Mackenzie was speechless, for a moment. Despite her saying she didn’t like when he asked her permission to do things, that’s exactly what he decided to do when it came to going home the following weekend. Which was a good thing to as she didn’t seem so quick to agreeing as she had in the past. Keith could tell this was going to be an interesting conversation. “You were just home, though, Keith…” She finally said in a small voice. “Well, not JUST home, I know it’s been a few weeks… But you know… it wasn’t long ago.” Keith laughed a little, trying not to look worried. Was Dana right? Would his girlfriend start wondering about his visits? Would she start being upset with his friendship with Dana? He didn’t like that thought. “It’s been about 3 weeks since I last visited, Kenz. Besides, I got invited out to play at a pub back home by a bunch of mates.” He had, but he’d expected he was going to decline, it until now. Another reason was always helpful in this situation. “I miss them, anyways.” “Do you miss Dana?” He blinked. She had to ask that this soon into this discussion? Already he was sure this conversation was not going to be reaching the girl in question’s ears. “’Course.” Lying would get him nowhere here, “She is a friend, isn’t she? You said you think she’s sweet, right? Don’t you miss her, a bit?” Mackenzie paused, thinking about that. She made a little face like she was cursing her own thoughts, “Of course I do, Keith. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to sound… that was stupid.” “You’re not stupid, Kenz. Don’t worry.” He petted her hair down, smiling, trying to hold back a relieved sigh. “But I shouldn’t be getting upset about you missing home, when that’s completely natural. And I see you all the time! I just – I dunno…” She sighed. “I miss you when I’m gone too, love. It’s nothing to be upset about, I understand.” He didn’t want to leave if Mackenzie was upset about it, whether she was upset with him or Dana or herself, it was not the way to leave her for a weekend. She shook her head, looking like she wanted to argue that with him, but decided against it, “Well, could you wait until NEXT weekend, then, Keith? Because, I mean, this weekend I finally had some off time from work, and I was kinda hoping the two of us could spend time together, y’know… we don’t get to that often.” Oh… crap. Keith sighed, wondering what on earth he’d found himself in. He didn’t want to stand Dana up when he’d promised her he’d visit that weekend. But he’d finally talked his girlfriend OUT of her silly confused half-jealous thoughts. Telling her he’d rather go home than go out with her would be taking way too many steps in the wrong direction. Besides, it wasn’t like that was the case… he would love to be out with her… just… not that weekend. He realized she was waiting on him to speak, and cursed the fact that he really had nothing to say. “Kenzie…” He said slowly, “I was really, I kinda planned – it was supposed to be this weekend.” Her already small smile faded, and he really just wanted to hit himself. Dana was not going to be happy with him, if she heard how this went. “Oh.” God, he needed to say SOMETHING to end on a good note. Without thinking or planning he took both her hands and looked at her seriously, “Kenzie, come with me.” “Keith…” “I’m serious, love. I can’t change that my plans to come back this weekend, and I can’t deny that I would LOVE to spend the time with you. So, really, why not?” She looked away and glanced back at him, a smile growing back in full force, “Alright, Keith. You have a deal.” Well, THAT was easy. But as that weekend appeared and the two were already on the road, far too far to turn back, her characteristic doubt came returned. “You’ll be with your friends…” “Friends that love you too, Kenz. And if you want, while I’m playing with some of my mates you can spend time with Dana.” He wasn’t sure what Dana would think of all that, but he needed those two to get along so everything would be that much easier for him. “Does Dana like me?” She asked suddenly. What kind of question was that? “Yes, she likes ya, love. Why wouldn’t she?” His girlfriend opened her mouth and then closed it, “No reason. I was just wondering, I mean we’re not a lot alike. I don’t know what we’d talk about.” “You’re both artists, that’s something in itself.” He wondered how someone could not think of something to talk to Dana about. She was just, full of conversation, at least to him. She sighed, like he’d missed a point, “I suppose you’re right.” And she said nothing more as they pulled into his small hometown. “Keith!” Dana laughed, flying out of the door before he’d even made his way to the front steps. She had paint covering her clothing and some smudged on her cheeks. She tossed her arms around him with no restraint, “Geez! You should have called when you were coming – I woulda cleaned myself up!” He rolled his eyes, “You know I don’t care, Dana, love. I’m dating a painter, remember?” He laughed, peeling her off to grin, “How’ve you been?” “Lovely! Really, really lov-“ She trailed off looking past him. He turned to see Mackenzie walking up behind them, smiling politely. “Hello there Dana.” She said. Keith wondered if he was the only one who noticed the pause before she softly replied, “Hi Kenzie.” Her tone hadn’t changed, not noticeably anyways, “Keith finally get you out here, did he?” She shot him a brief look that surely held more meaning than he could understand. He gave her a barely visible shrug. “Yes, I suppose you could say he did.” She beamed at Keith, then looked back at her. “May I see the house? It probably looks a million times better than when Keith owned it!” He would have normally commented but he was too busy trying to read through the looks his friend had given him before she said, still in that externally cheerful tone. “Of course you may!” And led her into the house, leaving Keith wondering just how much trouble he’d found himself in now.

We interrupt our normally scheduled program to bring you;
DANA'S POINT OF VIEW!
Dana supposed somewhere in Keith Harkin’s crazy little mind, he thought he was being smart. And so, she could not fault him for it. No matter how much she really wanted to hate him right then. Then she hated Mackenzie, for an instant. And then hated herself for the rest of the day for that idiotic moment. She hated herself for her pure selfishness right then, for her strong want for this visit to have been between only her self and Keith. Keith, who was Mackenzie’s boyfriend. Keith, who had irrevocably stolen Dana’s heart from the first smile he’d given her. She hated herself for having fallen for him. It wasn’t like he’d never mentioned his girlfriend before… she made it into the conversations they had pretty regularly, actually. But not even a minute after her name was mentioned Dana had forgotten all about it, having lost herself in his goofy conversation, or the sound of his laugh, or his way of off-handedly pushing back his mop of blonde hair to look at her better through those turquoise eyes of his. And just as Dana began to entertain the idea of being his girl, or three little words danced on the tip of her tongue, it was time for the name ‘Mackenzie’ to make it’s appearance again and start the whole process over. Like some merry-go-round roller coaster from heck. But Mackenzie was here, which meant she was okay with Keith coming. Or perhaps this had been her condition. Perhaps she hadn’t wanted Keith and Dana alone together. She hid a sigh as she showed the beautiful young woman throughout her home. She had every right to be against that, it was a perfectly normal reaction. Even though Keith saw himself as her older brother, Dana knew his girl wouldn’t get that distinction and in the end… She shook that away. She wasn’t giving the lad enough credit. He wasn’t as stupid as she had been, and maybe that meant this friendship wouldn’t go up in flames, and neither would his relationship with Mackenzie. Just maybe, she wouldn’t ruin his life. “You alright, Dana?” Keith’s voice cut in her thoughts. Mackenzie was looking at her painting room. He was grinning at her, all bright eyes and adorable dimples. Worry and distress and self-loathing evaporated. She smiled back, “I’m fine. Just kinda spaced out for a second.” “I could see that.” She rolled her eyes, “Do you think Kenz likes it here?” He shrugged, glancing over her shoulder at where his girlfriend looked through paintings, “For it being the exact opposite of her style, she appears to like it just fine.” She laughed a little. She didn’t understand how a guy like him and a girl like her were together. It wasn’t that Mackenzie wasn’t a total DOLL, but really… that whole ‘opposites-attract’ was manifested in that one pair. “Well, I’m glad. I’m glad you talked her into coming out, you seem so happy to have her here.” “This is her third time seeing my home.” He commented, still smiling, “And we’ve been together over a year. I suppose you could say I’m happy to have her out here.” A little guilt seeped in her again, but she wouldn’t let it get far. “Well, I don’t understand that at all. If I’d only come here once… well, I did. And I ended up moving here… if that says anything.” “Well, I’m glad for you and Kenzie’s differences more than ever. If you hadn’t moved here, I’d never have met ya.” He shook his head in wonder, “Can hardly imagine that.” Her heart skipped but before she could say any sort of remark back Mackenzie entered the conversation again. “Dana, these are all so wonderful! I could never do anything like this!” She smiled, genuinely, at her. She, for once, was welcoming the interruption, “Oh, well I could never do anything like your things!” She said truthfully, “Do you have a favorite piece?” At least that was something she could share with the girl. She debated then disappeared again. The painting she brought back made Dana nearly choke in surprise. It was her Castles in the Air. Her Keith painting, as she called it in private. She heard the man who had inspired it laugh beside her, and she exchanged a look with him. She rolled her eyes again, but relaxed into a smile. Mackenzie didn’t get it, “What? Is something wrong with this one?” “Oh no!” Dana laughed, “Nothing wrong with it at all! It’s actually my favorite one I’ve ever done.” Keith dramatically raised an eyebrow, looking flattered, “Favorite, y’say?” “I had some good inspiration.” “I’m not gonna ask.” Mackenzie laughed, snapping them out of their moment. If there’d even been a moment. There shouldn’t have been a moment. What was wrong with her? She gave the girl all her attention again. “Good plan.” She smiled, “Now, look…” She glanced out and noticed it had once again started raining. Down pouring more like. “Do you both… ehm… do you want to stay here tonight? I mean,” Goodness, Dana, and she called Keith an eejit. “I mean I do only have two bedrooms here, but the couch folds out, so I can jus-“ Mackenzie cut her off by more laughter, “Dana, hun, Keith and I live together, and have been together more than a year. I think we’ll be okay spending a night in the same bedroom. It’s not the first time.” Dana found herself looking out the window again, hoping her face wasn’t as red as it felt, as more images went through her head there than were really needed. Really. “Right.” She said, uncomfortably, “Um, well, if it’s okay with you both I’m gonna go out for a run. I can make dinner when I get back.” “You’re letting us stay with you, least we can do is make dinner, right, Keith?” Keith nodded before saying, “Dana, you really want to run now? It’s not exactly a bright evening.” She felt selfish again, but she really needed to clear her head a bit. She wasn’t acting herself, and Keith obviously noticed. He didn’t need to worry about her. His mind should stay on his girl. She nodded, “I’ll be back in a few hours or so. Talk to you later!” And after the happy couple gave their similar statements, she left out the front into the cascade of water.
Keith will be back tomorrow. ^_^

The next morning Dana was herself again. Keith really wondered what had her all quiet the day before. Okay, maybe he didn’t. She was obviously upset that he’d brought Mackenzie with, without telling her. He knew Dana, he knew she liked his girlfriend just fine, but was still plenty uncomfortable around her, as they were really nearly exact opposites. She’d been expecting a relaxed weekend with her friend, like she was used to, and he just tossed Mackenzie into the equation. That would definitely be enough to make her awkward. He almost wanted to apologize for the situation he’d put her in when he found her in the kitchen the next morning. Mackenzie had woken, and was now out for a run, herself, while it was fairly dry. But she seemed so much more… like… Dana. He didn’t want to bring it up again, if she was putting it behind her. “Morning, Mr. Harkin.” She said brightly, from a stove. He smelt eggs and grinned. “Good morning, Dana, love. You didn’t have to cook, y’know?” She turned to him, smiling her upbeat, beautiful grin, “I live alone, Keith. I cook for myself everyday, so you don’t have to make this sound like it’s some big deal. But, if you really don’t want it.” She let out a little dejected sigh, “I suppose I’ll have to eat all of this myself. Such a shame, it smells reaaaaaaaaaally good.” He laughed, “Oh no, no, no. You went to all this trouble. LEAST I could do is e-“ He cut off when Dana sneezed. Safely turning her head away from the eggs. He began to say ‘bless you’ when she sneezed again. And again. And again. After about the 5th one he paused for a second. “You finished?” She stuck her tongue out at him, but nodded. “Then, bless you, Dana. You alright?” Dana sniffed experimentally, then sighed, “I think so. Didn’t wake up feeling the best.” “You seem fine.” Keith replied. SEEMED fine was probably the better tense now that he thought about it. “Cold medicine works wonders.” She replied smoothly. He beamed, “Well I hope you feel better. No fun being out here if you’re sick the whole time.” “I’m sure you and Kenz could stay busy.” “Ah, but I didn’t come out here to see Kenzie, you know.” He winked at her. Dana sighed, “Don’t let her hear that, eejit.” “It’s true!” “All the more reason!” She said louder, before coughing. Her tone lowered again, “Keith, I’m flattered that you came to visit me and all that but please!” He held his hands up in surrender, not wanting to get her any more irritated with him. It was nerve wrecking. “Alright, Dana! I didn’t plan on telling Kenzie anything like that either. You can trust me, alright?” Taking the eggs off the stove and scooping them into a bowl, she didn’t look at him for a moment. Then, she was smiling at him again, “Alright, Mr. Harkin.” Another cough, “You’re too easy to like sometimes.” “And again with the backwards compliments of yours!” He pushed his hair back and laughed. “Oh you enjoy them.” He shook his head, but she was right, “Aye aye. It’s one of many things I enjoy about you, Dana.” Her face went a little pink and she mumbled “Eejit” again before pushing a plate of eggs before him, as he was now sitting. “Just eat before something else idiotic leaves your lips.” Keith laughed, and gave her a little salute, “Yes, ma’am!” Dana rolled her eyes, and grabbed another plate to sit across from him at, before another coughing fit took her. He cocked his head to the side, looking at her seriously, “You sure you’re okay?” She looked paler, after her last blush, and yet her nose looked pink. She looked like the stereotypical person with a cold, which was unintentionally adorable. She coughed once more but shook her head, “I’m fine, Keith. Just a little cold that’s all. You were probably right.” “Right?” He’d spaced out for a moment, wondering if he could do anything for her. “About running in the rain, last night.” She explained. Oh, yes. That. “Not such an eejit, am I?” He grinned, “But really, if it gets worse you should probably stay in today.” Dana made a face, “I don’t want to s-“ Sneeze. She blinked and then laughed a little at herself. Keith rested his cheek in his hand, and smiled at her. Good God, she was so cute sometimes. “Oh stop smiling at me like that.” She replied, “It’s creeping me out.” He tried to fight down the smile and failed miserably, “Sorry, not much I can do about that.” “Well, fine, if you’re not going to stop being creepy you can leave.” She giggled. “What?” “I’m not your ONLY friend back home Keith. Obviously. Yet, I’m the only one you’ve seen since your return.” She said meaningfully, “Go, go spend a few hours in the pub or something.” “You are the first girl to have ever told me to do that.” He said slowly. She laughed, “I don’t doubt it! So, go take advantage of-“ Another sneeze, two, three, “Of it…” Keith laughed as well, “Dana, if you promise you’ll go lay down or something, I’ll go.” “Can’t do that. I’ll have to entertain Kenzie in your absence.” “Kenz isn’t a puppy, you don’t need to watch her or anything. If anything, she should make watch you. Make sure you don’t get any worse.” “I’m not a puppy either.” She rolled her eyes. He just raised his eyebrows and finally she sighed, “But thank you for being worried, Keith. It’s sweet.” Happy with that he nodded and stood up, and gently petted down her white-blonde hair. “Alright, Dana, love. I’ll be back in a few hours or something. Rest up.” “You are such an older brother.” He grinned, “Later Dana.” Walking out, he just barely walked into Mackenzie. “Keith.” She looked surprised, “You’re up? Where ya headed already, today?” He beamed at her, “Just agreed to spend sometime with mates for a few hours. That is why I came out, after all…” He at least learned not to specify things more than needed. Dana would be proud. She blinked, “Do you want me to come with?” She didn’t sound very thrilled. He hid his laughter. “No, that’s fine, love. Actually, it might be better if you stayed.” She raised her eyebrows and he continued, “Dana. She’s sick, and getting worse, I think. I don’t really like the idea of her home alone with that.” Mackenzie blinked, looking inside just as he heard another coughing fit take the young woman, “Oh… right. That wouldn’t be good.” “So you’ll stay with her then? I’ll only be gone a couple hours.” “Of course.” She replied, with a small smile, “Talk to you later, Keith. Have fun.” And with that, she pushed gently past him into the house.

“I’m sensing a cat fight in the near future.” Damian laughed when it was explained where the two women in Keith’s life were. It was surprising how many of the lads were out in the tiny town that day. Keith hadn’t thought they’d known he was coming, but he supposed there was some grapevine of information he didn’t really need to know the details of. In any case, along with his usual mates, he sat alongside Damian, Neil, and Paul. He laughed, “Over me? Really, Damo… that’s flattering but-“ He cut off when the dark haired lad punched him, not entirely playfully, in the arm, “Hey! I’m just saying, you’re givin’ me too much credit. Besides, this is Dana we’re talking about. She’s called me an older brother figure more than once. I don’t think you have to worry about her fighting over me or anything like that.” Why was it everyone got on to this topic around him? Were they THAT worried about him stupidly messing up? He didn’t really want to think about that. Neil chuckled a little, “I think we’re talking more about your girlfriend.” “What? Kenzie?” “That WOULD be your girlfriend, Keith.” Paul said dryly. Earning him a whack, as well. “I know that, idiot. I just mean, how many times do I have to tell yous not to worry about the two of them?” “You know we’re just helpin’ ya.” Damian replied, still grinning. He shook his head, “Nothin’ to really help with. But thank you anyways.” “So Kenzie felt like staying home,” Paul prompted, but his tone light. The almost continuous lecturing seemed to be over for the time being, thank God. “But why didn’t Dana come out? She’s normally all for going out more than Kenz is.” Keith sighed a little, trying not to think too much on how true that was. Dana and him did have a whole lot more in common and the more he thought about it, the more it occurred to him. He really wished she’d come out today. Which, of course, reminded him why she didn’t. “She was getting a cold, real bad one. I didn’t want her to go out anywhere, and she didn’t want me staying and making sure she was okay. So she didn’t come out.” He sighed, “Another reason I’m glad Kenz stayed behind – I don’t like leaving her alone.” “That’s a wee bit more than friend like behavior, y’know.” Neil had said it but the other two nodded like they’d been ready to say the exact same thing, had they not been beat to it. Ready to argue that, Keith paused and had to admit the bit of correctness in their statements. So, he had other friends that were girls, like the Sephira girls, among other friends from his home. And he’d be lying to say he wouldn’t worry about their health either. But probably not so extreme as it was with Dana… but he didn’t know what he could say to that. So Dana was a close friend, she was still his friend. “I suppose not, but like I said she considers me her brother, kinda.” Was the only reply he could come up with. Though, having said that he suddenly didn’t like that thought as much as he thought he used to. Dana was wonderful, really wonderful, and certainly close to him. But, not like a sister. And he didn’t know how to explain that. So he didn’t. Thankfully that appeared to please everyone. “As long as Kenzie knows that.” Paul added, before the topic officially moved to something safer and lighter. After a few hours, Keith’s plan of keeping his worry about Dana’s health at bay had failed miserably. Thankfully, it was far enough into the afternoon that he could easily tell his mates that he was past when he should be heading back to his girlfriend and friend without specifying why exactly. But he figured they may have guessed, “Tell Dana I hope she gets better.” Damian said, followed by similar statements. He nodded, and headed back to hi- rather, Dana’s home. Mackenzie sat in the kitchen, with a cup of tea, absently tapping the table. Seeing him enter, she sighed in what looked to be relief. “There you are. Was worried you were enjoying catching up with mates more than – well never mind.” She shook her head. He laughed a little before getting to the main question that came to mind, “Where’s Dana?” “In bed.” She replied, “Where she should probably stay for, like, a week.” “How is she?” His girlfriend tilted her head a little, but replied in the same tone, “Worse. A lot worse. She started getting dizzy about 10 minutes after you left. Half hour after that she’s shaking and has a fever of 103. She hasn’t spoke more than 2 sentences or ate a thing in the last 2 hours.” Keith took a deep breath, trying not to show how very worried he was. Why hadn’t she listened to him earlier? He had always been a fairly healthy person, and even when he was sick it had never really been that bad. He couldn’t imagine all the heck she must have been feeling that very instant. He hated it. Why couldn’t she have just stayed in? He ran his hand back through his hair, not sure what to say, and so Mackenzie spoke again. Her voice much softer, “Keith… I really need to be back to work tomorrow…” Oh, of course she did. He sighed. It was hard enough being in a different room from Dana with her doing this badly. Being in a different city over an hour away. He didn’t even want to think of it. What was he supposed to say, though? “I understand, love.” He took a breath, and without thinking pressed forward, “I’ll stay a few extra days, and bum a ride back.” “Stay…?” He shrugged, glancing in the direction of the miserably sick girl’s room, “She’s not exactly in a position where she can take care of herself, y’know? I’ll just hang ‘round until she’s well enough to move or somethin’…” She was quite for a moment, giving him a long look that held little actual emotion. But at last she gave a weak smile and nodded, “Right… I suppose that makes sense. Do you want to check on her then – I need to call work…” “Yes, I think I do.” He gave her a smile before going to see just how bad Dana was doing.
Oh Keith... at this point you've basically ruined it all. But that means story is almost over!! O.O

It was late that night. After Mackenzie had left for Dublin again, that Dana stirred. She couldn’t have been sleeping, he thought, she’d looked far too miserable all that evening to have ever had sleep claim her. Seeing her hadn’t been good at all for his nerves. She was curled up on her side, covers pulled up to her chin, and yet shivering visibly beneath them. Her blonde hair was askew and looked especially white in the places where it was matted to her red and predictably sweaty forehead. Her breathing was harder and shallower and altogether she looked like death, and probably felt like it. Keith had been in and out of her room all evening, trying to keep himself busy, having no experience with dealing with someone ill. When Kenz didn’t feel well she popped a couple cold pills and pushed on. That was just how she treated it. He didn’t know if she would do that if she were THAT sick though. It was during one of his every 5 minute check ups on her, which were slowly becoming every 3 minutes, 2 minutes… and so on, when she coughed for the first time all night. Happy for some acknowledgment that she was still alive, he laid his hand on her forehead for about the 10th time. It was still as though he had his hand on a stove, unfortunately. But she sighed a little at his touch, which was probably cool and relaxing for her. After a second she opened her eyes a little. “Keith…” She murmured. He smiled, “How are you feelin’, love?” “Like heck, thanks for asking.” Her voice was weak and hoarse, but at least she had her humor still. His smile grew. “Can I get you anything?” “Water, if that’s okay.” She murmured, “And where’s Kenzie?” “She went back to Dublin this afternoon.” Dana’s eyes, which had sunk close again, snapped wide, “KEITH!” She snapped at him, causing a cough to rise up, sending her in another fit of painful sounding coughs. Keith curse himself. “I’m gonna get you your water, Dana.” He said and quickly did just that. When he came back in, she’d pushed herself up on her elbows slightly, looking mildly dizzy by doing so. She’d stopped coughing but still greedily gulped down the ice water brought. She gave him a weak smile. But she wasn’t done scolding him yet. “Keith.” Her voice incredibly serious, “You didn’t have to stay for me…” “Kenz was making it sound like you were dying, and truthfully, you looked it too. She told me she had to get to work tomorrow and there was no chance I was leaving you feeling the way you are.” “Eejit.” She whispered, but she kept her smile now, which made it all okay. “Not as much of an eejit who throws herself out in the middle of a rainstorm.” He grinned. “Oh shut up.” He laughed a little. He was glad she was speaking again. Watching her lay without change for hours was absolutely torturing. “Is there anything else you need?” He asked again, still a little worried about her. “Strange to see you so doting, Mr. Harkin.” She said in a rough voice before another cough, “Thank you, but I’m doing better now.” “You’re still hot.” She beamed, a little, “Well, thank you, Mr. Harkin, you aren’t bad yourself.” Keith tried not to laugh and failed miserably, “Dana, love, I think it’s time to lie down, again. You’re gettin’ a little goofy.” “Oh, but if I have to lay down every time I was goofy, I don’t think I’d ever get up.” She coughed another few times then yawned, “Ah, but I suppose you have a point. She dropped from her elbows on to her back again. Only to push herself up and pull some of her long hair back and drape it over a shoulder, groaning. “God, I need a hair cut.” She mumbled under her breath. “I love your hair.” He said simply. He never really paid too much attention to it, but it was indeed very beautiful. Dana beamed a little at him. He couldn’t tell if she was blushing, her face was red already. “Thank you, Keith.” He voice was quieter with exhaustion. She’d used up whatever energy she’d stored up just to talk. He was exhausted himself, a million emotions from today alone wearing him down. “Bedtime?” He asked, smiling. She closed her eyes and nodded. He rested his hand on her forehead once again, hoping there was some change, but if anything it was hotter. Sleep would help, hopefully though. “Then, g’night, Dana, love. I’ll be here tomorrow. If you need anything.” “Good night.” She replied softly, and he moved to the door. Before he reached it she spoke a little louder, “Keith?” “Hm?” “Thank you. You can be a total eejit, but thank you. A lot.” Before he could reply, she was asleep.
shorter but we're nearing awesomeness.

When Keith woke he had a strange feeling he assumed came from waking up in his house that was no longer his house. He didn’t think he’d ever really get used to that. Pulling himself out of bed the first clear thing that entered his mind was Dana. He could only hope sleep had done her a bit of good. And with that, he went to check on her again. She wasn’t in her room. Keith blinked. Far more worried than he wanted to admit, he checked her painting room, the kitchen, anywhere else she could be. Noticing the time he realized it was later in the morning than he’d thought. But still, she was in no condition to go out anywhere! Finally, he had the idea of where she would probably be. And was correct. She sat on their hill, despite the overcast skies, looking at nothing. It took him a second to realize it was her. Her back was to him and her once long blond hair now stopped just halfway down her neck. “Dana, you tryin’ to stay sick?” He asked incredulously, at last. She swiveled to face him at the sound of his voice. She didn’t look as sickly, certainly, but she didn’t have to push that. “I was doing better this morning, much better. And I was sick of staying in and doin’ nothing. I just got a haircut but decided to come out here for a bit too. You were asleep anyways.” He shook his head, and moved to sit beside her, “I know but ya shouldn’t be pushin’ yourself, or you’ll get worse – it looks like rain again.” “Keith, your worry is flattering, really it is, but I’ll be fine.” “You better be, Dana, love.” He replied, with a grin, “And next time leave a note or somethin’!” She smiled back at him, making her look healthier, and beautiful. She pushed her hair, still parted to fall over one eye, back a little, “Well, I didn’t think it was needed, and you proved that. You knew I’d be here.” “Well it is your favorite spot.” He beamed. “Yours as well.” “Can’t blame me.” He replied, without thinking “Got some lovely memories connected to right here.” Dana's smile dimpled and she said nothing. Keith looked at her for a moment but then turned his eyes back to the rolling hills, watching the distant lightening. He'd flick his eyes back to her occasionally wishing he had something to say. Finally he watched her run her fingers through her significantly shorter hair and remembered he had yet to comment on it. "I like your hair cut." He turned a little to her, grinning. She blushed a little, "Really? After cutting it I realize it looks better longer." "It looks great." "Thank you" she said softly, and then blushed deeper with him as he had absentmindedly lifted his hand to stroke some of the hair that framed her chin. He tried to make that sudden act casual, "It's funny though." He commented, "It's shorter than mine." Now he felt her hand play with his own hair, just above his shoulders. "You're right." She said, "It is." Keith had no idea what to say to that, as just then he forgot what they had even been talking about a moment ago. All that registered in his mind was his hand, now cupping Dana's cheek, and her hand resting on the back of his neck. And her blue eyes, surprisingly close... and her lips... And before he knew what he was doing he had taken her soft lips with his own. She pulled back, not very fast and not very far, and whispered his name in a warning tone. But no warning followed and she was kissing him again... or was he kissing her? Either way, no second interruption came. Dana's hand moved further behind his head and urged his mouth closer as he moved his one hand from her cheek to lock it in her own soft hair. That moment thunder cracked directly above their heads and a second later a cascade of rain drenched them. He didn't know if Dana even noticed. She didn't jump or pull away at the sudden cold water that surrounded them. In fact the only change she gave was lifting her other hand to his cheek and kissing him harder, putting all of her weight on him. With his mind too jumbled to possible think right Keith reached up with his other hand to mirror her actions. Too late he remembered that hand was what he'd put all HIS weight on to keep him sitting. Too late and they both fell backwards on to the wet grass, their embrace never breaking. He dislodged his hand from her hair to come around her waist, helping position where she was now laying nearly on top of him already. The feeling of her wet shirt was the only thing that made Keith remember the rain. There was nothing in his mind right then, but Dana. Dana’s lips, gently parted against his, Dana’s hands on either side of his face, her fingers tangled in his wet hair as the kiss stretched on. He felt dizzy. He felt happy. He felt more things right then than he had at any point leading to that moment. He didn’t want to let go, end this kiss, more passionate than any he’d ever had. It was at the next explosion of thunder, realizing what he’d just thought, that everything came back to him. His eyes shot open to meet Dana’s wide blue ones, as it was clear the same thoughts, or rather, thought, occurred to her. Her lips had stilled against his and after a second she pushed herself off of him, shaking. Keith sat up slowly, never taking his eyes off of her. She was staring at him, soaked from the rain, her expression terrified. Like horror movie terrified. He supposed she had right to be. He, himself, had absolutely no idea what to think. No clue how to feel. The only thing clear to him was that not a minute ago, his mind had been only on Dana, on kissing her, feeling a million things and certainly not wanting to stop. And he was certain that her thoughts at that moment had mimicked his. Their thoughts had only been on each other. But now, looking at her, he could tell they were both thinking of the exact same person. Mackenzie.

The rain was the kind that wouldn’t let up for days probably. Continuously pelting the ground until it was nearly flooded. Keith knew they should go inside. Being out in the pouring rain was what had led to Dana getting sick. Which had led to… to what had just happened. He pushed himself to his feet, numbly, and then reached a hand down to help Dana up. She shook her head slowly, her eyes still wide and attempted to push herself to her feet without his help. She failed, slipping on the waterlogged grass and nearly falling back down. Keith grabbed her arm quickly, helping her steady herself. She looked at him for a long moment before pulling her arm away, face red. She looked at her feet, now. What on earth was he supposed to say to her? He couldn’t even think about what had just happened, much less talk about it? And she wouldn’t want to talk about it either, he knew that for a fact. But – but something like- what they did… he felt they needed to say SOMETHING… anything really… “C’mon,” He sighed at last, “We should get inside.” Dana only nodded. She stood just in the doorway out of the rain while he went and grabbed a pair of towels for them to dry off. She took one from him and began to dry off her hair, still not looking at him. He needed to say SOMETHING. “Dana…” He began quietly but before he could press on she sneezed, and he decided to say something else, “You should go back to bed. I don’t- I don’t want you to get sick again – you were just getting better. She nodded again, looking him in the eyes again. She still looked frightened and shaken and unsure of what to do or say. He wondered if he looked the same to her. But when she spoke, finally, she said something completely different, “Keith.” She whispered seriously, “You need to tell Kenzie.” He blinked, “What?” She’d kept going though, “I mean, the sooner the better. You should probably go now, talk to her tonight. It’d be – it’d all be better that way. The sooner you tell her, the easier she’ll – the easier this will w-“ “What am I supposed to tell her?” He cut in finally. “Well, you need to tell her something!” Her voice gained a bit of strength, “You can’t LIE about this! If you do it will be all that much worse when she finds out, and she WILL. Find. Out.” “Okay then,” Keith said, in all seriousness, “WHAT do I tell her, Dana?” Dana went silent, moving to pace the kitchen a little. He watched her, waiting for her to back up her insane idea. “You tell her…” Her voice was a whisper again, “That it was nothing.” She spared him a glance, “It WAS nothing, after all.” He just looked at her, waiting for a continuation. That would never be enough, besides… nothing? He didn’t know what a lot of that was, but he couldn’t ever say it was nothing… could he? Was it? She continued, “I mean, it was- I was sick and you’d just- just been worried about me, and you were relieved that I – I was better and we both weren’t thinking. And I- I was still light headed, I mean I am. I couldn’t have- we both weren’t thinking.” She was on a roll here, “And I mean, we didn’t think- and then- then there was that stupid rain, and I- it didn’t-… Just tell her the truth, Keith.” Her voice dropped and she turned away from him, “It was- was nothing. Y-you still love her.” “Dana…” He began, but he had no clue how to follow that. She looked at him again, a weak smile on your face, “After all, we’re like- like siblings, right? That- that wasn’t… anything.” Keith tried to think through what she was saying. What WAS she saying? It hadn’t felt like nothing, it had felt like everything, and he was sure she’d felt that too, hadn’t she? Did she seriously believe it was nothing? Lack of thought due to a light head? A momentary lapse of sanity and judgment, but… nothing? Why did this bother him so much? Dana was helping, helping make sure that he could stay with his girlfriend happily even after what had happened between the two of them. She was helping him explain, so why didn’t he like it? He couldn’t really say. He just knew he didn’t. He didn’t like Dana calling that moment they’d had nothing, he didn’t like that she still considered him like a brother… and he had no idea why. Maybe she was right. Maybe the sooner he talked to Mackenzie, the better. Staying here was certainly not helping his mentality. Keith sighed, because he didn’t like that either. “Dana…” Before he continue she sneezed a few more times, until she had to lean both hand on the counter for support. And so changed his following words again, “Are you alright?” She sniffed, “I – I think my cold’s back.” She sighed, and her back was to him again, “I’ll just sleep. You go back to Dublin and talk to Kenz.” “I’m not gonna leave if yer still sic-“ “I can take care of myself, Keith.” Dana nearly snapped. Her voice lowered, “Thank you- T-thank you, but no. I think…” Her shoulders were shaking a little, but enough that he could notice, “I think it would be better if you left now, Keith. I’ll be- I’ll do better if you just… left.” He shook his head, emptily. He couldn’t say for sure but he wondered if his heart had just broke. That’s what it felt like. “At least let me help you back to your room.” He pushed on before she could argue, “You hardly look able to walk, Dana, l-“ He cut himself off. Using his pet name for her would not do anything in this situation. She sniffed and gave an artificial cough to cover up what sounded more like a sob. But finally, still not turning around, she nodded. “Okay…” She whispered, “But then, please go.” He nodded in reply, “It’s alright, Dana. I will.”

Keith sneezed, far louder than he would have liked, as he was standing outside Mackenzie’s apartment door for at least the last five minutes debating when exactly to make his entry. And what on earth to say. Finally, he took a deep breath and opened the apartment door, promptly sneezing another time. He figured he was getting Dana’s cold. Making out with a sick girl in the pouring rain would do that to a person. He tried to shake that image out of his head again. It helped nothing that now when Dana came to mind so did the memories of their kiss and all the mixed up feelings with it. How on earth was he supposed to tell Mackenzie he’d kissed Dana? How did Dana expect this to just go over easy, even with the explanation she’d paired with it? He wasn’t sure he could even do that right, he wasn’t sure he could ever truthfully call their kiss nothing. Mackenzie would be hurt, very hurt and God only knew how things would end for them after that. He remembered Dana’s old relationship, where she lost her boyfriend and best friend because of this kind of situation. There was a chance he’d lose Mackenzie, though he hated that idea. But he didn’t want to let that end his friendship with Dana… though she seemed unlikely to want to talk to him ever again after he’d left. Sighing, Keith moved further in, feeling stranger than ever in the over-clean, cold designed apartment. And finally, Mackenzie came out of her own painting room. She looked surprised to see him. A bunch of other things too, but mainly surprised. “Keith… You’re back e- I mean, I didn’t expect you’d be back for a while…” “Dana was…” He cleared his throat a little, “She was doing better, and we both decided I should get back here soon.” His girlfriend cocked her head, “You alright?” Keith shrugged, “A bit worn out, I guess.” He knew he didn’t sound like himself at all, and she was catching it. This was not the best way to start this. “Well, I hope you didn’t catch Dana’s cold.” Alright, he thought, deciding that was invitational cue enough, now or never. “Mackenzie…” Her small smile faded a little and she looked at him seriously, waiting on what ever he was going to say. “About… about Dana….” But words of explanation seemed to fail him. He tried to think of how in God’s name he was going to explain things to her, where he was going to begin? But as Mackenzie watched him struggle to find words, looking almost exasperated she finally shook her head and sighed, “It’s alright, Keith. I know you’re in love with her.” Keith nearly choked at that. She’d said it so casually too, as though she was simply commenting on the weather or something equally trivial. “Kenzie…. What?” “I know, Keith. I think I may have guessed for a while, but I know it now.” She sighed a little, “It’s alright.” “No- No.” He tried to shake his head, knowing that this was not the way anything was meant to have worked out, “Kenz, I mean, Dana… she’s great, but… she’s not you.” “I know she’s not me.” She replied, seriously. “That’s probably one thing you love the most about her.” Ouch. Oh, C’mon Keith, his mind yelled at him. Tell her that’s not it at all, tell her you love her not Dana, get her to listen! But as he thought about it, he couldn’t deny what she’d just said… Everything he DID love -about Dana, it was everything that separated her from Mackenzie. He wasn’t done yet, “No, it’s not like that… Dana is- we’re like” he remembered her explanation, and though he hated it, it was needed, “we’re like siblings.” Well, THAT didn’t work as well as he’d hoped. Mackenzie laughed a humorless laugh, “Keith, you HAVE a sister, and I’ve seen you around her, and I’ve seen you talk about her, and I know you care about her a lot. But PLEASE do not insult my intelligence by thinking I’d truly believe how you feel about Dana is remotely the same as for Becca.” He was ready to say something, ANYTHING, back to her but she was already continuing. “You’re always so happy with her, anyone can see that. And when you aren’t with her, you’re on the phone with her, or – “ She sighed, “You’re wishing you were with her. Please, Keith. I know how it is.” Cocking her head again she sighed another time, “Probably more than you do.” Keith opened his mouth to argue and then closed it. He tried to think through what Mackenzie was saying. WAS he that happy around her, well he knew he was, but so much that anyone could see it? He knew- all he knew was that when he was with Dana nothing else really mattered. It didn’t matter what they talked about or what they did, just being around her made everything good. And when he was away, no matter where that was or who he was with, he wanted to be near Dana again. Did that mean- was he really in love with her? In LOVE with her?! He thought of kissing her, though he’d been trying not to up to then. He thought of the millions of emotions that had run through his mind. Except now, he knew… there weren’t millions, there’d only been one. One strong controlling emotion that until then had been buried. He did love her. Her really truly loved Dana. His girlfriend gave him a sad smile, reading his thoughts like she always had. “I didn’t realize you hadn’t figured it all out yet.” Was all she said. If he was in love with Dana… then, “Kenzie, I-“ She shook her head, cutting him off again, “Keith, it’s okay. I knew-“ She looked away from him momentarily, “I knew, Dana or no Dana… this would happen someday. We’re really, very different people and sometimes that still works out but, I started to wonder if it wouldn’t. I knew, too late, that moving out here would probably do it – I just… didn’t expect this…” “Kenz, I- I’m sorry.” He didn’t know what else to say. “Don’t be. You’re in love with her, so be happy with her.” She looked back at him and though her eyes shown with tears she was giving a genuine smile, “She deserves it. I always thought you two were, were meant for each other. In one way or another.” At a complete lose for words now Keith pulled her girl into a hug, warm and strong but friendly. She knew that. He pulled her away and gave her the best smile he could, “She’ll think you hate her.” He tried to imagine telling Dana everything if- WHEN he went back to her. What would she think? What would she say? Was it even really requited? Mackenzie smiled a bit more, “Well, you just tell her the truth, Keith. Besides, I don’t think I should even matter, when you tell her how you feel.” He felt himself grin, and pulled her into a hug again, “You’ll always matter, to me and Dana, Kenz.” And strange as it was to say, he added what he felt truly fit, “Thank you.”
HUZZAH! But we ain't finished JUST yet, sweeties.

might as well.... this is the last post. save the epilogue.
The door to Dana’s house was locked. Figures. Keith stood outside wondering whether to knock or call or what. But what if she saw his number and decided not to answer, what if she shut the door in his face? Both situations he could imagine clearer than he wished. “It would be better if you left.” She’d said. He hated thinking that she wanted him to leave her, no matter how much it had made sense at the time. Would she want him to come back – was she still upset? Could he get her to listen? Did she even love him back? Sure, he thought, she’d kissed him back. He clearly remembered the feeling of her kissing him back. But- he just didn’t know. She’d been so miserable after, so scared and firm on her desire for him to leave her. That too, of course, made sense. But well, he still didn’t know. Keith sighed. He remembered the first time he’d made her cry. He’d thought she was angry with him, but it turned out she had only been upset with herself… because of her getting in the way with him and Mackenzie… Oh she was probably beating herself to near death over this. He hated that thought he even more, and brought himself to reach for the doorbell. But he stopped before ringing it, remembering something else. Dana was sick. Dangerously sick. He wondered if she was even awake, and if she was he didn’t want her pushing herself to wait on him. Not caring how bad it really was, he pulled the doorknob far to the left and kicked the door to open it. Dana wouldn’t be happy with him, breaking into her house when she didn’t want to see him. He didn’t really care. He needed to see her. He heard her cough from the second the door opened and he idly thought about saying who he was before she thought she was being robbed or something. But it turned out that wasn’t needed. “Keith,” Dana’s voice was hoarse and came from the kitchen, “stop playing James Bond and lurking in doorways or whatever it is you think you’re doing.” Well, she didn’t SOUND furious or depressed, but she certainly didn’t sound her usual self. Holding back a sigh of relief he moved to the kitchen. Dana sat at the table, a cup of tea before her. Her short blonde hair was messy and her complexion washed out. She still looked sick with the addition of looking miserable. “You should be in bed.” “You should be with your girlfriend.” Keith took a deep breath, “Dana, I love you.” She didn’t hear him, or didn’t listen, or both. She didn’t even blink at his words, and continued on her own tangent, “I mean, you know as well as I do that it does no good for either of us for you to be back after you fixed things.” She stood up then, looking at him seriously, and her tone softened. It was back to her frightened whisper, “You DID fix things… didn’t you?” A little more than upset she hadn’t reacted at all to his words, he replied gently, “She… um… left me.” She technically had, though the break up was mutual. Dana had always been pale, and being sick made her tone even more washed out. Now whatever color she’d had left seeped out of her, leaving her looking almost empty. Her eyes had widened more than even after their kiss. “She left you?” A nod, “Because… because of me?” “Yes.” This was only making things worse, he thought. Why couldn’t she just hear him out? He tried again, “But, Dana I-“ She cut him off again, taking a couple steps until there wasn’t an inch between them. He almost thought she was going to collapse into tears in his arms, and he raised his arms to encircle her. And she did cry, but not so much into him, as once his arms were around her she pulled back as far as he would let her, and when he wouldn’t she gave a half hearted attempt to push him back. “Keith!” She said, her voice thick with tears, “I – you were supposed to explain to her! She shouldn’t have- she- she- you had to make her listen. Now she’s- now she left you and it’s m-m-my fault!” She began to beat her fists against his chest when he still held her close to him. The little punches held absolutely no force as she was shaking all the while. And the more she tried to push away, the closer he held her, trying to soothe her. Finally she gave up, mostly. Collapsing her head on his shoulder and letting out her tears, mumbling ‘eejit’ repeatedly, one fist still attempting to hit his chest in time to her mumbles. He didn’t know if she was talking about him or herself, but decided it was time to intervene. Seizing her wrist from it’s continuous punching, he finally pulled her away slightly to look her in the eye, taking in her tear stained blotchy face, “Dana… love, I DID explain, best I could. I did try and make her listen; she just turned out to be better at it.” “You… what?” She whispered hoarsely, sounding almost dazed now, like she couldn’t get what he was saying. He shook his head, smiling a little, “So here I am trying to make her listen to all the reasons I don’t love you, while she’s shooting back with all the reasons she knows I do. Pretty soon mine start losin’ strength and do you need me to explain why?” Dana sniffed, but still didn’t seem to get what he was saying, “But – but… Kenzie-“ “Understands.” He finished for her, “She knew how I felt so much longer than I did, and she’s learned to deal with that. She knows- she knows that I am so much happier, when I’m with you. And she doesn’t want to keep us from being… together.” He leaned in and rested his forehead on hers, “That is,” He added gently, “only if you want us to be together. Do you?” Dana, still wide eyed, could only nod weakly. Happy, to say the very least, with that answer, he leaned in further. But just as his lips barely brushed hers she pulled back a bit. “She- she doesn’t hate me?” She whispered, for clarification. She sounded like she wanted to be happy but had to pinch herself first. “She doesn’t hate you.” He murmured before starting where they left off. This time she let him continue longer, though she still seemed too shocked to accurately respond. Once again she pulled back, a little further. “You LOVE me?” Keith smirked, and didn’t even bother with a spoken reply.
^___^ Epilogue will answer your kenzie questions, btw.

EPILOGUE
“Seriously, are you ever NOT doing something with her?” Keith laughed at the little jab at how much time he really had spent with Dana ever since he started openly dating her. He couldn’t help that she was so amazing, so much fun to spend time with. He expected he’d always want to be with her… for the rest of his life. But that was beside the point, “Not really no,” He answered, as he was once again on the phone with Paul, “But actually this doesn’t just involve Dana an’ I. Kenz’s building is finished and she invited us out to see.” Paul paused, “She’s alright – I mean-“ Keith sighed under his breath, really wondering about Paul’s change of attitude whenever Mackenzie was brought in. Did he think she was still upset with him, or what? “She’s the one who invited us out, mate. And it’s been 2 months. I think she’s alright.” “I suppose that makes sense. But I’m willing to bet she’s still upset, if not with you, just in general.” Another pause, “Do you have to have an invitation to come?” “No…” He was still working through his mate’s uncharacteristic attitude… Seriously, Paul. It was okay for him to have been so worried about Keith accidentally getting his girlfriend dumping him. But that'd all cleared up, a clean mutual breakup and Keith was now with the love of his life. What was Paul still going on about Mackenzie for? It wasn't as though he, himself, didn't worry about the girl, but she was his ex, a girl he still wanted to be friends with. Paul- what was Paul to her? “I – I might come out, too. I mean, she got really into this, you said, right? And it’s not very far from where I was gonna be today.” His friend's voice dropped to a smooth mumble, awkwardly fumbling over words. VERY unlike the articulate dubliner. Lightbulb. “OH!” Keith laughed, loud and almost relieved as a hundred things suddenly clicked. “What?” “You – you’ve been in love with her this whole time!” “WHAT?” He was on a roll now, “Oh, God, mate! Here, this WHOLE time I’m thinkin’ you’re worried about me – about gettin’ into trouble with my girlfriend and you didn’t want that to happen. No, you were worried about HER!” He laughed, “You didn’t want me breaking her heart!” Paul finally cut in, “Hey, give me a LITTLE credit her Keith! I was worried about you, too!” He didn’t miss the ‘too’, “But it was mainly Kenzie?” He gave up, “But it was mainly Kenzie.” Keith laughed again, this time at the almost nervousness in his friend’s tone. This was Paul, he was never… nervous, as far as he knew normally. He must REALLY care about the girl. “Well, that’s great, Paul!” It was. He had hoped some day in the future Mackenzie would find some guy who was meant for her in the way her never really had been. For that person to be one of his close friends? It was more than great. “You should really come out then. Maybe you’re right, maybe she is hurting more than I think she is…” He chuckled, “maybe she needs someone to talk to about it… a shoulder to cry on maybe.” “So glad you’re all for this.” He said dryly, sounding more like himself, “Really though, Blondie… she really barely knows me…” “Get to know her then. Dana and I well, we went from complete strangers to… you know. Anyways, that’s proof enough that things like that can spring from nothing.” “I heard my name!” Dana called, wandering out into the room he was conversing in, bright smile on her face. She’d kept her hair short since she first cut it, and gave her a pixie look, which was helped by the light dress she wore. He just grinned at her, and she rolled her eyes, “Don’t you know gossip is bad, Mr. Harkin?” “Don’t you know I can’t say anything bad about you, Dana, love?” He whispered back to her, causing her to blush and stick her tongue out at him. “Dana there?” Paul laughed, noticing his silence. He laughed at how easy it was for people to tell that, “Obviously. So, we’re going to go. You gonna come?” He paused and Keith imagined he shrugged, “No real reason not to. See you there.” “Later.” He hung up and turned to his beautiful girlfriend, bringing his arms around her and pulling her close. “Kenzie?” She asked. “Paul.” He replied, leaning in to kiss her. She pulled back just as it began. “Ah ah, now.” She teased, a smirk on her face, “We told Kenz we’d be there at 1:00. No being late because of- MMmm!” She was cut off as he ignored her protest and kissed her again anyways. This time she didn’t bother anymore, circling her arms around his neck so she could play with his hair again, which she’d developed a habit with. He loved it. Finally she pulled back again, and he let her. Breathing hard she gave him a dazed happy smile, before blinking out of it. “Well arlight, Mr. Harkin, we’re officially going to be late. Happy?” He beamed, “Very much, Mrs. Harkin.” Dana blinked, then again, as his words hit her, “What?” She said, quieter. “What?” He replied, still grinning. “What did you call me?” “Oh.” He hid a laugh and tried to keep his tone as casual and off-hand as he could. “That. Oh, you know, I was just testing out how the name sounded on ya. You know… for future reference…” He trailed off suggestively. Another blink, and then she threw herself back into kissing him, ecstatic with what he had implied was to come. And he’d meant it. This time he was the one to pull back, “Kenz.” He murmured pointedly. She blushed and let him go. “Right, right, sorry.” She pushed her hair back, and giggled a little, “How late will we be?” Thinking of Mackenzie, and Paul, he shrugged, “Not sure. Actually, I’m thinkin’ the later the better in this case.” Dana looked confused, and so he quickly explained he and Paul’s earlier conversation. Dana beamed, looking delighted by the idea of Mackenzie not being alone. “So…” She added, in that coy tone that still made his heart do strange things. He didn’t fight that anymore, “how many kisses late do we want to be?” Keith tried to look as though he was seriously debating this, but his smile couldn’t be kept down. “I think one will be enough. Don’t want her to think anything’s happened to us.” He laughed, and so did she. Happy with that answer, they did just that.
THE END
