because Celtic Thunder has some business in Eugene. We want to see how it would work out to have a concert here. There’s a debate about that right now. And as this town is small and we thought we wouldn’t see any fans here,” he raised his eyebrows my way, “we decided to rent here. So, this is your house?” “Yes,” I replied, wishing desperately that we had cut the grass yesterday. Why does it rain so much in Oregon, anyway? “Where are you staying?” Neil and Keith pointed down Second Street. “Those apartments down there,” Neil replied. “Really?” I started grinning. “Just down the street from us? How long will you be here?” I noticed Chris and Johnny dragging Damian into the house, no doubt to show him the Xbox. Lukas decided to go along. “Really. And we’re here for ten days,” Keith replied. “Know any good places we should see?” I thought quickly. “Um…” I said, “we don’t exactly live in the most exciting place in the world. There’s the beach,” Keith’s eyes lit up, “the mountains, and Crater Lake if you don’t mind driving.” Neil spoke up. “Think there’ll be any snow in the mountains still?” I shrugged. “Don’t know. You could look it up. And Keith, remember to check the temperature of the water before you get in, ok? Even in summer, we have to be careful.” Keith looked worried. I laughed and finished. “Let me know how cold it is!” Keith nodded warily. “May we go inside?” he asked. “Oh – sure,” I replied, surprised. We walked in just as Damian was coming downstairs. “Hey,” he said. “You have a nice house.” And you have a nice voice, I felt like saying. Why do I always die for accents? Out loud, I replied, “Thanks you. It took us eight years to make it look like this.” Neil asked, “What did it look like before?” I grimaced. “Awful. We put in stairs, put in a floor, knocked down a wall, put up a wall, carpeted, wallpaper. And I probably forgot some. It’s been tough.” They looked around with amazement glittering in their eyes. “Wow,” Keith said, “you’ve really –“ The door opened just then. In stepped Jeffrey and my mom. Just like my little brothers, their eyes got huge. “H-hello,” my mom stammered. “I’m Debbie.” She looked at me quizzically. I simply smiled back. They all started to introduce themselves, but my mom held up her hand. “Don’t bother, I know who you all are,” she laughed. She shook their hands as Lukas, Chris and Johnny all stormed down the stairs. “Mom, you’re home!” was the general cry as they ran to give her a hug. The guys all smiled. “May we go outside?” my brothers begged. “Please?” “If Jeffrey goes with you,” Mom said firmly. Three pairs of eyes turned on Jeffrey pleadingly. “All right,” he sighed. Joy broke loose as they all ran outside. “Well,” Mom said after a moment’s silence. “How are you guys today?”

hahaha thanks everybody, I think this story is pretty good quiet compared to a lot of stories on here, but that's ok! Here's the next update for everyone: Keith kept staring back and forth between Mom and me. “Did you know,” he said, “you and your daughter look exactly alike?” Mom smiled. “Yes, we’ve heard that a lot, haven’t we, Jenny?” I nodded. “You won’t believe how many people have said that in the grocery store!” “Well,” Neil said, “Jenny was just telling us all the things you have done to your house. It looks very nice.” Damian and Keith nodded. “Thank you,” Mom beamed. “We’re putting in a raised bed right now. How did you meet Jenny?” she raised her eyebrows curiously. Damian spoke up. “Ryan and I were on a jog this morning,” he rolled his eyes, “and she was walking to class. We were talking for a few minutes then. And we were walking around today while they were outside. Your youngest boys are very energetic,” he ended with a smile. I agreed. “Yes, they are indeed. Mom, the office told me that I needed to get my tardy excused in the next three school day. Is that ok?” “Tardy?” Mom asked. “To jazz band…” I said slowly. “Oh! Because of…yeah, that’s fine. I’ll excuse it. Of course.” Mom nodded vigorously. “I’d say you had a good excuse! So, guys, where are you staying?” “At the apartments down the street,” Neil answered. “Oh! Wow, that’s awesome!” Mom smiled, and then frowned at Keith, who was texting. She has this thing against texting while everyone’s sitting and talking. Keith looked up and saw us all looking at him. Sheepishly, he put his phone away “Uh, Neil, George is coming to get you. I guess you’re going to, uh,” he checked his phone, “some place called Café Yumm with him.” “Great!” Neil said. Turning to my mom and me, he asked, “Is it good?” “Amazing!” we said at the same time. Laughing I said, “It’s really good. I love it!” George honked the horn outside. I looked out the window. “ooh, nice car,” I said. “Dee would be jealous!” Mom and I laughed. “My best friend is obsessed with Cameros,” I explained to Keith and Damian. We all said good bye to Neil as he showed himself out. “Well, boys,” Mom said, “would you like to stay for dinner?” Keith and Damian looked at each other and grinned. “Yes!” Keith exclaimed. Mom looked startled. “Well, it won’t be that fancy,” she warned them. Damian laughed. “Well, you see, if we went to the apartment to eat, we would have to brave Paul and Ryan’s cooking. So thank you very much for the invitation!” his blue eyes sparkled. “Well, is Emmett here with you?” Mom asked. “Yes, but he went to a restaurant with Sharon. She came with us so that we wouldn’t get in trouble.” Keith looked so innocent that I started laughing. ”What?” he asked. His eyes started sparkling mischievously. Mom shook her head. “Don’t ask, that child just loves to laugh.” She went to the kitchen to start dinner, telling us that she did not need our help. Keith watched her leave. “That’s a strong woman, there.” He turned to me. “So how old are you? Just wondering.” I blinked, shocked by the abruptness of the question, and then replied, “I’m fourteen. Why?” “You are?” Keith asked in astonishment. “You look like you’re sixteen or seventeen.” “Another thing people tell me all the time,” I replied. “I guess I just look old!” I smiled teasingly. Keith laughed. “You probably know how old I am, right?” I nodded. “Easy. You’re 10 years older. Damian’s four years older. Ryan and Paul are 18 and 17 years older. And George is two years away from my mom. Easy.” I smiled. Damian blinked. “And you remember all these numbers how?” Mom called from the kitchen. “She’s a nerd! That’s how!” As we were all laughing about this, and I admitted that I was, indeed, a nerd, a knock came at the door. “It’s your dad!” Mom called. I opened the door, and it was. “Hi, dad,” I said. “Hey,” he said. “Are your brothers ready to go?” “They’re in the alley. Here are their bags,” I replied. He thanked me and said, “Sure you don’t want to come as well?” “No thanks,” I replied. I shut the door as he started walking to the side of the house. Keith and Damian looked at me curiously. “My dad,” I explained. “He’s here to pick up my brothers for the weekend.” They nodded, obviously wanting to know more, but they didn’t ask. The boys all came in to say good bye to Mom. Johnny came over and asked for hugs from Damian and Keith. They very graciously complied. Then the boys left (except for Jeffrey; he never goes.). We just talked for awhile, then Mom called, “Will somebody set the table?” We all ended up doing it. “Mmm, fajitas,” I said. “Smells good, Mommy!” After the table was set (which took a while, Damian and Keith just kept getting in the way), we all sat down to eat. We all prayed first, then chaos reigned as we passed ingredients around. “Oh, Debbie,” Keith said. “It’s very, very good!” Damian added, “Much better than Ryan or Paul could do!” Mom laughed. “Thanks,” she said. “I’ll tell you a secret. I wouldn’t have wanted to eat their cooking, either.” She winked at the guys. After the laughter subsided, Damian turned to Jeffrey. “So, how old are you, Jeffrey?” “They say I’m almost sixteen,” Jeffrey said absentmindedly. Damian blinked in surprise. “Oh, really?” Mom nodded her head. “He is. I should know. I was there!” Keith smirked. “Well, they say that Damo here is eighteen. I’m not so sure about that, though.” He punched Damian playfully. “Hey!” Damian protested. He punched him back. Just then, “Remember Me” started ringing out. I jumped, and Keith pulled out his phone. “Debbie, do you mind? I forgot to call Paul and Ryan to let them know where we are.” “Oh, it’s fine,” Mom said. “Answer it!” “Hello?” Keith said. We all listened eagerly. “Uh, yeah, we’re at Jenny’s house. Yes, eating dinner. Jus task Ryan who Jenny is. No, I don’t know when we’ll be back. Oh. Ok. Bye.” He hung up. “He’s eating popcorn tonight,” he informed us all. Damian rolled his eyes. Damian turned to me. “So, do you have any sisters?” I nodded. “Yes, but she lives in another state. I haven’t seen her for over a month now.” “Is it hard living with so many brothers?” Keith asked. Jeffrey gave a short laugh. “Are you kidding? She rules the household! Except for Mom, of course,” he added quickly. I nodded proudly. “Yes, I do. Most of the time. Sometimes they overrule me, though. That’s always tough.” After more small talk, Mom got up. “Who’s ready for dessert?” We all smiled at her angelically. “Of course, everybody is,” she said knowingly as she went into the kitchen.

Hope everyone likes it We all waited eagerly for her to return. She did momentarily, coming back with a plate of peanut butter bars. We each took one. There was silence as everyone ate theirs. When we were done, and the proper thanks was given, Mom stood up again. “Well, who’s going to clean the kitchen?” She looked pointedly at Jeffrey and me. “We’ll help,” Keith volunteered himself and Damian. Damian looked at him as if he were crazy. Keith stared him down. “Yeah,” Damian muttered. “We’ll help.” “No, you don’t have to,” Mom protested. “No, really, we’d love to,” Keith said. Damian said nothing. Jeffrey stood up. “I’ll clean the kitchen if you clear the table.” We all agreed happily (especially Damian!). Mom sighed but agreed. She’s always trying to get me to do more chores. “So, guys, do you want to see the house?” “Sure,” they answered. I felt a sense of panic. Did I clean my room this morning? I couldn’t remember. As we viewed the house, I wanted to go on ahead and quickly clean my room. But I knew I couldn’t. I sighed unhappily. Damian looked at me. “Are you okay?” I nodded. “I’m fine.” Mom gave me a knowing look. She led the way to my room next. I stepped inside and breathed a sigh of relief. I just had a few books on the floor and some clothes on the extra bed. Mom smiled at me. Keith looked at me mischievously. “Nice poster,” he said. I looked at the picture of Celtic Thunder and smiled. “Yeah, I like it!” I said. “I really do love how great you guys are.” “I meant the Ducks poster. The one for the BCS Championship Bowl? But the Celtic Thunder poster is pretty good, too. Not the best picture of me, I’m afraid.” I turned red. “Right. Ducks poster. I love the Ducks, too.” Instantly, I Love My Ducks popped into my head. I started humming it quietly. We finished the tour quickly after that. We all ended up in the living room again. Jeffrey appeared from the kitchen. “I’m going to go to my room. I have an idea for a story. Ok?” I smiled. “Is it a Cody story?” “No, it’s my Gothic story.” Jeffrey started up the stairs. “Bye!” Keith said. A “good bye” floated down as an answer. “Are you leaving?” Mom asked. “No, just if we leave before he comes back down,” Keith replied, smiling. “By the way, Debbie, are the oceans in Oregon cold? To surf in?” Damian rolled his eyes. Mom looked startled. “Well, the oceans here are very cold all year long. Why?” Keith sighed. “That’s what Jenny told me.” “Oh, Jenny,” Damian put in quickly, “what song have you been humming for a while?” “I Love My Ducks!” I announced. “One of my favorite Duck songs.” Damian looked skeptical. “You have songs about your teams here? I mean, besides fight songs?” “The Ducks do,” Mom announced, very proudly. She went into her bedroom and came back with her laptop. She proceeded to play I Love My Ducks. They watched in fascination. “And how many songs about the Ducks are there?” Keith asked. “About five,” I said. “But my favorite is Call Me A Duck.” I played it for them on YouTube. At the shot of Eugene, Keith mumbled, “This is such a pretty area.” I smiled. When the song was over, Damian said, “I like that song. I guess sports are huge for all Americans, huh?” “Well, not all,” Mom said. “But a lot of Americans love sports.” Keith’s phone went off again. It was playing “Heartbreaker.” Ryan. “Hello?” Keith said. “Um, yeah. I guess. Now?” He looked at his watch. “Oh. Ok. We’re having fun. Sure thing, Ryan. Bye.” He hung up. “Well?” Damian asked. “Does he think we’re six years old?” Keith raged. “You might want to think about coming back,” he mocked Ryan. “We’re only down the street. With an adult!! Why does he act like our babysitter? I don’t want to go; there’s great craic here!” “Woah, calm down, Keith!” Damian said, putting his hands up. “Maybe he is too patronizing. But he just doesn’t want us to run into any trouble or anything like that. I’m sure Sharon agrees. You know how protective Ryan is, anyway.” Keith sighed. “And he’ll be over here soon if we don’t go.” He looked around. “I had fun tonight. Thanks, Debbie.” He gave her a hug. Damian followed suit. Mom beamed. Keith came over and gave me a hug. “See ya,” he said. I just nodded. Damian gave me a hug. “Can I come over tomorrow?” he asked. I smiled. “Sure,” I replied. Keith opened the door, then turned and said, “What are your numbers?” Mom gave him our cell phone numbers. Keith thanked her. He smiled at me. “And when I get the car from George, I’ll give your friend a ride. Ok?” I laughed. “She’ll love it!” “Ok. Bye!” they called. And they were gone. I looked at my mom. “That was an amazing day. I love Friday,” I said happily. I awoke the next morning to the sound of “Swan Lake” playing in my ear. I looked at my phone and answered. “Hey, can we come over?” Keith. I rolled over. “Do you guys ever sleep?” I asked grumpily. “Woah, cool,” he said. “Jet lag. And it’s ten o’clock!” “And it’s Saturday!” I said. “Text me next time.” I thought for a moment. “Come over in half an hour?” Keith agreed and hung up without saying goodbye. “Irishmen,” I muttered. Getting up, I got dressed, pulled my hair up and ate breakfast. I was cleaning the kitchen when a knock came at the door. “Just come in!” I yelled. A second later, Keith walked into the kitchen.

Here's the update, hope ya'll like it “Hey, Jenny,” he said. “Is that grey cat outside yours?” I nodded. “Why?” “Oh, ‘cause Damian’s petting it. It’s certainly very friendly.” Damian walked in. “Hi, Jenny,” he said. “Is this your cat?” Fluffy was cradled in his arms, purring. “Yeah,” I said slowly. “Can you put her back outside?” Damian nodded agreeably. “Sure.” He deposited the cat outside. Keith said, “I have the car. Will you invite our friend over?” “Sure,” I said, surprised that he was actually giving Dee a ride. I called her. “Hey, Dee, can you come over? I have a surprise for you!” Mom came out of her room. “Hey, guys,” she said in surprise. “You’re here early.” “Jet lag,” they said at the same time. “Dee’s coming,” I announced. “She’ll be here in a couple of minutes.” Lukas came downstairs. “Hi!” he said. Damian said, surprised, “I thought you were at your dad’s for the weekend.” “Yeah, but I came back late last night,” Lukas replied. I went into the kitchen to finish cleaning it. They continued their small talk in the living room. A few minutes later, the front door opened. “Jenny!” “I’m in the kitchen, Dee!” I called back. She ran in, her eyes huge. “The most beautiful Camero I have ever seen is right outside your house! Is that the one you were telling me about? Your grandpa’s?” I shook my head. “No, it’s theirs,” I said, motioning towards the living room. Dee bounded out of the kitchen, and I could hear her saying, “Hi! How are you?” I shook my head, amused. She’s so beautiful and never fails to amuse me. Finishing the kitchen, I went to the living room. Dee was talking happily about Cameros. The look in Keith’s eyes startled me for a moment. Then I looked at Dee and back at Keith. Ah. Damian met my eyes. He tipped his head towards Keith and looked at the ceiling. I started laughing. Dee looked at me. “What’s so funny about 2010 Cameros?” “Nothing!” I replied quickly. Keith looked from Damian to me suspiciously. “So, Keith,” I pushed on, “will you take us for a ride?” “Where to? Just give the word!” he replied, quite gallantly, I thought. “Sweet Life!” Dee said. “You read my mind,” I exclaimed. “Mom? Is that fine with you?” “Sure thing, honey,” Mom replied. “Can I go?” Lukas asked. “No, I don’t think so. Not today,” Mom replied. “Thanks, Mom,” I said. Dee and I gave her hugs, and then Keith, Damian, Dee and I were gone. Damian and I climbed into the back seat while Dee and Keith sat in the front. Dee put her iPod in the music player, and Damian and I were blasted with music soon. “Doesn’t Keith have a girlfriend?” I whispered to Damian. “It’s complicated,” he whispered back. “Hey, you two,” Keith said, “six inches!” I made a face at him when he wasn’t looking. “Real mature, Jenny,” Dee said. “Thanks,” I replied sweetly. “Love bug!” Dee yelled. I quickly moved my leg. She laughed. “You don’t want any love today?” I shook my head emphatically. Damian and Keith looked confused. Dee explained, “It’s like slug bug, but it’s loving. You run your hand over their knee. Love bug.” Keith raised his eyebrows but focused on driving. Damian started laughing. “I think I’d prefer love bug any day!” he exclaimed, glaring at Keith. I assumed he’d gotten punched very hard in the past. Keith looked silently amused. I was starting to get suspicious with his silence. As I gave him directions, everyone else fell silent. For the rest of the thirty minute ride, nobody talked (except for Dee’s occasional “Oh, look at that Camero!” She is so obsessed). We drove slowly by Sweet Life, and I saw that all four parking spots were filled up. So, I told Keith to go around the corner to the music store and park. We took a short walk to Sweet Life. As we walked in, Damian’s eyes grew huge. “This – is – amazing!” he exclaimed. Dee and I laughed and agreed.

Oh CB you have no idea...about the Candy Store, that is You're pretty close with the other parts lol Here's something for bed (or morning, I suppose). We all ordered (Dee a cheesecake, Damian a tiramisu, Keith a chocolate mousse, and I a raspberry silk), and Keith went to get the order. Damian went to grab a table, and Dee pulled me aside. “Keith…um…” she started. “Yeah, I know,” I said. “Do you like him?” She bit her lip. “Preston-“ “This isn’t about Preston!” I said. “This is about Keith!” “Well, yeah, but…I don’t know. I’m confused.” She looked at me through her eyelashes. “Besides, what about you and Damian?” “What?” I asked, surprised. “He’s a nice guy.” “And he’s totally fallen for you! You should see how he looks at you! It’s so obvious!” “Ladies,” Keith said from behind me. I took my plate from him and thanked him, leading them to the table Damian was waiting patiently at. I sat down almost shyly. Damian leaned over and whispered, “Are you ok?” I nodded. “Yeah, I’m fine. Thanks, though.” He smiled. The warmth in his eyes was incredible. “Hey,” Keith said in between bites, “what did I tell you two in the car? Six inches! I don’t trust their whispering,” he muttered. Damian sat back. I could feel my face going red. Dee winked at me. I glared at her, and feeling, no repentance from her, kicked her under the table. She yelped. “Are you ok?” Keith looked alarmed. So sweet. I smiled wickedly. “Yeah, I’m fine,” she said, glaring at me. Keith rolled his eyes. “No fighting, girls. Please. I’m going to need an aspirin.” Dee said mockingly, “Oh, poor baby! Are you sure you’ll be all right?” Keith glared at her. “I’ll be fine,” he said. I could tell he was trying not to laugh. “By the way, this is amazing.” Dee smiled. “Jenny showed it to me.” I nodded proudly. We ate in silence. Keith finished his mousse and said, “Do they have takeout here?” I nodded. “Sure. Just tell them it’s to go.” “Thanks,” he said and disappeared. Damian looked at Dee with amusement in his eyes. “I assume you know-“ “Sure,” she interrupted nervously. “I only wish I knew what I was going to do about it.” She sighed dramatically. “How old are you?” Damian asked. “Guess.” “Uh, I don’t think so, I’ve been surprised before,” he said, glancing ruefully at me. “She’s seventeen,” I said, taking pity on him. Dee glared at me. “You two are best friends, and you’re three years older than her?” Damian asked Dee, the surprise showing on his face. “Yup,” Dee answered. “What’s wrong with that?” “Nothing, it’s just – are people often best friends with age gaps in America?” “What are we talking about?” Keith asked, returning with a box. “Best friends and ages,” Dee replied shortly. “And no,” she said to Damian. “But this is a special case,” she said, smiling at me. “Wow,” Keith said. “Uh, is everybody ready to go?” We all laughed and cleared our table. Then we left. Riding back, Dee and Keith talked while Damian and I held a separate conversation. “So,” Damian asked, “can you tell me what’s really bothering you? I got the feeling you didn’t want to discuss it in front of Keith.” “Oh,” I said. “Um, it really was nothing. Don’t worry about it.” The way he was studying my face made it turn red (again!). “Can I tell you something?” he asked abruptly. “Sure,” I replied. “What?” “Your eyes are very pretty. I love how there’s a purple rim outside the brown,” he smiled. I just smiled back. “Thank you,” I said simply. Then I stopped talking to listen to Dee’s and Keith’s conversation. “Your full name is Delanie?” Keith was saying. Dee nodded. “Yes it is. My mom named me after a character on a TV show. And it was a guy character!” Damian and Keith both started laughing. Dee looked behind her. “Hey! No eavesdropping!” she said. “It’s not easy to not eavesdrop, we’re in the backseat of a car,” I pointed out to her. “Besides, it’s fun to eavesdrop on you.” Damian shook his head. “Do you two always argue?” “No,” we both answered indignantly. Suddenly, a song started ringing out. Damian and I looked at Keith. “Oh! Damo, can you answer it?” “Who is it?” Damian asked, taking the phone. “Rebecca,” Keith said. Damian opened the phone. “Hey, Becca?” he said. “Yeah, he’s driving. Ok. Talk to you later.” He hung up. “She says that she misses you and to call her when you have the chance. And that she loves you.” Keith smiled. “I miss her so much.” “Who?” Dee asked. “My sister,” Keith replied. “We’re really close.” “Oh,” Dee said. She looked relieved. I could hear her thoughts. “Preston. Keith. Preston. Keith.” I shook my head in amusement. Her love life is constantly in a turmoil. I looked at Damian and noticed he was rolling his eyes. We smiled at each other, knowing that we were thinking the same thing. “Hey!” Dee exclaimed. I wondered if she had seen us. “We should go through Coburg!” “Ok, sure,” Keith said, following her directions. I held my breath. "Oh no, not Coburg," I muttered.

Here's the next update for ya'll! To clear up any confusion, Sweet Life is the best bakery in Oregon. Or the world for that matter. It's not a candy store lol just serves cake and ice cream. And donuts? I don't know, we usually just get the cake If you ever happen to be in Eugene area, message me and I will let you know where Sweet Life is Damian looked concerned. “What’s wrong with Coburg?” he asked. “The speed limit,” I answered abruptly. And we were in the flashiest car south of Salem! I hoped that the cops were feeling lazy that day. We drove through without a hitch, and I could breathe easily again. I was positive Sharon would not want Keith to get a ticket for going three miles per hour over the speed limit. As we rode home, I relaxed. Whatever was going on between Dee and Keith could wait. And Damian – well, whatever that was could wait as well. We pulled up outside my house and got out of the car, laughing. “Thanks so much for the ride!” Dee said to Keith. “No problem,” Keith said, smiling down at her. “Thanks for all the information on Cameros.” Dee looked at him suspiciously. “Did you really like that?” she asked. “Most people don’t.” Damian and I left them talking and walked inside. Mom was making lunch. She said, “Hi! Did you have fun?” We both nodded. Damian said, “I think I’m hooked!” Mom laughed. “Are Damian and Keith still outside?” We nodded, and she continued, “Nathan and Lukas are upstairs on the Xbox. I think that they’re playing College Hoops. I could be wrong.” We thanked her and went upstairs. Nathan and Lukas were leaning forward on the couch, playing Madden. “Yes!” Nathan yelled. “Touchdown!” Lukas looked crestfallen. “Hey, guys,” I said. They both looked up. Lukas said, “Hi, Damian!” He paused the game. “This is my buddy, Nathan.” Nathan stood up to give me a hug and to shake Damian’s hand. “Hey, I’ve heard so much about you,” he said, glancing at Lukas, who looked completely innocent. Damian laughed. “I’ll bet you have.” “Do you want to play?” Lukas asked Damian. “Sure,” he said. Lukas gave him his controller. It proved to be a hard match. People were yelling, Dee came up to give Lukas and Nathan and me a hug good bye, and Keith was shouting encouragement in Gaelic. Damian lost by seven eventually. Nathan looked proud. Mom yelled up the stairs, “Whoever wants lunch, come and get it!” There was a stampede down the steps (Jeffrey finally came out of his room). Mom had made spaghetti for us all. “Hey, Nathan,” Lukas said, “this sauce almost matches your hair!” Nathan laughed and retorted, “My hair isn’t that red, Lukas!” Good natured bickering floated around the table as everyone ate. When lunch was over, Mom stood up and announced, “I’m going to Nita’s for a while. Don’t set anything on fire when I’m gone.” Damian and Keith looked at each other. “Paul.” Mom looked at them. “I want to hear this story when I get back!” She laughed. “But later!” And she left. Lukas and Jeffrey cleaned up the kitchen while Keith, Damian, Nathan and I sat around and talked. When they were done, we decided to play a game of Apples to Apples. We had to teach Damian and Keith how to play. In the middle of the mirth-filled game, Keith’s phone went off. Again. It was Paul. We waited for him to finish the conversation so that we could keep playing. Finally, he hung up. “I’m going back to the apartments. Paul needs me for something; I’m not sure what. Damian, do you want to come?” “No,” Damian said. Keith smiled. “OK, see everyone later. Nice to meet you, Nathan!” He looked at Jeffrey. “Bye, Jeffrey!” Then he left. Jeffrey looked confused. “Why does he talk to me so much?” We all started laughing again at this statement. We then proceeded to finish our game. After the game ended in threats and much stealing of each others’ cards, Nathan announced that he had baseball practice. He left after everybody said good-bye. We cleaned up our game and everyone promised to never tell who won and by how much. We had to make Nathan promise later. When all was in order again, we sat around and talked for about an hour. I don’t ever remember what about. Damian said sometime later, “Well, I should probably go.” He stood up. Jeffrey, Lukas, and I all stood up as well. Jeffrey and Lukas said, “Good-bye, Damian!” and went upstairs. We just looked at each other for a moment. Next thing I knew, he was pulling me into a hug. “Thank you for a wonderful day,” he murmured into my hair. “It was perfect.” I pulled away. “You’re welcome,” I replied. He was smiling broadly at me. “And thank you. I had fun, too.” He nodded and smiled again. Then he left. I could see him walking down the street. I went upstairs. Lukas was waiting at the top. “Did he kiss you?” he asked. “What?!” I said. “No! he did not!” “I was just curious,” Lukas complained as he walked into his room. I stared after him, my cheeks burning. Did I want Damian to kiss me? I wondered. I shook my head. I needed to do my math homework. I struggled through my trigonometry, desperately wishing I knew what was going on. What was the recursive formula for… Why did Mr. Moore torture us this way?

Sorry it's been a while, but here's the update for ya'll. Have fun!!! Why did Mr. Moore torture us this way? Mom came up to my room and stared at me in astonishment. “You’re doing homework? At the beginning of Spring Break?” What’s wrong?” I bit my lip. “It’s hard to explain,” I slowly said. “Is it Damian?” That woman is a genius. I nodded. She smiled sympathetically. “You’ll get through it. Have you told your sister about meeting Celtic Thunder?” I shook my head. “I will right now.” Mom smiled. “You’ll be OK.” She kissed the top of my head and walked downstairs. I grabbed my phone and texted Rachelle. “Oh, my goodness, I met most of the Celtic Thunder lads!”, and continued with my math. My phone buzzed two minutes later. “WHAT? Why did I move this year? Which guys and why are they here?” I laughed and called my sister, abandoning my math homework for the time being, at least. When my sister and I stopped talking, I sighed. She had pried every bit of information from me. She wanted Dee to start going out with Keith, and Damian to go out with me. I needed to clear my head. I went to Lukas’s room and said, “Do you want to finish the game we started?” Lukas looked at me with wide eyes. “Sure. I’m going to win!” “You’re on!” I declared as we ran down the stairs and outside. When we had finished, we sat down, breathless and laughing. “Told you I’d win!” Lukas said, very proud of himself. I stuck my tongue at him. “Just because you can shoot threes. Not fair!” I smoothed down my hair and laughed. “You should have seen your face when I finally made that one!” Lukas said thoughtfully, “I wonder how good Damian and Keith are at basketball.” I stared as two people approached. “Ryan and Emmett,” I murmured. “What? Oh, sure, I wonder how good they are, too,” Lukas agreed. Then he saw what I was looking at. “Oh. Ryan and Emmett. Hi!” he called, waving. They both waved back. “Hello!” Emmett called out. “Do you want to play?” Lukas asked. I gave him marks for asking them outright. After all, he didn’t even know them! Emmett and Ryan glanced at each other. Emmett shrugged. “I don’t care.” Ryan smiled. “All right, then. What are the teams?” Lukas picked up his basketball. “Emmett and Jenny. Ryan and me. Rules are that threes are allowed, dunks are allowed, and fouls will be called. But nobody can foul out!” he declared. Everybody agreed to those rules and we started playing. It was a tough game, unevenly matched. Lukas and Ryan played the outside while Emmett and I were posts. Ryan and Lukas won, sinking so many threes that Emmett and I couldn’t catch up with our post moves. When the game was officially declared over, we all went into the house. We were sweating and thirsty. I was taking as drink when Emmet caught my eye. He made a rueful face. “That was not the shining moment I wanted to meet you with,” he confessed readily, taking a drink. Ryan winked at me and chuckled. “Each time I’ve met you, I was exercising!” he said. I smiled. “That was fun. And don’t you dare tell anyone how much you beat us by!” I glared at Lukas. “All right, bro?” Lukas kept mysteriously silent. I glared at him until I was certain he got my point. Mom’s door opened suddenly, scraping against the door jamb as it always does. Emmett and Ryan jumped. Mom walked out. “Hi, guys!” Surprise was on her face yet again. “How many are you going to bring over?” she whispered to me. I rolled my eyes good-naturedly. “Mom!” Lukas exclaimed. “We just finished our basketball game! It was so much fun, and Ryan and Emmett played with us!” Mom smiled. “That’s awesome! Who won?” Silence. Mom laughed. “Oh, that bad?” Emmett nodded vigorously. “It was a horrible game! Jenny and I had no chance against them.” I shot him a “be quiet” look. It was difficult,” I conceded. Lukas snorted. “Huh. As I recall-” “Lukas,” Mom interrupted gently, “I got the feeling Jenny doesn’t want to talk about it. Anyway,” she said brightly, “Grammy and Papa will be here soon. They’re going to have dinner with us, so we need extra plates. Are you eating with us?” she asked Ryan and Emmett. Ryan brightened. “It won’t be popcorn, will it?” he asked. “No, it won’t,” Mom answered. “Why would we need plates for popcorn?” Lukas asked Ryan. “I was just making sure,” Ryan said. “When you’ve eaten as much popcorn as I have…” he shuddered. “It doesn’t taste good after a while.” Emmett spoke up. “I would be very happy to accept your invitation to dinner. Count me in, Mrs…?” Call me Debbie,” Mom answered. She started making dinner with Ryan’s help. Emmett, Lukas, and I all sat around, talking about anything from basketball to movies to languages. I discovered that Emmett knew some Spanish, so we had a simple conversation until Lukas put a stop to that. When the front door opened, I looked up, expecting to see Grammy and Papa. I did, but Damian and Paul were with them. Damian and Papa were talking about the “March Madness”, while Grammy and Paul were talking about Ireland. “Hello!” Grammy called out. We all yelled “hi” back, and Jeffrey came downstairs. Ryan came out of the kitchen, and Grammy’s eyes got wider slightly. Papa nudged her, and her eyes relaxed. Hugs were going around, when Paul announced, “Ryan, Sharon asks you to call her. She wants to have dinner with you this evening.” Ryan nodded and pulled out his phone. Paul looked at the crowded room. “I should probably get back and make my own dinner. Damian, Emmett, are you coming?” Emmett shook his head gratefully. I saw my mom melt as Damian turned on her pleadingly. “No, Emmett and Damian are staying for dinner,” Mom announced. “Have fun tonight, Paul. Are you alone tonight?” “No, George is there, but Keith has a date.” Paul rolled his eyes as if he was thinking “why would anyone want to have a date with him?” I looked at Damian and raised my eyebrows slightly. He shook his head. So it wasn’t Dee. I didn’t know if that was good or bad. Ryan came back over to us. “All right, I’m off,” he said. “Thanks for the basketball game and the conversations!” He and Paul said good bye and left. I noticed that Grammy seemed slightly disappointed. We all talked until Mom called, “Dinner’s ready!”
