Hey guys. This is my first time posting on here. Hope this goes well. I will update as often as I can!

"Nova you are missing out!" Lorena yelled as she sat on the backseat of my 1986 red lebaron. The top was down and the sun was hot. The kind of unbareable hot that, without proper ventilation, could suffocate you.
"Lor, I really don't think you should be sitting up there." Madeline mentioned as she flipped the visor down and applied a think layer of bright pink lipstick on her already plump and rosy lips.
"She's right Lor, one pothole and poof, you're bum over tin cups off the back of my falling apart car." I drummed my fingers imaptiently on the steering wheel.
"Helena Novaleigh Branxton!" Lorena put her one hand on her hip and adjusted her designer sunglasses with the other. "You deliberatly hit some sort of pothole and send me sailing off the back of this death trap I will haunt you for the rest of your blessed life."
"Like I would do it on purpose Lorena Mae Nikolias." I stuck my tongue out in the rear view.
"Seriously grow up you two." Madeline pouted and puckered her lips running a steady finger across the outline to remove the excess.
"Oh, come on Madeline Gwenyth Monroe." Lorena taunted from her perch.
"Are full names absolutely necessary?" We had thought the source of the voice was still asleep.
"Yes, Evangeline Katrina Branxton." Lor shimmed back down into her seat.
"Thank you." I breathed, "Just in time too." I pulled the car into a tight squeeze of a paking spot and stepped out onto the imported sand surrounding Smith Lake.
We grabbed out bags from the pipsqueak trunk and made our way to the waterline. There were only about twenty people at the lake and for a hot North Carolina August afternoon, I was a bit surprised. We found a spot about 10 feet from the tiny rippling waves and put our things down.
A soft breeze blew across the lake as I laid on the sunbaked rock. I shifted me weight again and sighed. Tossing my sunglasses softly to the side and huffing again.
"Nova, you're not very good at this." Lor spoke harshly.
"I can't sit still and tan, I need to be moving doing something, anything at this point."
Lorena pushed her sunglasses down to the tip of her nose and let her big blue eyes meet my brown. "Then go somewhere else." Her bright petal pink lipstick stained lips pursed and pouted as she spoke. She had a timeless beauty about her, like Audrey Hepburn or Veronica Lake. Her blonde hair which normally laid in soft beach curls was pinned up with half a dozen bobby pins and then strategically adorned with a powder blue wrap. She was 1940s beautiful with a 1950 and 60s fashion sense and expensive taste.
I got up and swifty removed my navy blue sundress to reveal my black one piece with white polka dots. Madeline and Evangeline were already playing in the cool lake. Making my way to the water I noticed a group of six guys rough housing. The cold water covering my feet drew my attention back to my true destination.
I got my ankles wet and walked deeper in, letting the backs of my knees get used to it, then my thighs, then my lower back. Once I could breathe from that, I dove into the water allowing my shoulders and face to have their turn. Evangeline swam over to me her reddish brown hair a deep burnt sienna from the diving she had done. We didn't really look related although she was my cousin, she looked a lot like her mother.
Before she could open her mouth to speak there was a loud yell and an even louder splash. A few seconds after the falling drops of water returned to the lake a mop of dirty blonde hair surfaced.
"Are you okay?" I asked a bit panicked.
"Aye, yes I am." He smiled and laughed slightly. "I'm Keith."
"Novalee." I extended my hand out to him with a matched smile.
