“You’ll never guess what just happened?” Alyson begins one of the phone calls.
“What?” Melanie asks.
“Sharon Browne, the producer, asked me if I wanted to be an understudy dancer for the upcomming fall tour,” Alyson squeels with excitement.
“Really, that is fantastic, how’d that happen?” Melanie continues.
“Well, when Ryan let me stay at his place that night he invited a friend over and I was acting like a total dork dancing around to my ipod and he and Paul were watching me, and I guess they told Sharon and she took their word that I was a decent dancer,” she explains.
“Aly, that’s so awesome, is the tour going to be around here, so I can drag Lizzy and Jay to a show,” Melanie asks.
“Yeah, I think mid October, you might want to check the website though just to be sure and get some tickets, cause I have a feeling you’d love to see it live,” she tells Melanie.
“Awesome, I’ll totally have to check that out, well I have to go talk you soon,” says Melanie.
Rehersals start early for the tour, since Alyson is new to the coreography and dancing pretty well in general, she has a very long way to go but is somewhat of a quick learner, Zara is teaching Alyson the steps to “That’s a Woman” and the new coreography for “Every Breath You Take”. “Alyson that was great, I’m glad that Ryan and Paul told Sharon what a great dancer you are,” Zara tells her.
“Thanks Zara that means a lot, yeah, I guess I have to thank Paul, for that one,” comments Alyson.
“Why is that,” asks Zara.
“The first night I came over here Ryan let me stay in his guest room and that night he had invited Paul over and I was listening to my ipod a was dancing around the family room and Ryan told Paul, who had to see it for himself,” Alyson explains.
“Oh, I see,” she replies. Rehersals continue for the next several weeks, “Alyson you are doing fantastic, I think you’re ready for the show,” Zara adds. Then finally the first show of the tour, Zara was amazing as always. The first few weeks of shows continue as usual, the lads picking on Damian and Zara beautifuly dancing. They arrive in the next city and all goes a plan except rehearsing `That’s a Woman’ during sound check, Zara’s ankle turns wrong as she steps off one the steps on stage and sprains it, everyone rushes to her side.
“Zara, are you alright?” Paul and Ryan ask.
“I’ll be fine but, Alyson, you’re going to have to do the next few shows for me,” she replys.
“Of course, whatever you need me to do,” answers Alyson. Showtime comes that night, this time With Alyson on stage. “I hope I do Zara justice,” Alyson mummbles to herself. Time comes for Heartbreaker, Alyson was nervous but had a blast with that song, “That’s a woman” went surprisingly well for being Alyson’s first time dancing in front of an audience. With one show behind her Alyson and the rest of the Celtic Thunder crew are off to the next city, oddly enough that next city is St. Louis. “Well, Aly, looks like your back home for a little while anyway,” says Ryan.
“Yeah, I guess so I can’t believe it’s been a year that I’ve been gone , I wonder if any of my friends down south got tickets, besides Melanie who is bringing Jay and Lizzy,” Alyson says, and Keith perks up at the sound of Melanie’s name.
“Melanie’s coming?” Keith asks.
“Yep, and shes bringing a couple other friends, one of whom is a fellow firefighter I used to work with” she states.
“Cool, woha, you used to be a firefighter” he replys.
“Yeah, for a couple years actually,” she answers.
“Aly, you know you just get more facinating all the time,” Keith says.
Alyson’s cell phone rings, its Melanie telling her that they are on there way up to the theater. A few hours before the show the three arrive at the theater and meet out in front of the building.
“Aly, great to see you again and that I hear that you’re having fun,” Jay tells her.
“It’s great to see you again too Jay, and yes tons of fun” replys Alyson. “Jay, I’d like you to meet boyfriend Ryan Kelly,”she adds.
“Ryan, nice to meet you, I sure hope Aly here hasn’t been too much trouble,” Jay laughs.
“Not at all Jay, she’s perfect,” Ryan proudly states.
“Guys if I don’t see you after the show, hope you enjoy it and I’ll be in touch, love ya’ll” articulates Alyson.
It’s time for the show to start and the three friends take their seats, they enjoy the first act but wonder when Alyson will appear. The second act opens with `Heartbreaker’, they watch Alyson and see her throughly enjoying being on stage, as they also see in `Everybreath You Take’ and `That’s a woman’. At the end of the concert there are meet and greets, the lads decide that since Alyson is originally from this area she should be one of the ones at the meet and greet. Alyson agrees to go to the meet and greet along with Ryan and Keith, everyone asks her questions about Zara and what happened, she tells them about the sprain. She notices that one of the next people in line and trys to hide, Ryan looks over to her and notices her odd behavior. “Alyson, Alyson Cavanagh?” a younger dark haired man asks.
“Hello Seth, how are you, still with the fire department?” Alyson replys, glancing over at Ryan. He can sense that she is uncomfortable.
“Yeah still doing that and I’m good, how are you doing?” Seth answers simply.
“I’m great, couldn’t be better,” answers Alyson.
“Lads time to go, we have a long bus ride ahead of us,” Sharon says coming in from the back door of the room.
“Yes, Sharon,” the three performers answer.
“Well Seth, looks like I have to go, good to see you again though,”replys Alyson getting ready to walk out the door
“Alyson wait,” Seth calls after her.
“What Seth,” Alyson sighs, almost in tears remembering her old feelings for Seth. He was always such a good and supportive friend, especially at the fire department with her. Throughout that time she had begun to have feelings for him, but was too shy to let him know.
“What?” Melanie asks.
